If you're in Grand Rapids, you have to check out Broadway Bar! I recently had their Broadway burrito, and let me tell you, it was fantastic. The burrito was huge, packed with flavor, and the perfect comfort food after a long day. They load it up with tender beef, rice, beans, and the right amount of spice. The sauce they use on top is what really takes it to the next level—rich, savory, and just the right amount of kick. It's definitely something you won't want to miss if you're in the area. The vibe at Broadway Bar is super laid-back, with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The whole place has this great dive bar energy, and their holiday decorations always make it feel festive. Whether you're just grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends, it’s a great spot. Highly recommend!

Google
Such a great local neighborhood bar. The atmosphere is over-the-top with holiday decorations. The staff is super down to earth and friendly. The menu is limited and what is to be expected in a local bar. Caution, the music volume changes randomly according to the owner’s whims and is sometimes so loud you cannot talk to others at your table.

Google
This is by far one of the cutest most friendliest bars in town. They decorate per every holiday and took a vote to keep xmas up year round. It's so amazing in there. It's a family owned bar of 30 plus years we met the nicest owner, daughter abd had the sweetest server Sandy. Ordered fries, Long Island and tenders 😋. It's super small and has about 5 rows of tables so reservations are definitely recommended. It's really the neatest little spot in the NW neighborhood. They are famous for there burritos. Love this place

Google
Our family had such an amazing time here. You won’t find a better spot for getting into the holiday spirit. From the soft snowballs that get tossed around to the incredible Christmas decorations, your kids will be thoroughly entertained the entire time. The entire staff was attentive and super sweet to the kids and go above and beyond to make your experience incredible. Highly recommend a visit!

Very disappointed in the way our party was treated last night. We tried a month in advance to reserve a spot for our Christmas party bus tour but their tables were booked. We had 14 people. I talked to them multiple times leading up and was told we would be good to stop in later in the night for a drink, which we did after 10 pm. They wouldn't even serve us, stating we put them over capacity. As we waited outside for our bus to pick us up, a couple went back in just to do a shot while we waited and they wouldn't serve them either because they were part of our party, only to then serve a party of 6 that just walked in. They were rude! I wouldn't recommend Broadway Bar for any large party.

Google
Love this place. Family owned and operated. The food is great. I recently ordered a burrito. It comes out on a plate that is on a platter with carrying handles. It's that big. The burgers are wonderful and the fries are awesome. They have a large selection of beer, wine and hard liquor. The place is always decorated for the season. Staff is great. I always enjoy gong here.

Google
Staff - 5 stars, they were very friendly and welcoming! Food - 3.5 stars, lacked seasoning but still ok Decor - 3.5 stars, if you are a Notre Dame fan you should visit here Other notes: it’s a local place and I almost felt out of place visiting. Everyone who came in knew everyone else type of deal.

Great burgers! Great atmosphere! Great drinks! I was going to order fries, but stayed with chips because I wanted to try the homemade chip dip. I was glad I did because it was amazing!!

Yelp
Love, love, love the Christmas theme and décor. Service was fantastic and made us feel like family. Food portions are a good size for the price. It's mostly burgers, burrito, and some other fried items like fries and mozzarella sticks. I went for the Broadway Burger, which was two patties on Texas toast, and really enjoyed it. The burrito is HUGE! Fries left little to be desired, but I wasn't expecting gourmet. Good drink list and choice of beers.

Yelp
Went for Christmas decorations with a group of. We had reservations we made a more than a month ago . I think they may be sold out but you can always try to grab a seat at the bar , family owned and the whole family was working on a Saturday. Great burgers and burritos, try the mini corn dog appetizer, so tasty . Great prices , no draft beer but a great selection and the cocktails are a good pour , great shot and beer spot

Dan H.

Yelp
Broadway Bar was recommended to us by another bar owner in town and I am glad that we stopped in. It is definitely a 'dive bar' and I mean that in a good way. We were promptly greeted and sat at the bar. It is a small place that celebrates Christmas all year round. The bar has Christmas decorations up for 'Christmas in July' and more decorating will happen throughout the rest of the year. The bar could use a deep clean, but it is not gross or off putting. The owner's daughter was our bartender and was very friendly and conversive. She recommended we have their pretzel. The pretzel is so large that they custom ordered a hanger for it. The pretzel was very soft and the beer cheese was some of the best that I have ever had. We visited a second time during our trip and I got the ham and cheese and it was fantastic. If.you are looking for good drinks, conversation and food- Broadway Bar is a good place to stop.

