When My Father Was in the Hospital, I Turned to the Noodles King for Comfort | Eater Boston

"Signing the guest book at the cancer ward, I walked into a place where my father’s condition quickly deteriorated in the spring of 2019: he arrived exhausted with muscle pain, developed a blood infection that was treated with medications causing fluid buildup around his heart and led to a week of atrial fibrillation and a week of delirium, during which he couldn’t remember basic things, and while the doctors assured me such complications happen, it didn’t make seeing him unable to recall his own birthday any easier." - Terrence Doyle

A huge thank-you to the Brigham maternity team for your professionalism and compassionate care! My son was born here about two months ago — it was our first delivery. Since we’re from Russia and had prepared ourselves for the kind of rudeness and negligence often associated with childbirth there, we were amazed to see how positive and respectful the experience can actually be. I noticed so many good things at every stage — we were supported through labor, delivery, and postpartum care; my wife was listened to attentively; and the meals afterward were great. The doctors not only showed high professionalism but were genuinely kind and caring throughout. If we decide to have a second child, we’ll definitely welcome them into the world at Brigham again! P.S. I do have one suggestion for improvement. After giving birth, a mother needs rest and at least a bit of sleep. However, it’s nearly impossible when staff from various departments come in every half hour, continuously. My suggestion would be to optimize the visits and, where possible, group several check-ins together. During the first two days we were very stressed and couldn’t sleep — not because of the baby, but because of the constant flow of visitors. Thank you!

It's not a hospital, it's more like the White House or a police station. All the staff are rude and arrogant, abusing their positions. Especially the Phyllis Jen Center staff. At Jen center: if you decide to move at any point in your life, it isn't possible to switch your doctor to any other location in Massachusetts Very. Rude and arrogant Its is by far the least professional as well. If you’re looking for the highest level of care , medically and emotionally , you don’t need to look any further. Mass General is the place to be.

In September 2021, my life changed in the most unimaginable way. At just 34 years old, I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. As a mom to two little girls, ages 6 and 7 at the time, I was terrified — not just for myself, but for them. I couldn’t imagine leaving them behind, and I certainly didn’t want their lives to continue without me in them. In that moment, I had no idea how my story would unfold, but thanks to Dr. Patel and his extraordinary team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, I am here today — alive, healthy, and able to embrace life more fully than I ever could have imagined. Dr. Patel is incredible. From the very first moment, it was clear that he and his team were not only highly skilled, but also deeply compassionate. They treated me as more than a patient — they treated me as a person, a mother, a daughter, someone whose life and family mattered. Their urgency, care, and expertise were matched only by their kindness. Every nurse, doctor, and staff member went above and beyond to make me and my family feel supported, informed, and reassured during what was, without exaggeration, the scariest experience of our lives. I could feel that they were fighting for me as much as I wanted to fight for myself, and I knew I was in the best possible hands. Thanks to Dr. Patel and his team, I recovered. I returned to work only six weeks later, something I didn’t think would be possible at the time. Since then, I’ve received a promotion, bought a new home, and even started a small family farm. Yes, after surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm, I apparently decided that goats and chickens would be the perfect addition to my life — and somehow, even in the chaos, it’s all been joyful and fulfilling. More than anything, though, I have been here for my daughters every single day. I’ve watched them grow, celebrated milestones, shared laughter, wiped tears, and read countless bedtime stories — experiences I almost lost forever. Every single day is a reminder of the gift I was given. Dr. Patel and his team didn’t just save my life — they gave my daughters their mom back, they gave my family a future, and they gave me the chance to continue dreaming, building, and laughing (yes, even with goats and chickens in the mix). They combine world-class medical skill with genuine humanity, and I have never met a team so dedicated to their patients. Their compassion and care made a terrifying experience not only survivable but also, in many ways, life-affirming. If you or a loved one ever need care, know this: Dr. Patel and his team at Brigham and Women’s are not just exceptional doctors — they are miracle workers who restore hope, heal families, and give people the chance to live fully again. I am endlessly grateful to them, not only for saving my life, but for giving me a second chance to keep building the life I love. No words can fully capture my gratitude, but I hope this gives some sense of the life-changing impact they have had on me and my family. To Dr. Patel and every member of his team: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You didn’t just save me — you gave me back laughter, dreams, chaos, and joy. You gave me back life itself.

Would not recommend. I was admitted to the hospital for a week and got a $3,000 bill. Mind you I have insurance. I called billing and asked what financial help they had for this bill and was told I don’t qualify because I am not on state insurance and when I said I work full time so my job has to offer insurance I was told there are no options for help and got hung up on… terrible experience trying to get help with billing.

Good luck trying to schedule literally any type of appointment through this hospital system, even when you have insurance THROUGH BRIGHAM AND WOMEN'S HEALTH PLAN. Oh, and if you decide to move at any point in your life, it isn't possible to switch your doctor to any other location in Massachusetts. I will not be driving over an hour just to get to a primary care appointment while there are other doctors that are accepting new patients fifteen minutes away from me. Good thing I'm healthy enough to wait God knows how long to get new health insurance and find another place in the area that actually lets you make appointments with them rather than giving you random phone numbers to call where nobody helps you. Thanks for wasting my time!

