Food is pretty good and was served relatively quickly. There is plenty of up front seating as well as an extra room to sit in. Only downside is it’s cash only.

Cool retro style, really clean, simple but satisfying food! Big ice creams to go or eat in and the menu has all the traditional offerings of a diner. But my favorite is the chicken caesar wrap with fries (very similar to McDonald’s fries)! 4 stars only because they miss some menu updates like coffee (you can’t get latte’s or anything with espresso); cash only (minus points for inconvenience even though they have an ATM on site); efficient and nice not overly happy service.

This is a charming throwback diner. Nothing here was bad but nothing was what it was supposed to be. We got the egg white omelette with veggies and the western omelette with a coffee cake on the side. The veggie omelette had raw onions which just overwhelms your taste buds so good luck tasting anything else. The western omelette was just a small simple omelette. The side potatoes were like they were just about to go into perogies, again not bad just off. The coffee cake was a vanilla sheet cake with a cinnamon bisque mix on top, the trend continues here. All in all not bad just definitely not worth the $40.

A time warp to simpler times. Superb home made ice creams. Good fries to go with the ice cream. Old fashioned dinner style seating and decor. Loved it!

Customer service was fine. But the Deluxe burger for $25 is really bad. Like poor diner bad. And frozen bag fries with a square of sad barely melted cheese. Bacon was a crusty lump. Ice Cream was ok. Nothing to go again for.

Enjoyed lunch in this venue from yesteryear, with legit counter service. Comfortable booth, seated promptly, and friendly greeting from Mauricio, a fantastic server (see photo) -- who made excellent recommendations. Souvlaki in a pita was fresh tasting, loaded with tender, well-seasoned chicken, and a greek salad with soft feta cheese. I also had lentil soup, served at a proper (hot) temperature. Yum! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Coffee chip ice cream cone for desert was homemade deliciousness in a sugar cone. And, one of my friends had a root beer float that looked fantastic, and he really enjoyed it. Wonderful lunch. Ignore the grumpy and negative reviews. Good value for the Hamptons in my opinion.

So I went to the children's museum out in Bridgehampton and saw this place along the way. It looked super cute and had decent reviews for ice cream. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch - it's cash only. I was going to order a quesadilla but it only came with chicken and cheese, nothing else, and was $18+. I guess you're in the Hamptons, so it's expensive, but I just couldn't see myself spending this kind of money on a quesadilla. We ordered 1 scoop of chocolate with m&ms for my daughter and I got a 2 scoop with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. My bill was $28. I find this insane. I get that we're in the Hamptons but the ice cream wasn't even that good, mediocre at best. The place also had a horrible smell to it. Old, dingy and smelled like a public restroom.

A down home old candy store/luncheonette with its typical diverse menu, reasonable (non-Hampton) prices and all the charm you remember as a kid. A counter, rotating stools, booths, candy and ice cream complete the childhood culinary symphony. Try it and enjoy.

Step into Candy Kitchen, an enchanting eatery with a delightful, nostalgic charm. The quaint booths and amiable staff create a welcoming atmosphere. While the food falls short of culinary excellence, the cashier/owner's demeanor left much to be desired. Regrettably, the establishment only accepts cash, and the reaction to unfamiliarity with this policy was notably unpleasant.

Solid diner experience at the Candy Kitchen. Noticed at least a few regulars come through, so nice to see it's a spot that locals enjoy as well as tourists. The coffee was hot, the BLT was crunchy, and the sundae was lovely in its old-fashioned sundae glass.

I had the Candy Kitchen Salad and enjoyed it very much. I needed something light and if it the spot. I also had the strawberry milk shake but had it with skim milk and it was amazing. Tasty and the strawberry ice cream was delicious. My friend had the banana shake with skim milk and fresh bananas. That was really really good!!!

I have fond memories of this place as a child. The pistachio ice cream is to die for! My favorite memory is when my father sat me down at the age of 7 and promised me that I would one day become CEO of the family company. I'm still working on that, but I like to visit from time to time and have an ice cream and stare longingly into the sunset thinking of what my life has become.

