"Winthrop restaurant Bridges Nepali Cuisine aims to bridge (get it?) communities “through food, spices, and art.” On the food side, there are chicken or vegetable momos, available steamed (with or without chile sauce), or pan-fried, alongside a variety of other Nepali dishes." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

this place is a GEM! Everything was SO GOOD! The mango lassi, the roti, the momos! Everything was excellent! The staff was super kinda and attentive, the baby was super cute too!! Definitely will be back! Highly recommend

Vegan options abound! Conveniently located 10 minutes away from Logan Airport and 2 minutes from Winthrop Beach. I ordered spicy ramen, pan-fried dumplings and the yellow lentil soup (as recommended by another reviewer). Ramen was tasty, dumplings were scrumptious and the lentil soup is magical! As a food obsessed and fairly well traveled individual, the flavors here were above and beyond. The staff was very welcoming despite some language barriers. It felt like being in a relative’s kitchen waiting for them to prepare a special meal just for you. Atmosphere was casual (again, reminiscent of sitting in a relative’s home), nothing too fancy. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip this gem. I will definitely be returning! Maybe bringing a meal to the nearby beach as the weather warms up?

LOVE the food, their noodle dish was something I never had, wasn’t greasy and loved that it had lot of veggies. There are alot of plants in the restaurant and setting & chef is a great vibe 😊

Google
Absolutely delicious!! The food was amazing. Our meals were flavorful but not spicy. Everything was made from scratch and served with genuine love. Bridges is run by a son and mother from Nepal who catered to our every need and made us feel so welcome. We each ended our meal with the best cup of Chai. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

Had a nice dinner out with the fam. Nice charming place tucked away in Winthrop. Called in advance to see if we could grab a bite with two little ones and all went great. Definitely will come back again!

My god… the samosas, chai and the momos… authentic Asian taste in Boston.. I loved it and would definitely go back once again..

Expand the menu, but otherwise great! UPDATE #2: JULY 2022 Just recently ordered from here again as take out. Unfreaking-believably delicious 😋 This food is so flavorful and balanced, intriguing, varied, satisfying ... literally cannot say enough! Please please please patronize this establishment. This cuisine would be a true tragedy to miss out on!! Help them survive this insane country climate where the small business owners are being squeezed out! UPDATE #1: I cannot say enough great things about the deliciously fresh, flavorful, palate awakening dishes from Bridges Nepali!!! A++++++!! You are seriously missing out if you don't stop in and treat yourself!!

Google
We’ve only ever ordered take out from here, but the food is always delicious! The Hakku Chwela with rice is the right kind of spicy with so much texture and flavor. (Pro tip- add a little momo sauce on top for an EXTRA spicy flavor boost!) The pan fried chicken and steamed vegetarian momos are also super tasty! We preferred the pan fried over steamed for its crispy texture, but you do you. Try one, try both, try them all! I feel that if you’re going to order any food from here, an order of the momos are a MUST. The potato and cheese samosa was huge (easily split between two people) and had great flavor too. Also cannot skip out on the yummy yellow lentil soup. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on this gem in Winthrop!

Yelp
Came in to bridges as we were craving something a little different for dinner. The food was made fresh to order so we took a walk to the beach while we waited for our food to be cooked. The space has a lot of plants which make it feel very home-y in side. The chicken tikka masala was great but I'm a fan of spice so I could have used a little more heat. The momo dumplings were delicious - highly recommend adding to your meal.

Chastity D.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! We came around 4pm on a Friday and we were the only people there - which was awesome. The food was made to order and honestly the best meal I've had in years! The service was great - everyone is sweet and attentive. It's not super fast because it is literally made behind you - totally worth it. Left with tons of leftovers. Lots of vegan options too and parking nearby! Place is calm and cute - lots of plants and great music!

Liz J.

Yelp
One of the best Nepali/Indian style dinners I've ever had! I always order the chicken tikka masala, Somosas, and Momos. I highly recommend that if you aren't familiar with this cuisine or are looking to try something good!!