I had an awful experience at this hospital similar to the reviews you see. Staff could care less and are selfish. Marcela Marsiglia was an mri tech I had at about 2am. I was in the hospital overnight as I woke up and could not walk (scary as you can imagine). The wrong mri was ordered and she could care less. I asked her to call up to get the right information and she said I was her last patient of the evening and that would take too long! I’m sorry I was cutting into you leaving for home and being fully able to walk unlike myself. Completely discouraging experience and she should be reprimanded for her unethical behavior.

This hospital disgusts me. This hospital failed my brother. I never bothered to treat him properly, and they wasted valuable time, and my brother ended up passing from his cancer because it went untreated. Now that they can't further milk. My brother's insurance and I'm trying to get ahold of them to get documentation in order to get bereavement leave from my employer, every department that I get referred to tells me the same thing that there's nothing that they can do that, I would have to go through public. Records, and it blows my mind. Because they were all willing to offer me all sorts of assistance when my brother was on hospice care, or we're here for you will help you with anything that you need and now that my brother is gone now, they don't give a damn. Do yourselves a favor and don't put your loved ones here. Otherwise they'll just end up with an expiration date.

Going for neurology and it started out fine. My actual neurologist is great but I couldn't see him this time and I wanted a medication change. The nurse practitioner was awful, ran late and then the appointment was sub-par. The second check in visit was a virtual visit she was late again and didn't remember me (4 weeks later). The appointment lasted less then 10min and could have been done through a message. Then the hospital itself is greedy and if your insurance charges a copay per bill then be prepared to pay 2 co-pays one for the physician and another for the facility, this includes virtual visits.

Yelp
I spent about six hours in the emergency department with my roommate and we had a fairly expectable experience. It was fairly crowded, but we were called back for testing in a pretty reasonable manner. The providers were fantastic at keeping everyone relaxed despite the overwhelming night. The front desk receptionists are kind and attentive to everyone - the waiting room was pretty well-managed given the crowd and timing. I appreciated the water and phone chargers that are provided in the waiting room! However, following the blood test, we were not told that the results would be available for review on the online portal until nearly three hours of waiting for a doctor to call us back. We received her results within the hour of the test and could have left right after, but killed time waiting. I've taken other people here in the past and have never had this problem. Better communication in that regard would have been appreciated. Overall, it was a fine experience and this is definitely my go-to ER over the others in the area. Personally, I see several providers in a variety of specialities at Brigham outside of the ER and have had nothing but good things to say, especially the dermatology department. As an out-of-state college student, Brigham is always in my insurance network and it's never a huge hassle to schedule consultations or follow-ups.

Yelp
I was a patient of Thoracic Surgery since 2013. They just shut me out because l mentioned that my surgeon did not remember operating on me. With a round trip of 120 miles he just wanted to speak politics on who l should vote for. Out of concern for myself l asked for another Doctor of the Thoracic Team. The manager who doesn't know me at all spoke badly about me to the department. I received a letter right on my birthday, before the holidays that l was no longer a part of that clinic. Before all of this they told me that l was a complicated case being minus a stomach which lead to Esophageal Dismotiity Syndrome. Presently l'm without a surgeon, physician assistants and Medications. They just let me go without setting me up with another surgeon after having three major operations by them.

Yelp
Approximately 18 months ago Dr. Brent Shoji, Gastrointestinal and General Surgery, removed a large, benign hemorrhoid, He stated at the time that a polyp may form as a result of the surgery, A polyp did, in fact, subsequently form and on December 17, 2024, I went into Dr. Shoji's office to have the growth removed. Upon inspecting the affected area, Dr. Shoji located two additional hemorrhoids which also needed to be removed. Before the procedure I asked Dr. Shoji about the sterility of the instruments fearing possible HIV infection. He assured me that there was no risk of transmission. He had me lie uncomfortably on my stomach (The first time I had lied on my side for the procedure.) and apprised me of the course of the procedure stating that the anesthesia injections would be the most painful aspect. He administered at least two injections of anesthetic which were painful enough. After having probed the area for numbness, he told me he would give me an additional injection, This injection was a malicious, sadistic, painful jab which made me howl. (I am a diabetic who injects insulin twice per day. I am more than familiar with injections and how a drug needs to be administered intravenously.) During the beginning of the operation Dr. Shoji stated that the recovery time would last for 3 - 4 weeks. When I asked him a few minutes later about safe anal intercourse, he indicated that it would be possible after just 2 weeks. That is not in sync with his prior statement and after two weeks, my anus was still extremely painful upon stool movements. Lastly and just as importantly, Dr. Shoji had supposedly poked the surgical area several times for sensitivity prior to the first cut. I had felt nothing. During cauterization toward the end of the procedure (I knew it was cauterization as I could smell my own burning flesh.) Dr. Shoji sadistically continued to burn the area in such a way as to make the procedure extremely painful. I howled again and asked him how much longer it would take. He kept telling me he was almost finished and just a little bit longer. Despite a minimum of three anesthesia injections, the cauterization was VERY PAINFUL. It also turned out to be the exact spot of the post-operative pain and discomfort FOR WEEKS after the procedure. I am extremely disappointed in Dr. Shoji, the department and the entire facility. He, again, stated that I might have additional growths. If that does turn out to be the case, I will not seek remedy at Brigham & Women's Hospital. It is tantamount to a butcher shop.

