The 20 Best Bagels In New York City, Ranked

"This narrow shop on the Upper West is crowded with folks ordering elaborate sandwiches with things like avocado and microgreens, or Carnegie Deli pastrami, or even a french toast bagel with mango cream cheese. All good options, but even just a simple slather of scallion cream cheese is great on their chewy, flavorful, browner-than-average bagels, which are easily identifiable by the notable swirling cracks in the crust. Inside, it looks like a cookie-cutter deli, but there's some decent sidewalk real estate where you can hammer out an email or stop to admire a doodle. They've got locations in Columbus Circle and Times Square, too. " - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah

Google
Just an amazing bagel place and such a choice. Found by doing a good old google search. Was always packed. Despite being so busy staff were amazing and service all off pat and to be honest was completely surprised how quick it all was as was expecting a long wait. We visited 3 times during our weeks stay and every bagel was amazing. My favourite was the cucumber cream cheese with smoked salmon. Managed to get a table inside twice and ate outside standing at one of the outside table. Would completely recommend.

Google
At first glance Broad Nosh doesn’t look much like a bagel spot and you may even miss it if you walk a little too fast. The space is decently sized but extremely packed as it seems very popular with locals and tourists, which makes sense given its location. The space is clean but you will be cramped as you squeeze in to get an order off. We ordered a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and an everything bagel with plain cream cheese with a coffee. The orders came out pretty quick given the volume of people there, but we will add that they certainly could benefit from having more workers there. Once we sat down and ate our bagels we were left with mixed feelings. While the bagels weren’t bad, they definitely don’t hold up to others in NYC, let alone the same neighborhood. They have a good texture and crunch but don’t wow you at first bite. The cream cheese is just okay and they put an average amount of it on there in case you’re someone looking for a place that stuffs their bagels. The coffee was a big miss as well. No real flavor and that’s with a splash of milk and sugar. It tasted a bit watered down and that’s coming with the expectation that it would be. Overall, Broad Nosh is a decent bagel spot, just not one we would recommend to others in the neighborhood as there are much better options just a few minutes away.

When we first got there, there was a long line of people waiting to get into the shop to order their bagels, despite this, we decided to wait. The line went pretty quick, the team was fast and organized, and i honestly admire their dedication and pace. We met the owner who was beyond nice and we were so happy to meet him! We chatted with him for a bit and he even translated a few sentences into polish, as we are bilingual and originally from poland. He seems dedicated to his business and super friendly- thank you for taking the time to get to know your customers! We got 1 pumpernickel bagel with tofu herb cream cheese, 1 egg everything bagel with cucumber cream cheese, and 5 bagels to take home: 2 pumpernickel, garlic, onion, and egg. The bagels were great! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really liked the tofu herb cream cheese! It was the ideal thing to take to central park and have a picnic, as it’s just a street away.

Google
This is a great spot for fresh, customizable meals. The bread and ingredients are always super fresh, and the coffee is surprisingly good too. Even when it’s busy (which it usually is), the wait time is pretty reasonable. Seating is limited, so it’s best for takeout. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
Walked 17 minutes to here and well worth it. The eatery is almost fully packed at 7.30am. A very good bagel experience. I ordered sausage egg and cheese bagel which is very good. I added the cream cheese which made it too heavy for my liking but that’s on me to made the add. $17 for a big sized bagel and coffee.

Google
one of New York’s iconic food spots, the mango cream cheese is rich, with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I especially love their toasted French bagel—crispy on the outside, yet wonderfully chewy inside. A must-try!

Google
Wanted to grab some bagels to go and eat them by Central Park. We should’ve went a little earlier because the line was pretty long. I was sure we’d be in line for about an hour but, we ended up only being in line for about 30-40 minutes. I could tell right away this spot is popular! Staff was super nice they had a lot of variety. The only complaint I have is because of how crowded it was, it was difficult to place yourselves. We ordered our bagels (depending on which one you get they can be quite pricey) and oh my goodness they were phenomenal! The bread was thick and you could tell that it was freshly made, cream cheese was fluffy and delicious. It was a good call and it made us so full with just the one half. We had to eat the other half afterwards. But really I would come here again and try other things too!

