In my opinion, Brickley's is the best ice cream in the state. They have a ton of flavors and when you get a flavor, you get the highest quality mix ins. For example, if you order banana ice cream, it is clear that they use fresh banana. If you order Bing cherry, there are amazing half pieces of cherry in the ice cream. If you get chocolate, coconut almond, there are big chunks of almond and coconut shavings in that ice cream. But the ratio of ice cream to mix ins is perfect.
Brickley's sold their Narragansett location (now Baron's) and Wakefield is the only location at this time. I typically go during the off season to avoid the lines, but historically during peak season at peak times, they will get a line that goes down the street. I swear it's worth it.
You can no longer go into the store. (This started during COVID, but it must work well for them because they kept it. Also, maybe it is to protect the staff because tourists were nasty to the kids that work there during COVID. They may do this to limit customer interaction to the person at the register only - thanks, tourists...) You order at a window and then wait on the side of the building where they have a bit of seating. There's also benches on the street and little stone walls you can sit on to enjoy your ice cream.