Yelp
TO SRUTHI VALLURI I visited Brigham & Women's Hospital couple weeks ago for a personal health issue. During my time wandering through the hospital, I stopped and asked a older woman for help to find someone to help me make an appointment. She treated me and my two children like we were the scum of the earth. Its one thing to treat me like that, but another to treat a CHILD like that. How she was able to talk to a child the way she did is beyond me. She told me that I probably have herpes and need to visit another hostipal, and proceeded to tell me 'not to touch her'. When my child started crying, she told me that he's ruining her day. I will never forget the way she treated me or my children, and now I am finally saying something about it. After a few google searches, I learned it was Sruthi Valluri. Sruthi I hope you read this and know you are not a good person, and to not treat other people like they are below you. I may have a different economical class then you, but I am still a person. For the next time you decide to judge someone before you meet them and jump to conclusions, think about how this google review made YOU feel.

Yelp
We just had our first birth experience at BWH, and overall it went very well! The staff was caring, patient, knowledgeable and responsive to our priorities and birth plans (even as they changed theoughout labor). When something unexpected happened during the birth, multiple teams came together seamlessly within seconds to ensure a safe delivery. As a supporting partner, I had comfortable places to sleep for the few nights that we were at "Hotel Brigham." ;)

Yelp
Once again I went to the Brigham for surgery, this time to the ER for deep lacerations on my lip, and stated up front that I refused to be treated by a trainee or student. I informed them at intake that I chose this ER to be treated by a plastic surgeon. I told the plastics staff that I wanted the surgery done by a full plastic surgeon. Yet, the very resident who I told this too, went ahead and performed the surgery anyway! He led me to believe he was a plastic surgeon, not a resident. Wtf B&W? I was never even seen by a licensed plastic surgeon. But you'd never know that from my medical notes- signed by Dr Kavitha L. Ranganathan, an actual plastic surgeon with a craniofacial specialty. The notes are written as if she performed the surgery. After about 5 phone calls I got the name of the Dr resident - Charles Hwang - who really treated me and that's when I learned he is a resident and not a plastic surgeon. He isn't even licensed in Mass. His specialty is hand surgery.....Well, that and lying to the patients who put their trust in him.

Yelp
This review is going to focus of the Shapiro Pavilion. The Pavilion is basically a Ritz Carlton hidden by two sets of solid steel doors. You can typically stay here regardless of the type of care you need. Saying that this place goes above and beyond is an understatement. You have a private Chef cooking in a private Kitchen. I believe the smallest suite is three rooms with plenty of room for welcomed overnight guests. All of medical equipment is hidden behind paintings. Unfortunately it's private pay but well worth it for a quiet recovery!

Yelp
"Call back in December like everybody else." In what job do you talk to customers like that? Summed up, I was recently notified that my PCP was moving to Brigham and Women's, so I called to become a new patient. Once an agent picked up, I was given attitude and told that "no you are a former patient" of my PCP (yes, aware) and that Steward Medical should apologize for the miscommunication not us (what?).

Bri L.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE EVEN IF YOURE NEAR DEATH THEY WILL ABUSE YOU THE MORE IN PAIN YOU ARE IN!!! This is your employee abusing a patient by flipping them off while they're waiting on emergency care. Her name is Deborah & She abused my daughter by squeezing her leg because she said she didn't want help. My daughter's ribs were broken and she continued to grab her leg and squeeze it and then claimed she thought she needed help. When I acknowledged that she squeezed her leg she ignored us and kept walking. This is evil and this lady should be fired. Deborah you're fired soon girl you might as well go ahead and pack it up. Public relations is doing an investigation and this has been sent to the higher ups.

Yelp
I am writing this review regarding Claire who works in the management office of Physical Therapy. Today I had an appointment, I checked in while I was on the phone. I didn't realize that I shouldn't have been on the phone. When I ended the call, Claire asked if I had checked in, I stated yes. Claire then made a point

Yelp
7 hours of surgery! I had an outstanding Surgeon AND Anesthesia Team, comprised of an Anesthesiologist and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthestist. Nursing, was off the chart, outstanding. From admission to discharge, I reveived outstanding care, on this hospital admission, at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The hospital/staff could not have been more perfect. In my opinion, the leadership of Dana Farber Cancer Institute, are out of their minds, to walk away from the experts and institutional expertise/capacity that they have in their partners at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Out of their minds!

Yelp
This is the absolute Best Hospital I have ever been in, both as a patient and a caregiver! Everyone who works here is trained to be compassionate, kind, welcoming, helpful, calming and all have a smile for everyone, along with a kind word. The medical staff is all top- notch and many are Harvard Medical School Trained. I always feel Safe and Compassionately cared for here! I Love this Hospital!!!

