Where to Get the Best Boiled Crawfish In New Orleans Right Now

"Broadview is another great family-run Broad Street seafood market — this one calls itself the “Crawfish House of America.” Good prices and friendly service. Conveniently opened every day, 10:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m." - Clair Lorell, Beth D'Addono

One of my go-to places when I got to New Orleans. This visit was during the 2023Jazz Fest. The only issue I had was that this homeless lady came in begging for my crawfish. The workers didn't ask her to go outside as she continued to ask for my crawfish and shrimp. I told her that if she hungry, I could go across the way and get her a burger and fries to fill her up bc Crawfish was not going to get you full. I couldn't enjoy my meal in peace.

Google
It’s ridiculous how I spent 40 dollars for 3 chicken plates two egg rolls waited 25 minutes thinking I’m getting fresh food hot food by the time I made it home to eat rice was so hard chicken looks like it had done been fry in old grease egg rolls was boudin egg rolls which tasted spoil it’s like people don’t care what they serve you

Inside and outside of the store was clean. I only purchased crawfish of which was pretty good. Not to salty, spicy a little high but it was good

Google
The food is not great or amazing. But it's edible. And the pricing is not too expensive. I paid 10.76 for chicken wings, fries and a cold drink. It was fine for a quick meal. I need to do better with cooking at home.

Google
I ordered through DD and purchased 3lbs of crawfish, bag of corn, potatoes and a turkey neck. My total came up to $50. Corn and potatoes were just plain boiled - didn’t have any flavor. Turkey neck needed to be boiled/soaked for way longer, it was extremely hard, borderline raw if you will. There were so many dead crawfish, it was like playing roulette while trying to eat. My bf & I both agreed that we would not recommend or be back.

Google
Out of the tourist area. Great place well used by the locals and not overpriced. I got a large cup of gumbo and a portion of fried shrimp along with Stella Artois. No

I always stop by to grab crawfish on the way to the lakefront. They are delicious. Especially with the potatoes and garlic butter! Happy Eating 😊

Yelp
I'm giving 3 stars because I've been here before and maybe it was an off day. If today was my first time trying, this would definitely be a 2 star review. Very briefly-- Snow crabs: delicious, sweet, tender, full, and moist. No weird residue. Just clean claw meat. Potatoes: 8/10. Soft but not overly cooked. Could've used a bit more seasoning but not bland. Corn: overcooked, mushy. I'm done with their corn. This is like my third time trying their corn and they're always over cooked. Crawfish: super disappointing this time around. Very bland. Not very moist. Chicken plate: an absolute NO. Fries tasted like they've been sitting under a heating lamp for days. Chicken seemed severely over cooked, refried too long, or under a lamp too long. I'll attach a photo. Hot sausage: same as chicken. Something went wrong! Overall, I think I'll leave Broadview alone for awhile. The previous time before was just okay after raving about them awhile back on here.

Yelp
Oh my oh my these Turkey Necks are the bomb. It's one thing to say you come to New Orleans for fine cuisine but we are in a whole other ball park when you can find some good old fashion country food! The spice, the flavor the taste rolling around having a party in your mouth. We tried the fried Turkey wing just to see what that was about and it didn't disappoint. The seasoning appears to have been soaked for days! The flavor was on point. The combo bag is spicy, be warned. It doesn't ask what your spice level is so it better be ready!

