Brickley's Ice Cream

Google
Not the best ice cream I have ever had but pretty tempting. They have unique salty taste to their ice creams, it did work for some flavors but not for all. Blueberry , Chocolate walnuts was good but Butter Brickley was ok.

Google
Who can say no to peanut butter ice cream before dinner? I know I can’t, which is why I stopped here before having dinner. I asked the girl at the window which ice cream I should choose and she said their peanut butter ice cream is made with authentic peanut butter, so I had to go with that one. And let me tell you, it was the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. It was so creamy and so sweet! The cone was crunchy and scrumptious. Eat here if you are in the area!!

Google
This is THE BEST ice cream I’ve ever had. Went back so many times on our trip. Our FAVES are Mint Oreo, Coffee Oreo, and my son absolutely loved Peppermint Stick. The line might be long but it moves fast! They run a tight ship. Don’t waste your time on any other ice cream in the area. We did and deeply regretted it. Haha!

Google
2.5 stars. Got two kiddies cups. Came to about $11. No issues there, but when I got my ice cream (malted milk chip) it was so already melted. It was a chaotic disaster to eat and additionally, I wasn't really impressed by the flavor. However, my partner got the special flavor of the week and loved it. So one good ice cream out of two equates to 2.5 stars to me. Prior to this, never a bad experience at Brickley's though.

Google
This local gem hand makes ice cream and it doesn't disappoint. The orange pineapple was a hit as well as the Oreo sundae. The sizes are generous! The staff is courteous and quick to deliver your tasty ice cream treats!

Google
Really good! Maybe just a bit too sweet. But the texture and flavors are very well balanced. We tried 5 different flavors and loved them all. Will definitely come again. BTW the line outside looks scary, but moves rather quickly, their staff works efficiently

Google
The Best! So many amazing options, Dairy free? Yes sir! Black Raspberry Oreo is the best non dairy ice cream i have ever had. Great staff and charming owner.

Google
Great ice cream in a quaint part of Rhode Island. Texture and flavor are very good. The customer line moves quickly. The Malted Milk Chip was great. We LOVED the soft serve vanilla. Great ice cream and I recommend Brickley's. Five stars.

Yelp
In my opinion, Brickley's is the best ice cream in the state. They have a ton of flavors and when you get a flavor, you get the highest quality mix ins. For example, if you order banana ice cream, it is clear that they use fresh banana. If you order Bing cherry, there are amazing half pieces of cherry in the ice cream. If you get chocolate, coconut almond, there are big chunks of almond and coconut shavings in that ice cream. But the ratio of ice cream to mix ins is perfect. Brickley's sold their Narragansett location (now Baron's) and Wakefield is the only location at this time. I typically go during the off season to avoid the lines, but historically during peak season at peak times, they will get a line that goes down the street. I swear it's worth it. You can no longer go into the store. (This started during COVID, but it must work well for them because they kept it. Also, maybe it is to protect the staff because tourists were nasty to the kids that work there during COVID. They may do this to limit customer interaction to the person at the register only - thanks, tourists...) You order at a window and then wait on the side of the building where they have a bit of seating. There's also benches on the street and little stone walls you can sit on to enjoy your ice cream.

Yelp
The portions here are massive and while there seems to always be a long line, they move so quickly. This is a well oiled machine! They move their line along quickly and have it super organized. You don't need anything bigger than a kiddie. You'll have plenty of ice cream. The girls that got a small were blown away by how much they got. I will def go back and will be getting peach! I tried my friends and it was amazing! Super cute spot with lots of seating. A must check out!