Google
Nice bagels here with great service from the staffs. Went there last Saturday on 20th September, the staff who was taking the order did such an amazing job by recommending few options on their menu. As someone who is visiting New York and having bagel for the first time, I truly appreciate the great service provided by the team at this outlet. I ordered the French Toast with mango cream cheese and also had the chance to try their salmon. Both bagels are so delicious and I'm glad that I chose this outlet for my bagel experience in New York.

Yelp
Great bagels and salmon. Line was out the door but they are efficient and I got through in about 20 minutes. Worth it!

McKenna H.

Yelp
the best bagel i've seriously ever had! the bagels were fresh, delicious and hugeeeeee. It took all of 10 minutes despite the huge line almost to the door. definitely would recommend and visit this every time im in the city!

Yelp
Best bagels I've had in NYC! Stopped by Broad Nosh Bagel while in the city and I'm so glad I did! The bagels are fresh, chewy, and have that perfect NY-style crunch on the outside. I got the everything bagel with salmon and a cream cheese--simple but SO good. Service was friendly, and they have a nice variety of spreads, and coffee. Prices are reasonable for the area too. If you're in NYC and want a real bagel experience with the long tourist lines, definitely check this place out!

Yelp
The bagel was good. Not the best I've had nearby, but it was airy, fresh, and they heaped on the cream cheese. The staff wasn't friendly -- I asked the worker the price of a bagel and he said, "I don't know I just work here." His co-worker cut in and told me the price but he was snappy about it. No clue why. They seemed upset I was asking about the price, which makes sense because it wasn't cheap!

Yelp
I needed to bring home bagels to Philly. This was next to our parking garage and had great reviews. I got a French Toast bagel with mango cream cheese. At first glance I was a little unsure. This bagel looked like it was a little too neat and clean to be a NY bagel to me. But it did have what I was looking for. The outside was crusty. It was chewy and not too bready. The flavor combo worked. I left impressed. It's worthy. And I have a half dozen to eat and share back home.

Yelp
Sorry don't get the hype. Must be the location? It was good but if you're looking for a traditional bagel this isn't it. Too big and puffy. Look for the old spots where a bagel is a normal size, it has chewiness and a crisp powder crust. You can eat one of these bagels and it would be considered dinner. It's packed, line moves well enough, and tables do open up. I probably skip this place next time around.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning just after 9 AM. We lucked out and the line was short, but just a few minutes later it was out the door and down the street. After eating the food, I can understand why! The interior is deli-style where you put your order in and then pay at the register while you wait for the food. We got our food and ate outside at the standing tables. Got an Asiago bagel with salmon and bacon cream cheese. They don't skimp on the cream cheese which was much appreciated. The sandwich also came with delicious raw red onion, capers, and tomato. Probably my favorite bagel I've had in years! Also got the cinnamon bun which was hefty and exactly the kind of flavor and frosting you want out of one. Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area.

Yelp
We loved this place so much that we made it a point to make it here on our last day in NYC! Best bagel place in NYC, and we've been to many! The best part is the owner, Robert, came to greet all the customers. Such a sweet and charismatic man! Very humble and gracious. The place is very popular, but the line goes fast, and the food/drinks are so worth it! We love the ambiance, so clean, and we got a seat inside!! Best bagel place in NYC!

Yelp
Absolutely stoked there was a place to get a killer bagel with vegan cream cheese! Especially a place that had more than 1 choice for flavor. I wish it was easier to see the bagel flavors because the sheet they had didn't include them all that I could kind of see over the counter. The service was ok. I know how busy it can get and how annoying it can be to serve the public so I can't knock it too much but they did forget our coffee order then insisted we ordered online when we didn't. Either way, it became an argument for no reason bc regardless of how we ordered it was still forgotten. The place is very small but they work fast so while it may be tough to get a table, they open up decently quickly.

Yelp
Great spot for bagels. The sight of so many cream cheese flavors makes your soul happy. I got smoked salmon on everything bagel. It was a sandwich which has a generous amount of smoked salmon, spring onion cream cheese, capers, tomato and onion. It was very tasty l. I got full with half of it. This place is small and very crowded, I saw people trying different combinations. Staff was fast moving. This place is just across Central Park so very popular.

