Came later in the evening, and the restaurant had open seating. Great atmosphere to the restaurant, as they have paintings for sale and great decor, too. Quick service and (I believe either an owner or manager) had served us and was helpful in making good decisions. My mom had asked for a burger, but she made sure that she would get it cooked medium well, and not well done. All the food tasted great, and the timing of the food being brought was deliberate and well planned. Would recommend coming to Bricks Cafe, and will visit again once I’m back in the area! I’d recommend the Smoked Gooda and Artichoke Dip!

The place is a bit tired but the food is great. If you want a Margherita pizza this is an excellent choice. I’ve had dozens of them. They have a brick oven and make every crust to order. My wife tends to get salads and they have fresh options. Vinaigrette dressing is her favorite.

This looks like a nice “corner pub” style of place with a large bar area and table seating. Our waiter Gregory was friendly and took our drink and appetizer orders. Now before you read further grab a napkin cause you’ll be drooling… For an appetizer we went with the Cajun Bayou Fondue and this is one of the best appetizers I have had in a long time. This dish was filled with fresh shrimp, crawfish, spinach, and baby portabella mushrooms in a Cajun fondue cream sauce with toasted Ciabatta bread. This dish was “slap ya mama” good!!! I would come back just for a beer and this appetizer!!! For the main courses we went with the Black Angus Ribeye topped with herbed sage butter and spinach plus the Portabellini Chicken that consisted of TWO marinated grilled chicken breasts over red mashed potatoes and smothered with sautéed baby portabella mushrooms in a roasted garlic red wine demi-glaze. The Ribeye was perfectly cooked and so tender you could cut it with a fork…delicious. The Portabellini Chicken with the red wine demi-glaze was really flavorful and for some would have been enough for two people. Bottom line…this place serves up delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere with great service. Everyone from the person greeting us when we came in to our waiter Gregory were outstanding. The price here is more middle of the road versus “bar” pricing, but as they say…you get what you pay for!

Google
I did a search for best places to eat around Brentwood and found this gem to try out. The shrimp pasta was amazing and filling. I can't believe I ate the whole dish but I couldn't stop since it was so good.

I’m from Georgia and was looking for a healthy place to eat for lunch. I used google maps to find a place that was nearby where I was. This place had almost 5 stars so I decided to go. There is hardly anything on the menu that’s healthy. I decided to go with the salmon with butter on the side and sweet potato fries. Maybe about 500 calories . The salmon was average so was were the fries. Cost $21. The fries were an extra $1. I could have gotten 2 grilled chick fil a chickens with fruit from Chick-fil-A for under $10. O well.

Ordered a Reuben sandwich. It came out on white bread. I asked why and was told they were out of Rye bread. Should have told me upfront. Very little kraut. I asked why and was told they were running low. Should have told me upfront. Server said she'd adjust the price, but didn't. $20 for a terrible sandwich and tea. Big mistake.

Google
Friend had the crawfish enchiladas which he really enjoyed. I had the vegetarian Tuscan pasta which was tasty. The asparagus was quite woody on the ends & inedible. The waiter also forgot the bread that comes with the pasta.

To me, this is an unusual place. It's called "café", but is really a straight-up restaurant. The food was fair to middlin', John our server was excellent and the place was unusually busy (according to the server) even though we were there on a Saturday. Again, the staff were prompt, informed and courteous but the food could use more attention to detail. We'd give it another try.

Yelp
Bricks has become one of my favorite places in Brentwood to stop for lunch. Located in a strip mall, it's a seat-yourself establishment that has a dark interior accented with funky bright paintings of popular singers. I am never disappointed with my pizza (the wood-fired goat cheese & bacon with chipotle honey & crispy crust is my go-to) or glass of wine. I'm so thankful for little gems like this that just make your day that much better! A huge shout out on this #ThankfulThursday to the sole waitress during a crazy busy lunch service! She never lost her cool, kept hustling, kept smiling & worked hard to deliver excellent customer service!

Casey D.