David G.

Yelp
Respect the customer. The worst service I ever got in a restaurant. Don't waste your time and go somewhere else.

Bandy N.

Yelp
Awesome Atmosphere Great Service, fast friendly and amazing food!!! Thank you Greg & Janice for having affordable prices. It's a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming. Amazing drinks, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.

Toby S.

Yelp
Great Westside bar. Awesome decorations. Drinks are poured well. Service was remarkable. My group had onion rings and cheese curds as appetizers. Both good. All 3 of us ordered burgers. Cheeseburger, olive burger and bacon cheeseburger. All 3 were delicious. The star of the night was the cheese curds. Wow, so good!

Matthew G.

Yelp
Great ambience and fun staff despite an odd looking exterior. Very busy but the burger was great!

Yelp
The ultimate Christmas bar experience in Grand Rapids! I love this place! We go here every December to get our fun and festive Christmas fix! The entire place is decked out in Christmas decor!!! When you go here, you are going to get your classic bar food... burgers, chicken strips, onion rings, cheese curds, etc... and it's all so good! Two major things I don't like... -You can't make reservations over the phone. You literally have to go there in person to make reservations. That sincerely makes no sense to me. What about people who don't live nearby? And speaking of reservations... you LITERALLY need to make reservations weeks in advance. Like... I would call in September or October!!! -They don't accept cards... only cash. And no one told us that. Luckily, there is an ATM there. But they should have told us when we made our reservation that they don't accept cards. Other than these things... it's a great place to have some holiday fun!

Laura M.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 20 years. The burgers are so delicious. If you're looking for the best bar burger this is your place. Nothing fancy but so good. The owners are fantastic and are always up for a conversation. This is also known as the Christmas bar. So if you plan on going any time in November or December you'll need reservations. The place is very small and only sits about 30 people. So go down and support this local establishment and get yourself the best burger in Grand Rapids.

Kimberly H.

Yelp
Apparently you are just supposed to know how things work here. It is reservation only but they don't answer the phone. We went in tonight at 5:30 with the place half full and was told its reservation only. The staff was all standing around talking to each other. Strange to say the least. The Christmas atmosphere is fun but definitely not worth the nonsense to get into this place. Too bad, could be really cool with the right management.

Andrew E.

Yelp
While driving to the bar I was confused because as you drive down broadway it turns into a neighborhood. A family has converted their home into a bar. Very nice dive bar/restaurant. The service is very good and they make you feel like you're at their home. Lots of good laughs with the waiters sense of humor. If you are a Notre Dame fan then you will like this place during college season. I ordered a cheese burger which was very tasty. It reminded me of a five guys burger. Came with home made chips which were also great. Overall the food is good. They have a broadway burger which looked good but it had two patties and I didn't feel like that much beef. If you read the reviews they are known for Halloween and Christmas. I can't wait to go back and see how they decorate their restaurant/home.

Alexa A.

Yelp
Went, got yelled at by all the staff and was told to leave. Such a joyful Christmas bar. Happy Christmas!

Scott B.

Yelp
Simply put it is one of the best burgers in the world. I really love this place. It is a family friendly bar and a must see for St. Patty's day, Halloween and Xmas.

Katy C.

