Google
I had a cortado and the bright bowl and sat outside - it was all lovely! Staff was great too, will be coming back to brave the vegemite on the menu for the true Aussie experience.

Google
Favourite Aussie nyc cafe… feels just like a cafe if aus. They even have Vegemite on the menu (iykyk) Hands down best coffee It is a must! I can’t go past the avo on toast with the feta on the side

Google
I really wanted to like this restaurant bc I live in the building and it would be very convenient if they made good coffee, but they don’t. The bodega across the street has far better coffee and smoothies. Furthermore, the wait is tremendously long and all of the lovely plants they once had are dying.

Ceren Topçu-Weigand

Google
The croissants here are excellent, the green bowl is delicious, and the coffee is pretty good. The team is always friendly and helpful, and the crowd is cool! It's also stroller-friendly, making entry easy for families. I genuinely want to love this café because it has so many positives. However, there's an issue with the smell inside—like burned butter or fat mixed with cleaning detergent—that unfortunately lingers on my clothes and hair, even after a brief visit. Improving ventilation could greatly enhance the overall experience. Also, the parfait could use some improvement. Perhaps it's popular and frequently sells out, but it's excessively sweet, especially considering we're in 2025 when lighter, less sugary options are appreciated.

Google
Excellent coffee at a good price and really nice staff. Made me realize I actually did like espresso. Food is a little pricey but very good. Very very good avocado toast. Bread is so crispy.

Google
Hit or miss with coffee: their latte was great but the decaf coffee was burnt and bitter unfortunately. The croissant was good, kids liked it. The patio is simple but great, plenty of seats and tables in the sun or in the shade. Close to the ferry.

Google
This Williamsburg coffee shop offers a stellar location, complete with indoor and outdoor seating options. Their lattes are a standout, and the overall vibe is just right for a relaxing afternoon hangout. Whether you're catching up with friends or looking for a quiet spot to work, this cozy coffee joint is definitely worth checking out.

Google
Another wonderful establishment fighting eggflation. Yummy coffee, amazing banana bread, and the brekkie smoothie is all-time. Don’t miss out on chatting with the staff ;) This place rocks!

Yelp
Nice service, good food, casual vibes, lots of seating, and family-friendly. Easy to get in and out with a stroller and grab a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Bright Side was the first place I tried when I moved to New York. I needed a quick bite so I got a croissant and a flat white. The croissant was THE WORST croissant I've ever tasted in my life. It was stale, cardboard-y, and I struggled to bite off a piece. I'm not sure how long it had been sitting there. I was actually shocked by how bad it was. After coming back a few times, the coffee is pretty decent. I am scared, however, to try any other food at this cafe. +1 star for the coffee.

Yelp
Ok so Im updating my review because the drip coffee was definitely great today. Bold and strong, $3.50. Super busy inside since it was a Saturday afternoon with pretty limited seating, a few open tables outside but a bit too breezy to sit and enjoy. Friendly service.

Yelp
Bright Side is one of the rare coffee shops in Williamsburg not overrun with people elbowing each other for a seat. And I'm honestly puzzled as to why. The place is adorable, tucked away on the ground floor of an apartment complex by the waterfront. Maybe that's why it's not packed, it's a little removed from foot traffic. Their loss is my gain. I sat in one of their booths the other day and parked myself there with my laptop. The Wifi was pretty solid and both the dirty iced chai and iced matcha I had were made well. The staff was genuinely sweet, in a way that made me feel like they'd remember me the next time I visit. A couple of drawbacks-- they close at 4pm and I didn't see any outlets. But these are small prices to pay for a couple of hours of peace in this neighborhood. If you're tired of packing in tight quarters in most of New York's coffee scene and want a place where you can actually hear yourself think, give Bright Side a try.

Yelp
A cute cafe with great vibes -- it's right along the water and I loved that they had so much seating right outside to enjoy the great weather. The Golden Latte was decent, though it got a bit chalky at the end. I know they serve food, so would come back to try that sometime too!

