Google
We ate here twice during our five-day visit - breakfast here is so, so yummy! Service is fast and friendly. The lemon blueberry pancakes are absolutely divine. Everyone else at the table devoured everything quickly. Absolutely recommended!

Google
Loved the dining room setup with ample booths. Service was great, coffee right away when seated. And no wait at 8am. We had to try the Cinna-cake and it was available as a side item. The cream cheese topping was perfect ( not too sweet) with cinnamon topped pancake the size of a dinner plate. Yummy! Main dish was a Cali Breakfast Burrito which included avocado, egg, bacon and cheese. Salsa and rice+beans were a flavorful accompaniment.

Google
Hard to say anything bad about this place. There’s typically a line, so you need to plan accordingly but the food and service is always exceptional. Outdoor seating is comfortable and amusing, to say the least. I’ve eaten here a dozen times or so and it’s always consistent, and efficient.

Google
A diner-style breakfast/lunch gem in San Diego! The food here is delicious and well made. They have a variety of delectable and fun breakfast options. The food was flavorsome and hearty. Our server, Christian was engaging, friendly and attentive. Good vibes, large portions guaranteed to be filling and some delicious, customizable cocktail choices!

Google
Tried Broken Yolk Café for breakfast, and it was a decent experience. I ordered the Meat Lover Skillet, but it was just okay for me, mostly because it had a lot of potatoes, and I’m not a big fan. If you love potatoes, you might enjoy it more. My friend got the Ranchero Skillet, and he really liked it, so that one might be a better pick. Their juices were fresh and good, which was a nice touch. Overall, a decent spot, but I’d probably try something else next time!

Google
Nice brunch spot. We went on a Saturday morning and it was fairly busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Once we ordered the food came out super quick, like 5 minutes after we ordered. It tasted great!

Google
Loved our southern influenced breakfast here. I got one of the benedicts that was delicious, along with the bloody Mary flight...also good. Service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere and vibe was fun. Would back again.

Google
Fabulous food, amazing choices of eggs and multiple other dishes. Loved the atmosphere too. Certainly one of the best in San Diego.

Yelp
amazing food and service!! Owner took care of us and was so welcoming! Such an ama place with the best workers who truly love what they do.

Yelp
The menu options are amazing! It is rare for me to see so many items that looked so good. I settled on the chilaquiles since that is not an option usually available to me. Christian R, our waiter, was very attentive and made sure our waters were filled and that we were happy with our food! Our party of six loved our dining experience here and highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This place is average and deserves an average review. To be in a prime location and be average... this place has to step it up. The portions are SMALL. The sides are even SMALLER. Don't order a side of fries or home fries either. Then... when you check out... you have to walk to the front cashier, wait in a long line because your server can't cash you out. Like really??? Why even tip your server if they can't cash you out? We wasted 20 minutes in a line on a Monday, at 1pm this past week, to check out. I go to Broken Yoke in La Verne, CA so I know the difference. Don't waste your time at this place. This place was embarrassing. I wanted to give this Broken Yoke a 1 star but the Broken Yoke in La Verne called me and said be cool so I gave it a 2. Ya'll can thank me in advance. Go somewhere else for Brunch.

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim while passing by on a Sunday just before 11am. Looked like the wait would be long but only took about 10 minutes. It was very lively and fast paced in there. The service was good and everyone was friendly. For a chain restaurant, we enjoyed what we ordered (Monte Cristo, Sope Benedict, Sausage Links). However, the sope did need to be cooked a bit longer. Also ordered mimosa flights that were not pictured. They were decent sizes for a flight and weren't too over powered with juice.

Yelp
If you are passing by on your way and need to enjoy a yummy meal. Look no further, nice clean place , friendly and lots of parking. We enjoyed chilaquiles asada bowl and eggs Benedict the only original kind with Canadian bacon my friend is always excited to find a place that offers it.

