Google
Broken Yolk Cafe is fantastic! I had the cinnamon pancakes with fries, and it was absolutely amazing. The flavors were spot on, and the portion size was perfect. The best part? There was no wait time at all, and the service was quick. For the quality of the meal, the price was surprisingly low--it felt like a great deal. The restaurant and bathroom were also very clean, which added to the overall experience. Highly recommend! Five stars!

Google
This was our first time coming and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone was so attentive and our server Sabino was amazing. We will definitely be visiting every time we come into town!

Lisa K.

Google
From out of town this was our first visit. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the best pancakes Ive ever had! Everyone in our group loved their plates! Wonderful service and excellent food!

Darla D.

Google
Definitely enjoyed sitting outside in the nice California weather and the food was outstanding. Actually had breakfast there twice in the same week that we were visiting. The omelets are so good, and outstanding eggs benedict, and avocado toast with two broken yolk eggs on top so delicious! Oh did I mention the blueberry infused pancakes with fresh blueberries on top - Amazing!!! The inside of the restaurant was a bit noisy but it's busy because everyone goes there since the food is so good!! We went to other breakfast places while we were visiting, but this place hands down was the best!

Kimberly L.

Google
Listte was the manager and she was very nice and welcoming. Jennifer was my server and she was very kind and helpful and completely on top of it . The food was fantastic and I most certainly will be back

Google
Broken Yolk is such an excellent place for a delicious and inventive brunch. They have all the classics, and some options with a twist - like the fantastic eggs benedict sopes (pictured). Not only was the food wonderful, but our server, Carlos, made us feel right at home - such a warm, friendly dude. Thanks Carlos and Broken Yolk! You're our new favorite.

Google
First time dining in at this location and everything was phenomenal, we were greeted as soon as we open the door, and got sat down right away. Everyone was extremely kind and serviceable. Jennifer and Alonso made our experience beyond expectations! We never had to ask for refills, or anything. They both were hands down with our table. The restaurant itself it’s beautiful and ambience is nice, and familiar. Highly recommend to come and yap with friends and family, and have a good time with some coffee and mimosas!

James B.

Google
The food here was really good with a good selection of different options, and the server was friendly and attentive. Service was phenomenal! If I am ever in Costa Mesa again, I’ll gladly eat here.

Yelp
Sabino's service was great! The food was yummy! The ambiance was nice great music playing

Yelp

Yelp

Yelp
Great breakfast/brunch spot! This was my first time here. They have a lot of menu items. I loved all of the fall themed items like the pumpkin spice pancakes and espresso pumpkin'tini. I came here on a Sunday and Monday. It gets busy on the weekends but I was able to get served quickly. They have a lot of seating options. They have indoor, bar top, and outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly. Also, I loved the music they have playing.

Yelp
I've heard so much about Broken Yolk, but I did not love my experience. My partner and I came in on a weekend morning. Many seats were taken, but we passed plenty of tables as they led us to the patio, which only had two tables sat -- both had dogs with them. I'm not sure why we, dogless, were sat outside. The weather was nice though, so we didn't sweat it. My partner enjoyed his American Breakfast. I did not enjoy my Avocado Toast. The avocado was VERY ripe, a little too ripe for me and browning in a few spots. The egg on top was okay. I've heard such good things about Broken Yolk. Maybe fruit and veggie focused meals are not their strong suit.

Yelp
Five of us came for breakfast on a busy Friday morning. We asked our server, Sabino if he would prepare separate checks. He said it would be an inconvenience on his part (???)and we would have to sit and wait for it after we've eaten. What? This was not the first time we came as a group and asked for separate checks. It was never a problem with the other servers. When we were done, the check arrived. ONE check. He said we would have to sort it out for him. What? One of our friends went to the manager who sorted it out without a problem. Sabino blamed the miscommunication on OUR part (???) The four stars are for the delicious food and for the intersession of the manager who apologized and was able to make up 5 separate checks in seconds with a few clicks on the computer. Sabino must have been having a bad day. We left a good tip none the less.

Yelp
Kicked off my birthday with breakfast at one of my favorite places...Broken Yolk. My brother, sis-in-law and husband took me to begin my day o' celebrating and I'm so glad they did. Once again it was a great dining experience and I got my breakfast choice for free because it was bday which is a nice benefit of being a Broken Yolk rewards member. We felt very taken care of from the moment we sat down to signing the check. I also need to point out that it was a very busy time of day for the Broken Yolk but not once did we feel it. Our server, food, outside table and ambiance were all fantastic which was perfect for beginning a very special day for me. I felt it necessary to post another review for this establishment because it just proves to be consistently deserving of 5 stars and that's worth noting.