Yelp
Upon arriving this morning and Brigham & Women's Hospital for an MRI Arthrogram parking was a bit confusing and I ended up parking at 80 Francis St. around the corner. Upon making my way to the correct floor I was greeted and checked in quickly. I had a wonderful experience with doctor Andrew Wang and understood what was being performed. After the completion of the Arthrogram I was taken down to the MRI floor and was again greeted by a wonderful team who ensured my valuables were locked up and helped me understand what would be occurring. The team played wonderful music and was communicative during the entire process. This made the MRI seem to take less time and I felt much more comfortable. Upon completion of the MRI they were quick to get me out of the room and walked me through my next steps to review my results in the coming days. Upon returning to the lobby I was unfortunately unable to pay for my parking as I was parked in a different garage associated with the hospital. It would be nice if regardless of the Brigham Women's garage parked in if the ticketing & payment was consistent so I can just take care of it right when finishing up at the hospital and not upon returning to the 80 Francis street garage. Overall it was a very smooth process, as typical to any location in Boston improved parking experience would make this a 5 star review.

Yelp
Beware of Lauren Sinnenberg, she is not a certified cardiologist, she is the worst for your health. She is very hussy, unprofessional and rude. She tried to blackmail my dad when he needed her help. It's a shame.

Yelp
MS Clinic I'm happy to finally have found a Dr who listens to my concerns about my health . The care at Brigham & Women's Hospital is top of the line in healthcare vs the care most receive in Rhode Island.

Yelp
Inpatient care is a nightmare. You will get no sleep. The food is horrifyingly bad with few healthy choices outside pasta and bread. Mostly inedible. Nurses range from great to why are you working in this field. The PCA's are a saving grace. The food leads to internal issues, the stress leads to anxiety, the multiple personalities of the nursing staff leads to more anxiety, and the lack of sleep along with your illness is like a visit to hell. I suppose it could be worse but this is pretty bad. It's clean though and not conducive to overall health and wellness. Stay well....

Yelp
It is a literal nightmare to get anything scheduled at this hospital. After traveling to the hospital 4 times for various different tests (including one which had to be postponed because the doctor never showed up), I was finally given a diagnosis and would require two operations. Two weeks before my first operation, I got a call that it was being rescheduled - pushed back by two weeks. Had to go back and change everything with work since I was now going to be out for recovery at a totally different time. The surgery itself did go very well and I am very grateful for that. It then took *one and a half months* of calling, leaving messages, e-mailing surgeons, to finally get a human being to call me back and book my second surgery. Which was done AFTER they had called the wrong number and left a voicemail for *someone who was not me* all the details about my upcoming date. They then booked it for me without actually talking to me because, again, they had called the wrong number. To be clear, my number was correct in their system; it was a careless misdial. So finally, after nearly two months of being completely ignored, I get my second surgery booked ... and this morning, they called to push it back by two weeks. Just like my first one. So now I have to go back ONCE AGAIN and re-schedule everything for work so that I can be away at a different time. I literally cannot imagine having to try to do this if I were an hourly worker. I feel like I completely do not matter and I truly hope I never have to book at this hospital again.

Yelp
If you need MFM care- steer clear of Dr. Easter. She pushed an induction on me (I did not have high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other major risk), instead using my multiple miscarriages against me. She terrified me of growing risk of loss with each passing week, telling me my son was no longer safe in me. She made it sound medically necessary, but I found out it wasn't from Dr. Easter herself. After giving into the induction (I originally turned it down) after being harassed by family on a daily basis because of Dr. Easter putting stillbirth in everyone's head, I finally went in. I proceeded to tell her that night in the hospital I couldn't go through with the induction anymore because of PTSD. You would think her response would be "this is best for you and your baby," but let me tell you what she actually said. "You are too far in the process" and "I thought an induction would be better for you because you would know what to expect - because of your trauma." Did she ever ask me my opinion on this? NO. She really thought someone with a trauma history would somehow benefit from doing an invasive induction. This supposedly planned, necessary, and in control birth was anything but. The labor ended with my son and I in a life-threatening emergency after hours of pushing. I was diagnosed with a rare complication last minute that was close to killing both of us. I had a traumatic emergency c-section - luckily not performed by Easter. However, I did lose my ability to vaginal birth. I never received an apology from Easter or even a check-in. I found it odd given even my gynecologist came to visit me before I left the hospital, and three other members from my delivery team apologized for the traumatic experience this ended up being. It has been 2 years, and I still have nightmares, physical complications, and PTSD. I was told by another doctor an induction should have never been recommended for me. It's been a devastating experience. I would like to end by saying Brigham has many wonderful, caring doctors, and I met many good doctors in MFM. Easter is a doctor hiding under the cover of fabulous MFM doctors that give the department its good reputation.