Yelp
Bricks is incredible. The staff is friendly, the food is consistent and delicious, and it's an easy spot to quickly grab dinner from or sit at the bar for a solo dinner date.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Went here this last Friday for dinner, was pleased that we didn't have to wait on a table. You seat yourself when you arrive. They like other restaurants are in need of additional staff. Even saying that, the staff there was fabulous and very friendly. They were attentive to refills and brought out the food timely. My husband loved his quesadilla! My son enjoyed his pizza and I had the pasta primavera with chicken. The chicken was good, but wasn't a fan of the rest. I might give the food a 3 star and service a 4-5.

Denice B.

Yelp
Nice local restaurant at affordable prices. Salad was fresh, the pasta dishes were good. The Gouda/Artichoke dip was a fancy queso - but the homemade chips made up for it.

Alicia E.

Yelp
Always enjoy dishes at Bricks's cafe! They have a wide range of menus options and house wine specials to try as well.

Yelp
My co-worker informed me that this pizza restaurant was really good so my husband and I went out with some couples to check it out. Sometimes what you hear is not true. The food was not good at all and the pizza sauce tasted rancid. The service was not much better in the least. Later I was informed that they will be closing in November. It doesn't surprise me after what I experienced.

Yelp
13 years living in Brentwood and we finally got around to trying Bricks. My wife had the salmon dish that seemed to keep appearing in her Facebook feed, and I had the grilled chicken Alfredo. Both were delicious to each of us and we plan to return very soon. The service was great as well.

Alex B.

Yelp
Delicious food, extremely kind staff. I had the filet mignonette and was more than satisfied with my choice. The steak was cooked very nicely with a savory demi-glacé sauce and topped with rich feta cheese and crispy fried onion. The flavors were perfect, and the two sides included (I chose the mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach) complimented the beef well. I went around closing time, yet the servers were so attentive and nice. Another restaurant might feel rushed as staff hurries to closing time, but this was not the case at Brick's, where my waitress was helpful and pleasant the whole time (shoutout to Beverley!) I can't speak for the other reviews, or their complaints about long wait times on busy weekend nights, but keep in mind that everywhere is a pretty short staffed right now. All I know is that I had a great experience dining here. Five stars.

Yelp
Fantastic Food! We recently had the pleasure of dining at Brick's Cafe with family out of town and we had a wonderful overall experience. From our waitress to our appetizers and entrees, this place serves us high quality fresh food. We had the hummus, guacamole, and spinach dip for appetizers and all three were very good. For our entrees we went with the Salmon Resolution Bowl, Grilled Shrimp Salad, and Salmon Salad. All of our dishes were prepared fresh and you can taste the wonderful quality in each dish. We will definitely be returning to Brick's as its one of the better meals we've had in the area. Thanks again!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
We had a nice lunch here... enjoyed the Cajun shrimp fondue appetizer first!! Would recommend it for a creamy, spiced, hearty dip to go on slices of bread. It's rich and filling in a delicious way. Then we had the Italian pizza- slice shown in the picture. It's satisfying with nice cheese and meats and mushrooms. Personally, I prefer a more doughy or crispy crust than the soft one we had. So I probably would not re-order the pizza. Our table-mate had a nice looking spinach salad with fried goat cheese that I got to try- that was yummy! I would be interested in their other salad offerings. The inside is chic for a strip center restaurant. Nice for a lunch out or a date! Reasonable staff. Solid experience!

Yelp
I wanted something different for my wife and I to celebrate our special day. Went by and had dinner at Brick's Brentwood. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed in the food and service. For such a long standing history we were wondering how it has stayed in business. We won't be coming back.

Bree H.

Yelp
Pretty average nothing that really tickles the taste buds but the customer service was nice we were well looked After and our drinks were never empty. I feel the prices were a little high for the food to be bland. The atmosphere was a mix of casual dinning and sports bar with low lights and foot ball on the tv. The pizza oven displayed for all to see is a very cool tough though. I will say there is also an off white butcher paper on top of each table I guess for easy clean up I wasn't a fan of it but could be great when you have kids they could color on it as they toss it out after each table leaves. Over all it was pleasant and enjoyable just bland food would be the worst complaint

Gordon S.

