"Misty waterfalls are like unicorns in the landlocked, high-and-dry state of Colorado. This particular one is a dead-ringer for its namesake, as it cascades over and down sheer vertical cliffs, looking as delicate as nuptial lace. At 365 feet high, it also happens to be the largest waterfall inColorado. For a prime view, say “I do!” to the 1.8-mile hike to the top, where a historic power plant overlooks the evergreen-studded landscape, or rent a bike to explore the car-free trails in Bridal Veil basin."

The falls on the way actually seemed better. The spray and mud made it hard to enjoy. But the hike there was awesome.

If you're in Telluride and up for a rewarding outdoor adventure, don't miss Bridal Veil Falls. This stunning waterfall is Colorado's tallest free-falling falls and truly a sight to behold up close. While you can see both Bridal Veil Falls and Ingram Falls from the main parking lot at a distance, the real magic happens when you make the trek to the base. The Trail Hike (1.12 miles one way from the lot): We took the rocky trail from the main parking lot straight to the base of the falls. It’s a moderate to hard hike — steep in sections and covered with loose rocks. If you're not physically prepared, this can be challenging. I saw many people struggling on the trail, especially without water or snacks. Take my advice: bring water and an energy bar — it’s not optional. Parking can get crowded quickly, so expect to park along the road if you arrive later in the day. Pro Tip: Take the Easier Route Up If you want a more comfortable ascent, consider walking up Bridal Veil Road (CR69). This unpaved road is about 1.5 miles from the lot to the falls. It’s a gentle incline — much easier on the legs and heart — and offers some beautiful views of Telluride and nearby Ingram Falls. Vehicles occasionally pass by, but overall, it’s a peaceful walk. My Recommended Route: Hike up via the Bridal Veil Road (CR69) for easier climbing and great lookout points. Hike down via the rocky trail, which is much more manageable going downhill and allows you to see Lower Bridal Veil and Penny Falls along the way. The Falls: Up close, the falls are absolutely breathtaking. Mist from the powerful water cools the area, so expect to get slightly wet if you venture near the base. Totally worth it! Final Thoughts: This hike was one of the most rewarding experiences I had in Telluride. Challenging, yes — but incredibly beautiful. If you're in decent shape and love a good adventure, don't miss it. If you're unsure about the climb, just take the road route. Either way, Bridal Veil Falls is a must-see.

We lost our GoPro Max with a black aluminum GoPro handle today near the top of Bridal Veil Falls. We were so excited to take a 360° picture with my husband and our dog to celebrate finishing the hike, but we realized it was missing when we were about to head back down. If you happened to find it or know someone who did, please reach out to GoPro, they have my info. we’re offering a reward and would be so grateful for its return. Thank you so much!

I did not make it to the largest waterfall base you need a four-wheel drive to get up higher. But water will fall we hike to was quite beautiful and worth it it was a moderate hike.

One of my favorite waterfall hikes in Colorado! We hiked it Memorial Day weekend, still snowy patches on the trail. There were 4 waterfalls along this trail. We hiked the trail up, and hiked the road back down. Definitely check it out early, parking lot fills up! Port-a-potty’s in parking lot

Really worth the hike, you can drive up here with 4*4 vehicle. The water is pretty cold and it sits in a shadow alot of the day .. super magical though, there can be many people

Plenty of parking on the sides, bathrooms at the top, 1 mile total going up and it's pretty quick. The path is clean and mostly shaded. Near the waterfalls it's muddy and cool. There are a total of 3 waterfalls. Going up by vehicle is possible without 4x4, 4WD, or AWD. You just need a high clearance vehicle of 7 inch or more, and be careful going up the first two turns. Go wide to the lower clearance areas.

Gorgeous hike with 2 additional waterfalls before you get to Bridal Veil Falls. It is somewhat steep and rocky, so wear good shoes. We hiked the trail to the falls and then back to the parking area. We also drove up the road to the turnaround area to get a better look at the Hydro Power Structure. It's such a beautiful area that's pretty popular. Gorgeous hike, especially with the fall colors.
