A Gem, this place makes you feel like they really want you to come to try their best bourbon. For those who are truly about Whiskey this is a must. Recommend Rye fidelity’s line and the Big Winston. The Rum selection is as good! Will come back again whenever around NC.

I visited Broad Branch for drinks and to catch up with a friend and I enjoyed the entire experience. The space was welcoming with plenty of room to hang out, lounge and relax and a full bar you can hang out at. They also have a wonderful tasting room where we had the opportunity to enjoy a whiskey tasting led by one of their amazing staff members. The staff member was very knowledgeable about the history of the space and the whiskey they distill and was very nice and generous with his time. The selection of spirits were impressive and I will definitely return for another drink and to explore more of their whiskey cocktails. Add it to the favorites list!

Walking around Winston-Salem with a few families, the parents wanted to try a few drinks, so we checked BBD out. They have 2 parts, one had a bar and a little market with local foods. This was actually a great spot for us. All the kids sat at a table where we ordered them some food. They really like the nachos. The parents sat at the bar. We then noticed that they had a tasting area in the adjacent room. This little bar you could do a tasting of their whisky, moonshine, rums, and ryes. They even had their own bitters, so a few of us did a few tastings. The bartender was very knowledgeable, actually both bars the staff were great! They also have this cool cigarette machine they've made into an art distributor. You put $5 in and pick your knob of what kind of art you want, and you get a surprise. We got a couple of cool wire scorpions. Great place! We loved it!

Google
Came here for a quick 🥃🍹🍸 drink at their fun bar with tons of comfortable seating. I was surprised to find knowledgeable staff, a free bourbon, rum, and whiskey tasting (along with some moonshine) and learned a lot along the way. They also have fun merchandise, indoor and outdoor seating, ♿ handicap accessible 🅿️ parking, seating, and 🚻 restrooms.

Google
This was our first visit on a Saturday. I highly recommend this place! They do not do tours or or tastings on weekends. The bar tender let us taste their products we were interested in. I tried their hit toddy and my husband had an old fashioned and we both really enjoyed our drinks. The staff were very helpful and friendly offering their opinions and advice on their menu. If you are in Winston Salem you should visit!

Google
We popped in here just to check it out cause we've never been in here before, but we've been to fiddlin fish a million times. So, with that being said, this place is actually amazing, the staff member that was running us through the spirits was extremely knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. He gave us the complete run down on everything involved in the creation of their spirits and then allowed us to try what we wanted, instead of making us taste what they want. I am not a whiskey drinker at all, but I ended up buying a bottle of their wood exploration (absolutely amazing!!!)! The atmosphere is super relaxed and they are extremely welcoming. We look forward to going back and trying their mixed drinks.

Google
Absolutely brilliant experience -- staff here was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and engaged. The bottle tasting was a great experience, they have fun merch to get as gifts or for yourself - and it's in the heart of an amazing part of Winston-Salem! My partner and I will definitely be back for the full tour with some friends!

Google
Great place! You can see them making the whiskey, which is very cool. They offer tours by request and have a great selection of whiskeys for all tastes. We bought the "Classic Carolina Nightlab 1.0" and it's smooth..... recommend a visit.

Yelp
First time visit. I can't believe I have not visited here previously. They have a little tasting room and a full bar. The tasting room is free. The staff is very friendly and the cocktails are marvelous. We will be back. I may have bought a limited release bottle.

Yelp
After running a few errands and enjoying the weather, I decided that I would go downtown for a drink instead of going home for the evening. I was headed to Fiddlin Fish, but I saw the gem of a spot and decided to pop in here first. The bar tenders were super friendly. They greeted me upon entry. It was almost 7pm. They weren't very busy. There were a few folks lounging and charring in their casual seating area and a few ladies at the bar. The esthetic was just what I would expect from a craft cocktail bar at a whisky distillery. It was woody and warm. Very masculine, but still sof and comfortable. After chatting with the bartender and the other ladies at the bar k went with the Blood Moon Orange drink that was made with their Big Winston Bourbon. The Bourbon just didn't allow me to taste the blood orange syrup. The bar tenders added a little extra syrup. It help a little but still Bourbon likes all of the attention and was NOT trying to share the spotlight. I will say that this was one of the smoothest bourbons I've ever experienced. No bite in the finish. They do have a daily drink special and last night it was margaritas. The ladies I was chatting with got one of those and said that they enjoyed it. While they of course serve their own spirits, they offer a variety of others. Just ask! I will be back and would recommend this was a mature adults night out! Great vibes!