Yelp
Before all the Miracle pop up Christmas bars, there was Broadway Bar in Grand Rapids. I can't say for sure but it definitely seems like Broadway Bar has been around forever. They're famous for their Christmas decorations and start taking reservations in March for the holidays! My boyfriend and I called to make a reservation at the beginning of December and were told they only had reservations open for lunch during the week and that all dinner spots were full for the rest of the month. They do allow walk-ins for seats at the bar which is first come, first served. When we arrived at our time the whole bar was open so we decided to just sit there. The entire place was completely covered in decorations - there is a lot to look at and it's really festive. You can tell they really love getting into the spirit which is fun. My favorite was the really cool vintage Happy Holidays sign and the train that goes around the whole bar (look up)! Super fun and kitschy. The food menu is pretty standard dive bar fare, with some higher than normal prices for their signature items that seem correlated to the time of year. We ordered the Broadway burrito and the Broadway burger ($14 each). Our server was Kim and she was great! Very polite and friendly and quick with refills and taking our order. The food didn't take long at all and it was super hot when it came out. The burrito is massive, definitely large enough to share or make into two meals. There was a ton of melty cheese and delicious sauce on the burrito. It's stuffed with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and onion -- no beans, which is my preference anyway. The burger is also really big! They don't use frozen patties, they make their burgers fresh and the Broadway burger has double patties on Texas toast. It was difficult to eat as-is but Kim told us, "there's no right or wrong way to eat a Broadway burger!" So we split it into halves and ate it as an open-faced burger. The toppings on the burger were all fresh and the meat was seasoned nicely. The crinkle fries were also great or you can upgrade to onion rings or tator tots. They have a full bar but no draft beer, just cans/bottles. I'm really happy we got to check out Broadway Bar during the holiday season! I don't think I need to come back every year but it was a fun and unique experience.

Erik R.

Yelp
We decided our work lunch would again take place in the awesome Christmas splendor of this wonderful establishment. As always we were met with cheer and great banter! The service was fast and fantastic (as usual) and the food came fast and delicious piping hot! My Broadway burger was the cure for my mouth watering burger craving, fries hot and crisp as well . Another member of our group had the egg sandwich and was incredibly happy with it. We departed with mini candy canes rounding out the holiday vibe! Props to the staff

Chad H.

Yelp
SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF!! The bartenders are the most friendly, genuine people I've ever met. We live only a few blocks away and will be going way more often! It makes you feel right at home when you're there. Super quaint dive bar and perfect during the holiday season! I probably wouldn't go if you're looking for an upscale meal/cocktail but if you want a super fun place to relax and have a beer, then you will love it here!! Lastly, the burrito is the size of a small child. I'm not kidding when I say it's atleast 5 pounds worth of food!

Michelle H.

Yelp
Best holiday bar EVER! You need to make reservations! NO exceptions. My husband and I decided to take a chance and see if we could sit at bar.... The Santa's we on our side because we got in! Such a fun staff they work their asses off! Strong drinks good bar food. Thank you for a fun filled evening

Andrew J.

Yelp
Well...the good parts: the kitschy Christmas theme during the holidays is very fun ambiance. One of only a few places that really goes all out with decorations. The bad parts and what to to expect: this is an old bar/"dive bar"...don't expect it to be clean, don't expect bathrooms with mints, don't expect them to carry a fancy craft beer or cocktail, don't expect it to the fast service...Just go with that in mind. The burgers that they're "famous" for are good but the prices are high now. Expect to spend quite a but for what you get and again, it's a dive bar so just know that (and you will smell like grease when you leave so be prepared to wash your clothes after because they will smell).

Andrew T.

Yelp
5-stars all day long! Amazing bar, amazing food, amazing vibe, amazing Christmas decorations and most importantly AMAZING staff that will take care of you!!!!

Craig J.

Yelp
Went tonight and it was probably one of the most hostile restaurant/bar events I've ever had. I went to the bar because after 10 minutes of sitting at a table and the bar only being half full...I still hadn't even seen a waitress....then the bartender literally yelled at me, like I was a 10 year old, for trying to buy a drink at the bar and told me to go sit down and wait for a waitress...so I waited another 10 minutes at a table and never saw a waitress on the floor. So when two seats actually opened at the bar, we went and sat down and the bartender came by the seats, cleared the glasses from the people before us, stared me in the face, and walked away. After 10 more minutes of watching the bartender literally do nothing but rinse glasses and ignore customers....we just got up and left It sucks because I think this place looks awesome at Christmas and is totally up my alley...and last time I went I had a great time...but after this experience, I won't be back. I'll go somewhere that actually wants my business Seriously, the place was at 50% capacity, I won't give money to these lazy jerks that feel they can treat people like trash just because they aren't regulars

James F.