Yelp
I've been dreaming of this place since I ate there a few weeks ago. Out of the many delis in Manhattan, I decided to go here because they offer a variety of vegan spreads. I was very impressed by how the staff beautifully displayed the cream cheese. They all seemed so fresh, and I believe they are whipped. On the day I visited Broad Nosh, they had 4 different vegan cream cheeses, although I didn't notice any chickpea-based ones like I had seen on their website. The line moved quickly. Next, I paid and received a number. About 5 minutes later, they called me up to get my bagel. The bagel itself was super fresh, and the cream cheese was so incredibly delicious! Oh, and they loaded on the cream cheese! I had easily found a table to sit at; I'm guessing because a lot of people take their breakfast to go. I will definitely be back here next time I visit NYC!

Yelp
Land of bagels ... ya know. They should masterclass on how to market a bagel shop to Gotham "pilgrims". Get here early for your fill of round dough with a hole in it with your favorite cream cheese .... I mean mango, jalapeño .... they also have lox and white fish for the purists. Overall a decent spot for a decent bagel.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid spot for a bagel! They give you the right amount of cream cheese. I did prefer the bagel and cream cheese over the egg bagel. I'd definitely come back again and try something new!

Yelp
Came here with friends before our spa day, met Robert, the owner, he was really nice. I got the lock bagel and it was honestly super super yummy. I would definitely recommend. Didn't know what the price was going to be before I bought it, but I would say it was worth it. The atmosphere is bustling and busy, and it was pretty crowded, so you better know what you want when you get to the front.

Yelp
Located in Central Park, this viral bagel spot is worth the try! Be warned that it has quite a small interior with very limited seating, and the inside is almost always packed. The servers behind the counter were quick, attentive and efficient, despite the chaos within the bagel shop. I ordered the smoked salmon/lox bagel on an Everything bagel with green onion and chive cream cheese, as well as an Everything bagel with bacon, green onion, and chive cream cheese. In addition, I tried their iced vanilla latte from their in-house café. The smoked salmon/lox bagel with all of the vegetables included was definitely the best thing I ordered. It is also one of their more popular orders, for good reason. The bagel was soft on the inside with the crisp outside, and the salmon was so flavorful and paired perfectly with everything else. In my opinion, the bacon cream cheese bagel did not even compare to the smoked salmon bagel. The iced vanilla latte was decent, but the vanilla syrup wasn't my favorite since it tasted a bit artificial to me, but otherwise overall a very delicious meal to try when in NYC!

Yelp
Loved this place! As a visitor, it was a great way to get a tasty breakfast and start embracing the New York pace! Lol! The deli didn't have a lot of seating, but each table was packed and it almost served as an invitation to step outside and experience the city in the outdoor seating. They have a fantastic juice bar at the front of the line followed by an amazing spread of spreads! My favorite is the chipotle chive! I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on an Asiago bagel with that chipotle spread! Yowza! So good! There a is a little waiting for the order along with all the other ticket holders, but it wasn't bad....and it was well worth the wait. While a local pigeon was staring at me like, "hey buddy drop me some", I was caught up in enjoying the perfectly chewy bagel, hot eggs and sausage, and the subtle smoky kick from the spread! I 100% recommend!

Yelp
Landed on this place for bagels as it had the best reviews of spots around our hotel! It definitely lived up to the hype. 100% would recommend ordering online/uber eats. We did this and went to pick up 15 mins later and it was ready! There's a pickup spot in the very back of the cafe near the kitchen. It was jam packed on Saturday morning. The line was all the way out the door and a little ways down the block. With the pickup order, you can skip the line. Prices felt really fair for what we got! I had an iced coffee with almond milk and caramel and my mom got an iced vanilla latte! Both very tasty. We also both had the same lox bagel as well and it was delish! I wish I could have tasted the capers more!
google avatar

Yelp
We got our bagel fix at Broad Nosh! stood in a decent line, but it moved steadily. Of course many spreads and bagels to choose from and they even served premade sandwiches and soups like matzo ball. I went for the toasted everything bagel with lox, egg, and green onion vegan cream cheese on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bagel was nicely toasted, soft inner texture, had a good amount of lox and egg, and I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy the vegan cream cheese tasted. Note: always ask for cream cheese on the side as it can get quite messy when all together. One star taken off as hubby's breakfast bagel initially had some issues. They forgot the bacon...with the crowds, wait time to get it taken care of took awhile! Decent bagels and spreads. Expect a wait.