Yelp
Since this was close to our final shopping, we decided to try this out. We asked for a warm location and the hostess suggested a booth near the brick pizza oven, a good choice. The waiter appeared promptly, and verified that they had a diet, no-caffeine soda that my wife requested. I asked about the fruit tea and he offered, and quickly returned with a sample, which I liked and ordered. Despite our indecisiveness, the waiter returned several times and was attentive but not intrusive. My wife asked about a substitution and he said " no problem." Food arrived promptly and was quite good. My wife raved about the mashed potatoes, and her medallions and broccoli were properly done and tasty. My pasta dish was superb and so large that I brought half home. Her substitute second vegetable was an order of sweet potato fries that we both enjoyed. The standout was the waiter, a young man with a fine personality who chatted with us while keeping his eyes on his other customers. I tipped about 30% due to his friendly service. We'll definitely return when we're in the area.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Great menu, however we ordered Eggs Benedict, the eggs were cooked like hard boiled eggs. We will give this restaurant another try another day and update later!

Beth M.

Yelp
Another curbside pickup delight. Sometimes you just have to have a wonderful ultimate cheeseburger and fries from Bricks. The food is consistently good and we can't wait until we can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere again. We will continue to give Bricks our suppor

Yelp
Love this place - in town for 2 nights. Drove by this place while trying to find some take-out dinner. Walked in, GREAT service and so pleasant. Pizza was awesome and ready so quickly. This is def a repeat location.

Maria K.

Yelp
This place is like the cheesecake factory in Brentwood. I came here the other day and was completely amazed by their menu! It was huge! Food was great, service was good, and the prices were fair. I'll be back!

Kristofer G.

Yelp
Amazing service, and a southwest salad to go back for. After one visit, I consider my waiter Garret a friend. This is exactly why I support small business. I really didn't want to go to another chain. Fresh romain, perfectly seasoned chicken, and a spinach and cheese chimichanga topped with a bean/tomato mix. I am full from a salad!! Thanks to the staff for their kindness and attention to quality.

John H.

Yelp
I stopped by Brick's Cafe to grab some dinner and it was phenomenal. I wanted to try out a new place, and I'm glad I stopped here. They've got an incredible burger (Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger), and the fries hit the spot as well. I will definitely be back, and it's hard to imagine another place beating the burger I had here.

Melissa T.

Yelp
We picked up to go order. Chicken and mashed potatoes were really bland and the gravy was awful. My daughters chicken Caesar was wilted from sitting under the heater. Server was very unprofessional as well.

Will H.

Yelp
I've only been here a few times for lunch. I'm not sure if that's because I'm only ever in the area around that time, or if it's because I don't care to pay the dinner prices. This place, along with the other locations is a nice restaurant. It's not trying to be something it's not. I'm lead to believe that "Bricks Cafe" is named after the brick oven stove they have. I guess that's well enough true, but I ordered a pizza & was sitting by the brick oven stove, & I never saw my pizza go into the brick oven. I mean, it didn't say brick oven stove pizza on the menu, so I guess I really cannot complain. The lunch menu is where it's at. The prices are 7-14 dollars & the portions are reasonable. The dinner menu has a lot of the same but the prices are marked up. I know it's dinner & a fancy time to eat at night, but why charge so much more to eat in a strip mall where there's a pet store? Save your coins & go there for lunch. I ordered the (non brick oven) Italian pizza for $10. It's a large sized personal pizza with 8 slices. I also got a $2 Caesar salad that comes on a cup plate, but was flavorful. I could only eat 3 pieces of the pizza and took the rest home. A friend of mine got the house salad & was sad to see that it came with feta cheese (she can't eat because she's pregnant or something) & diced red peppers. Those ingredients were not listed on the menu. She also got chicken tortilla soup that looked more like chili. She wasn't happy. My boyfriend had the fish tacos, which are pretty spicy, although the menu doesn't tell you that. The fries are battered in something & amazing! Do yourself a favor & go to lunch here. Get a pizza or a plate of fries.

Bill F.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and generally love the food but this last visit was not good. Super slow service and not attentive at all and the place was practically empty. The food was not up to snuff either this time. We always get the Spinach dip and it had little flavor. Not sure I'll be back.

John T.

Yelp
Ok I'm not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from but I ate dinner here tonight. The place was crowded and a little noisy but the service was excellent and the food was outstanding. The only compliant I have is the focaccia bread. Too expensive for the amount you get, but even at that it was excellent. I had the blackened chicken pasta and my dinner companion had the cheesy parmesan chicken pasta. Both were cooked al dente and the chicken and seasonings where spot on on both. The dinner pricing was reasonable for the amount of food, trust me I'm a big eater if I say the potion was a good size it was big. Tip and all dinner was less than $45.00 and I was full and that's no small feat in this day and age.

