The best wine store for getting all the value out of every dollar spent. Super knowledgeable owner and so many choices!! This place is my go-to!!

The owners are often found up front at night, talking and having wine. It exudes that feeling of an inviting neighborhood staple. Wine is the main attraction, but there's also select bourbon (like Bulleit) and vodka to be had. Their signature feature, to me, is a mason jar by the register filled with a rotating cast of classic gummies. They also run Barnyard, a fresh deli right next door. I kind of miss their old location on 9 / C because it was right downstairs, but their new location on B definitely drives more foot traffic and it's nice to have Brix/Barnyard attached to each other. If anything the move signifies thier success, which I'm grateful for. These two neighborhood shops are definitely worth supporting.

Friendly and helpful staff in a chic and cozy store. Not a huge range of wine but the staff know their stuff and can find something you like. They have a boat load of Rosé

They have everything in there the owners are very courteous and really know their wine and spirits try the Yellow Tail sweet red roo wine it's the best I've ever tasted

Cute shop and I try very hard to support local business, but I was very disappointed that the person working was not wearing the required face covering even with customers in the store and while making sale transactions.

You would think that local businesses would be struggling to get customers and make sure they give everyone a good user experience in order to make up for any losses during a pandemic right? Nope, not this place. I was interested in buying a ton of wine from here because I support local businesses and understand what the economic climate is causing undue hardships to everyone. However, when we walked in, we weren't greeted. We were treated like we were bothering them on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The person working seemed particular annoyed we walked in and now he has to put on his mask while we were in there. I wasn't dressed nicely or anything, I was on my way to a picnic at central park, so there could be some bias on how much I was willing to spend. After looking through the entire store for 5 minutes, we were never asked if we need help or anything. I mean, you would assume every person who walks in would need help, why? Because there's absolutely no organization or labeling, so trying to find particular wines would take all day. I finally asked if they have any Cab Sav, and I was replied with "of course we do. Over here. We have some $20 bottles over here, and some $15 bottles down there." Well, that definitely answers my first assumption about why we weren't being helped. We're not big spenders! You want me to buy these cheap bottles, then I will! Next I asked about Riesling, and then he showed me that. My friend and I both noticed how this guy was completely miserable and unhelpful. Seriously, you don't want to sell anything or make money at all? So be it. This review will make sure of that. I ended up buying 5 bottles of wine. It's also the last time I buy any wine from this place.

Safest place to buy booze in NYC. Service is friendly & attentive, reasonable prices. Top notch in general. Highly recommend.

Great Little Wine & Liquor Shop in the East Village! They are always spot on with recommendations and I have never been disappointed. Go check them out, it's worth it!

My husband and I stopped here to pick up a bottle of wine for a picnic. We told the woman what we had in the basket and she recommended a wonderful red: 2017 Santenay. This shop boasts a large selection and knowledgable staff.

The staff is friendly and if I don't have the time to go elsewhere, it suffices Overpriced though- so overpriced in fact, I had to comment that the prices "seemed high", to which the person behind the counter admitted- not in so many words- that it was to keep the riff-raff out.

Lovely store with a diverse range of wines and liquors. Pricing is available in all ranges, making it easy to grab a good lower prices bottle of prosecco for a spritzer and a higher prices bottle of red for a Sunday dinner at home. I appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff, who have been incredibly welcoming with my questions.

This unassuming shop has a small but thoughtful selection. The shopkeeper's demeanor is also unassuming, but he can casually and digestibly describe any bottle in the store. The "under $20" section is strong, and there's plenty of new wave natural/bio stuff alongside Barolo to keep winos of all shapes and sizes happy.

Love this place. I moved into EV a little over a month ago and needed a go-to wine shop nearby. I found Brix on Yelp and haven't turned back since. One of the reviews below said "unpretentious" and that's exactly how I would describe Brix. Super chill vibes and very low key. The owner and staff are always really friendly and helpful. They don't flinch when I ask them to help me find their cheapest Pinot Grigio (literally twice a week). Sometimes they even let me sample the good wines. The store itself is quaint and cozy with an extensive selection. This is for sure one of my favorite wine shops in the city.

Sweet dog and nice selection. But why, on a Saturday night, was I met with disinterest and sarcasm from the man behind the counter? If my patronage of your store is a burden to you, I would have preferred you just ask me to leave.

This place is great. Super friendly and helpful staff! Dog friendly, people friendly, always have treats on counter for guest. Option of wines and other goodies are endless

Awesome unpretentious little neighborhood wine shop!!! Came in and was offered multiple different wines to taste. Many solid options in the ~ $12-15 dollar range. Great place to find some new fun wines to try. Keep in mind they primarily hold normal 750ml bottles and don't really have any 1.5L sized options, but that's to be expected in a small neighborhood wine shop. Will definitely return!