Yelp
CREATIVE BRUNCH CAFE w/ a LIVELY ATMOSPHERE! You'll find Broken Yolk in the heart of Downtown SD near Petco Park. It's a Padres fan favorite decorated with the team's banners and home to unique breakfast selections. The Broken Yolk has a dish called the Sope Benedict which includes shredded beef and poached eggs, certainly something you don't see every day! I was thoroughly impressed with the high quality mimosa flights, it's a major recommendation from me. I had the lemonade mimosa and it was perfect. As for my breakfast, I had the Greek omelette with feta and olives, the meal was enjoyable but too salty due to the excessive use of olives. Also, the omelette kind of fell apart when it arrived. Service was solid, all the staff were professional and kind. I'd happily return, but wouldn't get the omelette!

Yelp
We stopped here for breakfast on our last morning in town. The service was wonderful. There were a lot of choices, from breakfast classics to skillets to omelets and benedicts to healthy side up and many more. Our eyes gravitated to the bloody mary flights for starter - 4 different types of bloody mary! Two of us got the choice of two benedicts. Both decided on the Golden State Benedict and Sope Benedict. Great choices. We ate every bite. We also got the Ranchero Skillet. It was delicious, with a big portion, and ate every bite. You can't go wrong here for deciding to dine here.

Yelp
They have an extensive menu. Stopped by for breakfast with friends and we were surprised by how many options they had. I kept it simple and class with a short stack of buttermilk pancakes and added the eggs and bacon. My scrambled eggs were a little crispy, which is my preference, I'm not sure others would be fans. My friend is vegetarian and ordered the avocado toast with feta cheese and a side of hash browns. She loved her food.

Yelp
Great diner for a perfect breakfast! They played 80s music the whole time, which set the mood. Lemon Ricotta pancakes were our appetizers. 1 out of 3 of us loved them (it was me). My main breakfast was border Benedict, corn cake with chorizo (sorry, no picture). That was tasty and different but very rich and filling. Monte Cristo on the menu, YES! It was excellent. We also had a breakfast sandwich. Such an enjoyable meal. BTW we got right in, even though many of the other restaurants in the area had long lines. It's slightly off the beaten path

Yelp
Great location. The food and service is fantastic. The omelette was delicious. Mile High was fantastic. I highly recommend the Broken Yolk

Yelp
The Broken Yolk in San Diego has always done breakfast right. I come here every time I'm in SD and it has never disappointed. The mimosa flights are amazing, the food is delicious, and the staff is always so friendly. The vibes are always chill and its such a nice place to dine at. Special shoutout to our waiter Oddy for being such an awesome waiter!
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Had brunch today at the broken yolk was served by Oddy. The staff was on it! Excellent service! The food was very good. Everything was on point! We had to sit outside because we had our four-legged family member and the heater didn't work, but they made up for it with wonderful service and food! I would recommend!!!! Service was exceptional Thank you!

Yelp
We loved this place so much the last time we were in town that we had to come back! This time I had the spicy vegan bowl. It was not too spicy and the picture of flavors were perfection. I'm not vegan, but I have an allergy to dairy and eggs and was able to eat here safely. The service was quick and we hardly had to wait for our food. I couldn't believe how big the drinks were when I ordered a Pepsi! The have a cute outdoor patio but decided to eat inside as it was a little chilly out. They serve their breakfast menu all day, but have some lunch options as well.

Yelp
I Love this place! The best breakfast and mimosa flights ever! My only complaint is they don't have any in the South Bay!!!!!! Please come to Redondo Beach!!!
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
Food was good and the atmosphere was nice as well! Our coffee was always full too ad the waitress was very attentive.