Yelp
I am SHOCKED this place doesn't have more reviews. This was my first time venturing outside of Newport when in Rhode Island and this place is just one of the many reasons why I'm going to keep doing so! I drove to Wakefield after a beach day in Narragansett and Brickley's was the PERFECT end to my day. I cannot get over how great the portions were for the price. So much bang for your buck, seriously. The ambiance was almost summer campy with fun tents and picnic tables. There's PLENTY of space. One of my pet peeves is when outdoor ice cream places or lil fast food restaurants don't have enough space to accomodate guests. That won't happen here. The ice cream was unreal. I got sweet cream and chocolate coconut almond which is considered a small. My friend got the same portion of black raspberry. It was the IDEAL ice cream texture and when combined with the waffle cone...omg. Next time I might skip out on the basic sweet cream for another adventurous flavor. Their menu is HUGE. The staff was super friendly and service was quick. I even watched a staff member run out with a cup when a kid's cone was starting to melt a bit too fast. After posting a photo of my ice cream to Instagram I had several people swipe up with comments like "best place EVER" and "BRICKLEYSSSSSS." The people that get it, get it! Get there ASAP so you can too :)

Yelp
YUM. A must stop. This is the best ice cream I've had in Rhode Island so far. It was creamy without being too heavy. The mint Oreo had so many Oreo pieces and a perfectly balanced mint flavor. The cookie dough was also delicious. They had plenty of seating outside which is a plus for a good ice cream stop! Thankfully the line wasn't too long and our ice cream came out quickly. I will 100% send people here, especially if they're going to be in the area for a beach day!

Yelp
If you know, you know. And if you don't know, make it a point to visit this location or the one in Narragansett. This ice cream is rich and thick with creative flavors, and obviously stellar ingredients contributing to excellent ice cream. My favorite are the coconut, coffee chip, chocolate almond had whole almonds in it, and the sweet cream. If you roll up and find a line, do not despair! Everyone working at Rick's works hard efficiently with a smile and the line moves quickly. This is one of those spots where you just secretly pray nothing changes so that when you're craving a fresh hot waffle cone, and rich, thick & creamy ice cream on a summer day, they will always deliver.

Yelp
Deliiiicious homemade creamy New England style ice cream that is absolutely perfect after a beach day. Great selection of flavors, fast service, and convenient location! We always make a stop by Brickley's when visiting the beach. They don't have any indoors seats, it's just an outdoor counter, but then there's a whole outdoor seated area right around the corner! It's also nice to just walk around the city with Brickley's in hand :) Not sure if it's necessarily *better* than all other New England style ice cream places, but it's definitely the best in this area.

Yelp
Brickleys is a must if you're in the area. Their homemade ice cream is unbelievable. And they just got soft serve, which is what I got last night. This family owned spot has been a summer staple for many years. Don't let the line fool you, it goes fast and it's worth the wait. They also make great milkshakes either any ice cream. Once you get your order there's benches and tables on a patio to the side. It's usually filled with children and dogs but that's what summer is all about! Enjoy!

Yelp
It's been five or six weeks since I had my first Brickley's (went for two visits, to cover the ice cream and the frozen yogurt) and I'm still dreaming about it. Friendly service from a bunch of kids, really creamy, delicious recipes, fun spot to just sit and enjoy for a few minutes. Will definitely be back when I come back to RI.

Yelp
guysssss i made it to brickley's and its ice cream szn so double win. it was SO GOOD. i am not a sweets person but was craving a cold sweet on this day. split a banana split with my bestie. got a frozen yogurt (can't remember flavor) and peanut butter something and ugh i can't remember i think maple walnut was the third. got caramel for my syrup and ate all 3 of the cherries because cherry theory. servers are so sweet. great weather to sit outside but we also went to the river nearby wakefield village and vibes were immaculate.

Yelp
Has continued to be my favorite ice cream place in the area since I was in high school! Large selection of flavors, super fast service (don't let the long lines fool you, they typically move very quickly), and walking through downtown Wakefield while enjoying a few scoops is always a treat. Tourists and locals alike LOVE it here -- always a sign of greatness in South County.

Yelp
After having lunch at Purslane Eatery, the waitress asked what our plans were for the rest of the day. We said we might check out Brickley's Ice Cream next door. She said if the line is short, we should definitely get ice cream. Brickley's Ice Cream's first priority in developing the business was making great ice cream and it is made fresh daily. When we went around the corner, there was a line of customers but not too long. It moved fairly quickly. We could smell the homemade waffles. There were so many ice cream flavors to choose from. I had a hard time choosing the flavor but settled on the maple walnut flavor in a waffle cone. After you order, you can wait around the side and they'll call your name. The maple walnut ice cream had walnut pieces and it was not overly sweet. The waffle cone held its shape and was really tasty. There are a few benches and tables for you to enjoy the ice cream. It's a really nice spot.