Yelp
Good vibes and ambiance walking in! It's the month of October so a full spook fest and all staff was dressed in costumes. Enjoyed the balloon guy that came around and made us balloon animals (no we didn't have any children with us, yes they were for us!). We all got avocado toast and it came with probably 3 smashed avocados on top, however we all agreed 1 would've sufficed. Proportions were a little off, having so much avocado made the bread soggy. It would've been better if the bread had also been toasted but it made the dish floppy. The poached eggs were not the most attractive or elegant but it tasted good. The champagne flight was great can't complain there!
google avatar

Almog K.

Yelp
Honestly it's just a standard breakfast place. Loud and a lot of children, our server could hardly hear me. The coffee is really good which was surprising.

Shelisa W.

Yelp
Great service as always! I love the atmosphere here, it's welcoming and relaxed. The staff is kind, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond. The food is delicious, and the portion sizes are very generous for the price. Don't forget to try the mimosa flight, absolutely delicious! My server, Savino, was fantastic and kept a smile on his face even during the busiest moments. Thank you for always taking such great care of me whenever I stop by. I'll definitely be back soon! Also don't forget to download the rewards app, totally worth it!

Yelp
Broken Yolk is always so solid for breakfast. We are local and this place feels like vacation breakfast, which we love. All of the entrees are solid, but we especially love the pancakes and omelettes. Sabino is a great server. Very professional and through-- we had everything we needed throughout our meal, and I'm impressed with how the staff handles a crowd! This is the preppiest breakfast restaurant ever! (Moana, age 11)
google avatar

Lisbeth R.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and that they're in the Halloween spirit I really love the Halloween decor!!! It's so fun and spooky

Mary R.

Yelp
We were greeted from across the street! Already, we knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. It was just myself and my two girls. My eldest asked Mr. Sabino if we were allowed to sit in the couch seating, and she was very politely told yes, which totally made her day. As we waited, a very sweet young lady made my girls a balloon animal (a butterfly and a kitten, wow!). Their children's pancakes were shaped like Mickey Mouse, super cute. We will absolutely be returning! ¡Muchisimas gracias, Sabino!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Mix and match is the selling point of this place in my opinion. You want to try two different kinds of eggs Benedict, you can here! You want to try all their sweet pancakes-they have a trio option! And trust me, you want to try as many things as possible...everything is so unique and flavorful. Recommended the Border Benedict 100%. Our waiter Sabino was very attentive, and helped us with recommendations.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice sized outside patio. Has a coffee shop/Diner vibe. American and some Mexican food menu items.

Yelp
Whoever made our lunch today needs to get cracked. Our wonderful server Carlos F. Was so kind and attentive. We couldn't have had a better time rlly set our day up. My fiance had the chicken fried steak and eggs, I had the smoked salmon toast. We didn't include the photo because our big backs ate that food so quick. Seriously come here to eat. For my energy drink fam they just got new redbull drinks and the pineapple redbull mangoñada is AMAZING ‍ Again thank you Carlos for making our experience great. UPDATE: forgot to add the Nutella crepe was chocolate bash level good they are NOT stingy with that Nutella go EAT IT!

Yelp
Second time at this location and it is still great just like all the other BYCs we have been to. They have a good sized lot in a medium to large sized strip mall so that parking is ample. Our server was friendly and efficient and we really appreciated her service. On this visit we got the classic eggs Benedict again and a make your own omelet. Both were great. The omelet was huge. Had no cheese, Canadian bacon, mushroom, and avocado. Sides were hash browns and blueberry muffin. The browns were thin and crispy and the muffin small but that was ok cause of the size of the other items. On a Tuesday morning near the holidays it was deserted and very quiet. Definitely recommend trying these guys and will be back next time in the area.
google avatar

Angelina R.

