I've gone to Briggs a couple of times throughout the year and have never had an issue. One thing I love about them is that they stand by their plants. If something doesn't grow or an evergreen goes brown, they'll give you a refund. However, be prepared for a fight to get that refund.
I bought a dozen or so evergreen plants from them this past spring. This fall, they started to brown. I gave a call to Briggs and they mentioned that as long as I had the credit card I purchased it with they'd be able to give me a refund. She told me to bring in a photo and show it to the cashier and they'd take care of it.
So I went outside, took a photo and headed to Briggs. Upon arriving, there was a group of workers casually gossipping by the cash registers outside. I was the only one in line and they just glared at me. Didn't acknowledge me at all. Finally, a different cashier freed up. When I told her the situation she mentioned that i'd have to ask one of the guys who blatantly ignored me. So, I went over. I was kind and simply said "the woman over there said..." and before I could even finish my sentence, one of the men said "UH 6 FEET, 6 FEET, BACK UP PLEASE!" And the other co-workers started to giggle. He wasn't joking either. He was rude and honestly very cocky. I had a mask on, I was pretty distant from the group, but yet he was outstandingly rude. I showed him a photo of the plant and explained my situation. He continued to be rude and said "WELL, DO YOU HAVE A RECEIPT?" I explained to him that the woman over the phone said all they'd need is my CC. He was baffled and said "HUH. WELL, YEAH IF YOU HAVE A BANK STATEMENT"...I was flawed. I've never been to a business that's asked to see my bank statement. Does they have a record of all their purchases? I mentioned to him that I didn't have a paper copy but I could show him the charge on my phone. He then waved his hand at me and said "lets just see if we have those plants still..."
In the end, they did end up giving me a gift card for my purchase. However, they also lost a customer in the process. If you're going to stand by your return policy, stand by it. Don't give people a hard time, don't be rude to them, don't be cocky. It seems he didn't need to see my bank statement or even a photo of the plant, he was just keen on giving me a hard time. I'm sorry Briggs, but this was NOT ok!