John S.

Yelp
Excellent choices, diverse menu, nice happy hour, and great service make this a fantastic venue for dinner. I enjoy bringing my kids here because they can draw on the tables, plus have a lot of choices for different foods they like. The alcohol selection is excellent, and does not break the bank. If in Brentwood, this should be considered top of the list for all around great places to eat for any occasion.

Ruth B.

Yelp
This place has some of the best food and service I've ever had. It was our first time here so we got three dishes just to try things out and we planned to take most home....we had to force ourselves to stop eating.

Sylvia L.

Yelp
Woodfired pizza? Tasted more like frozen pizza with toppings added. I saw the oven, but it might be just for show? Disappointed.

Scott H.

Yelp
We came as a family and all of our meals were delivered at different times. My three kids were finished before the waiter came to tell me the chef made my meal wrong TWICE! I was wondering why the restaurant was empty when we arrived! Come at your own risk!

Howard L.

Yelp
Dirty, dark and I swear they microwaved my fettucine alfredo. It was so soupy, overcooked and boiling hot when they served it to me that there is no other explanation. I did not try the salads but they looked fine.

Megan S.

Yelp
Dirty. There was visible dust on the walls and it felt grimy all over. There was a cloud of smoke over the whole restaurant-- it was like they burned something in the kitchen. I thought it would go away, but the smell & smoke only got worse. Apparently everything was "pre-made" so there were no substitutions or alterations to the dishes. (I'm totally fine with no substitutions, but the fact that it was premade is kind of gross). Total lack of atmosphere-- just felt dirty, dark, and burnt. Ew.

Tom B.

Yelp
So slow I will never attempt to eat here again. I don't know how this company makes any money making they're customers wait as long as they do.

Gregory H.

Yelp
This was an amazing lunch. Highly recommend the rattlesnake pasta it has a nice kick to it. Make sure you ask for Charlsie, she is awesome. I will be back for sure.

Nillie B.

Yelp
My husband and I were there for lunch yesterday. We both got food poisoning! So sick... Bad service and bad food. I do don't recommend it.

Jill L.

Yelp
Food was ok and service was fine, but I felt so sorry for our waitress. She had a table next to ours that appeared to be 2 middle aged couples and a teenage boy. One of the husbands repeatedly touched her arms and back, all the while referring to her as "sugar" and "honey". She was clearly uncomfortable. I wish we had alerted management or she had elbowed him or thrown his wine in his lap. This is a family restaurant, not some strip club. Management there should do a better job of protecting their waitstaff from pervs. No one should have to put up with some idiot patron pawing and sexually harassing her.

David C.

Yelp
Great service wonderful staff. Family atmosphere great for the kids. Had the chicken/goat cheese pizza. It's thin crust, and good. Crust is light, thin, crisp, and tasty. Small selection of drafts, a couple of locals then the normal bla, bla, bla(that's the only reason for the 4 & not 5 Star so this is strictly my choice).

Julie M.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Normally the service and food are fine, but today it took forever for a waiter to even come to the table even though the restaurant was practically empty. We had to ask to receive our salads and when they came out they were hot and the pastas were bland. Do not recommend and will not be coming back.

Jolene T.

Yelp
We went in mid day on a week day so it was pretty slow but the food was definitely delicious. I would go back here agains as there were a few things on the menu that I would like to try. Our waitress was cute and talkative and gave great recommendations! So, why only 4 stars? Because we ordered dessert first, as we typically do, and the waitress did not bring us our dessert. She ignored the request until the end of the meal she when we didn't want it anymore. We wanted it at the beginning, when we asked for it. Oh well, next time we will order dessert only and then ask for the menus back.

Mika H.