Perfect place for a bite, but more importantly for the ice cream. It was up there, top three ever for me. You can dine in with warm and patient service. They have enough staff, and are very nice to you. Having left Montauk where it seems the town gave up, it was a pleasure and a joy to have such a perfect experience at Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton.

It was pretty good. I had peppermint and it was very tasty, though a little icy. I'll cut them some slack since it's not only the off-season, but middle of winter too. It's an adorable place, olde-timey with a soda fountain counter and charming walk-up window. I'll definitely come back when the weather is warmer and try again.

Fond memories of this place, like when I was 7 and my father promised to name me heir to his multinational corporation. Good times.

4 stars for the lovely staff and delicious house made Ice cream! But sadly 3 stars for the food... So really a 3.5 for my overall experience. Food is mediocre so don't bother thinking you'll have lunch here and then the ice cream... Just go with the ice cream.

The Candy Kitchen is a dependable diner in an area without many affordable places to eat out. I really enjoy a stress-free eating experience in Bridgehampton. It's also a joyful, classic ice cream experience. Dropping by a cute old-style candy counter for some really high quality ice cream is such a joy. It's locally owned and family-run by people who love to be there.

This place was established the same year my mother was born, she used to tell me stories of hanging out and people watching. When I was younger I used to spend the summers on my grandmother's potato farm I have good memories of the milk shakes there, My wife and I will be in Bridgehampton next week. Will definitely stop in

Came here on a very cold day right after getting off the bus - it's super convenient across the street from the BH drop off location. I always thought this spot was only ice cream so was pleasantly surprised to find out that they have a full diner menu with a lot of Mediterranean options. I opted for the chicken salad over lettuce, my husband got the pastrami and eggs and my parents for the beef gyro. Mine was a very large portion so I took home leftovers but it definitely hit the spot. My husbands pastrami and eggs was a surprisingly small portion compared to the rest of our plates but he said it was delicious nonetheless. Next time I want to get the gyro! I didn't realize how large this place is! I always thought it was tiny but it has a huge back dining room! Also - cash only but they have an ATM up front.

The Candy Kitchen is the gold standard for breakfast and lunch in Bridgehampton . The owner of Gus is always on hand and it will ensure you have a great meal. This old-school Greek diner/ice cream parlor is not to be missed.The breakfasts are just amazing. Eggs done to perfection, delicious omelettes. Pancakes and waffles are a specialty . if you want the best Greek salad in the Hamptons and probably Long Island I suggest you have it there. with or without chicken it is a meal in itself served with pita bread. order a side of the homemade Tazaki to go with your salad. Sandwiches, burgers , chili are all first rate . The owner Gus ensures that you will have great service. The friendly staff will attend to all your needs . Just bring cash , no credit cards. Make sure if you're in the Bridgehampton area to stop in the Candy kitchen.

Very good ice cream! I've seen this place so many times of my years coming out here and always wanted to go. Staying at topping rose I sent my hubs right over after dinner to get us some shakes :) So delicious. Cash only. Adorable inside (from pictures I made him take lol)

Cute little place with lots of doors. Inside is classically painted white and blue. Has a retro/nautical vibe. I had the Manhattan clam chowder which was ok and then lobster over a tossed salad. The salad was bland so I added hot sauce but the lobster was very delicious. I highly recommend! Our waiter was very attentive and had a big grin on his face while serving us the entire time, so no complaints there! Just need to actually try the ice cream next time

A good ice cream shoppe, I can see why it's iconic. It brings me back to Greek diner roots, especially seeing the soup of the day, "chicken orzo." They make great sundaes and their ice cream is delicious. They were out of cherry vanilla, but the pistachio and mint chip was dynamite. I will return, thank you for the food memory!

The ice cream is not the issue. The ice cream is wonderful and home made but how the workers treated us made us feel like we were bothering them and then they turned off the light when we were still eating because they were closing. It's so sad that a place that's been around so long has become like this. I was so excited to take my daughter and now will never go back.

Got a pistachio cone here, generous serving size for the area, and it had a creamy, mild flavor. There were fluorescent green stringy things present in the ice cream in addition to pistachio chunks, so I was slightly put off by that. But a cute place with decent prices and friendly service, a nice spot to get a scoop. Cash only but they have an ATM inside.

