Buzzy spot for Scandinavian breakfast & lunch staples & aquavit in stylish surroundings.
"This Scandinavian breakfast cafe is a Portland gem, with locations everywhere from Hood River to Southwest Oleson; however, it’s hard to beat the original cafe, where folks wait for a table with cups of cardamom coffee or breakfast cocktails made with Scandinavian aquavit for a regionally appropriate breakfast tipple. Brunch should start with the cheerful little ebelskivers — spherical, fluffy pancake balls topped in powdered sugar, followed by pans of lost eggs or lefse." - Zoe Baillargeon, Janey Wong, Rebecca Roland
"On the first truly cool and rainy day of the fall (aka yesterday), I was craving a hearty brunch: Enter Broder’s folorade aggs (lost eggs), essentially an excuse to eat a pool of warm cream dotted with eggs, spinach, mushrooms, and leeks, all under a panko and Parmesan crust. It was the perfect thing to eat as it rained for 10 minutes outside, the richness pushing the chills right out of your body. And I can’t escape a meal at Broder without an order of abelskiver, still as good as you remember them with a generous spread of lemon curd, a nice tartly sweet contrast to my bath of lost eggs." - Eater Staff
"The minimalist, refined Nordic breakfasts coming from this cozy, narrow row of a restaurant make the occasionally long waits completely worth it. The Broder Bord is a heavenly sampler platter of cheese, pickled egg, granola, yogurt, and gravlox, while the Lost Eggs are a textural contrast of poached eggs, decadent ham, spinach, and crispy panko. As most know, the ebleskivers with lemon curd and lingonberry jam are an absolute must." - Nick Woo, Eater Staff
"One of the pioneers of Portland’s rampant brunch scene, the Scandinavian restaurant is serving its ableskivers, lefse, and baked eggs outside now." - Alex Frane