Aaron T.

Yelp
Amazing food, friendly service, cozy neighborhood vibe. Major respect for the dad working the counter with the baby bjorn

Ryan H.

Yelp
Amazing! Family run, super friendly, veggie and vegan friendly and made to order food that I just can't get enough of. Order the Hakku Chwela ! My favorite.

Purna V.

Yelp
This a cute little place but they have some seats for dine in. The food is really delicious and definitely worth a try. The momos are very fresh as with all the food we had.

Cliff L.

Yelp
Winthrop is such a lucky town to have this amazing restaurant. This is one of the best meals I have ever had! What delicious and flavourful food in a relaxed atmosphere. Great service, great deal. Highly recommended. We had chicken tikka masala with roti. Yum!!

Yelp
My party was greeted with warm smiles by the staff at Bridges as we sat in the cozy dining area, which was surprisingly empty. But from the constant online orders they were filling, it was apparent that Bridges was a popular neighborhood take-out spot. We soon discovered why. With one bite of the haku chwela, our eyes widened with delight at the bright flavor. Then, the lamb spinach was stewed just right and the rich flavor was so well balanced, that only grunts of appreciation could be heard between the clinks of our utensils digging in. Love this place! One of the cooks was a visiting aunt who advised of their other location in Cincinnati. If I'm ever near Boston or Cincinnati, this is a must meal!

Kim H.

Yelp
I had the vegan steamed dumplings to go and they were hot and absolutely delicious. I just wish that they would bring back the rice bowls!

David R.

Yelp
This is an exciting new taste for Winthrop. A pleasant storefront across the street from the general parking lot. The restaurant features rice bowls soups grilled chicken tikka A bunch of salads all served quick also available for takeout. The staff was very willing to inform you on the food they actually gave me samples which was great. Everything tasted fabulous‼ Very happy to have this on my way home it'll be a great little addition to the few restaurants in Winthrop. I give Bridges Nepali Cuisine a Solid 4 Stars.

Cristina R.

Yelp
WOW. I absolutely enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious and very flavorful and the portions were just perfect.

Dv M.

Yelp
Outstanding food! Really Nice people. So good to have a place local That makes great food with vegan options. They get it. For those unaware - Nepali food is unique but basically a blend of dishes familiar from American-Chinese cuisine and Indian cuisine, but with its own unique spices and sauces. The momos are amazing!

Tuan T.

Yelp
I agree, wish they would bring back the rice bowls. Ordering the chicken tikka with veggies and rice is just not the same, without the lentil sauce, red onion and salsa sauce which make the rice bowl unique and something that none of the other Nepali restaurants have. Not sure why they would remove their best item but the rest of the stuff is still good it's just that the old rice bowls were breathtakingly good. Still strongly recommend this place the best tastiest food and healthiest in town.

Annilyn T.

Yelp
So after going to the beach and planned me and my boyfriend's friends decided to grab something fast and an expensive dinner for all of us. They said the area used to have a crust pizza but it changed now. So we ended up in a Nepali restaurant. They were almost closing but they still let us in which was really nice of them. They also gave us samples to taste before we order the food for us to see if we like it or not. We ended up getting some rice bowls and some drinks and smoothies that we all shared

Rob H.

Yelp
Bridges was a wonderful surprise! We stopped in after spending an afternoon watching planes and the service was amazing! Sara walked us through the menu and told us what to get. And she was right! It was fantastic! They are open during Covid and seem to be practicing excellent social distancing. They also offer mobile pickup and they have restricted their menu a little. Try the mo mos!

Hannah P.

