Bricks & Hops Beer Garden - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"You won’t find ketchup or mustard on the burgers at this Mott Haven beer garden, and you won’t miss them either. That’s because the burgers here are topped with condiments like onion jam and cheddar or sweet plantains and gandule paste. Order one for takeout or delivery, available daily until 11pm. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

NYC’s Best Takeout & Delivery For A (Quarantine) Date Night

"You can’t go to a bar or beer garden right now, so turn your home into one of those things. Open a few windows, play some music at a volume that only slightly disturbs your neighbors, and place an order at Bricks & Hops. For food, we’re thinking wings, calamari, empanadas, nachos, and mozzarella sticks - and get a few beers and Henny coladas to accompany this fine spread of edible things. Call 718-450-3991, or place a delivery order online." - bryan kim

The Best Sandwiches In NYC For Pickup - New York - The Infatuation

"Just like David Duchovny, the chopped cheese sandwich was born in New York City. It’s a cross between a burger and a cheesesteak, and it should be part of your order from Bricks & Hops. Order one from this beer garden in Mott Haven between 4pm-1am weekdays and 12pm-12am on the weekend." - Team Infatuation

This was my first time here, and customer service was poor, the people working were not inviting or warm. The bartender literally was on their personal phone the whole time while taking my order, having a conversation and talking to me at the same time.. Both servers on shift had a nasty disposition about them.. I ordered two drinks to go. The person literally would not make the drink unless I pay first. I never experienced such ghetto behavior as if I'm a criminal and going to run out the door or something. The price on the website is not the same price that I was charged, and they have the audacity to force gratuity on you. This was my first time coming and my last time! I'll stick to ININE down the block, customer service is much better. The only person that was nice was the actual security guard outside. Spend your money elsewhere.

Google
Food was great (Classic cheeseburger), 6 Buffalo wings oh and the drinks were on point. It’s a nice chill spot. The only issue was that the Bartender does everything. He’ll make you a drink, go to the back to get your food and then keep doing that constantly. It’s like a one man army. Felt kind of bad to ask for things because he was also busy making drink for customers. But besides that it’s a really nice spot to watch sports and enjoy great food.

Google
I visited this fine establishment for lunch and I really had a great time. There were 2 flat screens playing sports, and music flowed through the atmosphere.I had a sangria, which was soooo good! I ate Cajun fries with a cheeseburger. The fries were very salty, luckily the burger was tasty. I will be coming back on a later date to try more food items and to check out the crowd.

Google
We went last Sunday for brunch and it was great. The food and service was wonderful. My sister and I had the the bottomless sangria and it was definitely worth the money. It was very strong. We love the decor. We sat outside it was so cozy. We will definitely go back.

Google
I’ve been here pre pandemic and during. The first time I went pre pandemic was cool. The food and drinks were good. It was packed! During the pandemic the wait was long and they had a system to call. I was waiting outside and missed the call by 5 mins and was already replaced. Had to wait another 45 mins smh. The seating was outside in the backyard which is nice and secluded. The food and drinks were great! I got the vegan burger with fries and my friend who is a meat eater enjoyed it as well. I would definitely come back. Hopefully when the wait isn’t as long.

Google
But when I get my bill sure was charged 1$ more then the happy hour menu advertised and asked about to the bartender and said they never changed it .so management needs to take care of that !! The reason I won't go back and changed my review from 5 to 1 My passion fruit margarita was delicious and my chop cheese as well !

Google
Great food and service. Recommend the Honey BBQ wings and Henny Colada!

Google
This place was a complete let down. Nothing on the website is accurate-- We came for happy hour and left unhappy and went somewhere else. They claim to have $6 margaritas- they're $9. They claim to have chicharron, jalapeno poppers, pretzels, and mozzarella sticks for $5- they don't have any of these items. The drinks on the website are all incorrectly priced, also! In addition to all the misinformation, none of the people working were inviting or warm. Spend your money elsewhere.