Yelp
O M G. was brought here by my friend who lives here in Rhode island and we were blown away ! we even came here the next day before we left because it was THAT good. there's plenty of street parking and even a small parking lot closeby. There's always a line but it goes by fast. They have a big menu but dont be intimated b/c they offer free samples which comes in clutch b/c there's a lot of unique flavors . the staff are SUPER patient and kind. they're very generous with the portion (the small is basically a large) so it's well worth your money. there's even a seating area you can sit outside and enjoy people watching while eating your ice cream. my favorite had to be the malted milk (almost like a hot chocolate flavor). the banana & black raspberry ice cream wasn't bad either ! the sorbet was just ok.. i think i prefer their milk based ice creams more! HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
A wonderful find with great ice cream and a kind atmosphere. There were so many flavors and the people who worked there were very understanding and let us try a few flavors! Even with a mistake on the machine regarding an order, they immediately fixed it. Love to see such a wholesome experience as someone who isn't a massive fan of ice cream! If you're in the area, please try it!
google avatar

Yelp
Menu super large and chose a fantastic coconut ice cream cup on a hot summer day. Will definitely come again if in the area ever again.

Yelp
Stopped in on the way home from Matunuck. Delicious ice cream, had the coffee Oreo. We had 6 of us and each had a different flavor and all enjoyed.
google avatar

Yelp
WTF Brickley's. Your ice cream is so good but why is everything so melty this year? Every time we've gotten ice cream it's like ice cream soup. Very disappointing and you've lost a customer
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Last year we stayed in Bonnet Shores which is how we discovered this place. This year we were in Point Judith and this was so much more convenient after a dinner in Wakefield at Sa-Tang. Waffle cones are awesome. I got peanut butter cup and cookie dough both excellent.
google avatar

Laura N.

Yelp
Everything is amazing. Oreo is to die for. A RI summer favorite. We love Brickley's!!
google avatar

Nita B.

Yelp
We love Brickley's. It's a family tradition to stop whenever we're in town. Its a family owned business and have a couple locations. One in Narragansett and one in Wakefield.
google avatar

Fatboy S.

Yelp
Great little ice cream spot - which thanks to Yelp I found on the ride home. Take out only, but seating out back. Service was super friendly and helpful. Fair prices. The ice cream itself was delicious and definitely tasted homemade. Glad we stopped here and definitely would return when/if in the area.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Extensive menu, which is awesome. I got cake batter ice cream (which has been hard to find lately) with sprinkles. Solid ice cream and cone! There was a line, but it went fast.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Visiting RI from Chicago (plenty of great ice cream shoppes) and stumbled upon Brickley's... both my husband and agreed it was the best ice cream we've ever had. He had traditional dairy and I had the vegan. Both were the BEST ever!
google avatar

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed Brickley's in all my years on Yelp. Definitely a staple in Rhode Island and has some of the creamiest ice cream ever. Loads of flavor options and great waffle cones. I really enjoyed the mint chip. They close yearly for the winter. It's definitely not a sit down store- there are some benches outside however. It's been forever since I've been but this is a staple that is very well known among the students at URI and the local community. If you're ever in Rhode Island, I'd recommend checking them out!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
My brother (a University of Rhode Island graduate) brought me here after stating that it was Rhode Island's favorite ice cream shop and I can see why! The outside seating area was packed with families enjoying their ice cream and the nice weather. The line to order moved very quickly and the employees behind the counter worked fluidly to fill orders as a team. (I'm used to seeing one person help a group. The fact that they had multiple workers helping to prepare orders regardless of groups made for quicker service - in my opinion.) I got a kiddie-sized scoop of cookie dough ice cream which was still a lot! You certainly get your money's worth because my one scoop towered over the top of the kiddie cup. As far as cookie dough ice cream goes, this rates towards the top! I didn't end up trying a waffle cone, but they looked and smelled delicious so I will try one the next time I find myself at Brickley's! As far as what you look for in a local homemade ice cream shop, Brickley's does a great job. Good service, clean shop with indoor and outdoor seating, and a variety of flavor and toppings to choose from.

