Google
Not sure how this place is rated so highly. I ordered takeout from here for lunch. I got the Mongolian beef and popcorn chicken, which are a couple of my go-to’s for something quick. The Mongolian beef was the worst I've ever had. It tasted like low quality americanized Chinese mall food with its thick, sticky, sweet sauce. Mongolian beef should taste smokey and savoury, but this was anything but. The popcorn chicken was bland. They must have forgotten to season it, or perhaps similar to the Mongolian beef dish, they cater to an americanized palate.

Love this place have loved all the food I have ordered from them. It comes hot and fresh every single time.

Google
We've come here before and don't recall the prices being that high. The XLB we had last time was really good, thin skin and flavorful soup/meat. We didn't order it this time. The pan fried buns are our personal fav because it is also soupy inside. The string beans is our second fav. The fried tofu is lacking in flavor compared to the other dishes. The pigs ear appetizer was good but definitely on the oily side. We ordered four items and the total came to ~$70 including tips. A little expensive but decent food!

Google
Delicious Taiwanese food! The crab soup dumpling is very fresh and the wrapper is nice and thin. The deep fried chicken was also so good and reminded me of Taiwan. The broccoli was disappointing because it wasn’t what I was expecting though.

Google
We went for dinner. It was not very crowded so service was very prompt. The food was good. I didn't have any expectations so I didn't go in thinking it was going to be great. XLB dumplings, the har gow shrimp dumplings and the fried rice was good. The pan fried dumplings (see my photo) were really good and super juicy. Also might be the prettiest dumplings I've seen.

Must orders are the Tom Yum soup dumplings, Shrimp soup dumplings, beef roll and DanDan noodles

Google
Saw this on Yelp and wanted to give it a try. Food looks good. Ordered house chow mein, house xlb, house pan fried xlb, popcorn chicken, chicken and mushroom dumplings, and beef roll. My mom and sister thought the food was to salty. I thought it was ok. Popcorn chicken was the only thing that I thought was to salty. The pan fried xlb took forever we finished all our food then still waited about 10 mins before that came out. Pan fried xlb actually still had soup inside not like other places I've been too. Skin for the xlb isn't to thin and didn't rip so soup would spill out. Overall I thought food was ok, might be salty if your sensitive to salt.

Google
This place was absolutely lovely in the atmosphere & service. The XLB is amazing with actually a very decent amount of soup in each bite. I will definitely come here again just for them! Everything else was just okay, but the delay XLB for sure us the best.

Yelp
Good food, it's made so you could add condiments like garlic oil , vinegar etc. lot of choices. The Xialong bao was very delicious. Kyle the server was so nice and pleasant. He explained to me how to choose and pick the right dishes. The place was modern and very clean. I recommend that you give them a try. You'll be glad you did .

Yelp
No frills, flavorful Chinese food - our favorites are the beef roll and shrimp & chive boiled dumplings! Been here a few times and we always get the beef roll; tender beef and lettuce with a hoisin sauce inside a scallion pancake-esque wrap. It's salty, slightly sweet, and has textures. We've tried their soup dumplings, pan fried, and boiled dumplings, while all are good, my personal favorite is the shrimp/pork/chive dumplings. It's so flavorful and clean tasting, feels very homemade.

Yelp
The dumplings here are solid and I'd come back only for the pan-fried pork bao, which is one of the best I've had. [Pan Fried Pork Bao]: Pork was soft and not gamey. Everything was perfect from the soup to the crispy bottom and chewy delicate top [Pork XLB]: Solid XLB with soft meat and delicious soup, covered by a thin skin. [Braised Beef Brisket Noodle]: This was our least favorite item because of the chewy beef pieces that you couldn't even chew through. Some pieces were soft and tender, but others were worse than jerky. The soup was thick with an odd smokey flavor and overcooked noodles. I'd stick to the dumplings only here. We felt very thirsty after the food and I felt odd after the beef brisket noodle. Service was alright.

