The 38 Best Restaurants in Calgary, Canada - Eater

"If there were an award for most consistent Calgary restaurant, it would go to Bridgette Bar. Since opening over five years ago, the restaurant has transitioned seamlessly from one chef to another without disruption, a trend that holds up under current executive chef MacKenzie Pavka. Signatures include the beautiful wagyu beef carpaccio with mushroom vinaigrette, tuna crudo with brown-butter emulsion and buckwheat, and the pretzel-crusted banana pie. The vast menu also caters to picky eaters with pizza and pasta. [$$-$$$$]" - Dan Clapson

Rank: #35 "This bar-restaurant hybrid plays up the exposed brick, wood beams and split-level layout with mid-century additions that give it a slight rumpus room ambiance. Here, a Scandinavian fireplace, there, long banquettes, all over, plants in macramé hangers. It’s the perfect setting for a chill lunch, or an evening or late night out with plenty of cocktails and wine."

10/10! Highly recommend Bridgette Bar to anyone. This was my first time trying the YYC location, however I have been to the Canmore location. Both are equally amazing. Best steak I’ve ever tasted both times. We had the Truffle Mushroom Rigatoni and the Wood Grilled Beef Strip Steak. Chefs kiss. Great recommendations from the staff pertaining to the well crafted cocktails, all around beyond accommodating and kind vibes all around. I love this place, I hope everyone has a chance to try this and be in such a rad atmosphere.

We don't live in Calgary so this was my first time trying Bridgette Bar. Great location downtown. Really cool building with unique decor. The service was really great, the server was very attentive, but not annoyingly so. Food was amazing. We had bread and butter and brussel sprouts to start. Then my wife had the rigatoni and I had the maple trout, all of the food was really good. Finished it all off by sharing a delicious banana pie. Thanks for dinner!

We ordered the garlic bread, cauliflower, asparagus, Strip steak and the rigatoni. They were very good! It's a little on the pricer end. They ran out of the banana cream pie which was unfortunate as a lot of people rave about it. We will be back for sure to try that and more dishes!

A 10/10 experience! Emily, our server, was amazing! She explained the menu so perfectly and everything she recommended was delicious! The food came on time, the presentation was perfect and the taste was SO delicious! I loved the eggplant fries and the trout dish! Highly recommend.

Finally got to try Bridgette Bar after living in this city my whole life! I loved that this is a sharing restaurant so that you can try a bunch of different things. However, it was very loud and definitely hard to have a conversation. We ordered the garlic cheese bread, beet salad, rainbow trout and ricotta dumplings. Out of these, we probably would only order the beet salad and rainbow trout again. While the cheese bread & the ricotta dumplings were good, they could’ve been seasoned more & have more depth of flavour - they unfortunately just weren’t stand out dishes to us. However, the beet salad was phenomenal - the beets were paired beautifully with whipped feta, herbs & pistachios. The rainbow trout was also very delicious as I loved the maple BBQ sauce & the smoked potato puree. All in all, it is still a great restaurant option here in Calgary & definitely worth trying!

I recently visited Bridgette Bar for happy hour with a few friends, and it was an excellent experience! The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel well taken care of. We ordered a variety of appetizers and two pizzas to share—it turned out to be the perfect amount of food, and everything was absolutely delicious. The happy hour pricing made it an even better deal. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and fantastic value—I’ll definitely be back!

We’ve always had an amazing time at Bridgette Bar, for date nights, Christmas parties, and nights where we join friends after an art event. I took my husband for a date night for the YYC experience, and honestly Tristan our server made the evening for us. First course, we both chose steak tartare, and the second course we agreed the gnocchi was better than the pork presse (it wasn’t bad, just not our taste.) the crazy thing was the dessert…I normally hate rhubarb, and of course Brigette Bar made a dessert out of rhubarb that I really, really, liked. It wasn’t too sweet, and it was almost like a better apple crumble. Loved it!

Bridgette bar is one of my favorite places to go in Calgary for dinner and cocktails, if you have the pleasure of getting Colton as your server just know you got the best server in the building!! The food is always amazing, the menu doesn’t change too too much - sometimes I wished it did just to see some more creativity come from the kitchen, but at the same time it’s nice to be able to go in and get consistent plates (like the ricotta dumplings, eggplant fries, spiced beet salad, strip steak) you know are going to be fantastic every time!! The cocktails are quite the same, they are all fun and fantastic, I will usually order the Cloud 9, Jr. Stargazer, or the Paradise city.