Yelp
I was looking for a no frills place to get crawfish on a recent trip to New Orleans. I wanted to go to J+J Seafood in Gretna, but it was closed. This place looked good to me as well and I'm glad I tried it. The place is definitely as no frills as it gets, so thanks to other Yelpers who identified that beforehand. It's a dingy place that has only two tables and is set up like a local deli. I actually called beforehand and the lady told me that the crawfish was $6 / lb. Wish I came here in years past when it was only $4 / lb, but I guess that's how things are in 2022. I ended up getting 3 lbs of crawfish ($18), and one order each of corn ($1.25) and potatoes ($1.25). Also got a bottle of soda ($2). Total came out to about $24.52. I've actually never had crawfish before so I was excited to try it. I also felt stupid because it was my first time. I watched some videos on eating crawfish and asked the lady there, who gave me some basic instructions. I think I got the basic hang of it. I wasn't sure how much to order but 3 lbs ended up being a huge amount. The bag of crawfish felt like it was never ending, which was great. I really liked the seasoning on the crawfish; it was mildly spicy and pretty flavorful IMO. There is so little meat in the crawfish though, so it's a lot of work for a small piece of meat and to suck the juices out of the head. The corn and potatoes were excellent IMO. The corn was nice and soft and the potatoes were a bit watery, but also had some solid flavor to them. It felt like it took me like 2 hours to finish my meal, but I definitely enjoyed my first crawfish experience. It seems that Broadview Seafood was good value for the amount of food I got. The people running the place seemed pretty nice and accomodating. FYI, watch out what clothes you wear when you go to eat crawfish. Because all my clothes smelled like it after I was done and the smell stayed in my hands for the rest of the day, lol. I'd give this place 4 stars overall.

Yelp
Great food! Reasonable prices! The young man working the counter was very polite and helpful. A few tables to eat your deliciousness at, and a GREAT selection of Big Shot Soda, Red Crème is delicious, just don't look at the diabetes inducing carb count!

Austin Z.

Yelp
Best soft shell crab sandwich I've ever had. The whole order was fresh out the fryer when I got it, 12/10 would recommend

Yelp
This place is a bit divey, but it's definitely a hidden gem. The crawfish boil and potatoes were seasoned to perfection. The fish poboy was very crispy and not to oily. A side of the garlic butter sauce is a must. Very fair prices too.

Yelp
I don't know if it's the day, the season, or what, but these were the absolute best boiled crawfish I've had in the city in years. The size was incredible, the cost fair (3.99/pound) and I felt so welcomed by the owner. They offer fried seafood and even banh mi. I cannot wait to try more.

Yelp
chicken was not cooked all the way staff replied that it couldn't be the entire 100 piece but who will eat any of it after opening up 4 pieces and they all was halfway cooked
google avatar

Trista T.

Yelp
The gumbo was watered down. The boiled turkey neck was bland with flavor only cayenne

Yelp
I found out about this awesome seafood shop from a few friends! They usually rave about the Hot Sausage or Fried Shrimp Po Boys, so I just had to check them out. It's a small corner store on S Broad and you will have to find street parking around the area, but it is definitely worth it! When you walk in, there are two tables on the left side, a register in the middle, and a line of glass door fridges with beverages on the right. When it came to order, the lady was really friendly and treated everyone with utmost respect! I really feel like it's hard to mess up a Hot Sausage Po Boy, so I opted for their Fried Shrimp Po Boy for my first visit. I wanted to see how they made their Po Boys and what made them so special. When the food was ready, the order was announced through an overhead speaker and you can pick up through a window right out the kitchen. The food came out fast and hot! I unwrapped my Fried Shrimp Po Boy and instantly took a bite, something I never do because I always feel the need to take pictures of my food. I got excited because I saw that they used Hi Do French bread, my favorite French bread for Po Boys! The shrimps were average sized, not too small or too big. They were lightly battered, so I could taste the shrimp. There was the perfect amount of lettuce and mayo, so everything really went well with each other. I enjoyed every single bite I took out of the Po Boy and I understood why my friends were raving about it! I came here a second time to try out their boiled food items and wanted to show a friend the amazing Po Boy I had last time. The lady helped me out again for this visit and was nice as ever! I ordered a pound of boiled crawfish and their combo bag, which included two cut potatoes, a spicy sausage link, a boiled corn, a pig's foot, and long turkey neck. It was a really good deal for around 6-7 dollars! The boiled crawfish was delicious and had a good spicy kick to it. The potatoes and corn were the usual that you usually get at other places, but the corn wasn't boiled with the crawfish pot. I loved their pig feet, it was cooked perfected and had great flavor! The turkey neck was huge and I had to get a to go box to take home to eat later! Overall, this place is awesome and I definitely recommend everybody to make their way here to eat some good crawfish and Po Boys! The service is always friendly and prices are very affordable!

Andrea P.

Yelp
The craw fish was seasoned well however the price was not visible and too high at $4.99 per lb at this time of the year. And I think I got less than the 3lbs I ordered. I learned after researching, Winn Dixie's crawfish is $1.79 per lb and Rouses $1.99 per lb.