Yelp
As many times as I've passed Broken Yolk Cafe, this was my first time eating here. While it was Saturday brunch time, I wasn't sure how long the wait would be but it only ended up being about 5 min for 2 people. We were seated in the indoor part however they have a cute outdoor seating area and a second story loft. The environment was lively and the decor made it welcoming, I especially like the "we have huevos" sign. It was rather busy at this time and our service was quick and easy with our food coming out in about 5 minutes after ordering. We decided on the passion sunrise mimosa special, short stack pancakes and hash scramble. In my assessment, very tasty breakfast food - the pancakes were fluffy and buttery and the hash and scrambled eggs were just to my liking.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Isabellla was great!!! The food was delicious. Definitely would recommend. I got the Benedict.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast one morning. Given some of the other options that we had had, I kind of wish we had gone back to one of the places we had been before. The staff is friendly, so there are no issues with service. The issue was with the food. It just wasn't that impressive. It was a decent breakfast, but $45 for two people for what we had just seemed a little steep. I totally understand that when you are in a city that the prices are higher, I just expect the quality to match the price. If you are looking for an easy breakfast and service with a smile, there's nothing wrong with this place at all. It just wasn't the most impressive place I've ever been.

Conrad K.

Yelp
Service - slow, forgetful, not attentive Food - expensive and super mid. Got some eggs Benedict. They had 1 slice of avocado on each. Smoothie was really watered down. Unlimited coffee refills but they never came by to refill. This is basically expensive Denny's but worse. Go to Gas Lamp Breakfast company down the street, instead.
google avatar

Maryjo S.

Yelp
Visit here with Arizona Diamondbacks. The food was amazing! Christian went above and beyond! His smiles and personality made a great impact! He is so awesome! Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
The grub here is just okay. I wasn't feeling the hashbrowns from the online pics, so I went for the Mile High omelet with French fries instead. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. The Belgian Waffle had a nice crisp, which I do enjoy a lot. Generally, the food is standard diner fare--nothing too fancy. They've got indoor and outdoor seating, and the place has a simple and pleasant vibe. The waiter was cool and friendly. It's the kind of spot I wouldn't go out of my way to hit up again, but I also wouldn't have an objection if friends happen to decide to come here.
google avatar

Stacey W.

Yelp
Came here after Breakfast Company was closed due to a leak (a girl's gotta eat...) Got way too distracted by all the good things they had on the menu! I ended up with a short stack of lemon ricotta pancakes and my husband got a short stack of the cinna cake (?) pancakes with 2 strips of bacon and 2 scrambled eggs. Service was wonderful. Shout out to our waiter, whose name I did not catch, but he was wearing a Machado shirt and has been working there for 14 years. All in all, I'd be happy to go back. It's diner food without the diner feel (during and after eating) PS: check in on yelp to get 10% off your entire bill!
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
John W., is an awesome server!!! The service and food was phenomenal! He was very genuine with his attentive and friendly service! The Golden State Benedict, Chilaquiles Bowl and Cinna Cakes(cinnamon pancakes) were all very delicious! Never saw the bottom of our water glasses and coffee mugs!!! He gave us everything we needed with our leftovers to eat later!!! John W is a great asset to the restaurant!!! Thank you John for making our experience a great one!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite breakfast places in San Diego. I keep coming to this place every year and the quality and consistency of the food and service stays top notch which is fantastic. I love this place

Yelp
Great spot in SD for Food, service, and Ambiance.:) Food was very good with a good price too

Yelp
First time coming to The Broken Yolk. We went for a walk with my friend around our hotel and came across The Broken Yolk. We decide to grab some breakfast. As we walk in we were greeted by the nice host and who right sit us to our seat. Once seated we were greeted by Amy our waitress and took our drinks order and give my friend recommendations he end up getting the mimosa flight and got the chai ice latte. As for breakfast we end up getting the Sun-Up Breakfast Sandwich and the Mom omelet with their fresh made biscuit all can say it was amazing and delicious. Overall the place was great!
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
Came here on a short weekend vacation to San Diego. This one is located downtown and we came on a Friday morning so we easily found parking. They sat us down right away. Servers were nice, it was very fast paced. We ordered a few bendicts the border 3/10, weird combination, they use a corn bread with salsa and steak, didn't really like it. Also got a caprese by accident but it was the one I liked the most. We also tried the chicken and waffle Benedict also not too tasty, for me. I would come back to try other dishes, but not for the Benedicta.
google avatar

Nette B.