Yelp
Cool vibes, peaceful location by the water. We came inside because it was pretty windy outside on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were really chill. We ordered the French toast, which was cut into smaller pieces. It came with maple syrup and ricotta whip. The ricotta was lemony, sweet, and oh so decadent. I'd come back to try their coffee next time.

Yelp
Service 5 stars Food 5 stars Vibe 5 stars Great place for breakfast/brunch. The food was delicious. But on the pricier side. It better have been all organic farm sourced lol. The waiter let us enjoy our meal and conversation without rushing us. The weather was great so we enjoyed their outside seating. Will def come back if I'm in the area

Yelp
Cute neighborhood spot by the waterfront. Super nice if you live on the waterfront. It's the closest to the water front, their coffee is good (although smaller portion lattes than other coffee shops) and their smoothies (Brekkie smoothie) tastes good too. My only complaint is that the prices are pretty expensive, a smoothie is $12 and its not even a large smoothie. This is a great place to spend a morning, especially if you're sitting outside, but beware its not a friendly place to work. There's minimal chargers and I think they keep it that way intentionally.
google avatar

Scott N.

Yelp
I kept trying to like this spot because it's so conveniently located to me, but each time I go something goes wrong. I've had orders get lost, food take too long, food make me feel 'off', or something else. It's a nice location with decent scenery, which made me keep trying. But just can't justify going back.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Cute cafe! It's a bright and clean space, albeit the bathroom was a little dirty. The staff were super nice. It's a great place to chill, catch up with a friend, or even to work / study. There's also some seating outside. I got the porrdige which was slightly sweet. The texture of the porridge reminds me of oatmeal.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
We came for a coffee in the afternoon. Bright Side had plenty of outdoor and indoor seating available. Service was good and we weren't rushed. Overall a cute place and I'd come back for another coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely Australian cafe on the waterfront in Williamsburg. Friendly service which is normally quite fast. It's a modern/trendy vibe that is reminiscent of a Melbourne-style cafe. The food is decent though expect more brunch style food than lunch. It's usually not too busy so you can get a table pretty easily. Only real critique is the price, it's extremely expensive (like $25+ for avocado toast with coffee) but I guess you get what you pay for!
google avatar

Sanchi O.

Yelp
Friendly service, good matcha that isn't just milk, great smoothies, cool interior design and ambience, love the outdoor seating. Highly recommend the brekkie smoothie!
google avatar

Rita H.

Yelp
Had a good cold brew and my dining partners enjoyed their lattes and another cold brew. Near the riverfront for a nice stroll after getting your coffee.
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
It's a really nice cafe, good place to hang out and relax. The food was pretty pricey and in my opinion just so-so. The avocado toast is LOADED with avocado though. Matcha latte was decent!
google avatar

Kate W.

Yelp
Latte was truly in the smallest cup I've seen in the entire Brooklyn... and the cup wasn't even filled up to at least near the top... didn't taste too great either. The ambiance of the cafe has so much potential but sadly this place is out of my budget. Service was meh. There is a restaurant with service in the back, and I think those seats are reserved and not for grab-and-goers. Otherwise, the seating area in the front and outside are available.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Great little cafe conveniently located in Williamsburg! Great brunch options and outdoor seating

James N.

Yelp
Ordered a drink and sat down just to do some paperwork. They tried to pressure me to order more food twice. No thanks way too expensive.

Aoife K.

Yelp
Not one to ever leave reviews, let alone a bad one, but this was the worst service experience I've ever received. Go elsewhere for your overpriced extremely watered down coffee, and don't even dare to sit down outside if you've gotten your coffee to go.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a hip new cafe right off Kent Ave that is appropriately named with a lot of sun and a nice bright interior. Most importantly, they serve Nick + Sons croissants, which are among the best in the city. This is a great new option for coffee and an excellent snack.

