"If you take your coffee local, Broadway Cafe should be on the top of your list. The baristas are friendly, the small cafe is cozy & the coffee is great. The floor-to-ceiling windows brighten up the space & make for a perfect place to meet up with friends or dive into a book. On a nice day, many customers prefer to lounge out front & enjoy the sun with their drinks." - Cat Coquillette

Google
Solid coffee shop! Gets the 5 stars because I have no complaints. Good coffee and chill atmosphere. On par with the average KC coffee shop experience which is typically elite.

We were in Kansas City for a Chiefs game, and this place was around the corner from where we were staying. We went the first morning and the last night we were there. The guy working there remembered us and even wished us safe travels on out way back. That goes to show the level of customer service at this place! On top of that, the coffee was great!

I am so happy we decided to stop here. I got a tall Irish cream latte, and it was one of the best lattes I've had in years. It wasn't overly bitter or too sweet. It had the perfect foam ratio. And the latte art was beautiful of course! Their go-to roast was just really tasty!! I also had a coffee cake, which was so moist and flavorful. I should have ordered some to go, it was soooo good. Loved seeing the local art and flyer wall. Local spots like this really enrich a community.

Broadway Cafe is one of my favorite coffee shops in KC! Their coffee is amazing with great prices! The staff is always friendly and welcoming when I come. The cafe is a great place to do some work or meet up with friends!

Google
Hi Café latte was perfect. perfect balance, perfect temperature, just the right amount of sweetness as I asked for a splash of simple syrup. The team behind the counter was so friendly and welcoming. The overall vibe was chill. I recommend anyone that enjoys coffee check it out.

Google
I love this place. The coffee is always so good. The selection of syrups always surprises me with something new! This time it was “Cayenne Syrup” - I was not brave a ohhh to try it but I’m sure they make something so yummy with it! Staff is friendly and works very fast. The vibe is very cute inside as well. Would absolutely recommend giving them a try!

Me and my bestie love going here. The whole place and atmosphere is so cozy. Coffee is great and affordable too.

Google
If anyone asks me the best place to get a good coffee in KC, I’m sending them here. Not only the best coffee, but reasonable prices and the kindest baristas.

Yelp
Probably the best chai latte I've ever had! I tend to like my chai on the spicier side and found that most coffee shops often make it too sweet. But here, you can taste the spice right at the first sip. It's also nice how late this coffee shop stays open. It's great for fitting in a work day later in the evening. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This little coffee shop, though modest in size, was quite the experience. Their latte game is top-notch, offering a variety of creative and delicious flavors. While seating is limited and parking can be a bit tricky (street), the quality of their coffee and the cozy atmosphere make it well worth the effort. While the staff at Broadway Cafe was friendly and helpful, the bakery goods were a bit of a mixed bag. The scone, unfortunately, was quite dry and hard. However, the vegan pumpkin cake was surprisingly good. Despite the less-than-stellar scone, the positive staff interaction and tasty vegan cake make it worth considering for future visits, perhaps focusing on their other menu options. If you're a coffee enthusiast seeking a unique and authentic coffee experience, this hidden gem is definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Broadway Cafe is a classic hip coffee spot. It's a little dated on the inside but it has plenty of character. They have plenty of pastries and all of your classic coffee options. Service was great and seemed like a very popular spot among the locals to hang out and grab coffee. Definitely a spot I'm going to put into my rotation for coffee.

Yelp
This is a beautiful coffee shop. There's ample parking outside and street parking in case it gets too busy. Their coffee is perfectly roasted and the amount of syrup didn't make my latte too sweet! The barista helped us right when we came in and quickly made our drinks. Overall, it's a great place to get some work done with added coffee and pastry selections.

Yelp
Great service, great coffee, and was a decent price for a latte. Cute interior to hang out in too.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop with great coffee! I got an iced sugar free caramel latte and it was delicious. The inside of this café is super cute and the barista were awesome :) definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came here for my morning coffee and it was the best coffee I had all trip. Nice building in a nice area. Service was friendly, they had a different ordering system. Had sugar free syrups available. My sugar free vanilla latte was delicious.

Yelp
Nice space to sit and work. Ordered a cappuccino and it was acceptable but not memorable. Very nice baristas and am glad I stopped in.

