Before I explain why I'm giving this store a bad review, I'll preface with this--FairOaks mall is dying. I went on a Sunday at noon and the mall was practically empty with only one-two people in any store at a time. Often there weren't any people in the stores. Brighton is no exception. My friend and I were the only ones in the store besides one other woman, and because this store pays their workers partly through commission, one of the sales associates immediately locked onto me and would NOT leave me alone the entire time.
She first asked if we were looking for anything (pretty standard) and we both said nope, just browsing (which is code for 'please leave me alone.') This woman, who's name I forgot but had tan skin and dark hair, then proceeded to hover beside us while we browsed earrings, just staring holes into us. Awkward....she leaves and I go to look at a handbag. My eyes are on this bag for 5 seconds when another sales associate comes over and says "if you like THAT bag, take a look at this one!" And then shows me a very different and very ugly bag. I have to pretend to appreciate it and make vague "wow that's nice" comments while the lady goes on and on about the stitching and how much work went into it.
At this point im very uncomfortable and I can tell im about to be roped into buying stuff so I throw out a "im just thinking ahead to Christmas for my mom," which seems to be an invitation to the original worker that hovered to try to sell me a different bag. She shows off the lifetime warranty and forces me to "feel the texture" of the bag. Meanwhile, im trying not to be overtly rude but im also trying to send signals that im not interested at all. Then she glances down at the coach purse I was wearing and says, "you know, Coach doesn't offer a warranty like we do." What!??? How rude is that!?
I then tell her im not buying anything today and then she goes on to try and persuade me to create a wishlist, to which I say no. At this, she makes the nastiest, most judgmental face. I guess she was confused as to why I had no interest in her incessant and desperate attempts to get my money. My friend could tell I was uncomfortable and said "hey let's go to xyz," giving me an out. I tell the woman, again, thanks but no thanks, and she just says "hm....okay..." in an extremely awkward manner, scowling and walking away. My friend and I practically ran out of there. I have NEVER experienced such blatant disregard for a customers comfort. This woman had no tact or compassion, I only wish I knew her name so I could warn people about her terrible customer service.
I'm sorry to say I'll stick to shopping online just to avoid their terrible store atmosphere.