Yelp
One of my new favorite dumpling spots in SF. Having moved to the west side of the city, I was looking for new dumpling spots for my dumpling fix and a friend who lived near Stonestown took me to try mom's dumpling and boy did it meet my expectations. They had the soup dumplings as well as the pan fried soup dumplings. Both were super juicy and the flavor was comparable to some of the more popular spots in SF for soup dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were also juicy and not too big, which made it easy and delicious to eat. The spicy pig ear here was also very delicious and had some peppercorns in it which gave it a kick. The place was not too packed the few times I have been here. The workers were nice and seated us quick as well. Having no wait was definitely a plus and the restaurant was relatively spacious as well. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a new dumpling place with great taste!

Yelp
Randomly found it when looking for restaurants around the Stonestown area and been back as well as ordered from them multiple times ever since. Most recently, I went around lunch time on a Saturday and got seated immediately. The restaurant is pretty simple and clean, not too loud either so nice for a chill lunch. I love the tiny spoon they have so you can perfectly hold their dumplings and everything is pretty well priced. Fresh Cucumber with Garlic Sauce - Very fresh vegetable dish. It's a nice contrast with the other heavier dishes and the garlic sauce is salty and sour. Special House Pork Xiao Long Bao - A classic and a dish we always have to get there. The dumpling dough is made so well, super thin but doesn't break easily and holds everything. It tastes like a standard xiao long bao, meaty, has a rich broth and is so good when dipped in vinegar. Beef Rolls - A new favorite! It has thin sliced braised beef, lettuce and hoisin sauce all wrapped up in a crispy scallion pancake. The sauce adds most of the tangy and sweet flavor which works well with the salty pancake and ingredients wrapped inside. Green Onion Pancake - Crispy and very thick. Also a nice classic dish we like to order sometimes when we want something more simple and filling. Special House Pan Fried Pork Bao - Another favorite! The bao itself is crispy and has a bite to it with the inside being soft and holds the soup / pork really nicely, similar to their xiao long bao. Best to eat steaming hot and be careful of the soup spilling out when you bite into it. Pork Dumpling in Chili Oil - Very flavorful and is the perfect amount of spice. It is savory and perfect when you're craving a spicier dish. One of my favorite places to get dumplings and other chinese dishes!

Yelp
This is a pretty good Chinese food place at a decent price point! I came here for a team lunch and everything we ordered came out promptly and tasted good. We ordered lots of vegetarian food since we have quite a few vegetarians on the team. Beef pancake roll - 9/10 - good crunchy pancake outside, the meat was tasty but I felt like it was lacking in sauce just slightly Green onion pancake - 10/10 - this was pretty spot on, tasted yummy and came out very crunchy and warm Veggie pan fried dumplings - 8/10 - it was lacking greens inside, there were lots of mushrooms though but still tasty String green beans - 10/10 - so yummy!! I thought these were perfect Veggie fried rice - 9/10 - good taste, a variety of veggies in it, perfectly salted Mapo tofu - 9/10 - this was good, it was quite spicy actually, the only thing missing is meat but that is a personally preference in this dish for me Overall mom dumpling's food is very tasty! I thought the dishes were just a little small for sharing with a big group so you will need to order a lot of dishes for a large sized group.

Yelp
We stopped in during off hours around 4pm so we had the place to ourselves. Parking was easy as it shares a free lot with other establishments. You can watch them make the dumplings which is cool! I feel like it's such an art. They make it look easy! My baby had fun watching them too lol. The har gow was so yummy! The skin was perfect, no hard parts. The house special pan friend pork bao was also good! This is always my favorite thing to order at dumpling restaurants. I like it better at Special Noodle, but this one is still great! The beef roll was new to me. I thought it was pretty good! It surprised me that it was sweet. Oyster sauce maybe?