Yelp
This was the very first place I went to try New Orleans crawfish and let me tell you I was in LOVE!! I was back in 2006 and me being from Houston and my WASband being from New Orleans he told me I have been lied to all my life about crawfish should taste...and oh my god was he right!! I love this place!!
google avatar

Yelp
Long wait for subpar fried seafood. Not with all the good choices out there... ya can't fry food in Nola if it's going to be untasty. Gumbo was a no go.
google avatar

Yelp
The crawfish is perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick. My husband does not like spicy food so we asked for a customized mild basket. Very accommodating to his disability and inability to eat anything remotely spicy. Did you know they make wings? Can we say "World's Famous?!?"
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
We were hunting for fresh fish they only had frozen only. I guess that's our mistake they had lots of other things and obviously this is a favorite place for the locals. We are pointed in another direction for fresh fish

Yelp
The food is to die for, you'll love it. The food is well-tailored and prepared to your request and liking. The store area is clean, inside and outside. Free from dirt in the eating area. Having no flaws or faults. The Owner, and Employees reflects the rare level of hospitality, only found in the New Orleans. Broadview is obviously committed to ensuring that their customers are satisfied with their purchase and experience there. Customers are provided with fast service and affordable prices. Take out, or delivered by Uber Eats, Waitr's and GrubHub. No one is made to feel uncomfortable. Every customer is greeted with a smile and is treated the same. That makes your buying experience more pleasurable. Buy with Confidence, enjoy your meal, you won't be disappointed. G. Yelp
I have wanted to try authentic gumbo for years. This is the real deal. Spicy and flavorful. I'm pretty sure I saw a chicken gizzard somewhere in there. Also, I think/hope it cured my hangover.

Ashnan H.

Yelp
I don't really understand the great reviews for this place. I ordered from here because of all of the great reviews and I was extremely disappointed. The shrimp is not cleaned, it's mushy, and it's flavorless. The same goes for the potatoes and the corn. The only saving grace was the sausage which had a lot of flavor but looked 3 days old. Never again. If you're looking for AMAZING seafood do yourself a favor and go to Cajun Seafood. If you're looking for flavorless mush then Broadview is your place. I even added some seasonings I got here at home and even that couldn't save it. Gross. Update: it is now the next day and my boyfriend and I are having serious stomach pains. Wtf? Update#2: I hate to say it and I know it might be graphic but this place gave me diarrhea. I'm still shitting water. Don't eat this shit if you don't want the runs.

Yelp
Boiled crawfish! $3.99 per pound (market price and they aren't in season in August) and spicy spicy. The place has steady traffic--mostly with people grabbing food to go--but there are 2 tables where you can stay and eat. It's a no frills, rough around the edges place. Just piles of crawfish to eat on trays, with the shells going into plastic bags. There's also other food here, but seems like most people come for the crawfish. The staff is not overly friendly, but they are actually really nice and came by and talked to us about crawfish while we were eating. I don't know much about crawfish, but we had a pretty good time. Would definitely come back when the crawfish are in season.
google avatar

Moon L.

Yelp
I love this place. Good price, quick service. I always come back here everytime I go to Nola. Everything seems to be awesome but I think if they can put less msg to the food than it would be even better.

Yelp
Tl;dr: Decent portions and a good price but the crawfish was under seasoned and the corn was over cooked SAFETY: I know that some reviews mentioned that this place is sketchier or in the ghetto -- and in out of town so it very well may be -- but it feels very safe to be there. Just a mom and pop shop that's selling food for you to take back home. CRAWFISH: We learned that crawfish were apparently very expensive whenever we dropped by; we paid $6.49/lb -- but I expected it to be cheaper. In their defense, I think crawfish was selling around $5/lb. Although the broth seemed good, the tails of the crawfish themselves were more bland than I would have preferred. POTATOES: Good and spicy, perhaps they absorbed all the flavor meant for the crawfish? They give good portions here so this fills you up if you didn't buy enough crawfish. CORN: Sadly over-cooked. My kernels were mushy and difficult to pick off one by one, which is the weird way I eat corn.