Yelp
Great bagel as always! One of my go tos when I'm in the city. Service is always super quick

Yelp
Amazing bagels, even for New York City and New Jersey standards I only come here. On 7/6/25 at 10:11am EST it was super packed (see pics). The beagles are fluffy, big, chewy, just the right amount of salt. I love most of their bagels, except the asiago one seems to be very low on the cheese. With the cinnamon raisin and everything bagel as well as the blueberry and sesame are one of my favorites. You're much better off buying cream cheese on your own because cream cheese at the store inside the bagel will cost you at least three or four dollars extra. I just like to buy the bagels plain and if they want to cut it for you, that's great if that's what you want, but I don't like to cut it because I don't like it to be not fresh when I eat them. You will not be disappointed, so I hope they keep up the integrity of the bagel that they provide because I will always go to this one store only.

Yelp
One of my new favorite bagel spots! Broad Nosh has been around for a while but I've somehow only recently discovered it. Everything bagel with lox, capers, onion, lettuce and tomato was amazing. Also really liked the chicken salad. Finally, the scallion tofu cream cheese (vegan) is great for the dairy-free among us!
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Really busy deli during breakfast but really good bagels and cream cheese. Came on a Monday around 9:30am on a really rainy morning and the line was at the door. Expect it to take 10-15 to get your order in and then 20-30 minutes to get your food. Loved my everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese. Also tried an almond and chocolate croissant which was good but I think I'd prefer the almond better. Oh, and the fresh orange juice is excellent!
google avatar

Bubu N.

Yelp
I got the nova lox and it's the best place I've had so far. Bagels are huge, generous, and service was quick and easy. Worth the price and there's a lot of seating area! It's a clean and bright little shop. I'm not from around here but I'll be hitting this place every morning while I am.
google avatar

Alli B.

Yelp
Got an egg and cheese with chipotle scallion cream cheese on an egg everything bagel and it was fantastic. There was a line but it moved quickly and gave me time to decide what I wanted. Brought my bagel to Central Park and ate it there. Absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Varsha T.

Yelp
DELICIOUS bagels. so so so crowded but definitely worth the wait. the everything bagel with jalepeno cream cheese was incredible. the cream cheese was light, spicy, and delish. waited around 20 mins but definitely worth the wait. not many seats inside but central park is so close so i opted to enjoy my bagel there.
google avatar

Maddison H.

Yelp
Cute place! Small inside and packed, but the line moves very quickly. Lots of good looking food inside besides bagels I was tempted to try. Got a bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich on a salted bagel. The sandwich was good, I liked that the eggs were fried and not an omelette inside, the bacon was good too. The bagel wasn't quite as good as we'd hoped, just a little on the tougher side than one we'd had elsewhere.

Yelp
Steps away from the Columbus Circle NW metro station is where bagel-deliciousness can be found. Take the steps down and open the door to a bustling crowd of people patiently waiting and the efficient "New York" service that will get you in and out in no time. Our group arrived at 9AM-ish and got in line with maybe 10 people ahead of us. I thought we would have ample time to figure out what to order but I heard "NEXT" after only 5 mins. (so the order taking moves faster than the line) I chose a plain bagel with lox cream cheese - what can go wrong with that right? I was handed a slip with my order and waited for the line to reach the cashier. My order was bagged and ready by the time I paid but they do call out numbers There is only 2 tables inside, both taken) so we headed to Columbus circle to sit. OMG the bagel is so fresh, soft and chewy and the lox cream cheese had loads of salmon. Each bit was heavenly. They have heartier breakfast options which I heard people behind me order like sausage egg bagel sandwich.
google avatar

Laura D.