Yelp
I've been here a few times already and they haven't disappointed me yet. It's located in the strip mall near SF State so there's parking in that mall. What i don't like about this place, is that they charge for tea. Usually, these places don't charge for tea and it wasn't even the best tea, this is why i marked them a star down. Their stir fried noodles with was really good. It wasn't too oily and they were generous with the portions. The popcorn chicken had basil which i liked, i actually thought this dish was good but my friend who is Taiwanese didn't like it. I think there's needs to be some consistency in this dish as that are times it's been dry and times the chicken was moist. The jijiang mein was odd, i didn't quite like how it was. you had the meat in the middle in carrots, cucumber, sprouts and eggs on surrounding it. It didn't taste as authentic as other places. The winning dish for me was the fried salt and pepper tofu. It has a little spice to it so watch out for those pepper seeds. However, they perfecty fried it where it was lightly battered. I don't mind coming back here everyday for this dish. They are the same owners as the dumpling zone near Laguna Honda but the menu is slightly different.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this spot but there is too much salt! Ordered spicy pig ear, beef brisket noodles, shrimp/pork/chive dumplings. Everything too salty! The dessert Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Osmanthus and Rice Wine was THE best item. Not sweet, not salty, very delicate and the rice balls had black sesame inside! While we were there, the dumpling wrapper master was also there! Great to see his craft from our table.

Yelp
We came here wanting to try out a new dumpling spot since we saw they had spicy XLBs and shrimp sheng jian baos. Excitedly we ordered spicy XLBs, spicy wontons, pork and shrimp sheng jian bao, green beans, chongqing spicy chicken and the mushroom and pork steamed dumplings. The highlight of our meal had to be the mushroom and pork steamed dumplings. They came packed with filling and the mushroom flavor made for a fragrant bite. We did note that thief vinegar didn't seem as flavorful as other places but still did the trick nonetheless. Another standout dish was the chongqing chicken, it was spicy, tangy and would be a great over rice dish as it was a tad bit on the salty side. For docking a star the spicy wontons arrived at our table undercooked. Unfortunately we found out after placing them into our mouth and noticing that the filling was completely raw and pink. We alerted the staff who apologized and replace our dish. However we spent the rest of the meal uneasy carefully checking if the rest of our food was fully cooked.

Yelp
Three stars because the taste-to-dollar ratio isn't that great. The prices are steeper than other comparable dumpling spots in town, yet their food wasn't mind blowingly delicious. My pick is definitely Dumpling Kitchen on Taravel. Food: Average tasting dumplings, bland noodles, and everything was overall too oily. The best dish was the spicy xiao long baos because they had a good flavor. The restaurant is a small place with limited seating and there was only one waitress. I do appreciate that everything is handmade and can seen through the glass though!

Yelp
Came here with my family on a Saturday evening. Place wasn't packed. We ordered a couple of things like: beef roll pancake: salty, it was almost inedible. It wasn't the beef but I think it was the sauce. Didn't finish this. house special pork pan fried: we all enjoyed this one. meat was flavorful and my kids enjoyed drinking the broth popcorn chicken: got this for the kids, it wasn't the best popcorn chicken but good. potstickers: good flavor and we all enjoyed it chow mein: how i like my chow mein, has that good high heat flavor.

Yelp
Staff was friendly and we were server pretty quickly. The Pan Fried Pork Buns were extremely filling as they were huge and had a lot of soup in them. My biggest regret was getting the Shrimp XLB as I might as well should've ordered regular instead. Reason being the shrimp had no taste and were just kind of there. The XLB and the soup were amazing though. Would go back to try different XLB.

Yelp
Came to Mom's Dumpling to satisfy my craving for Chinese food, but left a bit disappointed. Just as others have said, their prices are a bit high for the taste and quantity of their food. We ordered the XLBs, Pan Fried Pork Baos, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Wontons in Chili Oil, and Beef Rolls. The only dish I genuinely thought was flavorful was the Braised Beef Noodle Soup. Everything else was quite bland, although the skin on the dumplings and wontons were definitely great. The dumplings and pan fried pork baos were made to order, which was very nice. There was only one server, but service was still good. There was a good amount of seating inside, and it was relatively empty when I came for dinner on a Friday night.