Arielle B.

Yelp
Extremely good ice cream. The coffee Oreo has full Oreos in it! The waffle cones also are outstanding. Portions are huge. Well worth the trip!

Ray S.

Yelp
What's not to like, lots of flavors and toppings. Fast friendly service. If you can't get to the beach, be sure to get yourself a nice ice cream cone or sundae
google avatar

Yelp
The. best. Ice cream. You. Will. Ever. Have. PERIOD. My husband and his family have been coming here for years. I've just started about 7 years ago but wow will your life change. Brickley's is cash only but whatever it's so worth it for their HOMEMADE ice cream. I mean how often can you go to a ice cream shop and know that it's homemade? Probably not often. Not only do they serve home made ice cream but they also make their waffle cones on site and in front of you! So delicious! The smell of their cones fills the entire shop- the best! Their servings are also gigantic. For instance, this visit I ordered a kiddie size bing cherry in a waffle cone and it seemed like a LARGE! Honestly the best bang for your buck if you're looking for a lot of QUALITY ice cream. If you are ever in the wakefield area do yourself a FLAVOR (see what I did there?) and go to Brickley's! You will NOT be disappointed.
google avatar

Lenore M.

Yelp
Always fantastic when I need an ice cream fix! Homemade and creamy. Plus some sugar free when I'm on a diet. Love those waffle cones.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
The vegan black raspberry oreo is the best I ever had Don't be discouraged by the line the kids work fast inside.
google avatar

Cam G.

Yelp
Brickley's is and continues to be the best ice cream I've ever had. The way that all the mix-ins are homemade (homemade brownies, homemade peanut butter cups, etc) really makes it high quality ice cream. I will be going back to RI just for the ice cream
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
Cookie dough ice cream is amazing. Waffle cone even better!!
google avatar

Giacomo L.

Yelp
Step 1. Discover ice cream place convenient or near so you go there for a nice walk and ice cream. Step 2. Decide ice cream is so good you will exclusively go there whenever you want ice cream. Step 3. Discover the magnificence of their malted cabinet. Step 4. Start modifying your routines, including exercise routes, so that you can stop by on your way. Step 5. Realize that you can mix two flavors (chocolate and black berry) in the malted cabinet. Cry inside for your life so far, that didn't have this in it. Step 6. Become addicted. You now plan activities specifically so that you have a good (enough) reason to swing by. Step 7. Post a long overdue review on Yelp.
google avatar

Yelp
Brickley's is extremely dangerous! Beware! Once you try it you will keep coming back, even though it's dangerous for your waistline! I discovered Brickley's a while back when visiting the yoga studio across the street. It has become a bit of a tradition to arrive early for yoga and visit Brickley's first. I'm a bad yogi, what can I say. The ice cream is amazing, super creamy and comes in many exciting flavors. The staff is young but friendly and helpful. The shop itself is very small with minimal seating indoors, and often has a line winding out the door because there is little space to wait indoors. On a nice day there is plenty of seating outside. I highly recommend Brickley's even though it's dangerously addictive ;-)
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
They have a nice setup for outdoor ordering and pickup (with awning/tent), even on a rainy day! I tried the peanut butter cup with hot fudge, which was delicious! My mom had the coffee heath bar frozen yogurt, which was good too. (visited 5/5/21)

Yelp
Best homemade ice cream in the state! I used to come here often when I was in college, and now I work in Newport but still make the drive here for ice cream. My favorite flavor is coffee oreo. I especially love the creamy texture of their ice cream, and their house-made waffle cones! They now accept credit card which is a huge plus for me. The prices have slightly gone up over the past few years, but it's worth it for the portion size and quality. The workers are so nice and patient while you're trying to decide what flavor you want. This will forever be my favorite ice cream shop in Rhode Island!
google avatar

Derrick L.