Erika A.

Yelp
I go back and forth with this place. Pros: cool vibe, great staff, convenient, good food menu. Cons: pricey, coffee is just ok, constantly messing up online orders. Warning: i learned today that they don't list all of their ingredients. For example, the avocado toast is loaded with butter and I have a dairy allergy. If the ingredient was listed I would have requested to omit it. Seems slightly negligent on their part.
google avatar

Leemor Y.

Yelp
Came here again for brunch and to finally get one of the Nick + Sons croissants (4.7/5). My 5 stars still stand. Great quality coffee and food. Açaí bowl (4.3/5) was beautiful and fresh.

Abby A.

Yelp
love this place and nina the server is so funny and helpful! the vegemite was very good
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Fun place. The Poached Eggs on toast is outstanding. Including the kimchi (not too spicy) even the toast by itself is really good. The coffee is good too
google avatar

Yelp
Aesthetic = 100%. Clean, charming, courteous. All the great C's. The baristas are super friendly and an absolute delight. They even brought over water for me (I didn't request it) when I sat down to enjoy my coffee and read. Customer service was amazing and the manager&team combo needs to be recognized. Haven't had any pastries from here yet but they certainly looked amazing.

J T.

Yelp
Go elsewhere, way overpriced for coffee, there are many cheaper options around. ordered iced coffee and she didn't even fill the cup, not enough ice at all and coffee was bitter, possibly cold brew?
google avatar

Alexandria B.

Yelp
Today I so happened to do a random drop by, trying new things out! I Was extremely flabbergasted by the service, Our Barista ROB was exceptional, If you so happen to visit Ask for him!!! Hot Chocolate & Beer was very tasty, and was gone within moments;) Thanks so much for this amazing, welcoming experience! will be back again!

Annika N.

Yelp
Cute interior and exterior, but they really use it as an excuse to jack up the prices. with tax and tip my acai was $17.50. And honestly it was the worst acai bowl i can remember having. Very little food for the price too. And measly amount of fruit toppings, along with a not actually acai smoothie bowl.

Yelp
Service was OK however their food is really below average it gave me an nauseous right after I eat it this is not a place to eat maybe get a coffee but definitely don't try the food also when you pass by the kitchen it smells really bad.

Erica P.

Yelp
Service - yikes!! I walked up to the counter to buy a smoothie for take away. I opted to not tip because it was a pick up order right? Well upon walking to the pick up area, the worker who I ordered from walked over to me and said "just so you know for next time, gratuity is not included." I was baffled! Won't be returning if this is a place that chooses to lash out at customers who don't tip when purchasing a smoothie for take away.

Yelp
Very good quick food. Came here with a friend for a quick breakfast. The service was very quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. We got the green bowl and egg on a bun. Both were very tasty. My only thing would be don't come here hungry, the portions are nott the biggest. We also got a croissant which was delicious. Highly recommend for a quick breakfast.

Yelp
We popped in this weekend for takeaway breakfast. Our first time at the cafe, and it was a 10/10 experience. Decor is clean, minimal, and modern. We were greeted by the most charming staff at the counter. We placed our order and decided to wait outside to enjoy the sunshine. It was ready to go in under 5 minutes and the quality was that of a sit down restaurant. If you want to taste the best avocado toast and coffee, you've got to stop by Bright Side Cafe! I lived in Sydney briefly, and haven't had coffee or avocado toast this amazing since. Wow! It's as if I stepped into a portal and had breakfast in Oz. Thanks guys! Definitely our new breakfast/lunch spot.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic spot. Great location, indoor and outdoor decor, and somehow was surprisingly quiet on a weekend. Chai latte was great, staff was easily the best thus far in my Brooklyn coffee shop touring (lol) and I will certainly be back. Highly recommend as a coffee aficionado.