Yelp
Great restaurant with amazing food! Mom Dumpling is pretty hidden by SFSU and very worth the search. I ordered a little of everything. Their hot and sour soup was great quality. It was more sour than hot though. Their steam dumplings were good too. You can see them freshly make them every day. I really enjoyed their special house pan fried pork baos. The texture was like a Chinese donut and I really like it a lot. My least favorite was the noodles. I would prefer more sauce. I loved the texture of the noodles though, nice and chewy.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday lunch and majority of the tables got quickly filled up! There was one waitress working at the time, but service was great. She was friendly and quick! For a table of 3 we definitely over ordered but we wanted to try a lot of their dishes. Braised beef brisket noodle soup was good, heavy soup broth with a good amount of beef. The noodles were excellent! Bouncy and had the perfect chew to them. I wish the soup was a bit lighter but still great. Pan fried pork buns were good. Actually had soup in them unlike some other places. However it was on the bread-ier side. Still delicious, but was really bread heavy on the bottom The beef roll was amazing! It was filled with lettuce instead of cucumber, but i think it was an even better choice because it soaked up a lot of the oil so it was that heavy! The xiao long baos were okay, it had soup but it was really bland. Juicy, but bland. Chow mein was good, Nice and savory and a good portion with it too. Overall the place was really good and i'd definitely come back again!

Yelp
Parking 5 stars Service 5 stars Food 3.5 stars if the prices match the food and quantity the food would be 4 stars Quite pricey for the amount of food you get

Yelp
Came with 2 friends on a Monday night and had no wait! We ordered a bunch of dumplings. From XLB to pan fried, they were ALL juicy and delicious. I'll definitely be back again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid Chinese food for a decent price. Better than all the Chinese spots in the Sunset in my opinion. Beef roll pancake - Lettuce gives it freshness and has a good amount of sauce and beef. Beef in Szechuan Sauce - beef is nicely velveted and the heat is good. Could be a little spicier, but nothing to complain about. Soup dumplings - Average, good but great. String beans - Above average and tasty. Dan Dan noodles - Above average - wish it was a lot spicier.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Delicious Taiwanese food! The crab soup dumpling is very fresh and the wrapper is nice and thin. The deep fried chicken was also so good and reminded me of Taiwan. The broccoli was disappointing because it wasn't what I was expecting though.
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
The food was okay here. My favorite was the pan fried pork bao. The bottom was crispy and the filling was juicy and tender. The XLB were just mediocre. The filling was also juicy and tender, but for the price, I think I like the Trader Joe's ones better. The broccoli was tasty but a bit greasy. I would skip the wonton soup. The dining room is no frills, but it was great that we didn't have to wait. Another bonus is that there is a parking lot. The server was nice enough.

Yelp
This restaurant is located by SFSU between Wells Fargo bank and Enterprise rental car. There's plenty of free parking. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and seated right away. We saw an employee making dumplings from a distance where we were seated. We ordered the house special pork XLB, sizzling beef with black pepper, tan tan noodles, house special chow mein, and black golden cream custard baos. All the food came out pretty fast considering we were the only customers. The sizzling beef with black pepper was still sizzling when it came out. It was pretty flavorful, but it was on the salty side. The XLB was ok and the house special chow mein was tasty, but kind of too greasy. The tan tan noodles were made with udon noodles and peanut nut sauce. It wasn't spicy at all and it was flavorless. This was the worst tan tan mein that we ever had. The black golden cream custard baos were piping hot when it came out. This was definitely our favorite out of the five items that we ordered. While we were dining, we were paranoid that a fruit fly was flying around us. The prices were kind of steep for the small portions that they served. If you're a big eater, you will need to order multiple entrees.
google avatar

Candice H.

Yelp
I've gotten to-go here several times and have always thought it was good. My recent order was disappointing. The Special House Pan-Fried Pork Bao and the Napa Cabbage with Pork did not taste the same. It was less flavorful and they seemed to have skimped on ingredients. The dumplings were definitely more doughy. Hopefully it was an off day for them as this has been my go-to dumpling spot!
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Small location tucked away by SF State, I was really lucky getting a table without a wait on a Sunday. It was cool seeing them hand wrap the dumplings right by our table! The XLB and pan fried buns were our favorites, filled with so much broth!! We were surprised that even the pork/shrimp/chives potstickers were so juicy we had to eat it like a XLB to prevent burning ourselves. I would pass on the tan tan noodles because it mainly taste like plain noodles, there wasn't enough sauces for the amount of noodles they gave. Seeing the table next to us order dessert buns, we got the black golden custard buns to go since we were too full. These heated up well in the microwave and the salted egg custard was perfectly runny! These were a tad expensive but worth trying.