Yelp
The bartender was a sweetheart and super relatable! She's 5 stars. But the food is meh. They offer a lunch special for a few of their regular menu items for 10.95 plus a can soda or modelo. Let's just sum it up and say that the crispy chicken sandwich wasn't crispy it's almost as if it was grilled. The French fries they served were orange-ish so I thought they were sweet potato fries- they weren't. And it was soggy yet burnt... Their choice of honey mustard wasn't my favorite. On the other hand their shrimp quesadillas were actually quite flavorful but I could enjoy the pico de gaillo bc I wasn't given utensils. It was super slow and I was taking my time anyway to eat but I was missing that. Other than that, I would just come here for drinks. Maybe if I come later in the day, the food will be better.

Yelp
Ordered the fish and chips and it was not at all what I expected or wanted. It wasn't bad, the fish was fresh and light but coated with coconut shreds. Whoever thought this was an okay substitute for traditional fish and chips... its not. It was very sweet, like cake and didn't even taste right with tartar sauce ( which was 95% mayo / most likely store bought ). I decided to eat the fish with ketchup to make it taste a bit more savory. The fries were basic, unsalted but seemingly freshly cut. There definitely needs to be a description of the fish and chips. I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. I could've been allergic to coconut.

Yelp
Good drinks, Good food and good music. I've been here on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed myself.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate a coworker and her upcoming marriage. It definitely gets packed with the teachers that work around there lol. The music they play is pretty good. The outdoor area is really cute but we couldn't go because it was raining and cold. I can't speak for the food because I wasn't able to stay long enough to eat but the drinks were pretty good. Their happy hour is from 4-8 and the neighborhood is up and coming so I definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Am I the only one that's realized Happy Hour is slowly becoming a thing of the past?! In a quest to stay local and enjoy HH I found Bricks & Hops. My friends and I went on a Thursday evening at 6pm. Perfect timing! Zero wait time and were immediately greeted and seated. We decided to order a bunch of apps including fried calamari, empanadas, Wings (honey siracha & pineapple teriyaki), sweet potatoes fries & nachos. EVERYTHING was good. I would order it all again without hesitation. Full of flavor and not salty. During HH their margaritas are $7 until 8pm. I went with the Mango first then following up with the Tamarind. Neither drink was lacking alcohol. They are strongggggggg and tasty. Bricks & Hops is a complete vibe with an amazing backyard & great music. Definitely returning!

Yelp
Lovely place Came here on Monday like a 2 pm. It was empty! which is great!! I don't really like crowded places. I love day drinking so the hours of this place are great for that. The bartender was the server too but she was great. She came with the menus and the first thing I order was a Henny Sangria. She ask me if I wanted the sangria half and half and I was like what! she start laughing and she gave me a taste. It was great so I said yes ! LOL My second drink was Pumpkin Cider, wow! very tasty , strong but so good! I love pumpkin everything and when I saw that in the menu I was extremely happy! hahaha Prices are good, beautiful décor and excellent service. I didn't ordered any food, next time.

Yelp
This place is horrible. They play old sport games and the services is bad. I will not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Very nice spot. The owners also own Beatstro around the corner. My sister and I ordered the chicken empanadas and chips and guacamole. They have a very good variety of craft beers and cocktails. We would definitely come back for a chill vibe since we noticed they also have a bunch of games (jenga, operation, connect 4, etc.) Overall, first time was very good.

