"The menu at Brine consists of unique interpretations of top-notch meats and fresh seafood ; take, for example, the clam chowder that switches bacon bits for soft slices of pork belly. But whatever you end up ordering, make sure to start with the Power Tower seafood platter—oysters, shrimp, crab, lobster, and littleneck clams—and end with the salted caramel soufflé. The intimate space has just 50 or so seats and an interior that feels more sophisticated than your typical seafood joint—think exposed brick and Carrara marble. Come here for proof that New England's culinary scene has much more than lobster rolls and fried clams." - Todd Plummer

My husband and I made reservations for Brine for a night out. We predominantly chose brine because of its extensive fresh seafood selections… we went all in on seafood and ordered the Large Tower and a small plate of Octopus. The seafood in the Tower was very fresh, the shrimp were very good…. Not over cooked and great flavors (not strong). The octopus plate was wonderful, it came with a Cucumber, Celery, Cayenne Butter Hot Sauce with Dill Ranch. The flavors in the sauce was out of this world… I like spicy food and thought the heat in this dish was perfect, not too much to overwhelm, but a nice amount of heat. We shared a bottle of French rose sparkling wine along with sparkling water. The service was good and the atmosphere was vibrant… it was a little on the loud side due to all the hard surfaces… make sure you sit across from your date so you can enjoy a conversation… overall very good!

Ramen is incredible. Best I’ve ever had. Drinks are fantastic 🍹 The tuna tartar and the crudo lacked flavor but everything else was wonderful. It was so good I’m going back next week.

I was looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed regarding the food. Service was good. When you charge $35-$40 per entree, I expect to leave satisfied. My cod dish was maybe 3 oz of cod with a plate of beans. No veggies. I had to ask for salt/pepper (which I rarely do at good restaurants) because it lacked flavor. My husband’s duck dish was actually quite tasty, but again barely any meat. Like the tiniest portion of duck I’ve ever seen served. We actually both left somewhat hungry and had to have a snack when we got home. We are not people who overeat. So yea, think twice before spending your money and do not go if you are very hungry. I will not be returning.

Oysters were shucked terribly found shells and were a little warm Caviar (OSETRA) bilini tasted like they were cooked in oil not butter. Needed salt. Needed lemon zest. Uni was okay I felt like I needed to lady and the tramp the daikon. Tuna Crudo was the best so far but how can you go wrong with black garlic The beef tar tar was good but the tapioca chip tasted like it was fried yesterday The porter house was good by far the best item thank god the frites were the best thing I’ve tasted on the menu I want to know why the I guess dishwasher was squeezing his pimples in the bathroom seemed like the only person trying to do anything. Service was okay in my opinion didn’t check in enough so I could just be honest how I felt through the entire meal. Brine you need to step your game up I’m not sure if these cooks are capable of what you are trying to accomplish. We got the raspberry cheese cake and the complimented us a carrot cheese cake thank god I feel like they knew that we weren’t crazy about our experience. Cheese cake is with frozen warm berries was just okay and the carrot cake was dry. Please really consider coming here if you actually enjoy food. I wish I could have my money and time back I would’ve went somewhere else. I talked with the line cooks outback to share some knowledge they were receptive but I think they need a new chef. Someone who cares you know. There are people in this world who like food still I’m one of them. I couldn’t be more disappointed

Love, love, love this place! Popped in on Sunday mid afternoon for a bite and a sip. My husband had FABULOUS oysters, and I had the tuna crudo. Both were AMAZING! We then each had the chowder. Man, alive was that delectable! Just the thing to warm your bones on a chilly, misty late spring afternoon. We sat at the bar and were very well looked after by the bartender. He suggested a positively splendid wine to accompany our choices. This was our 2nd time here, and if we lived in town, we'd be regulars! When you visit Newburyport, dine here!!! Cannot wait to visit again! Thank you Brine staff! 100% and an A+!

Made a reservation here for Mother’s Day. When we showed up at our reservation time we were told our table was not available. We waited an additional 20 minutes and it was still not available after this. We decided to go to a different restaurant and they marked us as a no-show Under our Open table reservation and charged us $80. When I contacted OpenTable, they said that Bryne would contact me and refund my money. I’ve reached out two times since and each time They said that they would take care of it. I still have yet to have seen a refund Or a gift card that they said they would send out immediately. Poor Customer service, it’s too bad because the food is pretty good.

August 2022. We love the outdoor dining in Brine. Oysters were great, I also enjoyed the deserts. This time I tried two small plates for dinner and did not like either one. Lettuce wrap crab and octopus with eggplant. May 2022. Brine is back. It is one door away from the old location, with in door and out door sitting options, and the food as good as ever. I had duck with Vietnamese fish sauce and really enjoyed. Great oysters. Excellent steak. May 1, 2021. Sadly, Brine is gone. We drove by and another restaurant will be opening in that location. 2019: Excellent. Creative and tasty. Oysters, soups, steaks, scallops - everyone at the table was happy.