Yelp
Been here a few times. There was no wait so we decided to eat here. Service was good. Food: Feta Avocado Toast See photos of dishes my friends ordered. For me, the Avocado Toast is delicious. I always have this dish in Vegas. The French toast is another hit. All my friends enjoyed their meals. Overall, I'd definitely return.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
Wonderful location for breakfast in the Gaslamp area. This is the only Broken Yolk Café in San Diego with a full bar. The inside is very specious and they offer outdoor seating as well. Service was great too.
google avatar

Kathryn C.

Yelp
I ordered through Doordash and paid $16.85 for a BLT. It was so bad.. Take a look at the picture. It was soggy and had one piece of bacon on the entire sandwich. I could have made a better one at home. Wow was it bad. I also ordered a side of hash browns for $5.60 and they were not even cooked. Take a look at that picture. It was my first time here and I obviously will never come back. Believe me, it was inedible.

Natalia S.

Yelp
Nice peaceful morning to come eat at Broken Yolk Downtown. Our server was Oddy and he was amazing, super attentive and very friendly. Service is always amazing when we come eat. I got the Rancher Omelette as it has veggies and meat in it and my husband got the chilaquiles with green sauce, Oddy was kind enough to bring us 2 types of green sauce to see which one he preferred. Overall 5/5 for everything! We'll be back soon!!

Yelp
Does anyone remember that Facebook game Restaurant City where you had to manage a restaurant and make it run as smoothly as possible? And when it was going good, there was just this flow and everyone was happy? This was my experience with Broken Yolk Café on both occasions I was here. This has to be the most efficient restaurant I've ever been in. And the food was pretty good too! I was in town for a conference and they open early so I was able to get breakfast before it got crowded, go back to the hotel and chill out for a bit before heading to the conference center. From being seated, to ordering and receiving my food and checking out - it was a flawless process. I had a lot of fun watching the people working here - they're like a well oiled machine! I got to try the Border Benedict, Betty's Southern Biscuit & Gravy, and their pancakes while I was in town. Everything was delicious and the servings are huge and hearty. My coffee and water were always full and everyone working here was so nice. Love the self check out option too so you don't have to wait and can check out when you're ready.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast!! Stopped by this location for the first time (we've been to the one on Garnet lots of times). Perfect start to our busy day!! Yummy food, great customer service & awesome location (sat on outside patio to people watch). Hubby had breakfast tacos & I had blueberry pancakes & added bacon/eggs. Yummy!! Love the Broken Yolk!
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
The food and service is excellent! We enjoyed our time here and chose to make it our last stop on the way out of town! Oddy our waiter was super friendly and helpful :-)
google avatar

Gary B.

Yelp
Best eggs benidict I ever had. The food came out super fast and the waiter never let my coffee or water get too low. I'll be back
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
Maybe because we are here for a busy weekend but the food was unremarkable and the service was lack luster.
google avatar

Karlie L.

Yelp
Solid breakfast spot downtown that won't be a crazy wait. Staff is always friendly and the inside is spacious :) patio is also a nice vibe!

Ruben A.

Yelp
Do not use the wait list function to hold a table. We waited an hour and received live updates for when our table was ready. When it was ready and time to check in, the host curtly let us know that "Yelp was not sending them the information" and they would not honor the reservation. Poor service, poor communication.
google avatar

Leyang Z.

Yelp
An AMAZING restaurant in downtown San Diego. Due to some time limit I only had a bowl of berry yogurt parfait in it, but this single experience was impressive. The service was real quick. Just as I sat down, I was served with a huge glass of iced water. There were a number of staff walking around me so as soon as I was ready to order, they came to the table. After a few minutes I was eating the huge bowl of berry yogurt parfait, which contained yogurt as its base (vanilla yogurt I guess) , granola, strawberries and blueberries. The whole bowl was an awesome combination of sourness and sweetness. Plus, the fruit tasted fresh. The restaurant was a little bit loud because so many people ate and chat there. If you would like to experience a lively mornings at downtown San Diego, this restaurant would be a nice place to go to.
google avatar

Harmonie T.

