Bristol Harbour Hotel | Best places to stay in Bristol

"Put your money where your mouth is with a stay at what was once one of Bristol’s loftiest counting houses. Converted from a Grade II-listed bank, the city-centre Harbour Hotel has kept the soaring ceilings and feel of comfortable luxury of its previous incarnation in its recent conversion. Double rooms range in size but even the tiniest feel very plush, with Egyptian cotton sheets and White Company toiletries. The largest have standalone baths – worth the extra splurge. The restaurant is a highlight, serving up a modern seafood menu in a cavernous dining room. The spa, downstairs in the old vaults, is small but boasts lovely treatment rooms where you can chill out with a massage or a facial after a busy day’s exploring. " - Sian Lewis

Although we had to wheel our cases across bumpy paving because the taxi couldn't stop right outside the door of the hotel, once inside the welcome was warm and friendly. The double room we had was very well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. In the room, besides a couple of bottles of water, there was a decanter of gin, gratis - this was a first for me! Breakfast was really good with an extensive menu to suit all tastes and staff were friendly, helpful and highly competent. We didn't use the Spa at the hotel but a family member who has stayed before assures us that it is well worth a visit!

We booked this hotel as our son was getting married at the register office next door . We arrived the day befire. Check in was good, staff polite and professional. I had trouble turning off the water after I'd taken a bath and a kind gentleman on staff helped me. The day after, breakfast was good, lots of choice for continental. We had to get ready for the wedding and we spoke to the same helpful gentleman staffer who said that our room would be serviced and anything we needed would be replenished. We got back to our room early evening and the room was the same as we'd left it, so we raised it with reception who did apologise and said housekeeping had left but we would have more water, tea, etc in the room. When we got back, there was two bottles of water, the bed made, but my water glass not changed and there was no caffeinated coffee but lots of packets of biscuits. We were given an upgrade to a hot breakfast however the lady greeter who had been on duty the day before had trouble locating us on the list, asking us several times for our surname and room number. On check out we were asked if everything was OK, and reluctantly we had to say no. Overall, nice spacious room, comfy bed and as we were at the back, it was quiet. But would not stay again due to basic errors. And we're still awaiting the £50 pre authorisation they took. Communication not terribly great, I rang to speak to someone about this on Monday and still waiting for a call back. Poor communication and very poor housekeeping.

When booking it says hotel comes with pool and spa etc. when checking in your asked if you want to use it and what time. when you arrive to use the spa your asked if you would like a locker. So you can understand my shock while leaving the spa after using it I was told to pay £10. No where while booking does it say you have to pay extra, only that the room and hotel include these amenities. Which if you have to pay extra after booking I feel as if I was miss sold. Espially as I had a nicer room booked at hotel du vin around the corner. The rest of the hotel needs some TLC of alreast a fresh coat of paint. And I had not once but twice get a new room key as it wouldn’t work. First time after using the spa and being in robe and slippers, second time late at night and having to wait for some one to come to reception.

Spending 2 nights in Bristol and thought this would be a real treat. £326 a night. Spa is lovely but very small. Room is small but with a nice bathroom. HOWEVER Noise throughout the night, loud banging firedoors outside the bedroom, which would slam any time used. No soap or conditioner, when told on the first night nothing was done. Told them in the morning, nothing done and even by the third day nothing replaced. Staff were lovely and friendly but did nothing about it and on checkout just a polite "We are very sorry". On the final morning at 10:55 housekeeping banging on the door asking us to move out. (check out is at 11am and completely uncalled for). There was mess and mould around the tops of the soap/shampoo dispensers. If i had been paying around £100 a night it may have been overlooked, but at £326 per night you just feel robbed.

We stayed here for one night in a standard room. The hotel used to be a bank, so the layout is quite unique, with rooms dotted around the building. Our room was compact but had a beautifully designed bathroom. In hindsight, I wish we’d opted for the next category up for a bit more space.||The spa is small but inviting, with a well-sized hydro pool, steam room, and sauna—perfect for a short unwind. What really sets this hotel apart is its location. It’s in a vibrant area with a distinctly London-like feel, full of energy both day and night. Everything you need is within walking distance, which likely contributes to the higher price point.

Divine hotel. Being greeted by the lovely Annabelle made us feel right at home. Perfect after a long coach journey. The beautifully decorated restaurant was spotless. Location is perfect + Bristol is very walkable. Room: Other reviews state rooms were small, I would advise going for the superior or deluxe options, as the price difference is modest and will be absolutely worth it. We stayed in the deluxe suite which it was generous for two people. Our room was facing the street and I didn't hear any noise. Spa: I had a nice chat with Nellie who was very accommodating at the spa reception. Steam, sauna, hydrotherapy pool and a spacious jacuzzi with 4 different settings - exactly what you need after a long day exploring the lively, eventful Bristol. I like how the spa doesn't get crowded because everyone books their slot. And finally... Lucy ensured a smooth checkout and kept our bags safe while we explored on our last day. Book directly - call the hotel. Kindness begets kindness.