Yelp
A very hip Australian style cafe with wonderful food and strong coffee & tea selections. They are even open during the pandemic, and we have visited and they have their cafe ready to accommodate. I'm not sure if they have outdoor seating now, but they did start delivering on Caviar. I appreciate and adore the food, as well as the service. We visited here before NY was on pause, so we have eaten there, and it's dog friendly (outside, anyway) when they do have seating there. They will bring the food to you if you "dine in," but we'll see how things change with Phase 2. Service is excellent, and the food is good. Seriously, anything you get will be delicious. The mushroom toast? Fantastic. The crumpet hot cakes? Best item on the menu- my partner requests it for delivery all the time. The sides are great too. Love the grilled halloumi! I've never had coffee here (since I don't drink it) but my partner loves it, and I enjoy their iced chai AND their turmeric lattes. Yummy. Especially with all the options. One of my top choices to eat when I'm in the area.
google avatar

Willie G.

Yelp
Great Avocado toast! On my days off, a nice walk to the Willie B water front, we stop off here first and munch by a beautiful view of the River.
google avatar

Cado H.

Yelp
$7 (w tip, more) for a 6 oz matcha. Totally ridiculous. Insulting. Barista wasn't particularly friendly. Matcha quality didn't justify the price. I will not be returning. Your prices just drove me away. There are much better and friendlier places.

Adam M.

Yelp
I think it's a good idea to provide utensils when a customer orders deliver or take out especially when a customer requests that when making an order - out of the last 10 times requested I got the utensils maybe twice ... I am at work and don't have utensils .... Your food is great Step it up with the details ;)
google avatar

Rob H.

Yelp
I just love their pastries, the croissants are Paris quality! BUT they almost always run out early - you can go in at 10 and find they have zero of any kind left. So I don't go in that often unless I'm around very early. Bright side owners, please order more from your bakery each day!

Kelly G.

Yelp
I'm a bit surprised by all of the stellar reviews. My coffee was average and the cookie I got was yummy but hard as a rock. The interior was also rather dirty (especially the bathroom). I loved the decor but likely won't return.
google avatar

A D.

Yelp
I love the drinks, the food, the service. The atmosphere is always chill, clean, and pretty decor. I come here all the time and it is consistently good. Thank you!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
This place has an awesome vibe, the staff is always friendly, and the food is surprisingly amazing and health. I loved the açaí bowl, the bright bowl, and can't wait to try the green bowl. My friends loved the egg sandwiches.
google avatar

Angela V.

Yelp
Portions are a JOKE! 15 dollars for a bowl that was empty. Felt cheated by this place. Do not go here.

Pawan K.

Yelp
Such friendly staff and a scenic location for a coffee shop! Ordered a soy latte with two shots of espresso. Must dine in next time.

Viktoria C.

Yelp
Great menu selections. However.. forget items in your order. And the salmon was cooked way over and dry.
google avatar

Thomas O.

Yelp
Strong delicious coffee and tasty croissants. A little pricy but the atmosphere is great and the Asian Barista is always super friendly. The Cold brew here is fire.
google avatar

Rory D.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for Australian coffee shops. This place has great coffee and an amazing aesthetic. Plus, the Vegemite on toast is .
google avatar

Lavant G.

Yelp
I am impressed, Bright Side was simply mind-blowing. Wonderful ambiance, clean and good service. They have a lovely menu too. I became good friends with the staff, who are all outstanding and super helpful. Bright Side - See you soon guys.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
I just can't for the life of me understand why this place is literally never cleaned (walls that are white are turning black) and why they want you to wait for a waiter (which takes forever) if you want to sit down with a coffee when you could just go up and order it at the counter in a minute or less. Strange policy.
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Solid 'Australian' (meaning the owners are from Aus) coffee shop serving Counter Culture coffee (my favorite). They just started serving food so will update review once I try a few items. You can tell the care given to creating the interior which is cheery and bright. Glad they are here!