Yelp
This is a horrible hospital. All they care about is making a profit. Antony Masselli PA-C & David A Meguerdichian are the absolute worse. They had no concern for me after coming in the hospital for a concussion. After being the the hospital for two days he came into the room quoting the usual verse of basically kicking me out. Mind you I have insurance so that wasn't the case. After I screamed for him to get out he still proceeded to tell me I'm well and that I should be discharged. I told him he's not me and he doesn't know how I feel. All I need is just one more day but he didn't care and neither did the dimwit idiot David A. Meguerdichian. I came there to get well and better but left sick, weak and irritated by his stupidity of telling me I'm better.

Yelp
I made an appointment to visit their otolaryngology clinic a month ago. I have a diagnosis that requires a specialist. i have been in extreme pain for 6 months. i am also pregnant. when i made my appointment it was confirmed they accepted my insurance. i spoke to the registration department 4 separate times all that verified they accepted my insurance. 3 days prior to my appointment i was assured i was " allset" . I drove 2 hours to only be told when i got there that they weren't in contract with my insurance and i would have to pay out of pocket and reschedule. Needless to say i won't be returning, will find another provider and would not refer anyone to them. The receptionist was also unsympathetic.

Yelp
My first visit to visit someone at Brigham's. It's quite a challenge to navigate the halls and find correct elevators. I thought I may need my GPS to Find her room. The rooms were relatively small but bright with windows. The medical staff is 100% perfect. The patient food was good with a "room service" 12 hr menu to call and place orders when you are ready to eat. There is no set time where it's delivered to your room. The doctors she had while here for emergency surgery (while pregnant) were beyond 5 stars. Such a good experience and care from such a frightening situation. We Will be back for baby delivery in May.

Yelp
I got admitted to the er for abdominal pain waited 6 hours in the waiting room just for each nurse to call every patient but me then when they finally called me they have me waiting in the hall way I have sickle cell and told dispatch and the doctor and nurse and still haven't seemed to help me I told the nurse my veins were hard to find and she said ok and still stuck me to find no blood

Yelp
This hospital came recommended to me so I had high hopes, but an appointment is impossible to get. I tried submitting the online appointment request form for new patients, but nobody ever got in contact with me. No email. No phone call. Not even a confirmation that my form had been submitted. I submitted the form on 5 separate occasions spanning weeks and nothing. I also tried calling the number on the website 3 times and every single time they would transfer me to the correct department and then after 5 mins of being on hold it would automatically hang up on me. I've given up and plan on finding a different location.

Yelp
Shocked my the misogyny and cruelty of the staff at BWH. I had an ER experience here where the doctors called my family without my permission and made me undress repeatedly for a male provider without offering me a gown, without a female staff member in the room, and without telling me why (I was literally just standing there in my underwear not knowing why, which felt like sexual abuse). The doctor I saw has numerous reviews about him online complaining about how he is callous, cold, and writes strange and false diagnoses in people's charts, and this is exactly what happened to me as well. I complained to patient relations and chart corrections, and the process was lengthy and lacked transparency. The hospital basically did nothing to address my concerns, especially about my concern that this was a pattern of behavior for this doctor. They also did nothing do address the fact that I was asked to strip down for a male provider for no apparent reason with no gown. Ultimately I felt that I would have been treated very differently had I been a man, and I will never, ever go to BWH for any reason again.

Yelp
Yesterday I was in the emergency room. I lost conscience and I fell on the stone floor in the hot tub area. In the emergency they asked me if I hit my head. I said "no". But at home, I felt pain in my forehead and pain on left hip. How would they can ask me about hitting my head? People who lost conscience cannot say what happened with them. It is obviously that people DEFINITELY hit their heads because they could not protect their heads with their hands when they lost conscious. It is obviously, it is basic knowledge, it is without doubt. It is not necessary to be doctor to understand it. They didn't check my head. It could be an insult, it could be a concussion of the brain. I do not cease to be amazed at the irresponsibility and poor knowledge of doctors. We are not in the rural forest!

Endoscopy dept on 75 Francis st - My mother had to wait 3 hours...she was dehydrated and anxious. The receptionists were rude and it was never explained to her why she had to wait so long. When the procedure was finished, she was not offered water, juice or crackers, and the doctor never came to see her. Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this facility for endoscopies.

Yelp
Was in ER last Saturday night for head laceration. (4/10/2023) 5 hours into my treatment, I asked for a pillow from attending nurse. (The only one on duty). She laughed at me and said, "what do you think this is a hotel"?. I was told by her, "stay in your room" after asking to use toilet. She made me use Porta potty. Then didn't empty and left me in bed with no pillow and urine in a jug. Soon after she told me calm down, I'm just mad because I drank too much and hit my head. I was profiled and treated disgustingly. She was unprofessional and quite nasty, obviously hates working as a nurse. She should be removed before she hurts someone. She is a threat to health care!

