"The authenticity of this former monastery (1293) has been preserved in every detail. Where once the friars used to take their meals, you can now enjoy a luxurious dining experience in a historical setting. The ultra-modern open kitchen immediately catches the eye. Niels van Dooijeweert prepares French dishes using contemporary techniques. Turbot fried À la minute, a robust jus enriched with butter and juicy veal cheeks. For fans of such delicacies, this is the place to be. Top-notch produce takes pride of place at Broederenklooster. The beautiful guestrooms are perfect for a good night's rest." - Michelin Inspector

I really like everything about it but one thing. The only breakfast option was a 3 course breakfast of very fancy food. I am not a big eater in the morning and would prefer a small something and coffee. Full disclosure there are 3 bakeries within a block but it would be nice to have that option. They do serve 'just coffee'. I just look at the full kitchen and think...why not!?

We went here for a weekend away and are very happy we stayed here. The food the wine cart the room and essentially the staff are amazing! So friendly and welcoming We will definitely repeat. Thanks very much

We booked the Zutphen City arrangement to great satisfaction. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted with coffee and a delicious pastry. Our room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The city center of Zutphen is walkable from the hotel and offers plenty of terraces and shopping possibilities. Upon return we enjoyed a 6-course fine dining. Staff is very friendly. The no-nonsense spirit of the owners - Marieke (Maître d'Hôtel) and Niels (Chef) - is reflecting on the team, who are very knowledgeable about all dishes, very service-minded, with the capacity to adjust customs in line with the guests. Michelin star potential!

What a great surprise! - The restaurant is excellent, easy going atmosphere but still a very high level of quality and absolutely delicious. Rooms typically Dutch stylish where old meets modern… all in all an unexpected very positive discovery!

A really good restaurant and hotel. Service could be a little sharper for the price though

AmAzInG Place! Awesome food, we came for the food, we had been for the food before, and will be back for the food again. Quick before they get a Michelin Star and everybody gets to know about this gem! One small piece of feedback to note, of course, the service on top of the food is a absolute deal maker or breaker. In hour case this time round, we started off with a boring waiter, didn't seem to care less, was not friendly per say, dumped the food on table without any kind of information, just zero passion (we had 6-course-dinner). We gave the feedback, other waiter(s) helped us out most amazingly. Thank you so much team!!

Unfortunately this hotel is not what it once used to be. Whereas I would have recommended this hotel 2 years ago, I myself will not go back after the treatment we got in our last visit. They completely ruined our stay and their attempts at rectifying it were absolutely insulting (offering to cover the costs of water and an apple juice and a glass of wine at dinner). The staff were really friendly, but that doesn't make up in any way for ruining our anniversary.

When a restaurant starts off their 4 or 10 course dinner with the body of Christ handed to you in a set of prayer hands, how could you not expect a heavenly experience? And that is exactly what we got at both the restaurant and the hotel. The dinner was fabulous and the room and the location amazing. The food was subtle, local and surprising. The room was modern and gorgeous. The three course breakfast was like the dinner and absolutet treat—like “-angels pissing on your tongue” as the Dutch expression goes. Now expect to pay a costly ticket into heaven, but one that is well worth it. There’s two small points to note, I was surprised the dinner does not come with a wine pairing even-though they do have a good sommelier. A bit of a sin to let that slide. Second, the music, in a monastery type of setting you expect perhaps more St John and less John Legend. Music can be such a tone setter for a place that should have Michelin start ambitions, and soft jazz while surrounded by bricks from the 1400’s just seems out of tone. If you’re comfortable service the body of Christ pick some music to match that vibe. That being said, Zutphen in general and this hotel in general are a slice of heaven not to be missed