Yelp
Was in GR for a Dr appt so went to the Broadway Bar for lunch. Had the Goulash special with corbread and apple crisp. Very good lunch Nice family owned place Lots of decor

Malissa W.

Yelp
Great place with great service! The bartenders are amazing.. no joke! I always feel welcomed here.

Brian K.

Yelp
What a friendly crew! We have been coming here for so many years, the main team is out of town but Kimmie and Goose made sure we had everything we needed. Drinks were great and the burrito was so tasty. Thursday night date night is going to be at Broadway from now on.

Amy M.

Yelp
Made reservations for a Saturday night and when we got there they had seated a couple at our table. One of the people in our group cancelled so there was actually room for them but I bought it was odd considering we had reservations. The people ended up moving mid meal when seats opened at the bar Definitely don't go this time of year if you are in a hurry! It took 40 minutes to even order appetizers and then easily 30 minutes before we got them. Deep fried cauliflower and mozzarella sticks, not even a big order so I was surprised it took so long. Then it took an hour to get the 5 burgers we ordered. Basically we got food about 2 hours after we got there. Our server kept telling us that she had t forgotten us. I'm just glad I wasn't starving! The food was decent , pretty standard bar food and the Christmas decorations are always fun to see!

Kerry F.

Yelp
Sometimes date night means fancy. Lately, (and honestly better) it means dive.bar. The Broadway a long time staple on the NW side (Westside is the bestside) was where we ventured one evening out. Growing up in the South Bend area we felt right at home with all the Notre Dame memorabilia on the walls. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 tall beers (they are HUGE!) and their famous burgers. We also got an order of cauliflower and fried apples to start. The apples and the caramel dip are worth the indulgence. The place is small and we sat at the bar. I would love to come at Christmas and see it in its lit up glory.. Our food was good. The grill is right out in front and the burgers remind me a lot of homemade (in the best way) If you're looking for an unpretentious night out check them out.

Noah G.

Yelp
You're paying for the ambiance and the fact that's it's a popular dive bar. Food is fine, but portions are small and overpriced.

Carla M.

Yelp
Fantastic burgers and burritos and you simply cannot beat the atmosphere!! Get your reservation early if you plan to go during Christmas.

Ruben M.

Yelp
I've been in some bars this year but this one was the better one. My friend had the idea of visiting it but she waited a YEAR because so we can see it with the Christmas decorations, the people working there are so friendly and funny, the burgers they do are why I will go there once again, all ingredients are fresh and you can see how they do it. Definitely a place to feel good any time of the year.

Jay S.

Yelp
We went after hearing all the recommendations about their burger from the other Yelpers and others as well. It is a dive- not in a bad way- in a great way. A neighborhood bar that is really great. Service was great and the burger is really good if not a bit messy. We tried a couple of their appetizers as well and they were great. Definitely a return destination for us.

Margaret B.

Yelp
This is the worst "establishment" I have ever been to in my life. Our waitress Kim was the rudest person I have ever worked with. I have never written a bad review, but I had such an upsetting experience tonight that I felt I needed to. We waited 3 hours for food and when we inquired as to the status of the food, Kim came back defensive, argumentative, and full of excuses. There were only 12 other people in the bar with us as 4 larger groups had all left within the half hour due to poor service and neglect. I will tell anyone and everyone I know never to visit this bar as it is the worst place I have ever been. The management here should be ashamed.

Bailey B.

Yelp
Cute lil dive bar! It has that cozy hometown feel, I love it! Ladies behind the bar were on top of things and seemed to run a tidy ship. Polite and friendly, welcoming with a warm smile. Stopped in for just a drink, but the food cookin smelled delicious! Definitely return next time I'm in town!

Toni G.

Yelp
I had the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich. It was totally awesome. Hot, tasty & plentiful It's Christmas here everyday here and now they have their HUGE Santa on the roof.

Matt J.

Yelp
If your goal is Dive Bar. Broadway bar wins every time. Great service and really good bar food. Yea, the seasonal decorations are crazy and fun, but that's really not the best reason to go here. The best reason is because it's a perfect neighborhood bar, that makes near perfect bar food (like patty melts and olive burgers with a side of Ruffles) with good service. We need more spots like this in the world, and half as many mega breweries.

