For quite some time I've encouraged my fella to wear a 'real' hat! Ball caps are ok, but a real hat or cap is ever so distinguished. I've never been able to get him to try one on. That changed this weekend and we just got back from Brim! Krissy is a perfect fit at this cozy shop. She patiently walked through hat styles, materials, origins, sizing, etc. She provided informative commentary and specific compliments that were ever so personable and thoughtful. The shop is not overwhelming in size yet the selection is astounding. This is truly gem in the City of Dayton.

Let the record reflect that I did not patron this local small business. I did however stop to grab some selfies of the unique artwork on the side of the building. The neighborhood is walkable. The street was closed to ensure walkability so I drove down a back alley - totally safe and wider than anticipated, not narrow, came across another art piece (snapped a photo), and I parked on a side street. I quickly grabbed my photos as a friendly Daytonian wanted to let me know there was no parking allowed where I chose to pull up. I then headed 5 minutes down to the fountains and waterfront. It's kinda cool that something as small as a hat can transform an outfit. It can change the way you see yourself, while enhance the way others view you upon first glance. That tends to be the moment that sticks more often than not. While Brim, might be labeled a hat store, they offer so much more. It's literally an experience in itself to have such a wide selection of quality but even more so to have people that will go above and beyond to help you style an outfit or coordinate accessories should you need help or be on the fence. And if you're the shy type, they will pump you up with the confidence you deserve to pull that vibe you desire. I've lost count with the amount of things purchased at this point but I can gladly say I've not bought anything with my hard earned cash that I've regretted. I think what's more important and attributes to my frequent visits is, I've always been treated like more than a customer even on their bad days...I've always been treated like family.

Today I went into the store to purchase a couple of hats. I asked the lady how much for one and she gave me a price. She also gave me a price on a second hat. When she rang me up and I got my receipt. I looked and one of the hats was 70.00 more than what she quoted me. I said, " I thought you said this hat was 230.00 and not 313.00? She looked at the hat and then looked at her register and proceeded to tell me "oh I'm sorry it looks like the hat went up in price without it being put on the hat" she then told me that she could not do anything about it and that she could give me an extra hat box. I told her this is not good business and she told me she could not get in touch with the owner. I told her this is crazy! She also told me that she couldn't take it off or refund me and that she so so sorry. Well, you and the owner just lost a customer because as much as I loved the hats and brims, I will not be coming back!😡 Food for thought: make sure what's on the price tag matches up with what this horrible customer service lady rings up!!!!

Went to purchase my Wife the perfect hat, It took awhile to find but with some help she was able to walk out with a hat she Loved. Very helpful and not rushed at all. Made my Wife feel special and like she was the only person that mattered at the time. Thank you so much!

During a recent visit to Dayton, we explored the Oregon Historic District and enjoyed the plethora of unique shops, eateries, and architecture. One of our favorite shops was Brim, the store that put the 'H' in hats! Brim has a wide selection of hats for both men and women, many of which are unisex. The sales person with whom we dealt was very knowledgable and helpful with choosing a size and variety. They have everything from fedoras, patch caps, flat caps, bucket hats, boleros, derbies, beanies, and more, with price points for every budget. Be sure to check out the back right corner of the store for a wonderful selection of sale hats! In addition to hats they have jewelry, gloves, scarves, shaving supplies and other accessories. My hubby left with two hats that he absolutely loves. I can't imagine there is a finer hat store anywhere within miles! Be sure to check them out if you are in the Dayton area!

On a recent visit to the Dayton, OH area we found a true gem of a hat store, BRIM, located in the middle of the Oregon Historic District. You can't miss this three story eclectic shop painted neon yellow. Brim has a wide array of hats for men, women and a myriad unisex styles. I personally purchased two hats, one a grey Irish Lid and the other a Summer weight 'Indiana Jones' hat. The sales staff were exceptionally helpful choosing the right style and size. Include this establishment on your next visit along with the countless others in the Oregon District.

Can't believe I haven't written this review yet. I love, love, love this store. For one thing, it has a dog for a greeter. He will get up and run around the counter to welcome you! Secondly...the hats. So many hats, so little time. I've bought many a hat here, for both myself and my husband. Don't tell anyone but there are always sale hats in the back corner of the store. Any often times the offer an extra discount on the markdowns. There's also jewelry, gloves, shaving supplies. It's just fun to come in and look around whenever in the area. And right around the corner is the Dayton Inspires selfie station. How fun is that?

Completely in love with this store, this is my first time being here while it's my dads second. They were very cooperative and let us try the sizes on. They also had a very wide selection of hats, the customer service was outstanding to me and my dad as well. The store is also very well organized, and doesn't have any messes. I'm glad I went, and I plan on coming back soon. We are in love with the hats as well. No complaints at all, they also had sunglasses, a selection of bracelets, and types of bandanas. There is some very beautiful rings as well and everything is a reasonable price.