Yelp
I really wish I didn't like the bagels here so much so I can stop eating them lol. The everything bagel and vegetable cream cheese combination is excellent. The bagels taste so fresh!
google avatar

Jan F.

Yelp
The food and the beverages were fresh and came in a variety of interesting options. Ambience was that of a typical deli, but slightly tidier. Service was efficient. Price was good for the quality.
google avatar

Euna L.

Yelp
Good quick bite in the morning and soft bagels. Strawberry cream cheese is good and service is quick.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Got smoked salmon on everything bagel and a pastrami egg and cheese on pumpernickel. I felt like they skimped on the lox and there could've been a more generous portion. The pastrami egg and cheese was quite dry, eggs were overcooked, and the pumpernickel bagel itself was also dry and had no flavor. The pastrami was also dry and thin. Probably would not return given the plentiful other bagel options. Handful of tables inside.
google avatar

Yelp
A solid bagel spot. This is my second time here (first time was about 2 years ago). The lines are long but they move fast. The space is small, so it gets crowded very fast, and sometimes the three lines (to order, to pay, and waiting for food) are hard to figure out where one begins and the other ends. The staff are extremely efficient and move quickly. I waited 5-10 minutes for my order. I got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese, and an everything bagel with scallion and lox cream cheese with a tomato.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
Really good bagel shop in the city. I had the white fish sandwich. It was a generous portion and the employees were nice. Chewy, perfect bagel.
google avatar

Labubu D.

Yelp
These bagels are AWESOME!! I got a salt bagel with strawberry cream chease and they load the bagels up with cream cheese. I waited about 15-20 minutes but the bagel was great. Theres a wide selection of bagels and cream cheese types but the also have cheeseburgers, cookies, sandwhiches, and more. There are bathrooms and some decor. I also got a smoothie and it tasted really natural and really good. They have outdoor seating and they are usually crowded during breakfast or lunch. For breakfeast, you would either wanna come early or at 12pm
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Great quality bagels and coffee for a reasonable price. An ample amount of cream cheese (a bit too much) was provided. Smoothie was a bit of a let down and had the taste and consistency of watered down yogurt. But if you're here for the bagels and a cup of black coffee it's worth the stop!
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
Unexpectedly amazing bagel! I had never heard of this place and just happened to stumble upon it while in the area one day, and I noticed that the reviews seemed a lot higher than most other bagel spots-so I knew I needed to try it! And now I see why the reviews are so favorable--I just got an everything bagel with butter, so can't speak to the cream cheese or other toppings. But the bagel itself was perfectly crisp on the outside and really soft and airy on the inside. I didn't get it toasted, and I could immediately tell how fresh it was from the first bite. The consistency of the bagel was a bit different from most other bagel places I've had; the bottom almost had a similar feel to the bottom of a roll of bread, but i didn't bother me because the crunch on the top/moistness on the inside-was enough to win me over
google avatar

Taylor H.

Yelp
Pro tip order online and then pick up with no line! Follow the signs to online order pick up. I got a sausage, egg and cheese on and everything bagel. I added cream cheese and it was left out, but the bagel is super yummy still. Not the best gluten-free bag I've ever had but extremely satisfying! Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Vanessa J.

Yelp
Awesome bagel spot! It was a recommendation from a receptionist at UCLA Health and I'm glad I got it! The space was busy but the line moved efficiently. The space inside is tight while you wait for your order but it's worth it. We kept it simple with a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and a sesame seed bagel with garlic and vegetable spread! So huge and delicious!
google avatar

Paris F.

Yelp
Yes I approve 100 percent. As skeptical about my understanding of good and bad bagels, that doubt about myself disappeared as I bit into this amazing perfect jalapeño cheddar bagley with scallion cream cheese. It's really the scallion cream cheese I m in love with. On a side note, grab a coffee elsewhere.
google avatar

Khristina S.

Yelp
The bagels are top-notch. I found the pumpernickel to be tougher than I'd like, but I ate here two days in a row & the food is 100% worth the wait. The staff isn't always the most friendly, but they're in a rush just like the rest of NY. Get there early to find a table - they come at a premium.
google avatar

Katelyn W.