Yelp
Anytime you go into a restaurant and you're the only one there it's going to go one of two ways.......either really good or really bad. This time it was in the middle. My girlfriend and I went for Sunday brunch -- she had been there before, this was my first time. The place was completely empty. We were immediately seated in the back garden area which is really cute. They have it set up with pillows and greenery all around which I thought was lovely. Music was playing (a little loudly for a Sunday afternoon) but overall I love the garden area. The first thing I noticed after looking at the menu is they only offer three entrees for brunch. There is a burger option, a chicken and waffle option and I can't remember the third option. You can order from the full menu though if you want. If you want to do unlimited drinks (sangria or mimosa) it's an additional $20 per person added to your bill. We both decided to get a burger with a glass of sangria. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, avocado and a fried egg. I ordered mine medium well, my girlfriend ordered well done. What I received was a medium RARE burger and hers was medium well. Now since we were the ONLY ones in the restaurant HOW could our orders not be correct? As I stated many times in other reviews, I don't send my food back so I had to make the best of it as did my girlfriend (she didn't finish her burger as she doesn't eat a red center AT ALL). I had regular fries which were ok, my order came with ketchup, my girlfriend had yucca fries which she said were good butt she had to ask for ketchup. We also had to ask for silverware which we should have automatically received after we placed our orders. The sangrias were good - we actually had two glasses each. There is an automatic 18% added to your bill regardless of the number of people which I didn't like but what can you do post quarantine? Would I go back? Hmmmmmm I'm not so sure as I was a little disappointed this time but if I do I will be sure to do an update.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting Bricks & Hops and it won't be in my last. The trip from East Harlem was short and sweet and the vibe was lively on a Friday night. Definitely come towards the earlier side of Happy Hour in order to get a seat up front. The service was a bit slow at times, but the bartenders made up for it with their friendly demeanor and great pours, if ya know what I mean lol. I had the strawberry margarita and Say Deuces (basically a rum punch with Dussé). The Deuces was potent and delicious AF -- highly recommended! My friend had the guava margarita and a Henny Sangria. Although it was my first time, she's a regular here and raved about the sangria being her go-to. The one thing I will say is my surprise with the Shrimp "Po Boy." Part of what makes it a Po boy is the bread, so imagine my surprise when the fish came out in a tortilla wrap....Other than that, the Cajun fries were deliciously seasoned and the mozzarella sticks ($5 HH) hit the spot. The calamari was also tasty. All in all I def look forward to coming back...and rushing from work in lower Manhattan to savor every moment of happy hour. It's good having a place like this in the neighborhood and being able to keep the money uptown/close to home.

Yelp
Visited during their lunch hour special and it was great. They have a really nice patio with shade - great for the nice weather. The lunch special goes from 11-4 for $10.99 includes an entrée and a soft drink or modelo. I had the chicken sandwich and Cajun fries & yummm - my friend also had the chicken sandwich but with tater tots and the tots were the perfect crisp and taste. We stuck around for happy hour that starts at 4 and tried their coconut margarita - tasted very refreshing and not too sweet. Also tried the half and half sangria - is on the stronger side but too sweet for my liking. The staff & service was great! Will be returning.

Yelp
I like this place! Iv been there pretty often now with friends always good music, lively people & good energy in that bar! Friendly staff, yummy finger foods & affordable too

Alysha L.

Yelp
I mean what can I say, TY . The food looked great, would have liked it to be tad hotter. Wait staff was over whelmed so food came out slow. Glad I only ordered beer. Loved the vibe in the backyard. Need to spray for the ants, FR. Love the fact that there were board game to play with friends and family.
google avatar

Edilma P.

Yelp
I tried to be as fair as possible because in actuality it wasn't bad, but coconut crusted anything should be described in the menu. It was edible, but not what I think of when I read fish and chips.

Yelp
Bricks & Hops has amazing prices for bottomless brunch and very affordable happy hour deals. I'm absolutely obsessed with their mac and cheese and order it almost every time I stop by. I've tried many items off both their regular and brunch menus and while I've never been completely blow away, I've never been dissapointed. I'm excited to stop by here during the warmer months, as they have a huge backyard area outside. They definitely should consider adding seats with some sort or back support. Sitting in their bar stools for an hour or two at a time can get very uncomfortable very quickly. Also adding carafts to the tables when doing bottomless brunch would be great. It's a bit tedious to constantly have to flag down the waitress when you want another mimosa... especially when it's busy. I obviously want a refill if I'm paying for bottomless, no need to ask every time. All things considered service could be better but Bricks & Hops is a great place to stop if you want a drink and a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Nice spot, highly recommend the sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. Staff is helpful and lovely