Yelp
Broadway Cafe is one of the original hip cafes in KC. I'm not sure how long it's been open but I remember visiting here when I was in my early twenties and it had that vibe of early hipster coffee shops from the early aughts/ late 90s. I'm so happy to report that it feels the exact same way it felt back when I first came here in probably 2010. I popped in recently as I had a few meetings in the neighborhood and thought this would make a great stop for an americano while getting some afternoon work done in between appointments. For me, it was nostalgia overload as I was transported back to a more carefree time in my life. It still has a lot of eclectic furnishings, and maintains a certain je ne sais quoi to the space that sets it apart from the uber modern, black and white, coffee bars that seem to dominate coffee shops these days. The coffee was about what I was expecting, I didn't venture outside of a pretty basic drink so hard to know if their take on specialty drinks is remarkable, but if you're looking for a solid cup of joe this is a great place to snag one. The service was friendly, the wifi fast, and it was surprisingly full on a random workday afternoon. Overall, I'll be back when I next find myself in Westport and in need of a reliable place to get some work done.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and our go-to Cafe in the area. Their beans are always consistent and perfect so we buy the beans quite often. The lattes here are super smooth. They do coffee well and they don't have to make their shop all fancy because it's just that good.

Zeeshan K.

Yelp
Great place to study. It's one of the few coffee shops that closes later in the evening.

Yelp
This coffee shop is located in the Westport area of Kansas City and is within walking distance of several local shops, tasty restaurants, and fun bars. The Broadway Café is another spacious spot in Kansas City to work remote because there is plenty of seating. There are even a few tables outside of the coffeeshop to sit at on a warm, sunny day. Although they don't offer a full breakfast menu, there are some pastry items and yogurt parfaits. The place was clean and the staff was friendly!
google avatar

Lexi G.

Yelp
I was skeptical to try the coffee at first because it specially says they make it with RISTRETTO, not espresso. But wow was I amazed. I ordered an iced white mocha with oat milk, and these days, it's hard to get a good coffee with a perfect balance in flavor from Shots to sweetness to milk, but that was a REALLY good coffee!! ALSO- the door handle was so cool!!!!! I sent pictures to my mom and sisters because we all used to work in coffee shops. Loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're ever in the Westport area, you have to check out this super cute coffee shop! We stopped in here on our way to a thrift store the area. We each got a drink and treat - both were super tasty! I couldn't decide between two flavors for my latte and the sever suggested using both. Genius idea, probably one of the tastiest lattes I've had in awhile. The shop itself it pretty small with limited seating but they do have an outside sitting area. Happy we stopped in so I have an official coffee shop every time I'm going to the Westport area!

Yelp
Such good coffee and treats. Went in for an iced latte, lemon bar and brown butter rice Krispy treat. Sooo good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and need a pick me up coffee and treat.

Yelp
I've been to Broadway Café several times since I relocated to KC about six months ago. I love the atmosphere, and I especially love the outdoor seating. Very chill vibe. I'm also impressed with the quality of the products, the exceptional service, and immaculate cleanliness of the establishment. All this to say: try everything. I didn't. Not yet anyway. I'm just extrapolating off the menu items I have tried. I highly recommend the coffee cake. Seriously, that is the best fuckin coffee cake I have ever had in my entire life. Eating it was like being in a one-man food-fight with myself. It was like being Bruce Bogtrotter but in the best way possible. Not sure what the topping is on the coffee cake, but Jesus Christ it's amazing. Insert chef's kiss here. I could literally eat that topping by the fistful. I also enjoy the specialty beverages -- particularly the café mocha. I really super duper appreciate the staff giving me the toddler version of a highly caffeinated chocolate milk. I finally remembered to take a picture. Those chocolate chip cookies bring out my inner cookie monster. Thin. Chewy. Buttery. Slightly salty. All things I hope and pray for in every single chocolate chip cookie that I encounter. If you're on a diet, then get two slices of the coffee cake -- one to enjoy now, and one to chip away at as the guilt of sabotaging all your hard weight-loss work rears its ugly head: yeah, it's that kind of pastry. Not calorie free, but not flavor free either. A win-win in my book. Live fast; die young. Try the coffee cake!! It is the way, the truth, and the light. If Frankl had tried this coffee cake, he'd never have had to embark on such a protracted search for meaning. I could be high tho. Yeah. Could be. Naw, that coffee cake is next level transcendental.

Dani B.

Yelp
The service is terrible, they were so rude and talked to a customer like they were stupid. The coffee? terrible, they don't even have almond milk.

Yelp
BEST CHAI LATTE!!! Oh my goodness the flavors in this thing. So multi-layered. I'll drink a chai latte anywhere, but Broadway Cafe's is really special. Love the ambiance of this place- very chill and relaxed. Staff members are always so nice. They really take pride in their products and are honest about what they recommend and don't. Love it.

