10 Best Hotel Saunas Around the World Worthy of Your Next Sweat Session | Condé Nast Traveler

"Set in the Langdale Valley near Ambleside, this contemporary, landscape-inspired spa rarely feels crowded and is scented with dried flowers and herbs; the highlight for me is the thermal journey through a sequence of saunas—Finnish, lava and herbal—and steam rooms that include mineral and Himalayan varieties. The indoor/outdoor pool is warmed by an open fire, the spa offers private bubble spas and couples treatments, and the spa deli serves vegetable mezze and smoked fish alongside a menu ranging from short facials to longer post-operative and ritual body treatments using herbal and floral ingredients." - Charley Ward

Brimstone Hotel & Spa | Best places to stay in the Lake District

"If it’s out-and-out luxury you’re after, the Brimstone is the ideal choice. This is a special place to really spoil yourself, modelled on a posh ski hotel: there are log-burning stoves and huge emperor beds in every room, a fabulously indulgent spa and customer ‘hosts’ on hand to arrange activities – everything at the Brimstone is designed to cater to your every need. There’s even a boot room with gear to borrow, supplied by premium brand Arc’teryx. Factor in the wonderful location on a private estate in Langdale, and you have an adults-only hotel that really takes some topping. " - Oliver Berry

Had an absolutley fabulous 2 night stay at Brimstone. We had a Mezzanine Loft Suite which was gorgeous. From the moment you arrive the staff can't do enough for you and the knock on the door at 5pm for cocktail hour was a real treat. Can't say that we were overly enamoured with the Spa but the fact that it's included in the package is nice. The surrounding area is stunning and we had a number of relaxing walks, breakfast also very good apart from staffing issues which were being dealt with as best they could.

My friend and I spent 2 nights in the lake district but just a 1 night spa break at the Brimstone. The spa break included bed breakfast, 3 course dinner, spa, skin analysis service and a 50 minute massage. On arrival We were greeted by Fernando who was lovely and showed us to our room, we stayed in a plush suite which was delightful. Large room, huge bed, huge tub, and an amazing balcony. We were able to check in early which we were super grateful for and allowed us to make as much use of our short time there as we could. Rooms have use of a ghd hairdryer and ghd styler which is great as well as the usual like coffee, tea, snacks etc. The spa is beautiful, the massage was well needed, chloe did an amazing job and we spent about 5 hours there altogether including some time in the spa deli which had lovely views. Dinner was in the stove restaurant and we were both really happy with the food however our table was booked for 7.45 as part of our itinerary and it was just too late to eat for us so in hindsight I wished we had changed this, but that was the only negative thing I can say about the brimstone. Oh and that we only stayed 1 night! Breakfast can be eaten in the stove restaurant or you can order from a smaller selection to your room free of charge. We chose to do this and eat on the balcony which was a far cry from our usual breakfast location and i now want to do this everyday! :) we had a wonderful stay and we're already discussing a return visit for longer next year to include time for some of the beautiful walks in the area.

(Note that this is a review of the Brimstone. Food (Stove restaurant) is reviewed separately)||Wonderful experience from start to finish! A great welcome and tour of the room & reading area on arrival, and every service touchpoint throughout was stellar (including a knock at the door on our first night, to be handed complimentary cocktails).||The room itself (Spa Suite) was incredible, better than it looks in the pictures, with lots of space available and a huge balcony area. Access to - complimentary - snacks and beverages (including beers and wins) from the reading room in the building is the icing on the cake and creates an additional layer of luxury.||The spa was great too - a tip, get there early (when it opens) and you may well have it to yourself for an hour or so!

Nice atmosphere comfortable stylish fresh decor|Good selection of food for non meat eaters also.|Friends had chicken sandwich/ burger very good but 2 of us had the goats cheese & beetroot salad. Lovely presentation but sadly too small for the price, not enough leaves/ goats cheese. I love salads & felt a bit cheated at the cost of this one. Please increase the size as the taste was great

Absolutely amazing! This is was better than 5 star hotels I have stayed at, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and level of amenities available. The star was the beautiful location surrounding the hotel and the amazing staff! Every staff member was going out of their way to provide an excellent service and especially Sue who supported us as the host, was phenomenal! She made the stay so amazing, always present with her beautiful smile and aura- thank you so much for making this experience even more enjoyable for us! 100000% recommend staying here if any one is in doubt or looking for some where with quality service and amenities! Thank you to all Brimstone staff! :)

We recently stayed at Brimstone in Room 15 to celebrate our anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The accommodation is exceptional—beautifully designed, luxurious, and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay feel really special. Our first night in particular was wonderful, and we’d like to give a special mention to Chloe, who was outstanding throughout and made us feel genuinely welcome.||That said, we did feel let down by the dining experience at Stove. The menu read very well, but unfortunately the dishes we ordered were bland, dry, and lacking in flavour or presentation. This was a real disappointment, especially when compared to the outstanding standard of the hotel itself.||Similarly, on our first evening we ordered two chicken burgers via room service, which unfortunately arrived overcooked and burnt. At the time, we chose not to raise it, thinking it may have been a one-off, but after our dining experience at Stove, we felt it important to share this feedback.||Over the past three years, we’ve celebrated our anniversary at various highly rated hotels in the Lakes, and this is the first time we’ve felt compelled to raise concerns of this nature. We don’t take leaving negative feedback lightly, but we feel the dining should truly reflect the exceptional quality of the accommodation.||EMAIL SENT TO HOTEL FOLLOWING OUR VISIT BUT NO REPLY RECEIVED- Very disappointing!

Incredible stay at the Brimstone. The plush room was really lovely - comfy, clean and big balcony terrace. The reading room - with complementary drinks and snacks (incl. evening cheese boards) - was fab. We also enjoyed three trips to the spa. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Great hotel. Lovely rooms and spa is nice. Free snacks and staffs attention to detail was of very high standard. We got the spa package which was of good value. The Only downside was the food at the linked restaurant The Stove, which was mediocre, and the service speed was glacial