Yelp
Wanted to love this place. The look and feel of the spot is that of any place I'd frequent and love to be......BUT I came here on a Saturday night after a football game and was highly disappointed. When my party arrived we were seated and told to scan the menu and then told there was no food available. Only drinks, not terrible but strike one. We ordered a drink, the drink was decent but took forever. The server wasn't the most attentive BY FAR, sometimes we had to actually just call over to the bartender ourselves and the place only had about 10 people in it and 7 were in my group. After the drink, I asked for a glass of water before ordering another drink and the water arrived WITH A ROACH FLOATING IN IT. STRIKE 2 AND 3! After waiting about 10 minutes for the waitress to check in again, I told her and told her I was done ordering in which her response was "Oh ok" as she took the cup away and sat it on the next table and proceeded to ask how I'd be paying for my 1 drink. After a customer found a roach in their drink and it was brought to your attention, you aren't even at least thinking maybe I should comp the single drink they ordered?! That was the final straw and no matter how much I wanted to really like this place especially with the rave reviews, I don't think I could ever go back.
google avatar

Milagros M.

Yelp
Went here for happy hour and had good time. Ordered the mixed sangria and coconut margarita both were delicious. Didn't have any food but would definitely recommend coming here.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Came in on rainy weekday for the first time. Space was pretty empty around 6ish. They had some beers on HH which I tried and enjoyed the suggested IPA. Had some appetizers (Calamari was good with this hint of sweet sauce or marinade I believe). Nice spot. Staff was friendly and accommodating to any request. 2 nice spacious restrooms. Easy walk from the subway if traveling in that route. I def wanna go back and sit out in the patio when the weather permits. Happy to see these kind of establishments opening up in the BX.
google avatar

Devin T.

Yelp
This is a late review. But I definitely remember my service as well as my food and drinks. I had a bricks a burger with fries. it was great my friends and our children all ordered food and it came out fresh and hot. Our drinks were the bomb as well. I had a Mango margarita (We caught happy hour)!!! That was definitely a plus. No complaints.
google avatar

Ale A.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We had almost all the appetizers. I was a little disappointed that they sold out of a few things but we did get there late. Drinks are strong and good can't wait to come back
google avatar

Yelp
I love bricks and hops ! They were open during covid and still allowed us to get takeout from their service window! Their food is always very fresh and their drinks are amazing! My sis and I went to eat there yesterday and their outdoor section in the back is so cute and cozy! They have amazing servers and waitresses. All around great spot!
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
Great Vibez!! Can't find too many spots in the Bronx with good music, scenery, and good prices. The happy hour drink specials are not disappointing at all. The drinks are strong and good, can't go wrong coming here !!! The Cajun fries were . They had some kick to them but I couldn't stop myself from eating them
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
Like many others who have left not so great reviews, it pains me because I want to support The Bronx and it's businesses. That being said... I have been here at least 5 times. The food is nothing to write home about. The empanadas are overpriced and tiny, the chicharron de pollo is flavorless, and the grilled cheese is meh. The beer selection is good, and the margaritas were as well. But the sangria isn't great at all and they add fruit that has been sitting in liquid for who knows how long and is soggy and gross. Additionally, on my last visit, my card was charged twice. I tried handling it with my bank, but they insisted I contact the merchant. I tried for a week. Every time I called the bar, I was told the manager wasn't on duty. I was given the manager's (Jasmine) cell number. Called, left a voicemail, still nothing. I was then given an email address. Used that as well, still nothing. I DMd them on social media and my message was read and never replied to. Lastly, I DMd the server who charged me the night I was there. She took down my info and said she would give it to the manager and I would hear back from her. Never did. I am now in the process of filing a claim with my bank, which is ridiculous and inconvenient. Two other people I know have had their cards charged twice on their visit as well. I won't be returning to Bricks & Hops. Even if it was to tell me I need to sort it with my bank, at least have the courtesy to acknowledge a paying customer's inquiry. To be ignored when the error was on their end is poor treatment and I will not support it.
google avatar

Hadassah F.