Yelp
Who would have thought this homey dumpling restaurant would be tucked away and hidden within the grounds of SFSU/Park Merced?? What a great find in my opinion! We came in a little after the lunch rush around 2 PM, were warmly greeted by the staff and quickly sat. As you walk in, you can also see a big glass window where the staff fills and makes fresh dumplings. We were super hungry and quickly ordered our food. The staff made sure our table had everything we needed and even provided us sauce trays with vinegar and ginger. Shortly after, our food came out promptly one after the other. **What we ordered** - House Special XLB (soup dumplings) - These classic XLBs were delicious! The dumpling skin was perfectly thin, the broth was so flavorful with a soft and supple pork filling. The addition of the vinegar and ginger really elevates every bite you take. - Sheng Jian Bao (panfried pork bao) - This is a must order, I mean look at the perfect golden bottoms! You've been warned, but these baos come out piping HOT! The different textures from the crisp bottom of the bao, the smooth and comforting broth and juicy pork filling is pure happiness for me. I LOVE adding some of their house chili oil into these bad boys! - Dry Cooked Green Beans - We needed some greens in our diet, but these were so yummy and had just the right amount of "wok hay" for that flavaa. - Shrimp, Pork and Chive Dumplings - Another classic dumpling! The combined flavors of the shrimp, pork and chives really come through and worked together so well. They had just the right amount of skin to filling ratio. Overall, the service was great! They were quick and very attentive to all our needs. The food came out quickly and was so fresh that every bite came out piping hot. My anticipation and hunger for all the hot and steamy goodness could not stop me from sacrificing the roof of my mouth. I must say it was worth every burn lol! We left feeling very full and satisfied, in which I will now proceed to knock out from this food coma. **Pro tip** Bite the tip of your dumplings before you burn all your taste buds lol. It's also the perfect time to add your chili oil or vinegar into the dumplings.

Yelp
One of the best XLB I've tasted. Better than Shanghai Dumpling in Millbrae and close to Ding Tain Fung Tapei, IMO. XLB - Skin is so thin. Meat is not too porky. Filled with soup. Vinegar dipping sauce is not overwhelming. The thinly sliced ginger is another sign of authenticity.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
We ordered to-go and thought the food was really good!! Ordered the shengjianbao, beef noodle soup, green beans, and pig ear. The baos were nice and soupy and the flavor of the broth in the noodle soup was spot on. Green beans had a great garlic flavor. Located in a quiet area with plenty of parking around. Would come again :)

Yelp
We were so delighted when this little hidden gem opened in the SF State area. We've been here many times before I decided I should write a review. We've had many dishes from here, ranging from their dumplings, noodles, and appetizers. Their dumplings are definitely to die for, great texture and flavorful filling. Their Dan Dan noodles were one of the best I have ever had because the noodles were cooked to perfection, the sauce were just the right amount of spice and savoriness. Now moving on to the items from the photos. Crab & Pork XLB - I don't think words can describe how good this is. I've had this XLB from popular places like DTF, and the one from Mom's dumpling are way better. I even took a phot of the fillings. The XLB are topped with some crab meat. When you bite into the XLB, there is an explosion of pork and crab juice slapping your palette. The wrap is the right thickness where the XLB won't break just by simply picking it up. I can probably eat 2-3 order of these by myself and will want more. Salt and Pepper Wings - okay, honestly, we were hesitant on ordering this, because salt pepper wings at a dumpling place can't be good right? Well we were wrong. The wings were crunchy on the outside, flavorful and juicy on the inside. The chili they use were different from other places, but it was just as good. Pork Wonton Soup - the soup was very umami; perfect when it is extremely cold outside. The wonton filling had that meat bouncy texture, which is the best texture for a wonton. Cucumber with Garlic Sauce - this is one of my favorite appetizers here. I am not sure if they marinate their cucumber in this garlic sauce because it is so flavorful. Heads up, your breath will stick for a while after eating this, but worth it! This place restaurant is very clean and quiet, and very friendly staffs. Everything I had at this restaurant since my first time being here had been amazing, and I plan on returning to try everything on their menu.