Yelp
I got the gumbo and P.O. boy half shrimp and oyster. This is amazing . I'm not disappointed at all.

Yelp
Went here last Saturday on 2/9/19. People from the hood come in here...so...I took at as safe! LOL! My shrimp plate was good asf! That bread...? OMG! The crawfish ...was tasty ...but most was too small. The owners are cool. The guy who took my order just needs to listen more. ..he charged me for the person after me...and had to adjust the price...after I TOLD HIM it wasn't my total! The have a microphone to call out your order! LOL! Check 'em out if you need a quick fix on seafood...fried or boiled. The End

Yelp
Delicious boiled crawfish 3.99/ pound, crab legs, boiled shrimp , gumbo file, crawfish pie, catfish poboy all yummy. The locals eat here! It appears to be a market With two tables but believe me, this is where you want to come for authentic NOLA fare,'!
google avatar

Chelsea A.

Yelp
Ordered take out through Uber eats. Got the 1/2 shrimp 1/2 crawfish meal that came with potato's, corn and sausage as well as added on a medium crab. The price for all that food was great! Good size portions and food came nice and hot. Potato's were perfectly cooked with just a slight hint of spice. Corn was slightly dry but fixed with butter. All in all great meal for take out and everything tasted and was cooked great!

Yelp
I can only review the crawfish boil we picked up prior to Jazzfest. We wanted to bring something to our friend's house for the pre-party so we asked the taxi driver to make a quick pitstop so we can pick up a few pounds. It's $2.69/lb for really yummy crawfish. We were so fortunate that a fresh batch just came out so it was pipin' hot. The crawfish were juicy & the boil was very flavorful. It's a separate charge if you want the potatoes & corn on the cob. We were only interested in the crawfish. We wanted to dine here after the festival one evening, but they were already closed. If they had longer hours, I'd give it 5 stars, but it doesn't & we only got to take advantage of this place for lunch. If you're in the area, definitely pick up a batch!
google avatar

Sandee L.

Yelp
Seafood smorgasbord! I don't know what they put in their marinade, but it is legit. It's on everything from the crawfish to the crab legs to the corn on the cob and packs quite a punch. Delicious! Don't forget to try the ooey gooey cake and brownies for dessert. This is a local joint. You won't find many tourists here, which is fine by me! It makes it all the more authentic.
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
We randomly got off the bus on way to hotel. Hands down the best food we had in NOLA and at a great price! I had a catfish sandwich and smoked sausage. Very well-seasoned and at perfect temperature. Lady owner is so friendly and funny, makes you feel welcomed. Regret not going back foe more good food :(.
google avatar

Jack K.

Yelp
Another wonderful place in New Orleans to get tasty Crawfish but be advised if your taste buds are conditioned for spicy food then this item, boiled crawfish, may not be for you. However, there are other items you may consider for a taste of "Nawlin, Darlin." The staff / owner was nice and personable. Furthermore, they do have inside seatings but not much of it. Please, give them a chance to make an impression for your trip or even your having a craving for a taste of New Orleans.
google avatar

Danna P.

Yelp
Would not recommend, we ordered through door dash for a work lunch. Once we receive the for it was HORRIBLE, seafood platter, shrimp and fish plate and shrimp platters was ordered. The batter on the fish was extremely hard as if it had been sitting under a light, the fries were hard and the egg and shrimp in the rice was extremely rubber as if it had been sitting. Not sure who wrote the other reviews BUT they lied it's not worth all those stars!WILL NOT ORDER FROM HER AGAIN
google avatar

Yasmin R.

Yelp
This is my second or third go to spot, if K-Jean's is closed. The crawfish are small to average in size, with a moderate price tag. But no different then what other seafood spots charge. You can count on extra spicy if that is what your palate craves and can withstand.
google avatar

Roman L.