My ice cream was delicious thanks the young lady that works behind the counter was craving coconut and pineapple help me make my mind up so I got the coconut mix with marshmallow chocolate ugh if I'm in that area I'll pick up some more goods thank you

Decent ice cream. I had the mint chocolate chip and it was good but it had that green tint, which means they dye it. I'd say it's akin to Breyers. Also, it was a little pricey, but you definitely get a lot so I'd say it's worth it. Friendly service. Cash only.

TL;DR: Nothing earth shattering here. Cash only. Homey food. Lots of kids. (shrug) If you like diners, it's fine. Shoulda got ice cream. Anyway, we rode the bike out to the Hamptons today because it was the first bit of nice weather we've had. We remembered that our first experience at Candy Kitchen wasn't bad (ages ago, we brought the parents out to Montauk and we saw Ina Garten eating here, pretty neato), so we gave it another go. 11:30ish on a Sunday and there was no wait for a party of two; we were seated in the back room, which seems to be where they seat everyone that has kids. So, beware if you don't like kids. (Didn't bother us, just throwing it out there in case you want a more quiet dining experience..) Service was okay- waitress was friendly, and got to us fast initially, but once our food was dropped we never saw her again until we asked for our check. We both opted for lunch- Picky Pete got chicken souvlaki with pita and greek salad. The chicken was "just okay" (no further details, I asked..) but he reported that the salad dressing was fantastic. I agree that it was because since he's picky, I got to eat all the olives off of his salad. I got a chicken salad sammich and a cup of chicken orzo soup. The soup was homey. And by homey, I mean bland. It was fixed by saltines and salt. But it was warm and I was hungry. My sandwich though was good- adequate pile of chicken salad, nicely toasted bread, and they even put mayo on the toast to keep it moist- nice move. Served with a pickle. That's all she wrote. Two sodas, cup o' soup, sammich, and his salad/souvlaki plate- $35 before tip. Shoulda got ice cream....

Terrifying! Is it 1950 or 2018? Nothing edible on the menu! I don't think. They've ever heard the word vegan. Yikes!

Friendly local feel. Generous portions and delicious huge beef gyros! There is a nice dining room off the back so don't be put off if at first look, no open tables in front. Free Coke refill. Very reasonable prices.

So this is right off the jitney stop in Bridgehampton. I was not too impressed by this place. The service was a bit snarky, but in the end we got what we asked for. The food was all just OK. The chocolate pancakes were fine, but not as good as one would have expected. The french toast was also just OK. Coffee was bottomless. The ambience is better in the front room. A more classic diner feel.

Had to take a minute from my day just to say how delicious breakfast was this morning. Thank you! And, the crumb cake we took to go.............well, that was beyond expectations! Our waitress was lovely and your "Shop" is just so quaint and clean. We always look forward to stopping in as we journey west from The End.

This seems to be the historic diner where families go generation after generation. The prices were good, considering you're in the Hamptons, the food was okay but the wait was unbelievably long, and the coffee cups were very small. -Do not come here of you're in a rush

A cute classic diner establishment that we stumbled upon an afternoon adventure. We enjoyed our ritual of afternoon ice cream, ordering the chocolate for my wife. I couldn't decide between the peach or blueberry, so they said I should just put both together! Brilliant :) Wonderful staff, makes the place warm and inviting. Tasty ice cream in a nice throwback stools-at-the-counter joint. For some reason the chocolate tasted underwhelming and not homemade (too sweet/processed), but the others tasted more creamy and authentic to their original fruit. Oh Hamptons prices never cease to frustrate me, but a fun afternoon snack break nonetheless :)

The service is amazing! The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. They have an incredibly personable staff and owners...totally family friendly. The ice cream is the best around, and the huge selection food is very well priced, large portions and delicious...my absolute favorite!!