Yelp
A coworker had an emergency and wanted to come here. They were in a lot of pain and made to wait for a while. As the building is under construction the waiting room for the emergency department is in a very public space that can be seen from the 'pike.' Unfortunately, we arrived during a shift change, so the wait was over 30 minutes to be moved to a bed. The exam was through and fast, as were the needed procedures. Then we waited over an hour to see the specialist. We were there for four hours total, most of it waiting on doctors and discharge treatments. The saving grace was our nurse. He was patient, kind, honest, and really worked with us to get us out of there. Without this nurse the experience would have been more difficult. We did get in early in the morning and it was very quiet, when we left there were patients on gurneys waiting in the hall. Brigham also has valet, a service I rarely use, but in an emergency it was a saving grace to be able to get them into the building and not worry about parking. Cost was 14 for four hours, which feels reasonable.

Yelp
Beware of getting unexpected bills. I was seen for an annual physical and pointed out a rash on my foot. Dr prescribed an ointment and billed me separately for a foot exam in addition to my physical, and given I hadn't hit my insurance deductible, I ended up owing $150. A couple months later, rash still there, so doctor recommended I see a dermatologist. Soonest appointment was in four months. Fast forward another month, rash is getting worse. I texted through the mobile app to see if I could see dermatology sooner given the long wait for an appointment. She responded "Can you come in today?" I show up at my appointment, at which point I realized it was to see a NP in the general practice, NOT dermatology. I knew she was going to bill me, so I explained I didn't want to get billed, and she offered me a chance to leave the appointment, or she said I could keep the appointment and she could send a picture to dermatology. Appointment lasted 10 minutes. Within hours of sending the picture, dermatology confirmed a benign rash. And I get another bill for $215, for what could have been solved through a simple text message and avoiding taking off of work as well. I followed up with a complaint to patient relations. After months of "investigating," they told me there is nothing they could do because I turned down the option to leave the second appointment. So Brigham ended up taking over $300 from me and got me no where. I will no longer be using this "business."

Yelp
If I could I would give it -100 stars! Worst hospital and organization ever. Was diagnosed with Lupus and trying to get my prescriptions renewed has been an absolute nightmare that I have gone weeks and months without prescriptions so then leaving me going to the emergency room. Dr. Gedmentas and her horrible staff think they are in the right after invoiced. Stay clear of them. They only want you dead, you're just a number. Because I voiced and demanded my prescriptions and better care. They are now kicking me out of their care and I am no longer having a doctor leaving me to be to probably dead.

Yelp
I like the care I've received at the Brigham, so I am upping it to a 5-star hospital review. Excellent, compassionate care.

Yelp
The hospital itself is clean and the doctors and nurses pretty attentive. They refused to let me stay with my husband who is hard of hearing, very confused and can barely speak due to multiple strokes after I flew 1400 miles from Florida to get him the cardiac procedure he needs. We are both retired on a very small fixed income and the flight rental car food and one night in a hotel after they threw me out of the hospital at 10 PM in a strange city when I have night blindness and I had to drive 30 miles to find a cheaper hotel because the ones near the hospital are between two and 300 a night. I had to fly back to Florida and leave him there by himself. No one calls to tell you what is going on and on the rare occasion you can get a hold of someone, they are clueless. I explained in great detail that my husband needs the plan of care that was discussed at a Dr visit in June. No one knew anything about it. They are planning to do a procedure that he's has been done 3x before totally unsuccessfully due to excessive scar tissue from a botched open heart surgery done a few years ago. I feel like I'm talking to the wall. I know the procedure they're planning to do will not work (scar tissue doesn't just magically disappear,) and he will either not be fixed or they will keep him even longer (he's been there a week already,) to do the procedure he really needs. In the first place. I had high hopes for this hospital after dealing with the worst healthcare in the country in Florida. It's sad things don't seem to be much better in Boston.

Yelp
What gives? My SO scheduled a regular OB appointment for prescription refills and it was cancelled on her two weeks out. While trying to be diplomatic in rescheduling, she was told the next available would be in a couple months and they'd "recommend not being cheap and paying out of pocket if it's an emergency". Well, what should be a routine visit has now become an emergency. We held up our end of the bargain and now left out to dry. I'd suggest taking better care of your patients, both in terms of their reproductive health and general courtesy. What is obviously a vacation day for staff has turned into a nightmare for us.

Yelp
I just returned home from taking my son to the ER to get tested for Strep and get him started on an antibiotic. The Secretary, sweet as pie. The nurses were hitting incoming patients out of the ballpark quickly and efficiently but guess what, no doctors were there to catch them. I was sitting in the ER for 2 and a half hours before the first and only doctor came to collect the first patient in the waiting area. Another hour and a half went by and no other doctor came out. So in 4 hours... one doctor came to get 1 patient. This is unheard of. It's so blatantly disrespectful to keep people waiting in a state of emergency like that, having only one doctor on the floor. It's dangerous and they ought to be ashamed of running a heavily funded hospital with no care. You should have heard the sickly complaints. One woman said she's super slippy and can't breathe well at all. Another woman had a concussion. You'd think they'd be a priority but again, only one doctor on the floor so not much they can do. I left. I wasted my time because on Monday I have to go to my son's hospital.