Yelp
I honestly didn't expect a place called Broken Yolk to have a vegan option but they totally do! I ordered a Spicy Vegan Bowl to go and the amount of food that they give you is totally worth the value. The portion is so large, I ate it for two meals. Made with scrambled Just Egg, spinach, mushroom, onion, green and red peppers, potatoes, Beyond Italian sausage, avocado, and sriracha. I'm feeling so full just thinking about it again! https://bit.ly/3f5JajI Could I make this at home? Probably. But I was away from home, in town while Hubby was on a work trip to San Diego, and this Vegan Bowl was super good! San Diego's vegan breakfast game is so legit! Would def order this again.
google avatar

Nora A.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. Hardly any wait time and we were there on a Sunday morning.
google avatar

Ivan M.

Yelp
Food (taste and variety) : 10/10 Vibe: Family oriented, but also offers delicious cocktails for those who prefer a mimosa with the breakfast Service: Flawless, fast, and you never wait more than a minute for a coffee refill. My wife and kid came here and were greeted and seated in less than five minutes. Once seated, our server, Serafin, greeted us and brought drinks in less than a minute. I asked him for recommendations and he did not miss. We ordered the Sopes Benedict, Chilaquiles Bowl, and Cinnamon Pancakes and they all hit it out of the park. Serafin kept our glasses full the entire time and took amazing care of us. I would come to eat breakfast and brunch here every day of the week. Hands down, one of the bright spots of San Diego. I was left incredibly impressed and will definitely be coming back.

Susan C.

Yelp
Juan Camorlinga is a fantastic human and terrific manager. He could not have been more welcoming!!!! What an asset to your organization!!! Service and food were great!!!
google avatar

Rachael W.

Yelp
Our server was the sweetest at this location, she repeated our orders back to us and the food came out in a timely manner. The ambiance of this place is definitely brunch like and we were able to enjoy the conversations we had without us having to shout across the table which was nice because we did have a big group. The food overall was delicious, however the portion sizes could have been a little bigger for the price we paid.
google avatar

Dom M.

Yelp
Alright Broken Yolk.... You're up. Given this is a chain you expect it to be a mid level experience that comes with the typical cookie cutter breakfast joint. Not the case. I gotta give it to his company, whether it's in downtown, Point Loma or elsewhere, the experience and consistency of their food is always there and pleasant. The pricing to the portions you get is solid and the options are great. Nothing too wild where you're having to study the menu for 30 min and the meals always taste fresh. Specifically the downtown San Diego location, surrounded by other "niche" breakfast spots, this one doesn't disappoint on both ends of the spectrum for food and service... which leads me to my next shout out... This by no means is a slow paced venue. As a local to the area living just up the block I always see it busy and when I stop in, there always a crowd. With that being said, service is always prompt, friendly and the food comes out fast and hot and accurate to order. That level of consistency really speaks to how the management and workers take their job. From a coffee and breakfast lover, check this place out. It's got plenty of options and you won't get stuck waiting for food or drinks. Also, shout out to Cristal for great service during the Sunday Brunch rush hour!

Ashley M.

Yelp
The omelette was very good. Also, the iced coffee here was amazing. I wish I knew what brand of coffee it was. This is a cute brunch spot.
google avatar

Darren C.

Yelp
Good tasting food! We were seated quickly. Greeted by server immediately. Right after we ordered, our food showed up very quickly. Food was delicious and large portions. We were always being attended to make sure everything was good. Very friendly, good experience!
google avatar

Tatiana M.

Yelp
I was very excited for this! However I was let down by the flavor. I didn't even finish it which is saying a lot for an eggs benedict. The fried chicken was a lot lower quality than I was expecting. And the hollandaise was okay. Idk if I'm going to be coming back. This was my 2nd time and both times were underwhelming. The atmosphere was beautiful and fun. The service was great. I just wish the food matched
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Went early this morning so we did not need to wait. Ample variety for different people's tastes. Food and service are both excellent, we were all stuffed.
google avatar

Pearl S.

Yelp
When I'm in town this is my mimosa and breakfast spot. The flights give you a taste all flavors. Yummy !!