Yelp
A friend & I came to Broadway Café because we both heard from our own friends that Broadway has the best coffee. In, our apparent mistake in ordering chai tea lattes instead of coffee. I was not pleased at all. My drink had too much milk, not enough chai-- I could barely taste the flavor. You can tell it's not the creamy beige color you'd desire for a chai by my picture. After a four-mile walk at peak temperatures during the day, I really wanted something more refreshing. This place wasn't a complete waste because my soft biscotti cookie was bangin'. I could have eaten 15 of those (not really, but I'd be happy to try)! The employees also seemed friendly and eager to place our orders. There's plenty of seating indoors, though it felt slightly dark. No worries, there are a couple of tables outside too. There are so many coffee shops in KC, I'm not sure that I'll be back at Broadway.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. I came here years ago as it's one of the few "lgbt cafes" in KC. Yes, I know there are others that are lgbt friendly, but I wanted something in the heart of the scene. The vibe on Sunday afternoon was quiet. No line and lots of empty tables. The menu has classic coffee house favorites. I'd love to see a couple rotating coffee drinks. The cafe feels like it's lost atmosphere since I was in last. Tables all seat 4 (I think). I'd love to see more smaller tables or a community table. Staff is friendly and they have their own parking lot. But I think others park in the lot or it's not monitored. The parking lot was full, yet only two people were inside besides myself.

Yelp
Coffee: **** Customer Service: **** Ambiance: ** Diversity:** Pastries: **** Let's start by saying the coffee and pastries were great. We ordered cappuccino and a lemon bar with a Gougère and a sugar cookie. The pastries were great but the cookie was just ok. The place was busy but the line went quick and the customer service was great. The coffee had that extra artistic touch which we loved. The building was cold and the building needs some uplift as it reminded of an old diner that hasn't been updated but tables were clean. There was a bunch of natural light though which was refreshing.

Yelp
High quality, coffee, espresso, and coffee beans served in prepared here. Convenient location between downtown and the plaza. My coworker and I popped in for a quick macchiato (that's two shots of espresso with just a dollop of steamed milk, not the monstrosity from Starbucks) and enjoyed the delicious drink. I also bought some beans and look forward to enjoying those over the next week or so.

Yelp
OMG!!! Amazing atmosphere!!! Amazing service. And overall the Vanilla Latte and Vegan Pumpkin bread, Amazing!!! If I could afford to visit daily I would. Thank you.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been here. I recall first coming here over twenty years ago, back before Starbucks made coffee shops the thing. Anyhow, their mochas here still don't disappoint. I stopped by here this last Monday, and enjoyed another mocha because it had been a while. It was not sweet and I noticed the espresso shots in it, with a careful hint of chocolate, very good. The only downside to this place is that the interior hasn't changed. In a way, it is part of its appeal, but in a way it's a setback for those who wish to sit with their laptops and work, not too many outlets and not the most comfortable sitting.

Yelp
The best spot in the heart of Westport is to grab a cup of Joe, tea, or pastry. Great vibe and even better service. I was welcomed with a smile and a prompt delivery of my chosen beverage. If you need to work, study or read a book, there are plenty of spots to focus on your craft. Chai latte on ice with a shot of expresso for the win!
google avatar

Yelp
Adorable place with good prices for drinks! I always get a hot chocolate, and it's perfect for the colder months. I also love the italian soda with cream!

Yelp
I cannot believe in the many years I have lived in KC, and all the coffee shops I have been to, this was my first trip to Broadway Cafe. I think I was always intimidated by the lack of parking. BUT PEOPLE, I was wrong. There's a whole dang parking lot for this place lol. Oops. Great space, bigger than one would think. Plenty of seats and plug ins. Love the big windows. Great list of drinks and options! I got a hazelnut latter and it was as good as they normally are. I'll be adding this to my list of coffee shops to get work done at.

Yelp
Espresso had great flavor. $4.50 for a latte. Quick and friendly service. Had adequate seating on a Saturday morning. Open atmosphere and seemed to be a mix of people working quietly and joining with friends.

