The 38 Best Restaurants in Calgary, Canada | Eater

"If there were an award for most consistent Calgary restaurant, it would go to Bridgette Bar. Since opening over five years ago, the restaurant has transitioned seamlessly from one chef to another without disruption, a trend that holds up under current executive chef MacKenzie Pavka. Signatures include the beautiful wagyu beef carpaccio with mushroom vinaigrette, tuna crudo with brown-butter emulsion and buckwheat, and the pretzel-crusted banana pie. The vast menu also caters to picky eaters with pizza and pasta. [$$-$$$$]" - Dan Clapson

Rank: #35 "This bar-restaurant hybrid plays up the exposed brick, wood beams and split-level layout with mid-century additions that give it a slight rumpus room ambiance. Here, a Scandinavian fireplace, there, long banquettes, all over, plants in macramé hangers. It’s the perfect setting for a chill lunch, or an evening or late night out with plenty of cocktails and wine."

Bridgette bar has a very charming yet sophisticated environment. The staff are very professional and engaged and able to answer any questions you have. We got 6 dishes between 3 of us which was a good amount. We started with the beat salad, which was a favorite of ours, the whipped feta with it and the nuts were all a great texture and flavor combination together. The eggplant sticks were highly recommended, however, we found them a bit disappointing, texture was great, but lacking flavor. The burrata was tasty, but I wish that it came with more than just a jelly with it, having more elements would make it pop more. It was very sweet and under seasoned in my opinion. The grilled cauliflower was very tasty, and has a delicious umami sauce with it. We lastly got the salami pizza. It was delicious, but the center of the pizza was too wet and falling apart a bit. Overall the food was all tasty, but for the price and reputation I did expect better. Would like to try it again.

It was good! Rigatoni was delicious Good espresso martinis Love the sauce with the halibut My friends loved their fries, eggplant fries, beet salad and steak Bread appy was sourdough, crispy and hard. So if that’s what you like you’ll love it! Service was good Very cute bathrooms with a great selfie mirror Not my top pick compared to other places but nothing was bad :)

First of all, this is one of the best places I’ve been to in Calgary. Usually, there’s always something I don’t like at a restaurant — but this place is different. Is it possible for everything to be perfect? Yes, everything here was amazing. Our server was Ms. Sofia — she was very friendly and welcoming. The cleanliness of the restaurant, the attentiveness of the staff — everything was just excellent. I will definitely come back here again. If I had to rate it out of 10, I’d say 11. That’s how good this place is. I absolutely recommend it.

We recently dined at Bridgette Bar to celebrate my wife's birthday, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone — warm, stylish, and buzzing with energy. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and cozy charm, making it ideal for both casual nights out and special occasions. We started with a selection of small plates, including the fried eggplant, octopus salad, a tuna dish, and garlic bread — every bite was flavorful and beautifully presented. The pasta with shrimp and squid was our main course, and it was perfectly cooked, rich in taste without being overpowering. The service deserves a special mention. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make our celebration feel special — they even set up the table with a thoughtful birthday touch, which really elevated the evening. We also enjoyed a few craft cocktails, and they were just as impressive as the food — well-balanced and creative. Overall, Bridgette Bar delivered on every front — incredible food, inviting atmosphere, and outstanding service. Whether you're celebrating a milestone or just looking for a great night out, this spot is well worth a visit.

This was a restaurant I had been wanting to try for a while. The first time we came, it was during happy hour and the place was packed, so we gave up. This time, we visited after the lunch rush. We were seated right away, and our server came promptly so ordering was smooth. She was very friendly and pleasant. My husband and I shared a few dishes, and everything was delicious. The pizza especially impressed me—the flavor was outstanding, slightly sweet, maybe from the onions? I forgot to check later, but it was truly amazing. There were two things that I felt could be improved. First, I wish they had provided separate plates for appetizers and pizza. Since the appetizer had a sauce, using the same plate took away from the nice crispiness of the pizza. For a place that isn’t exactly inexpensive, that little detail matters. The second issue, unfortunately, really changed my overall impression. Another staff member (possibly the host or manager?) was clearing dirty dishes. On the way to the kitchen, a fork fell to the floor. Instead of picking it up, he kicked it with his foot all the way into the kitchen. Having worked in the food industry myself, I found this unacceptable. He was not our server. Our sever was nice lady. It’s a shame, because the food was truly excellent, but that one moment left me questioning whether I would return.

The service here was excellent and friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The food had some real highlights: the eggplant fries were crispy and addictive, the lamb sausage was packed with flavor, and the wood-grilled beef strip steak was cooked perfectly and full of smoky richness. Highly recommend pairing your meal with an Old Fashioned, it was well-balanced and one of the better ones I’ve had. That said, the beef carpaccio with mushrooms was underwhelming and didn’t match the quality of the other dishes. Still, overall a great spot and worth checking out for the standout plates and vibe.

Went for a birthday dinner. The host that we first interacted with wasn't overly welcoming. Our server Hannah made up for it. She was great, friendly, helpful, recommended dishes, wine and confirmed what options there are for celiac friendly dishes. We started with the tuna crudo, which was good. Ordered the steak and lamb to share, with a side of asparagus. There was a longer delay between the appetizer and main which was fine. We received the lamb then waited about another 5-8 minutes for the steak and another 5-8 minutes for the asparagus. Lamb and steak were delicious, perfectly cooked. The asparagus wasn't worth it, the sauce was tasty but there was a lot of water on the plate, the asparagus was cool and very woody. We shared a cake dessert, can't recall the name that was lighter, celiac friendly and Hannah added a nice touch with a sparkler. Just after our mains were served the lights were dimmed to the point we could hardly see our food in the corner we were in. It's expensive so if going be prepared to spend anywhere from $75-$100/person at minimum. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

Great restaurant with excellent food, good service, and lively atmosphere. The pizza and pastas, especially the rigatoni, were standout dishes, and the appetizers were equally delicious. A fantastic choice for both casual meals and special nights out.
