"This specialty roaster, retail boutique and espresso bar in Burlington’s South End Arts District has been Burlington’s mecca for coffee connoisseurs since it opened in 2014. Both professionals and amateurs head to this inviting space to learn and sip amongst the coffee sacks. It’s also safe to say that Brio has been an impetus for Burlington’s booming coffee scene, providing coffee to many esteemed restaurants and cafés in town including Nomad, Monarch & the Milkweed, Misery Loves Company, and Scout & Company. Under husband-and-wife team Magdelena and Nate Van Dusen, Brio sources beans seasonally from small farms. Stop by their location at the Soda Plant on Fridays at noon for a weekly tastings and consider shopping for a bag of beans or some fancy brewing equipment." - Heather Platt

This cafe has a cool factory industrial vibe! The baristas are so friendly and had great recommendations on what drinks to order. I got a gingery espresso tonic that was so refreshing. I wish that drink was served in every single coffee shop so I could have it year round! Inside there’s also some tables with charging ports for those who want to get some work done. I would totally recommend checking out this place!

Google
Great coffee and syrups! Loved the pastries and they had gf options. We had the gf olive oil cake and the cromuffin - both great! Lovely space and customer service. I also took home some Ethiopian beans and cold brews! Will definitely be back!

The building and atmosphere is beautiful! But the portions are tiny and way too expensive for such a tiny cup. Won't be going back. Also the staff didn't seem to know their own menu.

Spectacular, Phenomenal, Pleasantly Superb are just a few ways to describe Brio Coffeworks. I’ve been in Burlington for two days seeking the best coffee….. FOUND IT!!!!!! Everything about my experience at Brio was above and beyond. From the offerings, to the atmosphere, right down to the excellent conversation with Magda! The recommended offering was the Mexico Chiapas, and it absolutely satisfied the coffee vacancy I longed to fulfill. Magda is one of the owners, and it was pleasant speaking with her about different offerings and processes. She’s quite knowledgeable and very personable! The Ethiopia Ardi was my whole bean offering of choice, and I cannot wait to try it with some of the methods recommended! Magda was also kind enough to recommend other spots to enjoy while in Burlington! Again, I cannot say enough good things about Brio Coffeeworks!!! Go check them out, you will thank yourself!!!! They’re quite possibly the best coffee and roaster in town!!!

Google
Best freaking coffee in the area, at a more than fair price. Came in for a some espresso tasting and left with 2 bags and all their can cold coffee in display. They were also so kind to grind me 100g and left the rest in beans. A+ all around, for coffe nerds and people who want to understand what real espresso are about.

Google
Delicious coffee! I also ordered online and they accidentally sent the wrong variety - not a big deal, happens. They sent the correct order and a lovely note the next day. Thanks!

Google
Was truly the best espresso I’ve ever had in my life, even when contrasted with months spent in Italy in pursuit of the perfect shot. The owners were extremely friendly, and spent at least a half hour humoring me and my interest in roasting/brewing. The drip coffee was also some of the most aromatic, smoothest tasting I’ve had. Very cool atmosphere as well. Really like what they’ve done with the space. Would consider them masters of their craft. Should mention that they are incredibly generous in their pricing. I would’ve gladly paid twice what they charged me for such a pleasant experience.

Google
Best coffee in Burlington for people who like good coffee. (Third wave). Nice assortment of coffee supplies and fresh roasted beans too.

Yelp
We are doing our traditional family coffee taste off here in Burlington. Brio is our first stop. It's tasty. The cardi V latte with cardamom is fantastic and comes with these tiny shreds of sugared orange on the side that are also amazing. The croissant we ordered was huge. But... not flaky. Looks like it will be but it didn't have that satisfying crunch and flakiness we prefer. However what a delicious breakfast at about 11$

Yelp
Stopped by a couple of mornings during my stay in Burlington. The macchiato and summer blend drip coffee is very good. My favorite was the chaff snow I experienced while sitting outside- smells amazing. It's nice to be able to walk in with my dog- appreciate that!