Yelp
In our quest to continue our coffee dates throughout KC, Broadway Cafe's coffee has made such a memorable and high mark! Overall Experience: Broadway Cafe has a great relaxed ambiance with people coming for to-go orders, enjoying their morning or working on laptops at their numerous tables inside the location. The staff were very kind and definitely worked well together during the busy rush. We didn't realize how spacious it was inside and thought they had a good amount of seating outside. The best part was sitting outside underneath the black and white striped awning and people watching while we sipped our perfect cappuccinos. Coffee: Ordered a Dry Cappuccino and it was fantastic! The coffee is one of our favorites we've had so far and the person that made them really made them well! They were hot, flavorful and as we ordered them dry style; had the perfect espresso coffee to steam milk ratio. Pastries: Our favorite was the apple cinnamon muffin! The cinnamon sugar was very tasty and the apple flavor was light! It stood out with its great crumble on the outside and warm cinnamon apple flavoring on the inside of the muffin. We wished we got two! The scone was a classic coffee scone to use; not as flavorful but great when immediately sipped with coffee. The biscotti is so different then what we typically have as a biscotti and it was fun for a sweet sugar rush with the vanilla cream on top!

Yelp
Great service and exceptional coffee! Unfortunately I live out of state but if I come back to Kansas City, I'm coming back here

Yelp
Very cute spot. Comfy. Deserts and pastries are good. It is a great place to do work as well.

Yelp
After realizing several really great coffee shops in KC roast their beans with Broadway Café/Roasting Company, I knew this was 'my' coffee shop. Beyond that, I got my dad a pound of beans from here in his Father's Day gift and converted him to keeping their coffee on hand - he was a D*nkin man of 30 years, big change. When I come here, it's not only for fresh beans, but I get a latte as a treat usually, too. I'm not the best at explaining coffee notes and complexities, just know that in my humble opinion, this is the best latte outside of the downtown area. This place is worth the stop every time.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
A KC staple, and hope it remains that way. They always have well trained baristas who know how to perfectly texture milk and dial in their espresso. Great for people watching all walks of life in Westport. Only note is I wish they had more dedicated allergen gluten free/celiac offerings.
google avatar

Kayley K.

Yelp
Major "Portlandia" vibes- super grungy and some of the most unique people in KC end up hanging out there. The neighborhood feel is so cute and intimate. The owner is a very rude, pretentious coffee dude, but it's worth it because it's the best coffee and chai tea in all of Kansas City. Their pastries are pretty good too!
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
I've always been very happy with my lattes here and yesterday was not an exception. When you notice that a place is always busy year after year it's a sign that they must be doing it right. In my opinion, they are because of their consistency. Throughout the years every time I get a drink from here, I always wonder why I'm not here everyday. If it is not so dar from where I live, I would definitely frequent this place more. I got a large caramel latte when I was there yesterday. It was smooth and creamy. I was one of the best lattes I've had in awhile. That gave me an extra boost to continue my busy day. It was a shame that I was not able to find a seat though, which was expected because they are always busy. I will definitely be back there the next time I'm near there. I highly recommend Broadway to bringing guests from from out of town here.

Yelp
Caffeine Queen Broadway Cafe I'm not yet sure if it's the nostalgia of skipping school, smoking cigarettes and drinking black drip coffee or if it's the way Boradway Cafe is a no-nonsense caffeine emporium that offers coffee, tea, and a variety of vegan and vegetarian food options both sweet and savory. Whichever (or both) make Broadway Cafe a top local coffee shop located conveniently just on the cusp of westport on you guessed it Boradway Street. The last time I zipped into Broadway Cafe after some last minute shopping at world market for Turkey Day it was near closing hours so I opted for a caffeine free hot tea, there were surprisingly three to choose from. I went with the African Roobis considering chamomile is never top of my list. While a friendly barista was fetching my tea I felt my stomach rumbling and had to pick up a vegetarian sandwich that caught my eye in the refrigerated case however the vegan pumpkin bread is also an excellent seasonally appropriate choice. This sandwich though meat free was packed full of flavor, texture, and spice. The wheatberry bread was sort of soft and got soggy but it didn't bother me, it survived a drive back home just fine. The pepper jack cheese and jalapenos added a good level of heat and the fresh veggies, red bell peppers and red onions added crunch. I was not disappointed at all in this coffehouse sandwich and would definitely get it again as well as try another one they carry.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Broadway cafe. I got a hot chocolate on a very cold day, it was delicious. The inside was very nice and pretty. The staff was super friendly and helpful in helping me find my purse when I lost it. Nice place!