Yelp
Delicious! Couldn't have been more excited when this place opened. It's the perfect fast casual set up that lends to efficiency, not too many options to choose from, some familiar favorites along with new dishes to try. Not sure if you'll enjoy a dish? They let you try whatever! Their grilled chicken tikka is the perfect blend of robust flavor with a lighter curry sauce over steamed basmati topped generously with cilantro, curried veggies if you please, red onions and jalapenos. You can also get it even spicier with their house-made hot sauce that comes on the side. Other things I love include their vegan, vegetarian and chicken & rice samosas which are HUGE. One is plenty and two would make a tasty lunch. It comes with a sweet sauce which I personally don't love because I'm all about the spicy but I bet a blend of this with their hot sauce would be glorious. The Hakku Chuala is also great, super spicy and has less sauce as well if that's not your thing. Also, drink (non-alcoholic beverages) game and prices are on point!

Yelp
Soooo happy to have a new restaurant in Winthrop that is serving something different than the usual grub around town. We often have to drive into Boston for good ethnic good. This place totally delivers great food! Small limited menu, but quite delicious. People often feel it may be too spicy, but not all the dishes are. Even my 5 year old enjoyed it. We cannot wait to return.

Andrea G.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Winthrop! The food is always delicious and FRESH!

Meg V.

Yelp
My husband and went to bridges Nepali Cuisine for lunch yesterday for the first time. We ordered samosas, spicy ramen with chicken and the chicken tikka masala to share. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the veggies in the spicy ramen and the tikka masala. We will definitely return again and try different items from the menu.

Seth A.

Yelp
Waited 1.5 hours for the food delivery and when it we received it, two orders of Hakku Chwela were not in the order which was my food. So now I don't get to eat. I will never return.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Not the kind of place to go if you are in any rush or are extremely hungry. The service is very....relaxed. The food is really great, though. The Haku Chwela was both refreshing and filling, the lime juice gives a very bright flavor to the entrée. The Goat curry was hearty and prepared to a juicy tender perfection. I loved the Roti bread, it was different from others I've tried and it was just delicious. The owner is the chef and you can tell he both cares about and is proud of his creations.

Neha T.

Yelp
Agree with everyone else on how GOOD the food is here. We belive they are overdue on updating their online menu but just talk to the chefs before placing your order. We've mostly done take outs and have had a couple of incorrect orders so please double check! We love their momos and noodles! I've tried a few other momo and nepalese places in Cambridge and this one is my new favorite since it's much closer to us. More spicy, more saucy, more vegetables and just overall more delicious! Looks like a family run business (like most nepalese restaurants that I've been to). Give them a try!

K M.

Yelp
Fresh and flavorful ingredients and the spicy ramen was perfect! Service was very friendly and inviting. Great spot for takeout but highly suggest calling ahead for anything besides rice bowls if you're in a rush!!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Love everything about Bridges. This place always has consistently great food and service. There is plenty of seating inside. I highly recommend their chicken curry or chicken Marsala rice bowls. I also REALLY recommend their samosas - they have vegan and veggie. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is very flavorful with lots of ethnic spices and unique tastes. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner or both!

Sara F.

Yelp
We just love it here. The food is consistently good and while there are usually long waits, they will give you a call when your order is almost ready to pick up. We have a standard order we go with and have never been disappointed!

Bisan K.

Yelp
Absolutely 10/10 chow mien!!! We went to dine in and it was just pleasant inside. The food was just super amazing and the momo was really juicy. Would definitely return when we are around Boston!

Michel M.

Yelp
Delighted to have this new place in Winthrop. Two visits so far and food is really great. Owner super nice and most importantly a number of vegan options on the menu!

Salima P.

Yelp
Holy smokes!!! Absolutely delicious. If you're a rookie Indian food eater they'll have you taste everything. If you're a veteran you won't be disappointed. It's a must try

Stuart B.

Yelp
The food is authentic and tasty ranging from mild to spicy. The service is friendly and quick in this casual spot.

Wilson B.