We had the most amazing night stay at this hotel, the entire experience from check-in to check-out was amazing. Jean checked us in and was working throughout the duration of our stay - nothing was too much and it felt as is every interaction was personal - it was a really nice touch. ||We stayed in room 115 which was a junior suit I believe, it was facing the main road however we couldn’t hear the road noise at all. The room was spacious, bright and clean. There were multiple power points and all of the expected amenities were present, as it was a birthday they made it extra special by giving us a complementary room upgrade and macarons in the room. ||The pool was out of order during our stay, we were informed prior to arrival but they let us know we would use the rest of the spa facilities. The spa itself was beautiful; its small, intimate and under ground, you can see all of the old bank vault doors which add a nice touch. ||In all honestly I would stay here again

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL||Stayed here for one night on 05/09/25 and can honestly say it’s in the top three of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in worldwide based on cleanliness and facilities. Save your money and look around for other options. Pictures to back my review too. Not a chance this should be a four star hotel||I’ll start with arriving and being shown to our room, you have to walk through the restaurant which had a very sticky and dirty floor passing a door which said crew only which stayed open the whole time with a beer barrel, there were little bits of rubbish on the floor at that door the whole time too, you’re the shown to the stairs that take you to your room, every flight of the carpeted stairs are heavily stained in numerous places.||Now to the room, hit with a musky damp smell which I tracked to the bathroom where it was the most unpleasant, the extractor fan wasn’t working so definitely won’t be helping, I then noticed the battered and dented bin, then too a look in the shower and there are paint chips on the shower and heavily stained shower seals and rails with one part of the shower hanging off the wall. The towel rail had a layer of dust on every rail which was then moving onto the towels. The tv bracket was loose and the back of the tv again thick with dust. The wall around the bed were chipped and discoloured or dirty.||The spa, what a joke more looked more like a swingers club. Filthy dirty floor to ceiling? Hairs floating in the pool and the steam room straight away makes you feel like you’re breathing in dirt, spent five minutes in the spa and had to leave to wash the grime off me, went to use the shower and the door doesn’t close because the seal is broken, I then looked down to see black stuff coming from under the shower floor rail with a load of gunge on the floor too. Was at this point I made my complaint, the young lady was very sympathetic and noted my concerns and said I needed to speak to the manger in the morning. Me and my partner “slept” on top of the bed that night fully clothed using the dressing gowns for a blanket.||In the morning I thought having breakfast would be good before seeing the manger,|Wrong!!!, under cooked bacon, hard sausage, cold beans and over cooked scrambled eggs so didnt eat anything and went straight to reception.||I met the manger and said it would probably be better that we went somewhere away from the guests standing around the reception to go though my complaint.||She was actually very understanding and said she will make sure those issues would be addressed but no refund was offered, she did reduce the costs but it wasn’t worth a penny, we slept on the bed. We dealt with a dirty room, paid for a spa experience and didn’t use that because of the state of the facility, disgusting breakfast and the overall state of the hotel is more hostel than hotel||DO NOT STAY HERE

Yelp
This is some hotel! It's 2 former banks in a prominent spot on Corn Street, smack in the centre of Bristol. It's quite new and you can tell - the service is exceptional, the kind of exceptional you only get from somewhere that's still trying their hardest to impress, with none of the cynicism apparent in many other longer established luxury hotels. The architecture is awesome - externally it's stunning, a period building that oozes style. Inside has been decorated beautifully. It's a bit of a warren inside, I got lost on the way back from the gym, and ended up on my floor, but the opposite side. But it adds to the character. The rooms are gorgeous, big comfy beds, quirky chairs and classic touches. My bathroom was clean and modern, and very roomy. The aforementioned gym is well stocked with very modern equipment. A bit warm with no aircon that I could feel, but it's in one of the old bank vaults which weren't designed to be cool I guess! The spa looked amazing too - I didn't use it but was seriously tempted. The jacuzzi looked like bliss and the people in it at the time had beaming smiles, so I assume they were having a good time. Yet to try the cocktail bar or restaurant - if I do I'll update the review! Overall impressions are great, I'll absolutely be coming back here when I'm next down on business (or pleasure...)

Yelp
Comfortable, central, large rooms good service. Downside: walking bags through busy street market on arrival, awkward lift access, no parking so distant multistory is only option. Restaurant is good-- better than cafeteria decor suggests.