Yelp
A little pricey but great atmosphere and the food is good! I really like the patio area in the back and the happy hour is good
google avatar

Nikki D.

Yelp
Well when it's open ,it's great it seems like every time I attempt to go in the last 3 months it's been closed ! But nevertheless the Wings and fries are amazing and the drinks are good also and no complaints on the service end either . I met the owners one afternoon in 2020 while I was there and they were so nice and appreciative of our patronage of their establishment. I definitely recommend this spot .
google avatar

Luis N Evelyn C.

Yelp
We were so excited to eat and drink at the ONLY beer garden in SB. The back is small-ish but stylish. I enjoyed the ambiance. Huge projector! Perfect for football season. We ordered the burger with a sweet plantain in it & the chicken sandwich with garlic aioli. Both were delicious (8/10). We also had 2 beers each. The Bronx pale ale (one of our faves) and a seasonal pumpkin beer. We were a group of 3 and a 20% tip was already included which was odd. Our server was brand new and I guess something came up because we never saw him again. Another server picked it up so it was perfectly fine. It was a laid back vibe and we'll definitely be back. For whomever this is helpful to: No smoking allowed in their outside area!
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
Highly highly highly recommend for a happy hour spot. For warmer days there is a wonderful back patio where you can fit a lot of your crew. FYI-The inside is a bit load if you plan to come here for a date or to catch up with friends.
google avatar

Lidia D.

Yelp
I am not a beer person BUT there's more than just beer at a Beer Garden. Right? We'll sorta. I am a vegan and as per usual did my research before committing to attend Brick & Hops. I was surprised by the various vegan items being offered on the menu. However, on the weekends there's a small number of plates available.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
So first I want to start by saying the security guard is hot!!lol and super friendly but that's just the beginning of this place it has great decor. The first part is a very bright but well situated bar, then you hit the corner and boom!! The back yard is amazing. My friends and I ordered the chicken tostadas they where to die for. My drink of choice was the Moscow mule but they used better vodka so it had a different name. At one point they even brought out a projector so i could see the Mets lose but none the less it just made me want to stay longer. I hope this place sticks and I definitely recommend it.
google avatar

Tiah A.

Yelp
Came with some friends and overall had a great time. The garden out back is such a nice chill spot, I definitely appreciated the citronella candles because mosquitoes love me. We had the half & half henny sangria which was pretty good. We only ordered one appetizer since we weren't too hungry, the chimi sliders. Those were ok, the sweet plantains def saved it as the meat could've used some more seasoning. Overall it was a cool spot & I'll def be back
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
Great happy hour! Margaritas and food are well with it. Definitely will be returning.
google avatar

Raquel F.

Yelp
Great outdoor seating area! Our waitress, Naomi, was very knowledgeable on the beer and brought out samples to match my preferences before ordering one. Reasonable priced food and good quality! Will 100% be returning
google avatar

Yelp
Service for me is priority. This is a gem in the bronx. The music was on point. Played new hip hop, old hip hop. And the atmosphere was very dope. And energetic. Now for the drinks... the special beer choices that I had were very tasteful...and im glad that they showed love to the new york and breweries. The pineapple teriyaki wings were fireeee.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
8-11-2019 - I was told about this place while enjoying an IPA at the Bronx Brewery. A staff member did the right thing and noticed I was enjoying their most hoppy beers and told me about Brick & Hops. So I decided to try the place out where the beer selection(Good Amount of IPA's) is actually great. The bartender was cool and made a pretty good Moscow Mule. The place was nice, clean and the beers were cold. Everything was a little overpriced but that certainly can be overlooked with good service. I surely intend on coming here a little more frequently.

Theresa M.