Yelp
Cousins visiting from out of town requested dumplings for dinner. After a quick Yelp search, found this place we haven't tried before and made reservations. Located in a plaza that's kinda hidden. Plenty of tables. We ordered quite a bit, and the serving sizes were pretty decent. We enjoyed all the items, but standouts for me were the pork XLB (cousins ate so many of these) and pan-fried pork buns (so good! We re-ordered more of these bc we liked them so much). The cucumber salad was tasty, and kiddo really liked the pig ears. Dry fired green beans were flavorful, and cousin noted her fave as the chicken and shitake mushroom potstickers. The Black Golden Custard buns were pillowy soft, and the inside tasted liked salted egg custard. Cousin's kiddo was apprehensive about trying it, but once he did he wanted more. Food arrived pretty quickly and all were hot. Will definitely return when craving dumplings again.

Yelp
Pretty good SJB and Jianbing from Mom's Dumpling. They do a good job making the bottom of the SJB thicker and the top thinner so that the crispy bit has some toughness while the dough at the top isn't too thick. If I was at SF State I'd probably come here a lot.

Yelp
Located in a nondescript strip mall near SF State, Mom Dumpling is a surprising restaurant offering made-from-scratch dumplings, folded to order behind a glass window in full view of the humble dining room. The Xiao Long Bao dumpling wrappers were rolled out from dough before being filled with minced pork, weighed to ensure uniformity, and steamed to perfection. The soupy filling went nicely with ginger and vinegar for dipping, and the skin was perfectly soft yet chewy. Another highlight was the Pan Fried Bao, made of a soupy pork filling in a doughy wrapper, which was pan-fried to create a perfectly crusty bottom. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, dressed in a sauce of peanut butter and ground meat, and served with Shanghai bok choy; and the oily Dry Cooked Green Beans, which were deep-fried and dressed with garlic. Overall, the food here was surprisingly fresh and tasty, given the humble setting, though the prices weren't particularly cheap.

Yelp
Came in today after work for a quick bite with a friend. I've been here many times. And love every time of it. However, this time was .. off. Sizzling beef & string beans was extra salty. Fried house pork bao didn't have much flavor. Thin sliced pig ears was kind of hard to chew. Service is still amazing. Very polite, attentive, fast service and food came fast. Their uncle (I assume) was wrapping dumplings at the back table, but he got up and left many times and left the HUGE BOWL OF STUFFING UNATTENDED! Even tho the weather is cold and chill, the outer layer of the stuffing was changing colors. And yes, they steam the dumplings in over 200 degree and yes it will kill all the bacteria and flies stuck in there, but looking at a hygiene pov, please don't leave it out on the table all to the open view.

Yelp
I haven't been here for a while and I notice the menu is different. Did they change ownership? Whether they did or not, Im glad their XLB is still good. The one thing I don't recommend is their popcorn chicken which was pretty salty. The lava bun is diff from their black one but it's still good. Overall my kids favorite place just for XLB. Rest was ok.

Yelp
Food check Service check Casual vibes check Juicy thick dumplings check! Other outstanding dishes, string beans, braised beef noodle soup, (they don't skimp out on the meat!) chive pockets and the steam lava bao. Everything was good quality and flavorful. Last thing to mention, they have the biggest pan fried dumplings here, I've never seen them this big. I will have to come back to try them next time!!

Yelp
Food here was a new experience and it was really good. Dumpling fillings were of good portion. Dishes were seasoned well, not too salty, not bland. The salted egg custard buns were my favorite. This is the best buns I have ever eaten! Service was good. Did not have to wait long before being served their delicious foods. There is ample free parking.

Yelp
The good... Plenty of parking Clean Good service Food was good The bad... Slightly over priced, but within acceptable range imo Conclusion... A very good pop and mom's dumpling (pun intended) shop. Our favorite dish was the House Special Pork Pan Fried Bao (#20). Will visit again soon to try other dishes.