Yelp
Soooo I went to this restaurant specifically to try the Shrimp/Asparagus/Bacon "risotto" it was $17....money completely wasted. I also got the Vodka Sour which had an off putting taste. I couldn't put my finger on it but it tasted like a melted throat lozenge. I drank it so not to waste my friends money. Back to the "risotto", I've had risotto once before at a different restaurant and this "risotto" is not a creamy risotto at alllllll. I've never seen risotto this dry like regular white rice. It tasted no different than 5 minute success rice with unseasoned shrimp and bacon. The bacon is all you tasted. It overpowered the shrimp and smidge of cheese. The cheese was all I smelled initially and it wasn't a pleasant smell at all. I couldn't even finish it. I never ever leave that much food at a restaurant but I didn't see the point in taking something home that I wasn't going to eat. Very very disappointing. To the chef..Risotto should be creamy and soft and flavorful. The only "creamyishness" on top came from the foul smelling teaspoon of cheese. Once that was removed it was a pile of blah dry rice. This was a miss. The drink was a miss. The service was ok. I don't think I'll be back. Sorry.

Megan W.

Yelp
I've been to this location several times, but not whilst I've been a Yelp member, so yeah. I've always had good experiences here, nothing I could boldly complain about. The service is always pretty good, nothing exceptional, but the waitresses are friendly and I like the atmosphere...though I could stand for it to be a bit lighter in here. This time I went with my family around 8:30 (they close at 9) and I got their BBQ Chicken Pizza sans everything but the BBQ and the chicken (non-dairy girl here). The food came out pretty quickly (one plus of not having cheese and a bunch of other stuff on pizza) and everyone seemed to enjoy what they got. The BBQ sauce on my pizza had a bit of peppercorn in it so it was a bit 'spicy', but nothing worth chugging a cup of water for. Half of the crust on my pizza was a little black, but I think that must have been the part closer to the fire? Hah. Nevertheless, it was good as far as BBQ chicken pizza goes and I'm looking forward to my leftover slices tomorrow. My grandmother got their Chicken Tortilla soup and it looked yummy; I'm definitely going to have to go back and try it! Oh yeah, and I never got the feeling that the staff was waiting for us to leave (though my grandad did mention something about it, hah), which is nice because even though you want to enjoy your food no matter where you are and what time it is, I do understand that the servers have been on their feet for a while and want to go home (former server here). Props to them for being so cheery! Five stars would require the pizza not being black on one side.

Ryan O.

Yelp
I've been to this location once before. I would have rated that experience about 3 stars. I hate giving out bad reviews but my experience tonight was nothing like my first. My party of two arrived around 6:45. There were a few people waiting in line ahead of us. I gave my name to one of the hostesses, she put it on the list, and then we waited. I noticed a lot of people left and there were plenty of open seats, but we were still waiting. It was busy, but not packed. I'd say the restaurant was about 60% full. We waited 15 minutes at which time we were the only party waiting. At the end of that 15 minutes, another party of two arrived. They walked up to a different hostess and she said she could seat them right away. As the hostess grabbed the menus, the couple asked her about us, at which time I spoke up and said yes we had been waiting. She seemed confused, but very awkwardly told us to follow her to a table. At this point I was willing to chalk up the issue to a lack of communication between the hostesses. No big deal. So we were seated. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. At this point the restaurant is about 50% full so they were definitely not overwhelmed. In the span of 20 minutes no one ever arrived to even greet us. We watched one party of two arrive, get service, and get their drinks. In the entire time I never once spoke up or complained about any of this because honestly, I shouldn't have to. When the second party of two arrived and were immediately given service, we politely walked out then went next door to five guys. It's sad that I have to put this out here but I have a hard time ever seeing myself going back to this establishment.

Yelp
My family recently dined at Bricks Cafe for the first time. We really enjoyed our food. I had delicious blackened fish tacos. My little one had the chicken tenders, which I must say were yummy. Our waitress, Ashley, did a great job too. Happy Sharing Spree made the recommendation :)

Juliet H.

Yelp
When I travel I like to find a family friendly restaurant with a bar where I can sit and eat and not have anyone bother me. A local coworker recommended Bricks and it fit that bill to a T. The waitress was friendly - I don't know if carding me was a ploy to make me like her bit it didn't hurt. She made several recommendations when I asked for suggesting on something that might be light. I ended up going with one of her suggestions, the Tuscan pasta. The pasta was cooked well with tomatoes, artichokes, pine nuts, feta cheese and Cajun seasoned chicken in a white wine olive oil sauce. The chicken was the one disappointment in an otherwise tasty dish.... It was a little dry and didn't really need the Cajun seasoning. Overall it was a pleasant dinner on the road a D if I am in the area again I would come back.

