"The sprawling Mosaic District development in Fairfax will lose an option for locally sourced oysters, wood-grilled fresh catches, and attention-grabbing burgers this weekend. Brine announced on Facebook this week that it will close Saturday after five years of business. The seafood restaurant, which opened in May 2015, comes from Rappahannock Oyster Co. owner Travis Croxton. Opening chef John Critchley designed a burger that stole attention away from raw bar and earned a fawning review from the Burger Days blog. Critchley went on to open Robert Wiedmaier’s Siren, a short-lived seafood restaurant in Thomas Circle that won a Michelin star in 2018." - Gabe Hiatt

Great seafood and a fun atmosphere. Oysters are very good. Three stars because the general manager is too busy to take on new Buissness and private events. When asked to see how we could bring more buissness to them conducting a private events, she didn't even want to talk or see me by sending a message that the minimum will be $10,000 to talk to her! No hours, no criteria, no terms, no... Is that why this place is more empty than it should be? Remember, Good food, great bartenders but take your bigger buissness elsewhere as she is not interested!

Really good oysters. Definitely go during happy hour for a better deal on the Rappahannock oysters. The oyster chowder was good, but I don't think it's worth $12.50.

Kindly staff. The crostini was great as a starter. Beet kale salad good. The steak with the cauliflower purée wasn’t anything spectacular for the price (purée too smooth) and the steak was really fatty. The fish was ok for my taste but my husband didn’t enjoy the plate. We ordered chocolate bread pudding for dessert and looked more like a brownie.

Brunch outside with a friend (first visit for both of us). Food was delicious but had far too much butter/oil for my taste (or health). Not necessary for food that fresh that's cooked that well. Excellent, friendly service. We shared the roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer, the fantastic flaky rolls, and the smaller, still $$$ market catch of the day (whole red snapper work a few other seafood items as sides, on a bed of arugula). All excellent though as noted. I made sliders out of the Brussels sprouts (which I personally would have cooked for just a touch longer); they were great that way. Suggested that the restaurant put this on the menu as an appetizer. Would have liked more arugula to sop up the liquid. I thought the fish was cooked just right (I like mine rare and love sushi); my friend (who doesn't) would have preferred it cooked a touch more (she also thought the butter/oil amounts were fine). Ladies' room was nice and clean. Thanks for the lovely first visit.

Don't remember ever having a whole roasted rockfish on a menu. Perfectly prepared with grilled shrimp, oysters and clams. Worth the time it takes to prepare. While waiting the lamb and clams is an amazing flavorful combo that has to be tried to believe.

Food was super average. The presentation was amazing but it was rather bland. I had the shrimp po boy with fries. The happy hour on Saturday was only for $6 mimosas and $8 Bloody Marys. For my po boy and 2 mixed drinks I spent around $45.

I love the rustic atmosphere of this place. Everything felt very warm and inviting to include the service my friend and I received while dining here. We ordered two dozen of the raw oysters and they were cleaned well. The mignonette sauce served with it was very tasty, I definitely like having some acidity to my oysters. We also shared a serving of the swordfish fillet, it was my first time having it, it tasted like a woodgrilled steak but still had a somewhat flakey texture of fish. The aoili served alongside complimented the fish well. So delicious!!

Good service, good gluten-free options, no wait. The specialty roast chicken and whole fish may take up to 40 min. so call ahead if you want this. The catfish and trout were perfect. Large portions.
