Tranquil trip away to the Lake District made even better by our stay at Brimstone. Was my partners birthday and it felt special. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel is in such a good location, so quiet and peaceful on the estate. We loved the reading room, games and unlimited drinks/snacks. Beautiful room and views. The little touches are so lovely! Real fireplace in bedroom makes it so cosy! Spa is really nice too.

Nearly rated as a 5! |The room was fantastic. Quite something for a special occasion. We went for Room 9 with the waterfall bath and the room is enormous (as is the balcony). We liked the fire and the bath. The lighting being able to choose different settings is really nice as you can tailor it to your mood. |It’s so quiet in the room too. Even though you have others in the room below and a lift opposite the room, you absolutely can’t hear them. |The Reading Room is a good quirk being able to select drinks and snacks. |The only thing we would say is that we had no milk provided in the room or the reading room. It meant we couldn’t make hot drinks. It’s worth persevering to get the TV working with Google Cast to play Spotify etc - it’s nice getting music into the bathroom! |I would recommended not eating in The Stove but asking for the food to be brought to your room given that it gets quite busy there with families if you want something more intimate (food is excellent though!)|Thanks to the host Chris who was very friendly and helpful.

I booked Brimstone as a treat for my boyfriend's birthday and it did not disappoint. I chose the autumn package which was £700 bed, breakfast, spa access, 50 min treatment, spa lunch and 3 course evening meal, when you break it down great value for money! That's not taking in to consideration the service and special treats including the complimentary cocktail to our room, full access to the reading room where we got scones, sandwiches, cheese soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Pre arrival information and booking journey was great. Communication across all departments was fantastic spa and restaurant knew what package we were on and what was included just by the name on the booking. The host Chris gave us a very personalable check in and brief of our room along with a birthday card to mark the occasion for the visit. My treatment by Pam was amazing and just what was needed after a busy week working half term in hospitality myself! The room had everything you needed and the bed was soo comfortable. I would highly recommend the fireside suite. Thank you for a memorable first stay, hoping to be back soon.

We spent four nights at the Brimstone in September, staying in a Spa Suite. We had the best time! It was a very raining few days and we loved sitting on our private balcony, enjoying some tea and scones from the reading room, or some wine and cheese in the evening. The reading room was a really nice addition, and meant that we really just ate breakfast and dinner because of all the extra snacks! The room snacks were refilled every day, too. We even had cocktails at our door in the evening! The Spa Suite has a huge bath, which fills from the ceiling, and faces the feature fireplace that separates bathroom from living room. Super comfortable big beds, all the added extras you could need, private parking in the garage below… couldn’t really ask for more. The spa across the road was better than we expected and we spent several hours enjoying that. Breakfast was good, too. Overall would recommend and can’t fault the staff or location.

We stayed here for one night last year for our honeymoon and really enjoyed the room and feel of the place. We were keen to come back for our anniversary and spend more time here as felt we didn’t get to experience it properly last time, so booked it months in advanced to come for 4 nights in Feb 25. However, I was incredibly disappointed to receive a phone call today informing us that they are having works done between 10.30-4pm, meaning there will be no power for the whole day. We tried to see if we could change the dates to work around our anniversary but they had no availability, so we asked them what our options were. We were told that they were not giving any partial refunds as most guests were choosing to leave the hotel during the day anyway, so the assumption is that we would just do the same. We have paid for the use of the hotel and its facilities for the whole duration so how you can refuse to give a partial refund is beyond me. As a result we have had to cancel our trip. ||I am so disappointed with the ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude of the staff. The manager seemed to have no time or care to try and rectify a problem that was their problem, nor did she care about the affect this would have on the guests. This place truly held a really special place in our heart as we went there literally straight from our wedding and we were so looking forward to spending our 1st anniversary there. A lack of basic hospitality now means i'm not sure if we will ever return.

Just got back from a 1 night stay in the duet suite at brimstone for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated. So many extra touches and extras that made the stay stand out over other luxury hotels. Firstly it easy to park and we were welcomed by our host who checked us in straight away and showed us the reading room. We did go at the stated times for snacks and they were well stocked each time and it was plenty. The drink selection was great too. We had eaten out before we arrived so didn’t eat on the on site restaurant as the snacks topped us up nicely, but the breakfast we had delivered to the room in the morning was lovely and I’m so glad we opted for the room service option as it was so peaceful sat on the balcony. We really enjoyed the bathtubs and rainfall showers in our room, my husband is 6ft 4 and hardly ever fits in a bath so it was a nice treat for him! The staff were very friendly and only a phone call away if needed but our stay went smoothly and we didn’t need to contact anyone while there. We visited the spa once but had the option to go as many times as you like during your stay. It’s one of the smaller spas I’ve been to but that made it so much more personal and not overwhelming. It was as very quiet and we were able to visit each area without feeling on top of anyone and it was kept extremely clean. I went into the changing rooms not long after a few others departed and they were already spotlessly clean and felt like no one had even been in there at all! The staff were super friendly and helpful in the spa and I had a fabulous hot stone massage. We have both said what a unique experience it was at the hotel and will definitely be back for another stay!

Stayed here as a surprise treat for my wife’s birthday and everything was perfect!|We upgraded to the Brimstone Hotel and booked a suite which just blew us away. It had a roll top bath and a huge separate bathroom, a huge bed, a large balcony overlooking the woodland and the best part, a log fire in the room!!|It was clear that everything had been very carefully thought about, even the lighting and electric curtains were fantastic!|We had the thermal experience, full body massages and facials in the spa which were excellent, and then we dined at The Stove which had good food at a decent price. We decided to have breakfast in the room and it was first class.|Special mentions to Siobhan and Jess who were patient on my bookings and Andrea and Matthew who really looked after us in the hotel.|It was certainly more expensive than staying in the Langdale which is the other hotel on site, but absolutely worth it, you won’t be disappointed.|We will be back!

I booked the brimstone for my husbands 30th birthday as a treat and I’m so glad I did. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting but what tops this hotel off is the little added touches. The staff are excellent, very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The reading room has soft drinks, lager and wine for you to help yourself- I do only drink gin alcohol wise so just stuck to soft drinks until…about 530 the staff came round with a complimentary cocktail for us both which was totally to my taste! The reading room is stocked with sandwiches at 5pm then cheese at 8pm. We opted to have our breakfast the following morning brought to our room to eat on the balcony which was lovely! We went to the spa before we checked in and so it was very quiet & then before we checked out and again it was quiet- lovely experience compared to other hotels. Would love to stay again!