Yelp
Ridiculously small menu that was placed right in front of the cash register so that you wait in line for 10 mins and then have to skim the menu and make a quick decision as the cashier waits for your order. Granted some people take their sweet time with this step, thereby extending the wait time. Move and enlarge the menu. Plaster it everywhere. Customers want to see it

Yelp
Cool little shop & great beans on rotation! I got a cortado & it was delicious! The staff were very nice & there was plenty of space to hangout while I enjoyed my drink.

Yelp
Authentic coffee! If you're looking for a spot that truly values espresso creation, this is the spot! I tried their mocha and my friend got the espresso and it was great! SO fresh and the customer service was amazing. I was inquiring about the oat milk and he gave me a sample of it without even asking! I also tried the strawberry cheesecake macaroon and it was delicious! A must try! I didn't see any outlets but there are plenty of tables inside the coffee shop.

Yelp
Best coffee in town. Such friendly staff. Family own. Partners in life and coffee! The owners are always happy to chat life and coffee. Very lovely. The coffee is great. Roasted in house (available around town in other markets). Seasonal and special lattes and other coffee based drinks. They even have cascara and coffee tonics, lemonades and other amazing things! It's got a night city vibe, unique colors and lighting. Their aesthetic works from the coffee bag designs to the lights to chairs to coffee itself. I really appreciate their tasting notes and details! I always love their Ethiopian, cortados and just plain ol cold brew! Thanks!

Yelp
Delicious coffee. Perfect foam on the cappuccinos. Bright and comfy. A favorite Burlington spot

Yelp
I always look for the best coffee shops whenever I visit a new city. Brio had some of the best coffee I've had in a while. Went with my girlfriend so I was luckily able to try both the drip coffee and a macchiato. Drip coffee comes in 8oz or 12oz, which is not what I'm used to, but sometimes 8oz is all I want, so that's kind of nice that they have that option. It's slightly pricey for that size though, like $2 vs $3 for those sizes. The macchiato was fantastic. Espresso was bright, slightly chocolate, the milk texture was perfect. Both drinks were so good, I decided to buy a bag of beans to bring home with me, which I have been using for my daily pourover. Side note: they have a sign at the register that states they don't accept tips because their drink prices reflect higher wages that they're paying their employees, which I thought was really nice. Despite that, the drip coffee prices were the only ones I thought were high. Everything else was priced similarly to any other cafe in Burlington, or other cities in New England.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee drinks, so smooth and tasty! Great products. Really nice atmosphere. My only complaint is the lack of milk selections, why no skim milk!?

Nicholas P.

Yelp
I love to scope out coffee roasters whenever I travel and Brio is one of the best I've been to in recent years. Went on a cold, snowy Saturday morning back in November and was greeted by a delightful dog, a funky space, and the most memorable Americano I've ever had. Can an Americano be buttery? Mine was buttery and velvet smooth, like my taste buds had been missing out all these years. Ordered a few bags online and it came within TWO days, with everything roasted on day of order. Don't know if I'll ever make it back to Burlington but so nice to know I can have it delivered to my door that quickly. Stupendous service and even better coffee!

Yelp
Good spot. Great coffee and friendly staff. We were in town for two weeks and Brio quickly became our go to spot.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Brio is a super cute, very environmentally earth conscious coffee shop with not one but TWO espresso options! Their coffee was delicious, the service was great, and they had freshly roasted coffee beans to boot. What more could a coffee-nista need? 10/10

Ann P.

Yelp
We love brio. The barista was so friendly and knowledgeable. The selection quite good, even for my coffee aficionado partner in fun. Loved our entire experience and the beans, just wow.

Jana L.

Yelp
First good coffee roaster that doesn't ask what size cappuccino you want....for those who don't know a cappuccino by definition is 6oz and this was perfect. Love the vibe and will definitely be back!