Mike K.

Yelp
Yumm, this place used to have different owners I think. It closed for a while, they made some changes and reopened about a year ago I guess. The service has greatly improved and the food is delicious. They have some great appetizers, try the bacon wrapped char grilled scallops. I usually get one of their gourmet pasta dishes and my g/f snags a brick oven pizza. They have a great selection of gourmet & traditional Italian, seafood and American foods. They also have a nice patio for outside dining.

Travis B.

Yelp
Its been a while since we had eaten at Brick's Cafe, more than a year I would guess, now I remember why. Brick's, based off the name, is supposed to be primarily a pizza place, but the menu certainly does not support that. What is the identity of this place? Living in Brentwood, this is just another bland establishment, lacking any concern for a decent draught selection (Yuengling is not a good beer people), the overall atmosphere of the establishment is nothing special either, there are clearly a lot of regulars there on a Friday, everyone seemed to know everyone, which is cool. That said, what a disappointment from a taste, service and value standpoint. We split a pizza, BBQ chicken, which comes on a frozen cardboard crust. This place really takes advantage of there pizza oven, nothing says fresh and tasty like a Tombstone! Compiled with our frozen pie, was a pitiful ceasar salad. It was closer to a slaw consistency, slimy, willowed greens. I don't recommend! Erin didn't have a drink, I had a Sierra, when we were all said and done it was $31, not too expensive for a decent meal, but this was not decent, it sucked. We will not be returning to Brick's, IMO, if you cannot figure out a menu, which has continuity in a specific cuisine, I don't care to eat there because 9 times out of 10 nothing is ever good, I.E. Mexican and Italian never should be on the same menu! If your happy with Bud Light and bland food, check it out, this brick's is for you!

Susan D.

Yelp
Love the wood fired pizza--a true art and flawlessly done here. Truly a fun, family restaurant. Different than the typical chain found in Brentwood, Brick's is unique. They took care to show our teenagers how to cook the pizzas. We met the owners on another outing and they are a lovely, local couple who are making a difference in their community.

Lashona M.

Yelp
I ate here for lunch one day after a fun filled day shopping in the T.J. Maxx near by! (best T.J. Maxx in all of Nashville and surrounding areas by the way) Delicious salmon salad with fruity salsa, blue chesse crumbs, and strawberry vinagerette! The price was moderate, food had a great presentation and atmosphere was cozy! Great place to go on a date and chime in on the conversation or if your like me, single, dining as one always works! :)

Robert U.

Yelp
This place is weird. I have been here three times. It's inconsistent. The menu is too big - what is the specialty? Is this casual dining? Why the fancy table-clothes? I ordered some sort of southwest burger with guacamole on it. I waited. When it came, the huge blob of guac was ice cold, and so, my burger got cold, too. Gross. Does this place think it's fine dining? It's crazy expensive for what it really is. Ruby Tuesday across the street is better.

Lindsay J.

Yelp
I'm so excited to have found this place! We will never have the conversation in our house again that goes: "Wanna get something to eat?" "Mmhmm." "What do you feel like?" "Dunno. You?" "Dunno." Obviously, we're pretty well spoken around here. The good news is, that pot of intellegence will recur with much less frequency. Bricks seems to cover all the food bases: Sandwiches, salads, pizzas, pastas, meat entrees, etc. On our first visit, I ordered the Margarita pizza and my husband had the Rattlesnake Pasta. We agreed that everything was great, and both took home half our dish for dinner the next day. We ordered two house salads, and while my husband said he'd skip that step in the future, I thought it was great. Any place that puts feta cheese on the appetizer salad wins with me. We plan on being regulars at Brick's. We will not be the couple holding the MENSA meeting in the corner.

Um...YUM!!! Your Fried Goat Cheese Salad is incredible. I've become a bit of a salad snob and really appreciate a salad prepared just for me, AFTER I have ordered it (not one waiting in the refrigerator for me). The warm chicken and goat cheese over the veggie spring mix will make sure I return here for a repeat performance. The attentive service, clean restrooms and Motown jams playing in the background round out my lovely afternoon experience.