Yelp
Great after work happy! Love this place with friends! Definitely give the bronx brewery some love.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I visited yesterday for the first time. The spot in pretty nice, they just opened last Thursday. They offer happy hour from 4-8, they have 20 draft beers, $2off for happy hour, and some mixed drinks as well. We didn't eat this visit but the menu looks good, I will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Laurence T.

Yelp
Nah.... Stupidly gave them another try after the pandemic and they completely messed my order up. Like comeeeeeee onnnnnnn never again!!!! What a joke
google avatar

Kaitlin A.

Yelp
This really is a darling little spot. Located in the blossoming Mott Haven area of the Bronx, this hidden gem has a nice little happy hour in a quaint environment. I definitely appreciated all of the OFF! candles given the fact that they are an outdoor garden. Communal seating is also a nice touch. I love that this trend is catching on uptown!
google avatar

Munazza B.

Yelp
I've never been to the actual location yet I've just been ordering takeout from here. I'm so sad I never been in person because the food is good. I've tried the Bronx bully chicken sandwich & a burger that has plantains and beans on it. AMAZING. I'm glad it's a black owned business as well which they'll always have my support. I've been telling all of my friends and families about this local black owned gem. OH and the drinks are strong but delicious. Can't wait to visit once it opens back up!
google avatar

Mya D.

Yelp
Question... I came to your establishment to dine as i was referred and told how great it was when they visited. So here I am and it was at capacity fully understood when it's at a time where it was outdoor dining only. The host asked if we would leave our number and they would call back once a table was available, but we never got a call back. We called the establishment and reminded the host we had left our number an hour ago, again was told 45 min we would receive a callback. No callback! A great thing there are so many other establishments in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Shayann S.

Yelp
Let me just say this place has such a cute city vibe in the Bronx. $13 for 90 minutes of mimosas and a coconut mojito to die for. However the service could be better. I only saw one waitress working out back. So expect to wait ! If you are looking for a chill city vibe this place is for you. A bit pricey but I guess you pay for the ambiance
google avatar

Victor P.

Yelp
Nice little spot with outdoor seating! Friendly staff, good service. Don't let outside fool you it's a real cozy spot, check it out! 1st time but I'll return again

B. H.

Yelp
The service and beer list are amazing! The manager and the server were extremely attentive. We had the Buffalo sliders and the Bronx chicken sandwich or something (I could look up the name from the menu, but don't want to) and they were like a fried leather wallet - hard, chewy, and tasteless. Buns tasted microwaved- chewy and then even more chewy. We discarded the buns and did our best. The fries (we had Cajun flavor) were fantastic! Go here for beer and service, maybe not food.
google avatar

Carlos L.

Yelp
I really wanna cheer up and support our local spots , this place is great, many beers, good craft drinks and very nice looking bar, but our bartender on Monday night, couldn't even say good evening when we walked in, not thank you or ask if everything was ok with the drinks, very disappointing! Good manners and saying thank you can go a very long way! I would still give it a second Chance!

Naita S.

Yelp
Went here last Sunday for a brunch event. Nice space, good vibes, tasty food, and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Wilks D.

Yelp
Great drinks for great prices! The service is friendly, diligent and catering. The place has an outside patio where you can enjoy your drinks and catch up w/ friends or family. Perfect place for happy hour!
google avatar

Josh F.

Yelp
Great wings and reasonably-priced drinks. Staff is super-friendly too. Very clean and good sound for music too. Highly recommended!

Olivia O.

Yelp
Giving this place 2 stars because they have notoriously told people that they're playing fights/games just to get more ppl into their establishment; only for them not to play it. There's a reason why we ask if it's being played, we want to enjoy a drink while ACTUALLY watching it. As the place is usually empty (red flag) this is a tactic just to get more traffic. To add to that, I paid for one drink and the bartender purposely tact on additional dollars to my bill (she didn't hand me a receipt.) A vodka cranberry doesn't cost $25 no matter the establishment you go to! Who knows how many ppl she has done this to.