Brix is the BEST! Beatrice never ever fails to make the perfect recommendation for every occasion - be it a regular night or a special occasion. She knows her stuff and her selection is super reasonably priced

Yelp is obviously built on opinions. I respect that; it's why I joined. We have to know and accept that, occasionally, the reviews of Yelpers will paint an inaccurate picture of a business. Scrolling through some recent reviews, I have to say that's precisely the case with Brix. I've been to this wine and spirits shop hundreds of times over the years, and it's consistently great. The staff is helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The selection is terrific, and - with the mostly under-$15 Brix Picks section right at the front - the value is outstanding. This nonsense about Beatriz, who's given me countless spot-on suggestions, being rude and/or apathetic is just that: nonsense. She would never brush off a patron. It's a small store that's built on relationships with customers. If you only have 3 minutes to find a bottle of wine, maybe you should go to the grocery store where they have 4 terrible bottles next to the mustards in aisle 3. Please don't blame that on the store, and degrade it with a 1-star review. There's also no chance that Brix intentionally overcharges patrons. It's just patently false. Again, I'm a loyal customer and I've never had an issue. I doubt the familiar faces I see there every few weeks would be familiar if this happened to them, either. Bottom line: Brix is a great East Village wine shop. Does it have everything? Of course not. But it's not what some people have unfortunately claimed it to be here.

I had perhaps one of the most off-putting customer service experiences of my life here last week. My sister and I were waiting to be seated for dinner at Esperanto, right next door to Brix, and my sister decided to duck into Brix to pick up a bottle of wine for later while I held our place. Fast forward 10-15 minutes later, she returns empty handed. I was seriously hankering for a glass of wine, and demanded an explanation. Her response - the woman working there was so rude and unhelpful that she refused to stick around any longer to buy something. I, of course, assumed she was being ridiculous, and walked off to Brix to see for myself. I walked in past 2 couple who were sampling wine/checking out at the counter and stood in front of the refridgerator. The first thing I noticed was that maybe 1 or 2 bottles had prices on them, but nothing else was labelled. Hmmm.... After a few minutes, the salesperson (owner?) emerged from the back and I tried to catch her attention. She started to walk past me, but noticed my stare and asked, "Do you need any help?" I said "Yes, I do...", waiting for her to perhaps stop or ask what I was looking for. Instead, she walked right on past me, up to the counter, and proceeded to spend at least 10 minutes chatting away with the couples there. I stood there the whole time staring in her direction, clearly waiting for the assistance she just offered, but she didn't even glance in my direction again. She seemed to be "ringing up" one of their purchases while gabbing away, but I don't even think she got to taking money from them. Normally I would just help myself in this situation, but there were no prices on any of the bottles! Finally I was so irritated, I walked out without saying a word. Needless to say, I wont be returning to this store.

Love Brix! But I do wish the staff would wear their masks and possibly initiate some simple rules for how many customers could be inside at a time. Really want to keep visiting my favorite wine shop, but feeling unsafe by the staff's lack of concern for safety during the pandemic.

This is a very cute, well-stocked wine store, but when it comes to retail, there are some unforgivable mistakes that can ruin a customer's perception. Brix's unforgivable flaw is the fact they over-charged my credit card and would not fix it. Granted, there is a possibility--although very slim, miniscule, actually--that this was my mistake. But even so, isnt the customer always right? I bought two bottles of champagne here. Each had a label saying it was $10. When I purchased the bottles, I was told I did not need to sign the receipt because the total was under a certain amount. I then told them I did not need a receipt because I would remember buying two $10 bottles of champagne. A few days later, i see they charged my credit card $28. I remembered that they keep track of every bottle of wine that someone buys, so I thought it would be an easy fix, they know which bottles I bought and should fix it. However, when I called, they were adamant that one of the bottles I purchased was $16 and not $10, and they declined to fix the charge. Maybe the six on the label looked like a zero, but they should have listened to the customer. I, in fact, live one block away and would have been a returning customer--as I go through several bottles of wine a week--but they have lost my future business. The fact that they would not fix this error has completely turned me off from coming here. Yes, the bottles I bought were good, but I will not come back on principle. Moral? ALWAYS get a receipt.

Brix is an amazing wine shop Beatrix, owner/operator/ceo and wine diva, makes the place feel like home. Each wine "Even the brix pix" ($15 and under) are hand selected by "B" to represent not only good values but also to show that region or that grape as it was meant to be. There are always instore tastings or something interesting going on at this excellent neighborhood wine shop. I wish it was closer to my apartment!! If you need some cheese to go with that wine, jump around the corner to barnyard cheese shop for some formage and/or some salty meats! All on Ave C and 9th St?? Who woulda thunk it?