Yelp
Very mid experience at this location. The service was slow despite not being busy and the food was underwhelming once it arrived. I love the menu variety and ability to modify or create healthier options and those more indulgent, but the wait is absolutely not worth it. Also, even though the vibes of the restaurant's decor are cute, it just sort of felt dead on the morning we went. Overall, not the greatest experience and I wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Excellent service. We came in to get some takeout for breakfast. We patiently sat in the waiting area. We were asked several times if we have been helped. I have ordered burritos all over the US. I have driven as far as San Diego to get a burrito too. We ordered the California burrito, French toast, and two breakfast plates. The breakfast omelette looked OK and there were no complaints from my buddies. Of course I had the burrito. I think for the most part the burrito did not seem to be worth $17 and it was quite underwhelming due to it being mostly egg and for the price I expected more meat inside of it. Service was great, but food could be better.
google avatar

Yelp
First time coming here. I came with my kids and we loved it. Food was delicious and the service was great. Our server Sabino was very attentive.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for over three years, but recently the service has gone downhill. I visited twice this week (Friday and Saturday) and had the same server both times. On Saturday, we arrived about 40 minutes before closing, and it felt like we were an inconvenience just for walking in. We've had this same server several times before, and he's never introduced himself or made much of an effort to be friendly. His service is always rushed and vague, which takes away from the overall experience. For example, we asked for a coffee refill he came and was rushing, poured the coffee, then spilled as he was pulling his arm back in. He didn't wipe the table or say sorry??? I understand accidents happen, but to not acknowledge it??? He doesn't even stop walking while checking in on us, just rude. It's disappointing to see the quality of service decline after being a loyal customer for so long. Unfortunately, will not be returning to this location. To end on a positive note, the food is good and consistent.

Yelp
This place had great reviews so when we were in town we tried it. I really did enjoy my food but it was a lot more "diner esq" then I was expecting. Don't get me wrong the place was so cute on the inside. Gave old time diner... but nothing special. It was SUPER busy. The food was good. We got the avocado toast and the cinnamon stack pancakes.
google avatar

Yelp
My friend and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. Boy, was the place packed! It was hard finding a parking spot nearby, but there were plenty of spots near the Harbor Blvd end of the parking lot. The wait for a table was about 30 minutes. Not too bad. Service was good. I ordered their New York Steak & Eggs. I got it with my steak cooked medium and the eggs sunny side up. For my sides, I got fresh fruit and sourdough bread. For my drink, I got an iced tea. The drink was served in a big tumbler. Big enough that I never had to get a refill. Overall the food was okay. However unfortunately, the steak wasn't very good. If I come back here, I would be ordering something else on the menu.
google avatar

Nathaniel N.

Yelp
the food and the service is good and i recommend it and their raspberry iced tea is good

Yelp
Had such a lovely brunch. Sabino was great, super helpful. Food was delicious as always, absolutely love the Ranchera Skillet

Yelp
Broken Yolk is hands down my favorite brunch spot! Whether I'm meeting up with friends, going for a solo date (when my fiancé, Martin, is too sleepy to get up), or just craving a great breakfast, Broken Yolk never disappoints. The portions are generous and the service is always on point. One of the fun touches I love is the balloon artist who comes around--always fun seeing what he creates! When it comes to the menu, I usually go for the two eggs classic breakfast with corned beef hash-- it's classic and so satisfying. Martin's go-to is their Benedicts, where he'll usually pick the classic and Caprese. If I'm in the mood for a Benedict, I'm all about the Golden State Benedict. It's got this amazing sweet cornbread base, topped with carne asada and a delicious green sauce. It's truly a must-try! Oh, and if you're in the mood for something a little sweet, their French toast with strawberries is fantastic as well. Broken Yolk is the perfect spot if you're craving a solid breakfast or brunch. And since I'm from San Diego, it makes it even more special knowing that's where Broken Yolk started. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area!

Yelp
Life begins after breakfast! We had a busy day planned, so I was looking for something filling but also fulfilling to eat. Settled on this place after doing a quick search. Broken Yolk is in a shopping plaza near Harbor Boulevard and Adams Avenue. Large parking lot but it was challenging getting a spot on a busy Sunday afternoon. They use the Yelp Waitlist and you can join on your phone, but check in with the host when you arrive. It was about a 30 minute wait. Plenty of tables, booths, countertop chairs, and outdoor seating. Menu is a mix of everything under the sun. Pancakes, waffles, crepes, French toasts, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, salads, soups, omelets, benedicts, Tex-Mex, and more. They also have several beverages to choose from. Water was served in giant glass jars, I didn't have to ask for a refill! Cali Breakfast Burrito - Flour tortilla filled with avocado, bacon, cheese, eggs, and potatoes. Pretty standard. We don't eat a lot, so it was shareable between two people. Served with rice, beans, green sauce, and salsa on the side. Classic French Toast - Three slices of eggy bread sprinkled with powdered sugar on top. Can't go wrong with this one! Cinna-Cakes - two sweet and cinnamon-y pancakes. Portions were surprisingly large, didn't finish eating this one. It's somewhere between 3.5 - 4 stars for me. Nothing really special but they mostly get the basics right. Wouldn't wait in line for it.