Yelp
MD is located in a grungy strip mall having a dispensary, a smoke shop, taqueria, etc..all behind SF State. Plenty of strip mall parking in this primarily residential area sprinkled with apartments and student housing. Perfect one-stop shopping mall for your recommended or unrecommended smokes and then filling your tummy after when the munchies come calling. Kidding aside, the dumplings, beef rolls, and steam fried pork buns are tasty and affordable in this hidden neighborhood gem. Don't expect an upscale interior or fine dining but do expect very good comfort food that is brought out HOT to your table. We ordered: - XLB which comes out six to an order, there's plenty of "hot" soup filling to suck out although I noticed that the meat filling is not compacted in a solid mass but more like a loose pork hash consistency. The skins were thin and did not break. - Beef Roll that comes out in two rolls cut in thirds, thus six pieces to share. The rolls comes out hot and "crispy" although I would have preferred one more layer of thin sliced beef in the rolls. The filling could have been a little warmer too. - Pork Buns of six to an order, these also come out "hot", crispy bottoms, with plenty of juice in the bun. The meat consistency is similar to the XLB, a little loose like pork hash again. Overall, I would definitely go back to this little family-owned restaurant as it's affordable, good value for the money, not overly crowded, hot and tasty morsels, and good, polite service. The consistency of the meat filling is kind of loose but I understand each restaurant has a different approach as to their fillers. We sat near the windowed food prep area as "Mom" was making the dumplings, she used a large tablespoon to scoop and fill the hand flattened skins and did not compact it with her hands before wrapping. Just a different wrapping form... not DTF where they weigh and form fit the filler.... Oh but they're employing 5x the number of filler employees and costing a lot more too, LOL. Conclusion: 4x year place to eat at....cute XLB soup spoons!

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem! I would definitely come here again, the prices are cheap compared to prices in the city.

Yelp
Not sure what the hype about this place?! Honestly, things looks presentable and edible. You can skip the flavors! Nothing authentic about the XLB and pan fried bun. The worst part is the dough that they use for fried dumpling. It taste kind of mushy and no texture. Anyways, I'm giving a thread stars because the place is clean and food is presentable.

Yelp
I love this place! It's a hole in the wall in the city, I'm surprised I've never been here before until now. It's located in a small plaza near SF State, and luckily there's parking, too! This is a great alternative to Dumpling Home in SF, especially since that place is deeper into the city and can be a long line. I came to Mom Dumpling at 12:15pm on a Sunday and got seated right away. We ordered green beans, soup dumplings, and pan fried pork baos are delicious and came to our table nice and hot. I do wish the pan fried pork baos were a little more crispier, but they were amazing regardless. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
"I never knew you were so deep." - Kung Fu Hustle Mom Dumpling has been on my list for awhile! Shoutout to Super Mom, Vanessa O., for placing it on my radar. So on a dumpling cravings whim, my Sunset Bestie and I, decided to give Mom's a try! If you haven't been here before, I highly suggest using Google or Apple Maps for guidance. The location is in a small complex several blocks south of San Francisco State University. Parking is plentiful in lot and street. Upon entering we noticed that almost every table was taken on Sunday late afternoon. We were somewhat surprised because of the somewhat obscure location, but hey, make good dumplings and people will come! We ordered three items which was perfect for two of us: Special House Pork Xiao Long Bao; Special House Pan-fried Pork Bao; Dry Cooked Green Beans. I added hot tea to the mix. My Sunset Bestie was against paying for tea, but I insisted we needed it to pair well with the dumplings - and finding out it was quality Chrysanthemum loose leaf Tea made it so worth! The cadence of our dishes was just off. For instance, we got the Special House Pork Xiao Long Bao; Dry Cooked Green Beans; and Chrysanthemum Tea about ten minutes before the Special House Pan-fried Pork Bao! And did I mention how she won't eat anything until everything is on the table? I know, just that way! So once everything is finally on the table, including a very hot pot of tea, I sent the lukewarm teapot back the first time. Yea, things were off for sure, but once settled and eating and sipping the beautiful hot tea... life was good again! All dishes were delicious, but the star was the Special House Pan-fried Pork Bao! Mom Dumpling is known for this dish and wow just wow! In the end, I recommend Mom Dumpling to anyone into dumplings, Chinese cuisine, or just plain good food! Price point standard and service good enough. It's a popular spot for Sunset homies and Parkmerced seniors. I'd go again in a heartbeat, just make sure the Special House Pan-fried Pork Bao is on the list! :D