Michael F.

Yelp
We went on a Monday night, ordered a deluxe olive burger with onion rings, and two appetizers. The food took over an hour and a half also burger had I small tomato also 5 little onion rings.!

Amanda L.

Yelp
Because I so highly recommend this place to my friends during the holidays, a question I'm always asked is what is the food like. In short, the food is good; its comfort bar food. Think burgers, fries, and chicken fingers. But you are here the atmosphere afterall; food is secondary. Also, its a small place and extrmely busy especially on weekends, to the point where they take reservations. I would make a reservation if you want to come on the weekend or if you have a party larger than four people. Other than that, look for the christmas lights and the gigantic snowman on the roof and you are at the right place!

Kate S.

Yelp
All of the Christmas decorations are fantastic! Putting on the glasses to see the lights move is fun. I ordered a burger and it tasted delicious the only issue is it took 30 minutes to make. Given I was with friends so didn't mind too much! The atmosphere is a lot of fun!

Tj S.

Yelp
When you go into a bar at 1045-11 you don't expect they're going to close in 20 minutes. You also expect that if they are going to close at 1130 on a Thursday evening they would let you know. We encountered an older waitress Cindy that was extremely rude and yelling at our group with plenty of time realizing to drink. If they would've told us they would start yelling at us to FINISH OUR DRINKS after ordering them and spending $20 in the jukebox, we would've left and not drank at all. You've lost a customer.

Jimbobinmi ..

Yelp
Love this place! Always a good time staff is the best. Great atmosphere friendly patrons. Best "dive bar" in GR.

Drew M.

Yelp
The absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Our server, Kim, sat us at 6:30pm and we didn't receive food menus until 7:00pm. We received rude comments the entire time and watched as 4 tables decided to cancel their order and leave because of terrible service. We didn't receive our food until 9:00pm, which was frozen food re-heated. Our server decided to stop checking on us and held a grudge towards anyone who asked why the food was taking longer than usual. I almost always give servers the benefit of the doubt but this was completely unacceptable.

Shane C.

Yelp
Don't be offended when I type, "Dive Bar". This place is the epitome of the term. That is NOT a negative description at all. Please hear me on that. Lately, my wife and I love to visit these types of establishments in the greater Grand Rapids area. We love local spaces and folk. We live bar food. We love crazy characters. Heck, love watching karaoke. So, when it was our anniversary (yes, it was) we were bored with our default places. We checked this trusty app and stumbled on The Broadway Bar. Now, our GPS took us to a building that looked like someone's house. That did not discourage us. No, it only added to our already curious minds. We entered what I could only believe in my heart that we walked into a true local neighborhood bar. We sat at the counter and were created with a hospitable "welcome". The bartender was funny and witty. We ordered up an olive burger and the cook began to grill up our food (3 feet in front of us) cooked to order. I gotta tell you that the banter between the cook, bartender, and regulars was sooooo funny and we loved every minute of our time there. The food was delicious. The price was right. The conversation was engaging. The experience was extraordinaire. We will be back. Thank You Broadway!

Becky C.

Yelp
What a fun place!! It was still decorated for Christmas and they seriously go ALL OUT!! I drank Miller Lite for the bottle, ate the delicious Broadway Burger (which was HUGE and cooked perfectly!) and enjoyed the lunch time atmosphere. Two sitting next to me at the bar had a yummy looking burrito which will be what I'm ordering next time we go.

Kate A.