Olivia M.

Yelp
Such a cool spot! Interior is gorgeous, staff were so knowledgeable and helped me pick out the Costa Rica flash chilled can vs. Ethiopia based on the tasting notes. Steered me right for sure! So delicious, love the location and always so excited to find amazing female owned businesses.

Marissa S.

Yelp
This is gooooooooooood coffee. Like very good coffee. The cold brew was amazing and the iced latte was phenomenal. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into perfecting what they brew here and we greatly appreciated that!

Zoe M.

Yelp
I have been meaning to check out this coffee shop for a while. I finally got there today and I have to say it is one of my favorites. I have gone to nearly every coffee shop in the Burlington area, and this was one of my best experiences. The person working was very friendly and was willing to recommend some different drinks. I had a phenomenal cappuccino and was even given a sample of another drink item. Overall a great experience and I will be coming back.

Yelp
These folks are great. I went in at the last moment to see if they could supply coffee for an event I was hosting. They very graciously took care of me, delivering coffee every two hours to keep it super fresh. And the coffee is some of the best I have had. I am picky about my coffee, and how it is brewed. They have it down pat. A really incredible cup every time... On top of that, they and their staff are cheerful, respectful and a pleasure to be around. It is my go to place to "meet for a cup of coffee."

Cari C.

Yelp
Hands down the best roaster in VT. Brio is NOT a coffee shop, but a roaster run by a husband/wife team that clearly LOVE coffee and take excellent care of their customers. We look forward to working with them for years to come.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee. Nate and Magda are unassuming but make no mistake: they are a power couple in the world of the bean. Despite their tender years, they've got deep and wide experience in the entire realm of coffee culture: sourcing, roasting, preparing. I got a bag of their stuff on Friday (@ Scout and Company) where I got to meet them. They've got great plans to continue developing coffee culture in greater BTV. This includes being a local source for unroasted beans--a boon to us home-roasting hobbyists. They've already amassed an impressive portfolio of retail and restaurant clients, and I hope that only continues to grow. Really glad y'all are here.

Berl Jonathan M.

Yelp
Nate and Magda are awesome and super nice. They say hello to me every time I see them. I go there often to get great beans I cannot get in the store. (Also convenient that Brio is sold at City Market). I also go because I know I'll be greeted with a nice hello and a smile. I can talk coffee at any level of knowledge with these guys, and usually learn something from chatting with anyone there. They always point me in the direction of the best beans they have based on what I tell them I'm looking for. I get zero pretentious vibe in here. Hands down one of the best tasting roasters in the Burlington area. Now go grab some beans!

Molly F.

Yelp
The 2 stars are more of a reflection of "Meh. I've experienced better" than it is a reflection of getting only a 40% satisfaction rating. To me, this is just another coffee shop in a long line of coffee shops in Burlington. This one comes off as a little on the pretentious side but I just may not understand the South End hipster/pseudo-hipster culture. I was not disappointed by my visit but nothing about my visit sent me to the top of the mountain to spread the word.

Robert B.

Yelp
Great coffee and customer service! We ordered a couple of bags from Brio after loving a sample we received through a coffee subscription service. The order arrived quickly and the coffee was freshly roasted, couldn't of been roasted any sooner. Not only that but the owner included a hand written thank you note and some free flair as well. Top notch service and delicious coffee.

Tim C.

Yelp
These guys love coffee, and it shows. After a long conversation with them, they pointed me to a bag of their Ruwandan Kabirizi espresso, and I've been addicted to the stuff since. Excellent customer service, excellent roasting of excellent beans, and people who care about the whole process and want to spread the love. Can't possibly ask for more!

Mari S.

Yelp
I usually buy the beans at City Market, as I don't usually get a chance to go to the roaster. The beans are always really fresh and Brio has become my coffee of choice like every morning.