Yelp
Again we sat by the kitchen to watch the little lady making the Baos. The portions of meat were quite substantial and during the steaming, the meat would shrink slightly and thus creating the flavorful soup in each dumpling. Of course we ordered a round of XLB each and as expected excellent as always, especially when its made fresh and cooked to order. The pan fired pork Baos, were another favorite of ours. A crispy base and light pork filling $13.98 for 6. Jasmin tea costs $4.98. Service was attentive and welcoming. Kaniel (sorry if spelt incorrectly) served us and mentioned they recently opened another eatery called Cajun Seafood in SSF. Looking forward to giving the new place a try, especially if the standard of food is as good as Mom's Dumpling.

Yelp
Stopped by for a lil Tuesday date snack with the lady & we had a great time. We started wit the xlb & then got the pan fried dumplings. Both were a hit so then we got the pork & shrimp siu mai which was also hit the spot. We ended up taking 20 dumplings for home, which is really nice for midnight wonton soup. When you walk in, you see chef making the dumplings by hand. I thought that was really cool. The service is chill too. Sweet, simple & solid spot!

Yelp
I tried Mom Dumpling just a couple months ago and have already been back 3 more times! This has definitely become one of my go to spots for dumplings. My favorite things to get here are: +Garlic String Beans - Great portion and great flavor! +Pork XLB - Very traditional and never disappoints! +Pan Fried Pork Buns with Shrimp - I usually don't like this dish, but I love it here. I love the texture of the bun. I prefer to get this with shrimp because the regular pork tasted like there was soy sauce added. +Pork and Napa Cabbage Dumplings - Best in the city for sure. Flavors are on point and love the texture of the wrap. I've also tried the hot n sour soup, which I was not a fan of. It was too sour for my liking and I think it gave my friend and I a stomachache after. I also tried the beef rolls. The first time I had it here, it was really good. The pancake was nice and soft. It was a perfect ratio of beef and everything inside. But when I had it the second time there was barely any beef and the pancake was more harder to eat. I had to deduct a star for inconsistency. Service is also inconsistent. For the most part, they are friendly and attentive. Only one time they weren't. And the first time I came here one of the workers spilled a bucket of water on the floor cause my brother's whole foot to be wet. No apology or anything. We had to raise our feet for a good 5 minutes while they mopped of water from underneath us.

Yelp
As always good service and great food! Decided to stop by here for lunch before heading home. Definitely get the house special xiao long bao. We also ordered the veg fried rice, pork and shrimp potstickers, as well as the thai tea. All 10/10! We also tried the beef brisket soup for the first time and it was pretty good! The broth was lighter than expected and overall a 8/10! Everything else was so good! Server was rly attentive and sweet!

Yelp
The food here is so delicious!!! It is a made to order which is fresh. We ordered the house Special XLB, Crab and pork Xlb. The soup inside Xlb was so good. Also, the house special pan-fried bao and vegetarian pot stickers were tasty. I would comeback here again.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 - Every single thing we ordered was really good. The consistency here is really notable, it's not often that I can't point out a single dish that was lacking. - XLBs are stuffed full of soup (see pics). I think they are the hardest XLB I've ever tried to pick up with chopsticks because of that, but they taste so def worth Value: 4/5 - This restaurant targets the upper middle tier of price points. Nowhere near a McDonalds but also far from a fancy restaurant. My wife and I spent ~$70 between the two of us (tip & tax included) and had some leftovers to take home. Price is reasonable for the quality of the food, but made more worth it because of the low wait (I feel like this place is still undiscovered). Comparable to Dumpling Home in SF but no wait. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - Clean and efficient, nothing too crazy here. Nice traditional looking Chinese style art on the walls. Service: 5/5 - We went in at prime dinner time around 6pm on a weekday and there was no wait to be seated. - Kaniel was very attentive and went out of his way to check in and make sure we were taken care of. - Food came out very quickly. Overall, the impressive consistency of the food and great service makes me round an otherwise 4/5 experience up to 5/5! (Also def get the San Jian Bao, we didn't but saw a neighboring table get it and they are HUGE)