Yelp
If you're on the northeast side of town and are in the mood for bold flavors and heat (or just something other than well prepared Italian), you can't do much better than Bridges Nepali Cuisine. The rice bowl comes in a hearty portion, the staff is super kind and eager to give out samples, and the masala is on point. Bridges functions as a Chipotle-style rice bowl system with only a few frills (samosas, rice pudding--I think?), but it doesn't need to do much more. And the flat bread... whew treat yo'self and order some. That was excellent. I agree with another reviewer that the menu could be clearer (perhaps labels on the Plexiglas? Too mall-food-court-ish?), but with the amount of unsolicited samples we were given, many of my questions were answers, namely: can I go wrong? No, not really. The bowl was $9 and worth it. Enough for a small lunch tomorrow... or a snack later tonight.

Beth H.

Yelp
We popped in to this little restaurant for a mid-afternoon snack and what a treat. Vegetarian options as well as omnivores options and wow what flavor! The yellow lentil soup was so good! My husband got one of their Potato, carrot and peas Samosa which was really tasty as well. A nice texture and loads of filling! I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Mary R.

Yelp
Delicious food! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the backyard dining area is super cute. We will definitely be back!

Adonis L.

Yelp
This place is a nice sleeper for sure. The flavor here is rich, the staff is friendly and I will definitely be going back for those two reasons! Prices could be a little cheaper. I know of some spots in Lynn that don't charge nearly as much and serve larger portions.

Lucy S.

Yelp
Just tried this place for the first time tonight and it's really great! The menu is on the smaller side but pretty diverse with the types of combos you can create. I got the basmati rice bowl with yellow lentils and chicken tikka sauce and it was really tasty. I wanted to try the samosas, but they were out. Next time! There were only two people behind the counter and I think they did a fabulous job handling the dozen or so people that came in in the hour and a half we were there. They were courteous enough to let us know they were out of certain items and how long it'd take to cook more and they truly honored first come, first serve. Can't wait to come back here again!

Tess D.

Yelp
This food is so so delicious. One of my favorites restaurants in the Boston area. You will not regret eating here. I've tried all different kinds of meals and sides from their menu and I have never once been disappointed. SUPPORT THIS PLACE ESPECIALLY IN THESE TIMES. THEY DESERVE IT.

Aly H.

Yelp
Bridges is the best restaurant in town. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant is very clean and the food is fresh and flavorful. The Momos and chow neon are our favorites, but Everything we have ordered has been great!

Rhea B.

Yelp
This unassuming restaurant is amazing. You will wait basically forever for your food but it is lovingly prepared to order and delicious. If you've had Chicken Tikka Masala elsewhere, you must try their version. We ordered soup, vegetables, the chili momos (outstanding!) and a mushroom dish. It's an experience.

Josephine F.

Yelp
Every dish is handmade from scratch. Rice bowls, samosas and momo dumplings in chili sauce are my recommendation. Service is always friendly! Just go. :)

Jo C.

Yelp
So happy this place exists in Winthrop. The flavors are out of control- so authentic and quality ingredients. The momo's are just perfect. The stir fried noodles are just the best. All the breads are to die for. Do not hesitate to try!!!!!!

Sunny A.