Yelp
stopped here to grab some casual breakfast for food, we ordered a Belgian waffle and buffalo chicken wrap. the waffle was standard, 7/10. the wrap was not good, too much dressing and something just seemed off about it. 6/10. for drinks, we ordered a strawberry banana smoothie and a messy caramel latte, it was standard so I would rate it 7/10. overall, the food to me was just OK but the severs were accosting and allowed us to make a different selection for food.

Yelp
Assisted by Sabino with Good food and service. Really urged the rewards program and got free pancakes, thank you

J R.

Yelp
We had a pretty underwhelming experience at Broken Yolk. The restaurant looked busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away, which was a plus. Overall, the service was decent--nothing exceptional, but nothing to complain about either. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. We ordered the Meat Lover's Skillet, Classic Eggs Benedict, Belgian Waffle, and Tiki Toast. The Tiki Toast and Skillet were okay--not bad, but nothing to rave about either. The real letdowns were the waffle and the eggs benedict. The waffle had an odd texture, and the eggs benedict came with barely any hollandaise sauce. Worse, the eggs were overcooked--more soft-boiled than poached. Overall the quality just didn't live up to the menu prices. This is a one and done place for me.
google avatar

Anabel B.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was expected to be busy. Also the wait time was not bad actually. The selection of food and drinks is pretty good. The establishment does offer outdoor seating which was. A huge plus for our party. We shared a lot of our dishes amongst our group. But I'm glad I went with my green chilaquiles with carne asada and mimosa flight.

Clarissa G.

Yelp
Sabino got us sat quickly and had great service and the food was great! Everything came out quickly
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
The food was delicious, great hospitality. My server Sabino was a delight. And i did mention the food was good
google avatar

Allison G.

Yelp
2024 Sabino J was very helpful. Apologies for the wait. Polite and professional. We enjoyed our meal.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Bustling breakfast spot that offers another decent option for basic breakfast. At the risk of sounding super snobby I gotta say that the food is generic and the vibes are the same. Basic classic American breakfast that doesn't totally set itself apart from a Denny's or Norms experience. Broken Yolk feels incredibly corporate. That lack of depth left me feeling empty. If I was looking for a restaurant in this weight class, I would much rather go to Snooze for something that feels interesting. The menu's colorful and the images pop - you think/hope that maybe Broken Yolk will deliver something special. Not the case. Service was fantastic! Location is nice. Overall, we had zero problems
google avatar

Yelp
I'd had a couple of really good breakfasts with a pal - around 9:00 am on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I kind of built it up to my wife, telling her she'd love it. She didn't. And neither did I. On our midday Friday visit everything was cold, my overcooked scrambled eggs were rubbery and her pancakes were heavy and her hash browns cold. My first visits were so good I might give it another chance. I doubt she will.

Yelp
I finally made it to BYC after driving past it on Adams & Harbor in CM hundreds of times. Note to self: Don't go on a Sun after golf around 12:30 unless you want a long wait for your food. Despite the long wait for our food, the portions are big, and the food tastes good. I had the Mom omelette w/ a lot or veggies, a side of black beans and corn tortillas. I could not finish the omelette, and gave 1/4 to my friend. One of the guys in my regular golf group lives in CM, and is a regular here. One of the two remaining guys in the group liked the food. The fourth one liked the food, but did not appreciate his food coming after the other three dishes. In addition, his tortillas were in bad shape. Regarding the ambiance, its big in here and they have outdoor seating. BYC is a popular place for brunch on the weekends. Likewise, the service from Jennifer and the rest of the team was friendly & warm. She did warn us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. Nonetheless, she stopped by a couple of times to check on us, and give us drink refills. I'm glad I finally made it here. I look forward to trying their salads, sandwiches or burgers the next time. We play golf on Wed's also, so we'll make sure we come on Wed vs Sun.

Yelp
Came by on a Tuesday morning around 9:30, got seated right away. Service was very friendly & quick! Our food came out in record time. I tired their matcha latte (5/5, perfect in every way) & their meat lovers skillet. The skillet was just okay, maybe 2.5/5. It was covered in cheese, like a disgusting amount of cheese, and that kind of ruined it for me.
google avatar

Catalina O.