Yelp
You have to give one star to be able to review. Unfair but necessary. My first trip to the emergency room was fantastic. It relieved my pain and I left the emergency room feeling no pain. . The only problem was the after care was motrin. This did nothing to ease the pain. The doctor and nurse showed no empathy. The doctor, Christopher Nash was arrogant and denied what he initially said he would prescribe for high blood pressure and pain. I would never agree to wagain doctor again under any circumstances. Ended right back in the emergency room. the next day. When I told him I would be writing him an unsatisfactory review this came as no surprise to him. On Friday October 8th I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Dr(?) or intern Goldstein. He was abrupt and dismissive of my pain and immediately assumed I was drug seeking. He did a urine sample and a blood test and I never saw him again. The nurses kept saying he was with more acute patients than me. The emergency room was dead. It must have been ONE VERY ACUTE PATIENT as the emergency room was as quiet as a library!! I left after waiting nearby four hours for simple tests. The nurses were really nice and empathized with the long unnecessary wait. You could tell they felt bad but had to keep up the farce that he was so busy. I would never go back to this hospital with questionable doctors like Goldstein. I drove from New Bedford to Boston thinking I would get better quality care. I will stay local now as I can get the same shabby treatment with a lot less miles.

Yelp
Received a phone call from their billing department and was railed against and treated like scum from some billing rep guy. I've never been treated or even been in b y hospital. Nasty people.

Yelp
I met with the Dana-Farber/Brigham surgeon the other day. The resident doctor (who was basically studying and getting practice) was the one who read the notes about my case. The surgeon came into the scheduled appointment without having read any notes about me and without bothering to look up the history of my case. I know this because I saw the resident filling him in and asked him whether he had read the notes. The surgeon responded, "No: I'd like to get to know a patient personally." This type of doctor who is "too good for information" is not what I need. I'm putting on my walking shoes and aiming myself out of here.

Yelp
I went for a back rash and annual physical exam and received a bill for over $500 because the hospital billed this visit as signing work physical exam papers. Despite me reaching out to the hospital and the provider to resubmit the claim under correct billing codes, I did not hear back other than an initial message from the provider copying someone on the email to look into it without any response or resolution, and an initial email from billing saying they cannot do anything about it. Even a pay out of pocket physical exam costs less than half the amount being charged by this hospital. This is extorsion in the name of providing medical care to insured individuals, let along those without coverage!

The most amazing hospital I've ever been at in the past 10 years I've worked for my mother as her PCA care hands down! The best hospital in the country.

Yelp
Ordinarily I would be the first to toot the horn of Brigham and Womens Hospital on Francis Street. Today, it's more like a muffled whistle. I came in presenting severe cramping and it was determined I have a mass on my ovaries. I had 3 ultrasound IVs my veins clearly hate me. When I was taken to Cat Scan, I asked the nurse if someone could make my bed and take out the linen, sheets, etc. she was great and someone came. When I left the next morning I again, expected to have the room halfway decent I know staff are short everywhere. However, because I could not bare to stay in filth I found chemicals and wipes in a cart on the hall as well as a broom, mop and I was able to make my bed with sheets and a blanket I found. The woman sitting outside the door of another room asked me if I needed help, she waved down the housekeeping person and asked her to give me a sheet and pillowcases. She did and I swept the floor, mopped the floor, cleaned the sink, put the linen in the metal basket in the hallway. Not one time did anyone asked me if they could help. I'm done with the Luke warm food, lack of cleaning. After the exhaustion of cleaning my room in ER I now have a headache and chest pains. This is so sad. I should not have to say I am a CEO and Executive Director of 2 organizations and on the board of directors of 4 and I have my own nonprofit organization helping formerly incarcerated individuals and their children. #lets do better

Yelp
I was so excited to get the call on trial to such prestige hospital. First 2 weeks the staff was wonderful and provided family member chair in room even bed and pillow. Then they rotate you to different rooms. The moment your loved one leaves room for food or break, they take the chair. No joke.... it's a game with them. they try to push family out without communication. There is always groups of doctors at a time to discuss each part, but never any communication to patient or family member. No idea why ratings so high. You truly feel like a number here ...because you are only a NUMBER.... to them. Doctors at Yale ....that experience for stem cell was beyond remarkable. I wish that I stuck with them. Staff and Dictors ALWAYS explained to patients and family members with empathy....NOT Dana Farber. choose your hospital wisely if you can. Your family is your eyes and ears and if that means nothing....that's a problem to your success in treatment.... emotionally and physically.

Yelp
Brigham & Women's Hospital is located on Francis Street, between the Riverside (D) and Lechmere (E) Green Lines, though closer to the E Line and Huntington Avenue. Garage parking is an option as local streets are marked Resident Parking, though street parking may be found a walk away. The staff was great dealing with all the family and friends who came to visit the ICU. The Brigham & Women's cafeteria is located on the 2nd floor, and their prices are surprisingly affordable for a place that has a somewhat captive audience. Their baked sweet potato wedges are cheap at $1.75 and relatively healthy (170 cal) - they are crisp on the outside and soft healthy baked sweet potato within. Another friend enjoyed the deluxe grilled cheese that was made fresh to order and consisted of American, Swiss & provolone cheese with crisp bacon & grilled tomatoes on grilled Texas toast for $4.25 (700 cal). If you are hankering for something less healthy, they offer pizza by the slice till 7pm, as well as pie for $1.30 a slice and cake for $2.25. Prepped foods such as pre-made salad are located against the wall at the far end of the salad bar (was it 48 cents an ounce?). Yes, it is strange to review a hospital for its cafeteria, but when you visit several times over a 2 week period, you will most likely find yourself seeking nourishment at some point. Or maybe just a change of scenery.