We just wanted to stop in for a bite, nothing fancy. Our waitress came and immediately set a bad tone as she huffed and puffed about us not knowing what we wanted to order yet although we asked for another minute. She came back and gave us some more hostilities because we were deciding between what kind of pancakes we wanted to share. It then devolved into never seeing her for refills because we simply pointed out her behavior. We live in the city, we get it --- my wife is a chef and certainly understands the difficulties. But to go above and beyond the call of duty in making your patrons worry more about your behavior than the food on the menu is uncalled for.

Loved this place! Step back in time and just occasionally look around...I felt like I was going to see Michael J. Fox walk thru the doors, just like he did in "Back to the Future." I've been here for breakfast and "just a taste" of their ice cream after lunch across the street. That "taste" turned out to be 3 different scoops later! The homemade ice cream was AWESOME! Stop and enjoy this special local joint and indulge your childhood appetite, this place is worth every cent and calorie.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friend and I came in here for food and were waiting next to a table for it to be cleaned. After waiting for the table to be cleaned for about 7 minutes, as we stood awkwardly next to it, we asked the waitress if someone was going to clean the table, and she rudely dismissed us saying the table would be cleaned. My friend proceeded to sit down at the table, like a completely normal person would do, and we overheard the waitress loudly talk shit about us to her coworker saying, "who the fuck would sit at a dirty table?" We were absolutely shocked, considering we had done absolutely nothing besides entering the establishment and waiting to be seated. Once seated, the waitress brought us place settings and napkins and pretended to be sweet to us. Once she walked away, she proceeded to walk up to another coworker and talk shit about us AGAIN, explaining what just happened, how my friend sat down at the dirty table while we were waiting for it to be cleaned... Wow! Who would ever sit down at a table that they were about to eat a meal at?!?!?! What a horrible and completely obscene thing for someone to do. Anyways, we left before we even ordered any food. If you're thinking about coming to this place... do NOT. Unless, of course, you want to be helped by staff that is bitter and disrespectful for absolutley no reason. But then again, if I was 40-years-old wearing bright blue eyeshadow and fake eyelashes waitressing at a shitty restaurant the day after the 4th of July, maybe I would act like a constipated bitch, too. God bless America.

A great place to teach your kids about food in the 1950s. No trendy food here. Need I say more. I love this place. The Candy Kitchen still draws the famous of the Hamptons. Things not to miss: Ice Cream sodas, well done french fries, the Country Salad, any omelet. Every morning paper. Good selection of candy. Perfect waitresses. And best of all Rude New Yorkers being ignored by the perfect waitresses as the bratty kids run all over the place.

One of the greatest places on Earth. So classic and all of the food is fantastic! Great service from management to ownership. I hope the Candy Kitchen lives on forever.

Excellent place for brunch. Fresh ingredients, freshly cooked and very friendly environment. Homemade ice cream is a must. Delicious!

I came here yesterday morning for brunch with my mom. We sat down and were greeted by a happy waitress who was so kind with whatever we needed. My mom had an egg and asked specifically that it wasn't runny. She's not a picky eater, but runny eggs are one of the plates she dislikes the most. I had chocolate chip pancakes (because why not?). Breakfast was served promptly and our waitress came back multiple times to see if we needed more coffee or juice, or just anything in general. My pancakes were spot on and delicious. My mother's eggs however... were runny. It may seem strange that she decided to keep them, but we had a day to fill with activities and we both wanted to get on with the day. Mid breakfast, the booths started filling up and the energy kept growing. I knew walking in that this would be a cute family diner. Don't get me wrong, it has a certain welcoming feel to it that you can't get everywhere. However, me and my mom decided to finish brunch early because of the atmosphere created by other patrons. There were kids screaming all around the whole diner, running around, and disrupting our once perfect breakfast. I understand how hard it is to take young kids out. And knowing that, I wouldn't care if a baby started to cry a little bit or if there were some rowdy kids in the corner just trying to keep themselves busy. But this was a whole new level. I could barely think straight. With a family diner, comes families with kids. The food was great and the service was warm and friendly. Just don't expect to have a quiet, peaceful brunch.