Yelp
Really loved this distillery in the heart of Winston Salem. They have a few different spirits but whiskey was the standout! We were able to taste several of the whiskies and left with a few bottles. They have an awesome tasting room and Blake was a great guide! They also have a really cool cocktail bar next door (the rye old fashioned was excellent). Can't recommend enough!
google avatar

Yelp
Very dope spot with a unique menu! The area surrounding the spot is a quaint shopping center with other bars and quick bites. They seem to all work together so you can take your Broad Branch drink to-go next door for some food!

Yelp
Nothing but good things go say about this place. We were able to do a tasting and Blake took excellent care of us. We purchased a few bottles as well. I can't wait to go back to try the cocktail bar! Thanks again!

Yelp
Nice for a tasting. They have rum and bourbon. Blake was nice and knowledgeable. There is also a bar for cocktails but it was closing so we didn't try any. I loved the chai rum that just came out. Bottles start at $34. Seating area is cute too.

Yelp
We walked in and they were just starting a tasting. Our group was able to participate! I am not a big whiskey lover but my son and husband are. They enjoyed the tasting and bought a bottle to take home. Everyone got drinks ( there is wine for those who don't drink whiskey) and my husband and son got hand rolled cigars and we enjoyed ourselves on the patio. This is one of the only places you can enjoy a glass of whiskey with a cigar.

Christian B.

Yelp
Cool distillery that seems to be doing everything right in terms of sourcing and making decent juice. They were nice and knowledgeable when I did a tour and tasting. The bottles were just a bit pricey for me, but I got a barrel strength expression.

Yelp
Broad Branch is such an amazing find! This gem is nestled in the heart of Winston-Salem. I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the owners Anna, and can clearly see how much love and pride she has for this venue and the customer experience. Amazing staff and drinks! Highly recommend

Yelp
Had an amazing time. Broad Branch was beautiful. The staff were AWESOME . Very welcoming and didn't mind answering questions. Very clean and organized. Everyone was perfectly balanced with fun and professional. Highly recommended even if you don't drink, the experience is 100% worth it. Thank you all for an amazing experience.

Yelp
MY 400TH YELP REVIEW! WHOOHOO! Although I love visiting distilleries when I travel, it's nice sometimes to have a "home game." I had toured Broad Branch Distillery in Winston-Salem, North Carolina once before (for a Yelp event), but when my family was visiting from California recently I visited again. We didn't get a full tour the second time, but distiller Joe did take us into the working part of the facility where they were distilling at the time. There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh distillate off the still. Although they are now making rye whiskey and rum and other spirits, the first product I had from Broad Branch when it first came out in 2015 was the Nightlab 1.0. According to Joe, this is made in the style of North Carolina distiller Frank Williams who passed the recipe on to Broad Branch. The mashbill includes corn, rye, malted barley, hops, and sugar. Whether you get a tour or not (cost is $10 and includes a tasting -- check the distillery website for the current schedule), a tasting is in order on any visit. Our group tried everything on offer, which included Night Lab unaged whiskey, Smashing Violet (Night Lab infused with blueberries), Rye Fidelity (Rye-Fi), Sungrazer rum, and Nobilium whiskey (their base spirit aged for 2 years in European oak barrels). Since I already own the Night Lab and Smashing Violet (and too much rye and rum), I took the opportunity to take home the last available bottle of "Supercollider," a.k.a., "The Big Blend Theory." (Thanks to my brother-in-law Wayne for buying this for me!) According to Broad Branch, this is a "collision between 100% WA State Rye Whiskey and fresh Honey Crisp and Fuji apples, mashed and fermented together, then distilled. Rested in new oak and finished in brandy barrels, the result is a delicious, refined spirit with gentle flavors of cooked fruit, maple, and spice." Having now tasted the Supercollider, I have to agree with their description. Delicious straight up, on the rocks, or as part of any fruity, whiskey-based cocktail.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Broad Branch Distillery somewhat by accident, but I have no doubt we'll be back! Ayyoub was so welcoming, knowledgeable and fun! We tried several of the cocktails and they were equally beautiful and delicious! They have an awesome, spacious area with outdoor seating as well

Yelp
These guys are really nice. They are talkative, informative, funny, and generous. The tasting are awesome. We came when it was sort of being redesigned, so there was a lot of stuff everywhere. I imagine it's not always this way. I would totally come back here and recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Christie F.