Yelp
Try the Broadway Burger!! It's one of the best burgers I have had in quite some time!! The atmosphere is great too!! It reminds me of Cheers, where everyone knows your name and if they don't they will get to know you before you leave! They also seem to go all out with the holiday decorations. I thought I was in Ireland when I was there in March! Great time!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I visited Broadway Bar this past Saturday with my friend who was in from out of town. I had heard the Christmas decorations are extensive, so I thought it'd be fun to check out for a drink after seeing The Nutcracker. Well, first impression was that it was dirty, but I knew it was a dive bar, so it's to be expected somewhat. It was very busy, which I expected on a Saturday night. There wasn't a table available, so we went to the bar to get a drink. While waiting, the waitresses began yelling at patrons to sit at a table or get out. I couldn't believe how rude the staff was being to people who were standing. I understand it's frustrating waiting tables when people are in the way - I've served for 10 years, but it's 10:30pm on a Saturday at a bar. Kind of par for the course. Anyways, the final straw was when a waitress said "Get out of the way. We have shit to do!" Good riddance. I definitely will not be back.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Broadway bar is a tough place to review because it's a super fun bar with absolutely pitiful service. It's a small, cozy bar that's a hoot around the holidays because the place is completely decked out with Christmas decorations. Drinks are cheap and the food is surprisingly good, but each time we've been there the waitresses have been extremely rude and occasionally drunk. That being being said it's always a good time (especially if you go for the Shot-Ski) but don't expect friendly service.

John B.

Yelp
First, my burger was VERY GOOD. This is a classic, old, neighborhood bar. No offstreet parking but lots of curbside spots available. It is old and even smells kinda funny but I guess that adds character. Capacity is about 50 and adding to the "character" is the holiday decor that appears it was added by Martha Stewart on crack. The toy singing "grandma got run over by a reindeer" was OK the first 12 times then it got annoying. I had a draught domestic that tasted like it was going skunk or the lines needed attention. In all I WILL go back when I'm looking for a good burger, bottle beer and I'll bring ear plugs.

David M.

Yelp
1996....that's how long I have lived here. I have never heard of The Broadway Bar. Yesterday I overheard a conversation regarding this place and I decided to go. You need to know I love "joints". You cant build a "joint"...it can only happen over time. This place is the real deal. To begin with, this is a family owned and run business. The big deal is the Broadway Burger which is about a pound of food dressed as you wish. The food is great...as a matter of fact, last night in honor of Polish Days they featured the best cheese and potato pirogies I have EVER had. When we left we got hugged by Cynthia the waitress! Just a matter of fact thank you for coming. We were officially now part of the Broadway family. It is a fabulous place where Halloween is the featured decor at the moment. Like pulled pork? They smoke it out back and only serve it from time to time. Last week they featured smoked chicken. You hear the expression "homemade" all the time. This is the definition of home made. If you like great burgers, and by the way the rest of the menu was just as tempting...and you love a great joint, this is by far the best I have found. If you want fancy don't go....if you want real and authentic history and love and food and ambiance....go there tonight. BTW it is very small...you may have to wait...trust me....you will be glad you did. Hope you get a hug too!

Sean M.

Yelp
The interior is like a TGI Friday's gone divey bad-ass! Do yourself a big favor and check this joint out around Halloween or the Christmas holidays. Trust me it's a riot! The trip to the bar can be painful, literally. Lots of people squeezing, poking, stroking, etc just to get their spot in front of the bartenders. Westsiders are naturally thirsty and need beer. I chose to order two drinks at a time to avoid multiple trips, me smart like that. Thankfully, there's a little more space away from the bar to socialize and drink. I enjoyed sitting in the back against the nautical themed wall - it was a perfect place to watch some crazy drunks up front and the wacky old crowd root for their beloved Fighting Irish. Oh yeah, it's a Notre Dame bar. The drinks are strong and affordable. I always pop in here and there. it's a great place to drink away your worries. And in today's world, that's not a bad thing.

G M.

Yelp
Rudest service ever, we will never go back.. We got yelled at the second we walked in for walking toward the bar, we didn't know the rules and that we needed to find a seat as this was our first time there. We however obliged and made friends with a very kind group of people and ordered drinks.. after 30 min of not receiving our order I approached the waitress and inquired on the the status. She replied by stating that she would not be serving us because we were rude to her. I was appalled.. as our only interaction had been to inquire on the status of our order 15 min prior to that. I went back to my table and told my husband her response and noted that it is best that we leave. Others at our table were also not thrilled with our terrible experience as they all witnessed this absurd behavior.. where they got up and left as well. I never leave reviews however I feel inclined to do so this morning as our evening was absolutely ruined by the waitstaff last night.. it's the holidays and I had been looking forward to visiting this establishment for years.. what a terrible way to end a wonderful evening. Shame on the management for allowing such terrible treatment of new patrons..