Yelp
Had crawfish from there today. Overall size was good and taste too. Fast service as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I had some snow crab delivered and it was amaZing. I was so surprised!! Didn't know what to expect but it was sooooo yummy!!! Very fresh and juicy!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Always made hot and fresh seafood and poboys!! Best I've tried in New Orleans and will definitely need to come back. Also has very welcoming business owners!
google avatar

Yelp
OK, so my family and I were visiting the area and wanted some crawfish - we decided to yelp some places and go off the ratings from there. This was one of the places to pop up and seriously one of the best tasting crawfish I've ever had for a wonderful price! Was not disappointed at all. The crawfish was a spicy flavor, but not to where it would burn my taste buds. The crawfish seasoning nor was too sweet or sour, it honestly was perfect. I love the customer service made her by the owners as well, they were extremely kind, welcoming, and willing to go out of their way for you. They provide you with a quick service. Would highly recommend this place, wish I could bring it back home with me! This is a must stop place for crawfish in NOLA.

Khang N.

Yelp
The crawfish here are perfect. Served just the way they are supposed to be served. The best chicken wings I had!!! People here are always nice.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Very nice owners/staff. Got yakamein and boiled shrimp but need to go back and try the crawfish.
google avatar

Kayla N.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. This was the first place ordered creole food! We ordered the Gumbo combo and crab legs and oh my goodness.. it was so good. I've never liked crab because of the sweetness, but I tried this and there was NO sweetness at all. The gumbo was great as well. Made perfect for snacking on when you get back to the hotel after a long night. Next time I come back to New Orleans, it will be my personal mission to come back here.
google avatar

MaryKate D.

Yelp
Super nice people and even better food!!! Crawfish were perfectly cooked and spicy. Got an oyster po'boy and roast beef po'boy to go. Both were delicious!!! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

Brian B.

Yelp
Very poor customer service and lacking order fulfillment system. Customers were given there orders even after we ordered. When questioned the lady behind the counter raises her voice at me. I will never patronize this location nor recommend to anyone.
google avatar

Huey T.

Yelp
Well, not sure where to begin. Came across this restaurant on our to French quarter. The market is kinda run down. Crawfish are not fresh and very small. The taste was just O.K nothing to stand out. The gumbo was also not as good.
google avatar

Jay F.

Yelp
just the real friggn deal. Go sit at the bar next door and chow down. Over order and over eat.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
We came from Houston and we were staying in the mid city area and decided to walk to this local joint. We grabbed a couple of pounds and found a nice curb to sit on (YES A CURB) .. We cracked our bag open and went to town on some Crazy good crawfish.. Just enough spice, great flavor , and a great price.. We will be back next time we are in town... We didn't get a chance to try the other seafoods but I'm sure everything is probably pretty dam good..

Yelp
Some of the best crawfish I've had this season! And amazing service!! The crawfish was hot, fresh and huge! It was the highlight of my Easter party and I can't wait to purchase more food from Broadview Seafood. Seriously delicious!
google avatar

Christa D.

Yelp
Whole in the wall. Delicious! We had the boiled shrimp. They were tasty! Also had the combo bag with pig foot, sausage and turkey neck.
google avatar

TheRilla ..

Yelp
Went today to get that seafood fix. Naturally they only had frozen LA crawfish as the season is over. Ended up getting a couple of pounds of shrimp that were a bit forgetful. I think I'll stick to getting their crawfish when the season is in, as that is definitely where Broadview shines.
google avatar

Valentina R.

Yelp
The food is great and the portions are huge! One order of Catfish/Shrimp plate was easily 2 whole meals for me.
google avatar

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
I am currently walking to the garbage to throw away $50 worth of trash. I didn't think it was possible to have bad food in New Orleans but I've found the place and it's Broadview Seafood. Let me say you know it's bad when you throw away a lb of shrimp. I'm just praying I don't get sick. How do you mess up boil shrimp. You do it by just boiling shrimp. Not a drop of seasoning what so ever. They bring to life the meaning of "you get what you pay for". Although I feel like they owe me money for having endured this horrific meal. The shrimp and oyster poboy was barely edible. I assumed they would have spread the shrimp and oyster across the sandwich but they made half shrimp and the other oyster. I realized this a quarter way into the shrimp side and tried to incorporate some of the oysters to my half of the sandwich but the oysters were so gritty and taste like sand. And I'm sure the oil needs to be change as it was overpowering the whole sandwich. I didn't even bother with the rest of the items I ordered and threw everything away. The only pro is the food came 10 mins early.
