Bristol Harbour Hotel | Best places to stay in Bristol

"Put your money where your mouth is with a stay at what was once one of Bristol’s loftiest counting houses. Converted from a Grade II-listed bank, the city-centre Harbour Hotel has kept the soaring ceilings and feel of comfortable luxury of its previous incarnation in its recent conversion. Double rooms range in size but even the tiniest feel very plush, with Egyptian cotton sheets and White Company toiletries. The largest have standalone baths – worth the extra splurge. The restaurant is a highlight, serving up a modern seafood menu in a cavernous dining room. The spa, downstairs in the old vaults, is small but boasts lovely treatment rooms where you can chill out with a massage or a facial after a busy day’s exploring. " - Sian Lewis

Amazing hotel in a fantastic location in the centre of Bristol. We had a large twin room, luxurious bed linen and very comfortable beds. We had complimentary gin, coffee pods, dressing gowns and lovely toiletries. The staff were all delightful. The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful in the beautiful restaurant. We had an hour in the spa, which was in the vault of the old bank, very unique and luxurious. Throughly recommend

Divine hotel. Being greeted by the lovely Annabelle made us feel right at home. Perfect after a long coach journey. The beautifully decorated restaurant was spotless. Location is perfect + Bristol is very walkable. Room: Other reviews state rooms were small, I would advise going for the superior or deluxe options, as the price difference is modest and will be absolutely worth it. We stayed in the deluxe suite which it was generous for two people. Our room was facing the street and I didn't hear any noise. Spa: I had a nice chat with Nellie who was very accommodating at the spa reception. Steam, sauna, hydrotherapy pool and a spacious jacuzzi with 4 different settings - exactly what you need after a long day exploring the lively, eventful Bristol. I like how the spa doesn't get crowded because everyone books their slot. And finally... Lucy ensured a smooth checkout and kept our bags safe while we explored on our last day. Book directly - call the hotel. Kindness begets kindness.

Although we had to wheel our cases across bumpy paving because the taxi couldn't stop right outside the door of the hotel, once inside the welcome was warm and friendly. The double room we had was very well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. In the room, besides a couple of bottles of water, there was a decanter of gin, gratis - this was a first for me! Breakfast was really good with an extensive menu to suit all tastes and staff were friendly, helpful and highly competent. We didn't use the Spa at the hotel but a family member who has stayed before assures us that it is well worth a visit!

We booked this hotel as our son was getting married at the register office next door . We arrived the day befire. Check in was good, staff polite and professional. I had trouble turning off the water after I'd taken a bath and a kind gentleman on staff helped me. The day after, breakfast was good, lots of choice for continental. We had to get ready for the wedding and we spoke to the same helpful gentleman staffer who said that our room would be serviced and anything we needed would be replenished. We got back to our room early evening and the room was the same as we'd left it, so we raised it with reception who did apologise and said housekeeping had left but we would have more water, tea, etc in the room. When we got back, there was two bottles of water, the bed made, but my water glass not changed and there was no caffeinated coffee but lots of packets of biscuits. We were given an upgrade to a hot breakfast however the lady greeter who had been on duty the day before had trouble locating us on the list, asking us several times for our surname and room number. On check out we were asked if everything was OK, and reluctantly we had to say no. Overall, nice spacious room, comfy bed and as we were at the back, it was quiet. But would not stay again due to basic errors. And we're still awaiting the £50 pre authorisation they took. Communication not terribly great, I rang to speak to someone about this on Monday and still waiting for a call back. Poor communication and very poor housekeeping.

The hotel is in a good location, checking in was easy. We were upgraded to a Deluxe room, good sized room, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. However, the shower surround was dirty - needed a good scrub. We booked the hotel through a third party - if you do this, make sure you check the small print as you have to pay £10 per person every time you use the spa. Generally this hotel is not up to the usual Harbour Hotel luxurious standard, it looks a bit tired.

Spending 2 nights in Bristol and thought this would be a real treat. £326 a night. Spa is lovely but very small. Room is small but with a nice bathroom. HOWEVER Noise throughout the night, loud banging firedoors outside the bedroom, which would slam any time used. No soap or conditioner, when told on the first night nothing was done. Told them in the morning, nothing done and even by the third day nothing replaced. Staff were lovely and friendly but did nothing about it and on checkout just a polite "We are very sorry". On the final morning at 10:55 housekeeping banging on the door asking us to move out. (check out is at 11am and completely uncalled for). There was mess and mould around the tops of the soap/shampoo dispensers. If i had been paying around £100 a night it may have been overlooked, but at £326 per night you just feel robbed.

When booking it says hotel comes with pool and spa etc. when checking in your asked if you want to use it and what time. when you arrive to use the spa your asked if you would like a locker. So you can understand my shock while leaving the spa after using it I was told to pay £10. No where while booking does it say you have to pay extra, only that the room and hotel include these amenities. Which if you have to pay extra after booking I feel as if I was miss sold. Espially as I had a nicer room booked at hotel du vin around the corner. The rest of the hotel needs some TLC of alreast a fresh coat of paint. And I had not once but twice get a new room key as it wouldn’t work. First time after using the spa and being in robe and slippers, second time late at night and having to wait for some one to come to reception.

My family and I were walk-ins at the restaurant for lunch, and everything was excellent: ambiance, service, food quality. Particular mention to Mey, whose service was outstanding. She was the best example in years of service delivery from the heart as well as the mind, providing unprompted and personalised service to our table. Most hospitality service is mediocre and script-driven. Not so at the Harbour restaurant.

Yelp
This is some hotel! It's 2 former banks in a prominent spot on Corn Street, smack in the centre of Bristol. It's quite new and you can tell - the service is exceptional, the kind of exceptional you only get from somewhere that's still trying their hardest to impress, with none of the cynicism apparent in many other longer established luxury hotels. The architecture is awesome - externally it's stunning, a period building that oozes style. Inside has been decorated beautifully. It's a bit of a warren inside, I got lost on the way back from the gym, and ended up on my floor, but the opposite side. But it adds to the character. The rooms are gorgeous, big comfy beds, quirky chairs and classic touches. My bathroom was clean and modern, and very roomy. The aforementioned gym is well stocked with very modern equipment. A bit warm with no aircon that I could feel, but it's in one of the old bank vaults which weren't designed to be cool I guess! The spa looked amazing too - I didn't use it but was seriously tempted. The jacuzzi looked like bliss and the people in it at the time had beaming smiles, so I assume they were having a good time. Yet to try the cocktail bar or restaurant - if I do I'll update the review! Overall impressions are great, I'll absolutely be coming back here when I'm next down on business (or pleasure...)

Yelp
Comfortable, central, large rooms good service. Downside: walking bags through busy street market on arrival, awkward lift access, no parking so distant multistory is only option. Restaurant is good-- better than cafeteria decor suggests.