I like this wine store a lot. Since I moved to the block, I have been in quite a few times, and I came by for one of the tastings. The owner is a really sweet woman, and she did not try to up-sell me or make fun of me because I was on a budget that day, and walked out with two relatively cheap bottles! Anyways, there really isn't too much to write here, because it is sort of "in and out" if you know what I mean. It's not like I spend much time in the store. They have a huge, awesome selection of wine, and a pretty good selection of beer and liquor, and I even noticed some weird "bitters" for sale by the cash register. I think you use these to mix in your liquor drinks. Pros: -Great owner. Beatrice (spelling?) is very helpful, and sweet. -Big selection. I could not decide what I wanted, and ended up just staring at the long aisle of reds for 5 minutes. -Cool ambiance. They were actually having a little get together of friends and staff outside. Everybody was drinking wine and there was a little barbecue. Maybe I will join some day before it gets cold! Cons: -A homeless man has been sitting in front of the shop, blocking the entrance, two out of the ten or so times I have been there. This same man harrasses and yells at me often (I live on the block, and he never leaves). I would suggest the shop not let him sit there.

Unbelievable shop- the owner is tremendously knowledgeable and genuinely gracious. Six years ago we were in the city on business, we happened into Brix while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. There was an impromptu tasting going on and we've been loyal customers since. We live a couple of hours away and have been coming at least twice a year and ordering wines since then. We even had Beatrix select and ship all the wine for our son's wedding last year. She has the best selection of Roses outside of France!

I can always find something great at Brix. The owners are really nice people and always have a perfect suggestion for a wine to pair with what ever I'm making for dinner. The employees are helpful and friendly and my two dogs love this store too...there are treats behind the register! I live around the corner and this is the kind of business that we need. It is owned by locals and run by locals who care about the neighborhood. The Friday tastings are fun and I've discovered some great finds there. A bonus for keeping previous purchases in the system, now I don't have to take a picture of the label when I find something I really like.

Brix is the Wine shop in Alphabet City. Beatriz knows her stuff and has something for every budget. Also they have tastings most Fridays with 10% off featured wines. And neighborhood delivery.

You cannot beat the service and selection in this place. The people who work here will always guide you in the right direction! Prices are very good too, especially for what you're getting. This place is a gift!

The worst part about moving, is that I will no longer live above the best wine shop in NYC. Friendly & helpful staff, amazing selection of wine (for every budget!) and an adorable french bulldog mascot -- this place is an absolute gem in the east village and worth the trek to avenue c!

I live upstairs from Brix so I am here at least 3-4 times a week - the staff is crazy friendly & helpful, the selection is great, and sometimes there are cute french bulldogs hanging out :). As a frequent wine shop visitor, Brix is definitely my favorite in NYC.

Brix has a huge selection of Rose wines, and they do a good job of keeping at least one of each chilling in the fridge. They also carry a nice array of tasty, lesser-known varietals, often at a bargain price (especially for NYC). I was very impressed to see Lugana, Arneis, and Aglianico options. Everyone there has been very friendly and helpful, with occasional free taste offerings! And I have yet to get one bad bottle from them (which has been occurring frequently at other stores lately).

My favorite wine store in the East Village! The owner, Beatriz is such a wonderful character. Their homemade Sangria is a must have, the best I've ever bought in a store. Great selection and knowledge, with a real community feel. Their best cheap wines? Yellow & Blue Rose, Reggiano Sparkling red, White Sangria. Great selection of wines and completely unpretentious and friendly. I felt completely comfortable asking for a suggestion for a very inexpensive red wine to go with my grilled cheese sandwich I bought from Barnyard cheese shop around the corner (same owners, I think). The woman working gave me a great selection for a $10 red. She also mentioned that they deliver, which could come in handy sometime. A fun, neighborhood-y place.

I guess I'm a regular as I try to make many wine tastings, if only to expand my palate. They sometimes have generous samples of nearby Barnyard's cheese and meats to go with the wines, and it's a nice touch. I love the variety of wines by the half-bottle, as well as proseccos. Still, I'm counting down to sangria season, about 7 weeks away.

This place deserves 5 stars for its excellently priced wines, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Plus the owner is a peach and if you bring cheese from the barnyard over she will help pair it with cheese.

In the mood for a nice wine, I stopped into Brix on my walk home from work the other day. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see many offerings under $25! So refreshing for a small place to have such a wide variety of affordable and delicious choices. Friendly service and good atmosphere, can I get a what-what?!

Went in to buy a Rose- stood there for several minutes while the guy unpacked some stuff, then some other stuff, then wordlessly went to the register. Asked for a Rose that I thought had been ordered- He mumbled something , did not offer to find a substitute- so not interested in helping- I left. I was very excited when they opened because I live around the corner, but there are plenty of wine stores that want my business. Too bad-

I was glad to walk in and discover a section of wines that were casually priced -- bought a $10 Malbec and was very happy. This place is cute and not pretentious. Will be returning frequently.

They erroneously sent a check to my house, not for me. I took time out of my day to let them know they had made an error. They did not even have the decency to email me in return to tell me to tear up the check, send it back, etc.

I love this place. Beatriz has a bottle for every price range AND amazing homemade sangria! Her staff (esp Mara) is super friendly and knowledgeable. A great neighborhood spot!