Yelp
Honestly the manager is a gem, she definitely cares about her customers and wants them to have a great experience! That's the only reason I'm giving two stars. Mind you I'm pretty hungover so I was excited for this food. As a server myself, service was trash. Kitchen must've been backed up, ordered steak and eggs. Simple? No. First time it came, it was well done. I normally don't send it back, my friend sent it back for me. Second time it came out, even more well done. Depressing... instead of getting toast, I ordered chocolate chip pancakes. What a shock, didn't come with chocolate chips. Another disappointment. The mimosa flights were amazing. Now this is what grinds my gears. Check is finally brought, server on patio didn't check on us, we had to call him over. My check initially reads $76.86. Put my card down. Check is brought back out, now I've been charged $106.18??? So I ask our server how it went up since I was charged. Let's me know he forgot to add everything on our tab. I'm just very frustrated with the lack of professionalism, and the lack of accountability with the service. Not a fan at all.
google avatar

Angie H.

Yelp
I haven't been there in awhile, I very disappointed on the breakfast.. I ordered Belgian waffles, the waffles were not cooked properly inside was very wet inside.. I told waiter.. he took back and brought another one and that was also bad inside.. I never experienced a bad one before.. it's not cheap place to eat. Not if it was because it was a Sunday and there were rushing to get the food out .. to me it's unacceptable , I don't think I'll be back eating at Broken Yolk ! Or change the Cook !

Yelp
Try the French toast combo just do it. I have been to their downtown orange location as well. This one has ample parking !!

Yelp
Worst customer service will not come back to this location. I came here yesterday with a girlfriend for brunch and our server was less than stellar. SABINO only stopped by our table to take our order and we never saw him again until it was time to give SABINO our check and that's because we asked him to stop and take our check so we could leave!! From observing, we could tell we weren't the only table that was displeased with the service as everyone around us also had to constantly be calling for him to check in or get a box or what not . Not sure how he has great reviews it must be friends and family After my flight of mimosas, I was trying to get my espresso martini which he finally did bring to me and I mentioned to him that it did not have the coffee beans and he kind of made a joke as if it wasn't important if I'm paying almost $20 for a drink. It should definitely come with everything that's included It doesn't matter what he thinks belongs on the drink and what doesn't My girlfriend also asked for a box to go as she still had a lot of her meal left and it took almost 25 minutes to get that one box Definitely if you come to this establishment ask for a different server if you want to be checked upon to make sure that your meal is good that you don't need anything else, etc.
google avatar

Taylor G.

Yelp
Food was okay, the chicken on my biscuits and gravy was severely dry and flavorless. My friend said her salmon benedict was cold. The waitress forgot to bring the piece of bacon on my bloody mary so I had to ask for it and then she brought it to me in a folded paper napkin. Overall I would come back but I'd probably try something different next time.

Yelp
Our server was super nice and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The place is super spacious with indoor seatings and outdoor. It was my first time here and I had an amazing experience. I would definitely come back here. Shout out to our server Carlos!

Yelp
I recently returned to this brunch spot with my boyfriend. The service is usually great, but on this visit, it took longer than usual for our server to take our order. However, we both agreed that it was worthwhile! The environment was cozy and comfortable. We got a booth table by the window, so it was nice feeling the warmth of the sun slightly beaming on us, especially after a week of rain. My boyfriend ordered one of Broken Yolk's favorites-- the chilaquiles bowl with green sauce. I got the El Fuego omelet, paired with home-style fries and a blueberry muffin. Inside the omelet is chorizo and jalapenos. It was certainly Fuego! The food was phenomenal. The silence was loud the moment we began eating, and that's our sign that we are truly enjoying the meal. We also ordered a mimosa flight, which was a fun and refreshing way to enjoy brunch. Overall, I'd say Broken Yolk is one of my favorite places for brunch. The food has never disappointed me! Looking forward to returning here with my boyfriend again.

Mary M.

Yelp
Alicia is the best waitress. She took our order perfectly and our food was prepared just as we had hoped it would be. At just the right time Alicia and crew sang the birthday song to me. A bonus is she has a great sense of humor. The patrons became part of the festivities. They sang along and offered greetings which I appreciate more than ever at 86 yrs old. Thank you Alicia and all for a great birthday breakfast.

Yelp
Excellent job , perfect service , friendly server . Will definitely come back again! Thanks to Sabino!

Yelp
Wonderful food and atmosphere. My favorite location because parking is ample and staff are so great! Sabino was amazing!

Yelp
Broken Yolk as always is so delicious and has huge portions. I'm always happy with the service when I come in but Sabino in particular made my day with his service and great personality. He let us know about the app and rewards for coming in and my friend and I got some delicious free pancakes that we otherwise would have completely missed out on. He had hustle and checked in with us the perfect amount of times. I am very happy with my brunch and I will be coming back!