Spent $14 for 2 Coffee Chip ice cream shakes, which tasted mainly of milk. Not a very appetizing treat when it made you feel nauseated after consuming the shake:(

The place was half full when we arrived looking for a table for four and we were told to sit at a tiny booth that was not big enough for two. When we told the host we would not fit at the table he insisted we could fit and had to sit there. What planet is that guy on? Been here before, the food is bland. Go for the ice cream. Or, go if you want a hard time.

I give this 5 stars because of many factors: service, the fact that the owner is there more often than not making sure everything is perfect, the food, the ambiance, and the fact that it is kid-friendly. So many breakfasts, so many memories. Despite the fact that we seem to order the same thing all the time, it's always superb. Except the coffee. That could use some work. But the food: perfectly poached eggs, every time, on perfectly done hash (crisp on the outside, hot and tasty on the inside)....then a recent lunch with kids and parent/friends....every one of 8 sandwiches was outstanding...the french fries thin and crisp...the kids were delighted with the chicken fingers...all in all a very happy place to count on. Cash only.

This place is so overrated. Granted the French toast had good flavor, but it was three tiny pieces of bread that were thinner than an 17 year old super model wannabe. And now let's talk about that server. She was bitchier than a 17 year old super model wannabe! My wife, who is not a native English speaker (but excellent in English) asked a few questions because she didn't hear the options, and this girls response was so rude! I'm kinda glad she disappeared for about an hour after the food was served so we didn't have to deal with the 'tude she was spewing.

Stopped by for a late breakfast one morning. I got French toast which was decent but a little wet for my taste. I didn't care for the sausage but ate it anyway. We were going to come back for a sundae later but figured since it was tipping toward 11am, we were there and on vacation, we'd just get dessert after breakfast. Don't judge me. Well, we both kind of wish we'd skipped it. While we appreciate homemade ice cream, all 4 different flavors between us had a lot of ice going on in there. I wouldn't steer people away but we probably won't go back.

Damn their cute old fashioned signage! Yeah, we too, fell for that nostalgic Main-Street-Disneyland-ice-cream-parlor-look. This was such a disappointment all around from their weird, awkward customer service (if you wanna call it that), to the dirty, unkept condition of the interior, to the false promise of it being a "candy kitchen" as advertised in the window aaaaaaaand of their terrible "homemade" ice cream. First off, being old school is awesome, but that doesn't mean you don't have to clean or dust, EVER. It's seriously gross inside. I didn't want to touch or sit on anything since it looks like the last time anyone had taken a mop or rag to the place was during prohibition. Second, there was no candy being made or any traces of a kitchen producing any such thing. I was expecting a white-haired old lady in a bonnet and ruffle apron stretching taffy or rolling truffles or heck, dipping strawberries in chocolate. But no. Their candy selection was in the form of boxed and packaged name brands like m&ms, skittles, and wrigleys spearmint gum. Was this a joke?! Not only was that a total tease, but the store-bought selection was super sh-tty. This place makes 7-11 look like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Thirdly... The ice cream situation. Not happening folks. Maybe it's because we came during the slow season before summer officially hit, but the ice cream had not been freshly made... In probably months! Now, I'm not unreasonable... I understand that if business is slow, it doesn't make sense to make new batches of multiple flavors daily when it's barely selling. I get it, nor do I expect it. But when the ice cream literally has ice on it and is freezer burned, it should not be given to customers or any human for that matter. They take this 'old' vibe a little too seriously. It's unfortunate, considering their long list of flavors is pretty exciting. I got banana and once I got past the fuzzy icy parts, the flavor was actually good. The customer service was also a joke. Totally unprofessional, half-ass, and they could not care less. Two of the employees sat at the countertop, shooting the breeze and we're not in any sort of uniform... Did they even work here? I was skeptical giving the guy my cash when he finally got off his lazy butt to scoop our garbage and ring us up. If I worked in a ice cream/ candy shop, I would be high off sugar and super friendly and jolly. Then again, this place isn't exactly either of those things. Bottom line- this place is an old ass, dirty diner (I would NEVER order food here!) with second rate employees and disappointing ice cream. Oh yeah, and no candy! Boo!

I can't believe all these good reviews. The 3 time I went was my last. Mediocre overpriced food, weird smell in the premises. Highly overrated. Cash only.