Yelp
I've been a BWH patient for over two decades. I kept the same doctor. I never had health problems and going to my annual routine seemed fine. That said, I just hope to bring to light the systematic problems with this hospital and awareness of my recent frustrations from my experience. I recently visited the hospital for my annual check-up. After this visit to the office, I began to feel tingling sensations and needles in my left hand. I found it strange because of my healthy lifestyles. Also, the results of my tests were all normal, including: diabetes, cholesterol, B12 and D vitamins. For example, being deficient in B12 and/or a diabetic, are factors that can trigger this type of symptoms in people. In short, I am a healthy woman who is extremely disciplined with my diets and exercises. I felt that the symptoms came from something that didn't go well during the office visit. One of the obvious things I noticed after the visit was that I had developed a large bruise from the blood drawn test. After researching whether my symptoms were due to the blood taken, very little information was found on Google that pin points to any correlations. As time went by, my symptoms were not improving, I contacted my doctor for a follow-up visit. This visit was about 2 and half months later. The worst part is, I came home just to have the same symptoms developing in my right hand, which also include an acute pain, very sharp, (one-time) on the right side of my chest. At this point, I was able to accurately diagnose that the root cause of the problems was the pulse oximeter test, which this time was done on this hand's index finger. Obviously, the test was performed on the left hand's index finger, during the first visit. So, I took the matter to my hand and researched it, and have found that tingling and needles sensations are side effects of the pulse oximeter test, resulting in finger injuries due to the pressure caused. In short, I wanted an MRI, which evidently would've showed an accurate diagnosis of the blood vessels and damaged nerves. The MRI request was not acknowledged as a necessity. In addition, I've been denied for a request to see Specialist. That said, my insurance plan doesn't require a doctor's referral. However, the systematic issues of the hospital seem to ask for referral of the PCP to schedule a consultation with specialists. It is also worth noting another issue here is that patients from minority groups historically face setbacks in obtaining referral to consult specialists. In my opinion, by preventing patients from having an accurate diagnosis when things go wrong in hospital procedures, they will continue to perform these tests that cause more damage than any outcome they are trying to achieve for treatments in people (especially in healthy people). Furthermore, I'm still confused about the need to check my blood oxygen level during these visits. I have no history of respiratory or heart disease and have never been affected by COVID. In addition, there are other methods to use. Useful suggestions: do your research, eat healthy, rest, get yourself to the gym, do yoga, know your body, never stop learning about your health. Furthermore, leverage platforms like Google and YouTube, Podcasts, books, eastern medicines. My healing/recovery process now is all thankful to these. Further, limit medical consultations/doctor's office visits at all costs unless necessary. It is unfortunate to digest that health systems in the US are broken, have no innovation and equity. It is also sad mentioning this in 2022 that the systems are full of prejudices (conscious and unconscious) and built to oppress some groups. So that said, the important thing is to challenge the status quo in hospital practices and share your own experiences to help raise more awareness. This is my honest experience and deepest dissatisfaction at BWH after being a patient of the hospital for over two decades. Everyone's experience will vary. But be cautious, take care of yourself and your loved ones. If you think something is not right after a procedure or an antibiotic, listen to your body. Doctors and the hospital will always deny these truths due to the lack of equity in their systems. But you shouldn't. Be wise. Please don't overlook these online reviews. Last but not least, I sincerely hope that hospital administrations are reading these reviews and taking them seriously. My published photographs taken for the hematoma I developed from my annual blood test experience. P.s. I find it interesting that the "Write Reviews" feature for BWH is not available on Google.

Yelp
I don't often write a review but I think every woman thinking of delivering at this hospital should read this. Because of how big it is and how many different OB/prenatal/maternal health departments and providers they have, it is a complete zoo to navigate. They order tests without telling you where to get it. Doctors cannot be reached directly, and support staff don't respond. One morning, I learned I was scheduled for an ultrasound in a location 5 miles away from their main campus, and I was not told about it at the time of booking. Another time I went to get blood work done (after 30 min of not knowing which lab to go to), just to find out that there was missing documentation that the doctors should have given me prior. I am usually telling each of my doctors what the other doctor said, even if they are all in the same system. I have to proactively follow up on all my referrals, and then call to ask questions about my workup and appointments as there is little information on the appointment page. I work in the health care field and if I have a hard time navigating this mess, I can't image how hard it must be for other people. I say maybe go there if you have some very complex conditions, but for a normal delivery, this place is horrible.