Yelp
First off, I want to say that I'm usually generous with my reviews so I'm a bit disappointed to leave this review. The food generally has not disappointed (I've tried a few different things but the chow mein has been the best on their menu). The menu in general is pricey given the portions and location- these are downtown Boston prices (if not higher). The service in restaurant was good too the times I went it, but there was no one else there and it took a long time for them to make the food. Therefore expect a wait. The chef who I think might be the owner is cool though so the wait doesn't feel too bad if you're not in a rush. Today, I ordered delivery from them. I called around 1pm and the lady said there are no delivery drivers at that time so try calling back around 4:30-5pm. I called back later at 4:45pm (delivery drivers were available) and placed an order for chicken chow mein which usually doesn't take long. I live a few minutes away in Winthrop and the lady quoted a delivery time of 30-35 minutes total (also saying she'll try to expedite and get it here before then), which sounded right and was appreciated. For starters, it took 90-100 minutes for the food to get here, almost 3x the amount of time quoted. Second, the lady had overcharged me compared to what she told me on the phone (I'd asked for a small cup of rice which the guy usually gives for free but she charged an additional $6-7 for it). If she had mentioned a price on the phone, I would've decided accordingly but she snuck that charge in on the receipt (she quoted a lower total on the phone and the total on the receipt was a considerably higher amount). I took out the small cup of rice from the bag, sent it back with the delivery driver (who felt bad about this whole thing), and told the lady I'm not paying for that. To which she said "ok" and hung up. I'll update the review if the restaurant reaches out and tries to amend the above, but otherwise they lost a potential long term customer due to poor service and gimmicks. Buying food shouldn't be like a visit to the car dealership. TLDR; good food, slow service/ long waits (even without a line), overpriced, poor and gimmicky delivery service.

Sean S.

Yelp
Bridges has become my absolute go-to lunch spot whenever I'm working from home in Winthrop. The food is fresh, flavorful and unique. I typically go for the rice bowls, since they are quick and you can customize what you want inside. While the rice bowl may be more expensive than other lunch options in the area, I usually get two meals out of it, so it's well worth the price in my opinion.

Mary W.

Yelp
The food here is by far the freshest and most flavorful food in the area! Do not go there and expect it to be quick, it's not, it's made to order...BUT worth the wait!!! The rice bowls are so good...I typically get the tiki masala, with veggies OMG delish! Last time I was there, I had the stir fry noodles with Chicken and veggies... Amazing! The momos and samosas can't be beat! My bf always gets the spicy ramen, they dial it up to a 10 heat level, and he LOVES it!!! Go there!!!

Tara M.

Yelp
I've been meaning to come in here for a whole year and I finally did this afternoon. It did NOT disappoint, and Maggie was the most gracious and patient food tour guide ever! That gal deserves a raise because it was clear she genuinely loves the food, the flavors, and her customers' experience. I will be back early and often for things whose names I don't even remember, but I will point enthusiastically and enjoy my bowls immensely!

Jaci S.

Yelp
Staff was extremely nice and accommodating to dietary restrictions. All of the food was amazing. We had a chance to wait for our order in the garden area out back which was beautiful and quaint. This place is an hour away from me but we will be coming back regularly because the food, service, and atmosphere is phenomenal

Zsuzsanna L.

Yelp
We love everything we ate here: chicken bowl, thupka (soup), goat curry, paneer curry ... the veggies are awesome! And always fresh...

Eileen O.

Yelp
Everything is so fresh, you can't help salivating as soon as you walk in and smell the food. The owners are eager to let you sample everything to help you decide. There are three varieties of samosas, and they are all perfect. I wish I knew the names of everything I've eaten there, but I don't. I pretty much point, sample and order. What a refreshing addition to the neighborhood.

Jillian D.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are vegan and their options were delicious. We got a vegan main dish with the sides plus two samosas. That was more than enough.

Krys J.

Yelp
The food is just amazing !!! I love noodles and have been looking for a place that serves them how I like them and finally I found it!! Their bowls are perfect too for those who like to stay in shape and still enjoy food! Winthrop rocks more with this place !

maryanne a.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh food! Options for everyone (vegan, food sensitivities, etc). They were very accommodating, letting us sample everything before ordering, and the food was filling and flavorful. Highly recommended!

Frances S.

Yelp
Bridges is new to us coming from East Boston; we stopped by at 2PM on a Tuesday to check the menu, etc. We were prepared to order something small; but, when I showed the cook the pictures of soup and a salad to order he did not understand and shook his head. I suggest the "closed" sign and not the "open" sign should be displayed. We had to leave and hope to come back at a later time. The smells were so good. The tables and chairs looked so nice. I hope this place is for us old-timers and not for the "ordering I-phone generation. Frances Irene