Yelp
Blake was very informative as we sampled their eyes. He was incredibly friendly and knew a lot about their history. We definitely want to return at a time when they're doing tours!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! They make all there drinks right here on the premise. They also do a tour of their distillery. The prices are really reasonable. They do sell their products at the ABC store, but if you want the full experience you need to come down to their location. The women that runs the place is the daughter of the founder. Make sure to take the time if you are in downtown Winston-Salem to come in for a sample. I did and ended up leaving with a bottle of "Moonshine".
google avatar

Sierra H.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place, and it was such a great experience! You can tell the people working are very passionate and knowledgeable about the products. They gave us a few tastings of their spirits and gave many stories and insight on what to pair it with. The blueberry whiskey was a definite favorite with our group! Thanks again for being so welcoming and friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
I am very excited to see how Broad Branch grows! Although I am not their number #1 fan regarding product and pricing, I love how they have brought a tradition of North Carolina to Winston Salem. For those that love the moonshine culture and want distilleries to do it "the old way," this is not really the place for you. The guys are incredibly nice and will tell you all about their experiments! They have taken the tradition and escalated to 2k19 tech and industry. This doesn't mean it is bad, it is just different. My advice? Even if you love the traditional, just give it a shot, and respect it for being different. I am happy they have found a home in Winston and excited for what happens with the business in upcoming years!

Yelp
Fantastic rye whiskey and a definitely passionate crew. The blackberry whiskey and the rum were really impressive as well. Tastings were free, and neat pours, glassware, and bottles were all reasonably priced. They also had cocktail recommendations for what they had to sell, which definitely seem worth exploring. They don't ship around the country, but they are found in some bars around Winston-Salem. Definitely keep an eye on them if you're into the area.

Yelp
If you say blueberry, I'm usually down to party. Broad Branch has a blueberry whisky (smashing violet), so you know I was in. The distiller took my party "behind the bar" to see the still in action up close and personal. It featured probably the best, easiest to understand discussion of hearts, heads, and tails I've had in an NC distillery. The tasting is really cool, and you get a lot more options to choose from now than you did last year at this time. My favorites are the violet, night lab (plain clear whisky), and nobilium (barrel aged goodness). The distiller and staff are always helpful and fun...and talkative. Be sure not to trash talk the local anthropology museum, as that can get awkward ;). If you can find them open, pop in and try this place!
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
What a surprising find! Now I have to be honest this is not my sort of liquor. However, I had fun sampling and my husband has truly enjoyed his bottle. I highly recommend popping in. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Outstanding experience! Ayyoub does a great job with the tastings, really explaining the various products so well. He mixes great cocktails, too! I enjoyed all of the spirits, but especially the whiskeys (I'm a bourbon guy). Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

Barrett S.

Yelp
Shout out to Ayyou for serving up some magical Mules at Broad Branch Distillery! Enjoyed the visit

Yelp
This place tucked away in an old tobacco warehouse drove me crazy since I've moved here. I'd walk past that cool logo and peek inside to see the kettles but no body home. The tours are only twice a month and I happen to never plan enough ahead to be there at the right time!.. finally I ran into someone that worked there on a trip down and he told me they are a working distillery with limited tour times (6:30 on the 1st/3rd Friday of the month) and I could book a private one for 10 if the 2 monthly times don't work so I did! We enter to a beautiful bar with Southern charm, pay our $5 admission and are off. There are 3 employees and all were there full of information and happy to answer any questions. Joe lead us and gave a very in-depth yet casual tour of both the process and background on their business. I love the science of fermentation so it was right up my alley but other casual drinkers may get bored with it. One of the highlights was tasting all the local, heirloom ingredients that get distilled. We finish at the bar with tasting of their craft. All are very unique, most unique is the Nightlab which started it all. It's legally sold as a Whiskey but borders on moonshine. I love the unique combo of the sweet corn, rye and hops. Smashing Violet is another great option, Eastern NC blueberries fermented in the whiskey! Per NC state law you can buy 1 bottle per year so it was a tough choice! Once I did choose I was given lots of recipe suggestions and a tip to go to Tate's for more suggestions. I look forward to seeing more come out of this place and was told if anyone's inside just knock on the window and say hi!