Yelp
They're killing it. We stayed in the area for a weekend and came here for coffee both mornings. For COVID, they're ordering at the door. Their outdoor wait line has menus and space heaters. Didn't mind waiting. The caramel latte and americano I had were incredible. I think I may have said "best caramel latte ever". Prices were fair and sizes were good. What a great place in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
It's a great coffee shop and friendly Barista's. Yes, the parking lot is small , but it's worth it.
google avatar

Dwynn E.

Yelp
The reality is, I've been to @broadwayroasting Co. & Cafe 3x over the past 5 days (and I'm not ashamed). Broadway Cafe offers everything from cappuccino's and cafe au lait to tea and hot chocolate. I recommend pairing your drink with their vegan pumpkin bread because it's just all things amazing. In response to COVID, there's currently no in door dining however it's the perfect grab'n'go option for a mid day pick me up. So #WhileUAreHere, stop by Broadway Cafe for some sweet treats and stocking stuffers your coffee lovers will enjoy. Don't forget the #Vegan #PumpkinBread!
google avatar

Trish K.

Yelp
Stopped by Broadway Cafe after a run for takeout coffee. Prices were fair. My latte was creamy and sweet. It was a Sunday morning and our drinks were ready quickly and a lot of people were enjoying relaxing drinks in the cafe. A nice place in Westport to sit and spend some time or grab drinks to go.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
Based on the magical vanilla breve latte made for me, I must admit I would give a 10 star review if possible. Great guys, ready to explain every coffeee bag they sell.

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Excellent location, good ambiance, and ample parking raise the bar of expectation. The service was lacking as the staff expended little energy checking on guests; those on at the time of my visit were a bit rude. The coffee was ok; however, for the amount you receive, it is overpriced. The gougeres are prohibitively expensive and are over salted. Overall, a nice place to visit for conversation; not so much the place for food, service, or value for money.
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
I've never been here and there wasn't a line out the door... and once you've tried their coffee, you see why. As a first time mom with a young child, I consider myself a professional coffee drinker. Now I used to say that Broadway Cafe was my favorite coffee in the city. I've been coming here for many years, although not often as I'd like since I don't live nearby. But even now, every time I brave the drive, hunt for a parking spot (there's only a tiny little lot so it is a challenge sometimes to park), walk up, stand in line and wait for my drink (they are coffee craftspeople so it isn't the fastest)... I am reaffirmed that yes, this is the best coffee in Kansas City. And I will hunt, walk and wait every chance I get for a cup of their magic bean juice.
google avatar

Ilene H.

Yelp
If you just want coffee, I liked this place. The staff was pleasant and my cafe mocha was honestly the best I had. I didn't see much offerings in the bakery or snack department. Most people love something to go with their coffee. I did get a sandwich that had bell pepper, red onions, a pimento spread and cheese; Really good. I would return.

MiaMe ..

Yelp
I always enjoy trying new coffee shops. I ordered the hazel nut latte and a coffee cake. It came out to $8. I love the ambiance and upbeat music. Although the music was great, it was not too disturbing. I did not know they had a secure Wi-Fi, so I wasn't sure where to get the password. Other than that, I definitely recommend. Staff have a cool atmosphere as well!
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
RECOMMEND! Well, you know you like an experience, when you go back and order the same thing the next day -- and for me, if you take a picture of it! So, looks like two of the same pictures, but, from two days in a row. When you are in town on bidness you never know what your gonna get when you go out that hotel door. For me, first time in KC, so I had no expectations beyond what I read on YELP. Short walk from the AC Hotel (which I also recommend) and a Kansas nice space with an inviting storefront that pulls you in. Lots of choice from the espresso drinks, they roast the beans up the street, and the bake goods were tidy. For me, again, usually it's 'I'll just take the scone'... because I try to behave and be heart healthy, but, there were other choices that tempted. RECOMMEND!

Yelp
2nd time here not bad I will be back for sure Nice place to just hang out first time here was last time i was in town

Yelp
A must if you are in the Westport area! I wanted to get some studying in before the end of the night, and there weren't too many options near me since so many places close so early here. I stopped in on a hot summer day and the guy at the front just said 'What are we feeling today?' I asked for an Iced London Fog and I feel like those are so hard to make - everybody always waters them down so much because tea is made with water and then you are adding ice to it which is just going to melt! When I said it was a little too watered down for me, he added more syrup (which fixed the drink) , and he even said that he would make me another drink if I was still unsatisfied with this one. On top of that, there are plenty outlets in this place, they have their own parking lot, and the Iced London Fog was $3!! It was such a convenient place to stop, and I felt so happy to be in that environment and give them money for this drink.