Yelp
A south county classic! I am biased being from Northern RI (go Ice Cream Machine and Wright's!), but Brickleys is a fantastic spot for local ice cream on a hot summer day. My wife enjoyed her Brownie Batter cone, chock full of brownie chunks in a smooth chocolate base. I enjoyed the Birthday Cake cabinet (RI for Milkshake), which still had some pleasant chunks and bits to slurp up through the straw!
google avatar

Maddie G.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream ever AND amazing homemade waffle cones. I love how many options they have, but I especially love Black Raspberry Chip, Coffee Oreo, Cake Batter, and Pumpkin, so there's some flavor suggestions for you indecisive people. It is a little expensive but honestly, that ice cream is luxury so they're fair for their prices. And the workers are almost always young adults and they're all very polite and professional even when they're slammed with a line down the road.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
Always go to the Boston Neck location but we were in town and found out it was opening week at the Wakefield location so we stopped in to get a quart and a pint to take home- Narragansett location opens in a few weeks. Plenty of on street parking. Staff was super efficient and friendly. Place was packed on a called March night. Excited to find out you can buy their homemade waffle cones to take home. Mocha chip yogurt is my go to and my husband chooses Heathbar ice cream. Best ice cream in the state by far.
google avatar

Rebecca D.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream. Kid favorite. Perfect treat for a downtown stroll. Lots of classic and fresh flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Cake batter and bing cherry were very mild in their flavor. I could still taste the vanilla quite strongly in the cherry. My guess is other flavors might be mixed better. They have one dairy free option but it's not on the menu. Would be great if they got mo

Yelp
This place was sooo worth the line! Yummy ice cream .... The cones are DELICIOUS! The service was wonderful, friendly and fast. If you're in the area, definitely stop :)

Yelp
Cute little ice cream shop in Wakefield! Decent prices and a variety of flavors and toppings. Has a nice little seating area near it to enjoy the ice cream. Definitely a spot to visit at least once
google avatar

Raven-Joie R.

Yelp
Probably my second favorite ice cream. Ordered a large mint oreo waffle cone along with a vanilla root beer float. You do not have to wait long even when there is a line.

Yelp
There are many choices for good ice cream in this little state and particularly near the beaches. But Brickley's is among the best, with several locations. I am normally a soft serve kind of girl, but Brickley's has Ginger ice cream, which is a favorite. So, I indulged on a recent visit, on our way home from the beach. My grandson choose a Chocolate Brownie ice cream and made short work of it. We sat outside on the patio, where a lone guitar player was singing for tips on the street corner. It was a perfect summer evening. We love our tradition of ice cream on the way home from a swim in the ocean, so we love Brickley's!!

Yelp
A great place to get homemade ice cream with a local feel. Walked in on a Wednesday evening with a couple of friends. The shop is small and there are only three or four small tables to sit at. This was my first time at Brickley's. As mentioned previously, for an outsider like me the overall vibe gives a nice local feel of the town and I saw quite a few residents stopping by to get some ice cream. The menu has a huge variety of flavor options, I was surprised to see so many options. I opted for coffee oreo on a waffle cone, while my friends got black raspberry chip and chocolate brownie on waffle cones. It's a little pricey, the total came to about $17 for the three of us, but I think that's to be expected when you're getting delicious homemade icrecream. The ice cream is delicious and creamy in texture. Don't expect to be mindblown, but the ice cream is very tasty and somehow comforting. I can definitely see people buying a pint of these to enjoy at home. The coffee flavor is definitely present and there were nice chunks of oreo as well. The ice cream was surprisingly not too sweet, which I appreciated. My friends enjoyed their black raspberry chip and chocolate brownie. According to my friends the chocolate brownie goes beyond just a chocolate flavor. It is tasty and rich, but might be a bit too indulgent if you are not big on sweets or chocolate. The girls at the counter were very nice and they let you sample flavors if you'd like. Overall I'm glad I got to try the ice cream at Brickley's! Definitely comforting and delicious ice cream that I hope to try again soon!

Yelp
Great ice cream, friendly service, quick turnaround! A must visit if in town! I had the coffee Oreo flavor which was amazing!