Kevin A.

Yelp
Cool location, good outdoor service and really good spirits. Highly recommend the rye and smashing violet.

Yelp
It is good to see the folks running a place really love what they do. That is the case for Broad Branch Distillery. We were here for a tour of the distillery and Joe explained the art and science of making alcohol. From the grain to the glass, every step requires a deep understanding of the science and a passion to make something unique that you love. If you visit the distillery, don't miss tasting the versions that are the favorites and the ones that have not yet been launched.
google avatar

Charles W.

Yelp
If you like craft spirits this is the place to go. Swing by and pick up a bottle or two. Might I suggest the 6-year Straight Rye. And try the Smashing Violet blueberry whiskey. Very surprising!
google avatar

Steph B.

Yelp
One of the best, if not the best, distillery/brewery/winery tours I've ever been on! And I've been on a lot of them. These folks are clearly passionate about what they do, which is awesome, and Joe did a pretty good job of explaining the complicated science and machinery. (Please don't give me a quiz though, ha) The alcohol was tasty too - two clear whiskeys, a rum, and a delicious blueberry whiskey which sounds a little loony but the blueberry taste isn't too sweet, it's fresh and well-balanced! And definitely eat before or after the tour before you drive anywhere. You can only buy one bottle a year of their wares at the distillery but they are sold in local ABC stores! And they have some other fun swag at the distillery, too.
google avatar

Robert Y.

Yelp
I recently came back here with some friends after going on a Yelp Warehouse Tour. We took a tour, which was different from last time, but no less entertaining. I was impressed with the knowledge and the passion of the staff, especially Joe, who should probably have his own show. Their wares are pricey, but completely worth it. I didn't drink this time, but I will say I like their whiskey.
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this awesome place while visiting from CA. The man who was working, Joe was so friendly, very nice to speak to, had so much knowledge and life experience. The blueberry whiskey is so unique and we loved it! Too bad we can't buy from home in CA. It's definitely a favorite to have on hand.
google avatar

Dave H.

Yelp
Nice local place with local traditions. Tour is very informative. Cool gift shop with booze available once a year. Definitely stop in when you can. Wish their hours were more obvious however.
google avatar

Kitty C.

Yelp
Charming men selling decent booze. The blueberry flavored "whiskey" is interesting and not bad. Just not something I need to keep around. The unaged whiskey is all kick and no flavor. I'll be interested to stop back by when the bourbon comes out of the casks.

Yelp
3 buddies and myself started a journey one Saturday morning to drink all of what Winston-Salem had to offer. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would stumble into a distillery experience like Broad Brach. The distillery is sandwiched between a chocolate factory and a brewery and makes for a great stop for all taste buds. The distillery has a small tasting room and was ideal for our size group. One of the distillers greatest up and started telling us about their five different types of alcohol they distill in house. They have three types of moonshine, one type of rum, and one aged whiskey. Since the place is not legally a bar, we were able to do a tasting. The distiller was very knowledgeable and walked us through the process for all of the different products. He talked chemistry and also some audio recording. The flavored moonshine was by far the star of the show. Where most moonshine is flavored with syrups leaving a cough syrup like effect, this was smooth and very flavorful. The rum was very good as well. This place is great. The people are great. Even the prices for the craft spirits are reasonable. Support this local distillery and drink good spirits.

Erik J.

Yelp
Neat to peek into but I have to ding them for having one closing time (4p) on their sign out front and another (5p) on their social media. Ducking in at 3:50 and seeing no customers or staff anywhere in sight after hustling across town thinking it was the latter disappointingly confirmed the former...I think. I would say i will try another time but I live three hours away so that is iffy.