Great selection and service. I rarely write reviews but this place deserves it! I signed up to be on their mailing list ... with the over saturation of emails in our in-boxes, that says a lot.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The last time I had been in the neighborhood, it was outside their business hours and I was so sad to not get to poke around. However, going back especially for ChaCha's House of Ill Repute trunk show made it that much more special when I finally made it back. The place was packed, but everyone there was so helpful and friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the mix of hats--plenty of men's and women's--and mix of jewelry and other interesting accessories. Shop dog? Yeah, big bonus! If I lived in Dayton, I'd be here on the regular. It has such a fun vibe, I wouldn't be surprised if people come by begging to do photo shoots in here. Kudos to the amazing staff! I'll be back every time I'm in Dayton.

Brim was really an impromptu stop after lunch for myself, brother, mother and grandmother. And we all left with hats as diverse as our personalities. As I'm not a huge hat aficionado, I can't name them all unfortunately, but they ran the gamut from wooly baseball cap to adjustable diamond top straw hat with flip brim. Bonus points for awesome owners, penny countertop, yellow chair and free French Bulldog pats. If you love hats or think you might be at that point in your life where you need a hat... make this a priority stop.

I love hats! I don't necessarily have a head for hats, but I love them! This place is fantastic! The staff and the selection of hat are awesome! I highly recommend this place for hat lovers!

I wanted to wait to wright this review with a picture of my stylish outfit. However, I couldn't hold my excitement any longer. I had my first magical experience at Brim on Fifth. Ana was insightful and fun to work with. She helped me put together a complete look. Her love for hats and fashion put a true smile on my face. Sometimes we don't realize how one act of kindness can change a persons entire day. Thank you Ana for your great conversation, love of fashion, energy, and hat runway (lol)!

Amazing store full of quality hats. You won't find rastafarian costume hats here. The staff was helpful and friendly. I've purchased 6 hats here and have been thrilled with them. I don't live in the area, but visit the shop when I'm in town visiting family.

Yes! As GREAT as it gets. I've purchased a couple Egg Cup hats here now and have loved wearing them. The hats here are beautifully curated and displayed. The owner and employees also understand that purchasing a true/classic hat (that requires some level of investment) is a time consuming purchase. They are always ready with suggestions and ideas on how to wear, care and accessorize your existing chapeaux or new purchases. Prices range from affordable and fantastic to beautifully indulgent.

Really loved my time at this store. The owner was very charismatic, friendly and knowledgeable. If you think you would like a hat that ventures beyond your baseball cap collection give this place a try.

This store was an experience I will endeavor to repeat every time I make it back to Dayton. I love hats and this store had a fantastic selection for both men and women. It was a lot of fun walking around, trying on the various types of hats. The hardest part was choosing just one!

Dont shop here unless you are you are ok with customer has no value. Bought a hat, tried to return it three hours later with receipt and they said sorry no exchanges without tags which they cut off!! Clearly no interest in customer satisfaction! I am a big believer in supporting small business owners, so it was very disappointing when their "rules" were so inflexible. There was a human element here, I was in the store three hours ago, and the person at the counter knew that. I would have had better luck at a walmart and thats not a good thing.

Used to shop here. The owner and I disagreed a year ago on a legal issue I as a citizen had the right to question. This issue was completely unrelated to the store. I stopped in last week to ask about something and was treated like garbage. Glad we're all adults in business. Never again.

This store is amazing! They have an incredible selection of hats. The staff is very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and have helped me find 3 great hats that fit my look and my budget. I've visited twice over the last three years and I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. This is a fun place to browse even if you aren't looking for a hat. They are located in the historic Oregon neighborhood--among some great local shops and restaurants.

I stumbled on this shop while at the Oregon District Taste festival. I was moderately surprised at the selection. Would definately recommend visiting.

Amelia was wonderful to work with! I walked in expecting to be rejected with my large hat size needs. Not only did they have a hat for me but multiple to slchoose from. The only place I will be buying my hats in the future.

I go visit Brim every time I'm in the Oregon Dist. Love the selection. If you don't think hats are for you, stop in and chat with the knowledgeable staff. They will help you see that there is a hat for every head!

I got an actual hat with a fake bird in it. It is awesome and that's all this review needs to say! I want my boyfriend to get a top hat so he can wear a monocle with it, but he doesn't seem too keen on the idea. Maybe someday.

If you're in the market for a hat, this is the place to be! They have just about every type of hat, including TONS of fedoras of every color. They even have XL and XXL sizes for people like me with gigantic melon heads. The staff is always attentive, and they've got a knack for finding a hat that goes with your style.

High quality, artisan items. The feel of the shop is interesting (in the best way possible). Make sure to stop in if you're downtown Dayton or running around the Oregon District.

The growth of hat shops (sure, there aren't really that many) is a great thing. Brim is one of the few independent shops on offer (lots of Goorin Bros., out there, but that's not bad, either.) The selection of really high quality hats is stunning, the staff (owners?) are welcoming and knowledgeable; the layout and design is great. I have enough hats, if that's possible, but I ended up with a great leather belt - they do have some accessories. If you don't think you need a hat then hit Brim and they might change your minds. A great shop in the Oregon district.