Yelp
This place was a little chaotic but a well oiled machine. They take your order quickly and you wait to get your order after you pay. Almost too quickly as I didn't know what I wanted and they were ready to take our order the second we got in the place! Order takers weren't the sunniest but it's NYC and they want to serve you quickly. I had the salmon and cream cheese bagel with capers. Bagel was chewy on the outside and soft inside. Cream cheese was smooth without feeling too rich and the salmon was so good. My husband got an egg, cheese and sausage bagel that was also tasty. It was raining so we couldn't take it on the go, so we waited a few for some seating and was able to squeeze in. We'd pop in again when we're in town!
google avatar

Mehaa S.

Yelp
Solid nyc bagel joint! Went to the times Square location and it was pretty spacious for nyc with plenty of seating and a clean bathroom (also a godsend in the city). Got a simple bagel with schmear and like any true new york bagel it was huge and I could only finish half. I got the chipotle scallion schmear and it was well made, i could tell the scallions had been chopped fresh. Service was pretty fast and everyone was really friendly

Yelp
I love the vibe in here. When there are so many places to get a great bagel in New York, bagel shops like Broad Nosh are doing all the things right. The inside is bright and open with all the bagels and spreads up front and center making your mouth water before you even order. There's lots of seating inside and out so come and eat in if you have time. Sites like Yelp are very helpful for a first timer here because you better know what your order is when it's your turn! They don't play around with moving people in and out of the line here. The sass at the pickup counter is quintessential New York attitude and I absolutely love it. A little schooling on how to properly pick up your order when they call it out equates to your mom giving you a slap on the back of your hand reaching for a fresh baked cookie without saying please first and don't even consider grabbing your order yourself. You will be publicly scolded but in such a way that you definitely come back and do it right the next time. My bacon egg and cheese was delicious but I should have ordered it on an everything bagel instead of sesame. It needed salt because the bacon didn't provide enough of that. It's my fault because I ordered it. Lessons learned for my palate. My husband got nova lox, chive cream cheese, red onion and capers on an everything bagel. I didn't try it but he loved it and ate every bite. We sat inside for a while people watching and planning our next adventure. Speaking from a visitor who loves New York because its so different from where I live that the energy in the city, sparks and adventurous spirit in me.

Yelp
After checking into our hotel, our first priority was to get a bite to eat and we decided to go here. I'm not a bagel person myself, probably because my hometown is not known for bagels. But NYC is, so that's why I wanted to try it. When we arrived late morning, the place was still very busy, but the line moved fast. I ordered a sesame bagel with lox scallion spread. It took a 5 minutes to get it heated and ready, which gave me time to secure a table. It was good. Nothing fancy, but was a quick and satisfying visit

Yelp
Excited to finally try this iconic bagel shop. Walking in, you can see the assortment of cream cheeses they have, along with the line of people waiting for their bagel order. It was a Thursday at 7am when we went and the line moves quick. We ordered a smoked salmon with chive cream cheese on a garlic bagel and walked over to Central Park to eat it. It was delicious though I definitely would have changed the type of bagel we had. By the time we ate our bagel, it was cold. The lox was incredible and wish we had more. There was more bread than cream cheese. Would we try it again? Sure, but we'd probably try other bagel places before heading back to this one.

Yelp
Solid bagels and quality deli. Although the line is quite long on the weekends, they move through it efficiently. Would recommend.

Yelp
The bagel itself is really good and I love the selection of cream cheeses. We were total noobs ordering because we sounded unsure so it's best to decide beforehand to keep the line moving (lol I think we got some stares from locals). We wanted some soup that was on the menu but when we got to the front, they told us they no longer carry soup. It's confusing because it's still listed on the menu? Anyways, try their bagel!

Yelp
A solid sausage egg and cheese bagel. Nothing insane, but the quality of everything was great. The bagel was also that right texture, not too soft but also not too hard. Bagels were made quickly by nice staff. This isn't a place to come to eat in, but the Columbus square area is a beautiful place to find an outdoor spot to eat. I love watching New York bagel spots go to work in the back.
