35 minute wait to get a table, but that seems to be normal when visiting a brunch spot on a Saturday. The restaurant was very busy. We waited 6 minutes to put in our drink orders, and they came out in 7 minutes. My companions ordered bloody Mary's, coffee, and a messy cuppachino. All were given great reviews. We waited 7 minutes to put in our food order, and the food was received 18 minutes after. The food was a 5/10. The gravy was taseless, and the eggs too thick in the croissant sandwich. The croissant was not flaky ir airy. The eggs Benedict was okay, very lukewarm. The turkey sausage was delicious. The avocado salmon toast was oily, and the salmon was lukewarm and a bit fishy. The french fries were golden and crispy. The biscuits on the biscuits and gravy were well baked and very good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Very hustle and bustle. The booths were comfortable. There are plenty of benches inside and outside the restaurant for waiting patrons. The bathrooms were very clean. The parking lot is large and we had no trouble finding a spot.

Had a fantastic lunch experience at Broken Yolk in Santee. The food was delicious, and the little details make a difference—their freshly brewed iced tea was perfect. The highlight was our server, Anthony. He did an excellent job of making sure our meal was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We always enjoy coming here for breakfast or lunch, and today was no exception!

The food here is simply outstanding. I ordered the Border Benedict, and it was a revelation. The perfectly poached eggs, seasoned carne asada, and homemade poblano sauce over sweet corn cakes was a combination of flavors I won't forget. My dining companion had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, which were fluffy, decadent, and tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll in pancake form. The portions are more than generous, ensuring you get great value for your money. While they were busy, as any popular brunch spot should be, our food arrived quickly, hot, and fresh. The coffee was excellent and kept flowing, which is crucial for a leisurely brunch. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Broken Yolk is a must visit. Parking is easy, energy and atmosphere is bright and welcoming, service was quick. Maria was a fantastic waitress and anticipated our every need. The food is the same as the other Broken Yolk locations - a bit pricy for the quality, but the portions are large.

Maria was amazing! Our food came out in minutes and each item we asked for was made exactly how we liked it. My husband is a sauce person and she made sure we had all the sauces and things we needed without us confirming or re-requesting. This is definitely our new breakfast spot when we visit San Diego

Had brunch for my cousin’s birthday on Monday. The bottles of champagne kept coming, service was great, food was delicious… what a fun place to brunch with some friends! Nikki, the bartender, is pretty awesome too!

Every time I've been there, Maria has been incredibly friendly, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walk in. What truly sets her apart is her amazing ability to remember our orders—it's such a personal touch that makes you feel valued as a customer. She's also remarkably fast and efficient, getting food and drinks out quickly without ever compromising on accuracy. And through it all, she remains incredibly attentive, always seeming to know when we need a refill or an extra napkin. Look at this perfectly cooked stack of GBD, golden brown and delicious, onion rings. I'm not a huge onion ring fan, but the side of these made me want to dig in. I should have ordered my own set.

Had breakfast at Broken Yolk and it was really good. The food came out fast, everything was hot, and the portions were huge. I got the flat bread barbacoa taco and it hit the spot. The staff were super friendly and checked on us. Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long and everything felt organized. The place is clean and has a nice, laid-back vibe. Overall, great spot for breakfast. Good food, big portions. Definitely will be back!

Huge Portions & Delicious Machaca! Stopped in for a quick breakfast at The Broken Yolk in Santee, and it was fantastic! We ordered the Machaca Eggs with refried beans and rice. It was absolutely delicious--the machaca was perfectly seasoned, and the sides were spot on. Key takeaway: The portion size was HUGE! Seriously, it was enough for two people, so we had plenty to share. Excellent value for the quality and quantity of food. If you're looking for a hearty, traditional breakfast that will fill you up, I highly recommend their machaca! We will definitely be back.

In the Santee shopping center sits this grade A breakfast spot! I really liked this spot! Upon walking in you notice the decor right away, very well put together for a breakfast joint! Immaculately clean inside and out. Restrooms look amazing! Tables were all clean, busters stay busy and moving with smiles on their face. The bang for the buck here is it for sure!! Was very pleased with the portions of all plates! I had the mom omelette rich is loaded with greens and mushrooms, not everyone's taste but it's definitely mine! If you're gonna try to get healthy for the first day start this is not a bad choice!! DELICIOUS and flavorful!!! My daughter got the Cinni Stack pancakes and tore it up! My girlfriend's son had the Mickey pancakes from the kids menu, my girlfriend had the açaí bowl and they both loved them. The bowl was filled to the top. The service was amazing! We got the pleasure of dealing with Maria as our server. She was sooooo tentative and try welcoming!!! I will definitely be coming back not only because food but for Maria's service!! The restaurant looks clean and has ample of space to sit inside and out. The staff were attentive and friendly. We were with a big party and they were able to sit us pretty quick on a busy Saturday morning. We all ordered different items and everyone was content. My breakfast was huge and it was well-seasoned. I would go back.

The ambience was amazing. The service was also very excellent our server. Maria took very good care of us and couldn't have asked for better breakfast food.

We had the BEST experience thanks to our server/bartender, Angel. From the moment we sat down, he took care of us like no one ever has. His attention to detail was on point, his recommendations were spot-on, and he made sure we never needed to ask for a thing. Angel was so personable, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around. You can tell he loves what he does because it absolutely shows in the quality of service he provides. On top of that, one of the owners, Bill, came over to our table and made us feel so welcomed. He was amazing--warm, genuine, and truly made us feel like valued guests. It's rare to see an owner so involved and present, and it made our experience even more memorable. If you're coming here, do yourself a favor and ask for Angel. Between Angel's exceptional service and Bill's welcoming presence, this place sets the bar HIGH. Highly, highly recommend!

The food was great - except the plates had fingerprints but they weren't the servers as they were wearing gloves. Also could have been a bit kinder just generic service.

Everything we expected. The food looked amazing. The environment was booming and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The bloody Mary's and the mimosas looked fabulous, but didn't get to try them. It was only 9:30 in the morning lol. Here's a few of the dishes that we tried. My husband did not like the French toast, triple Due to the coconut and the crunchy French toast, but they were kind enough to take it off the ticket.

Recent visit to Broken Yolk went smoothly as we joined the wait list through Yelp on the way there. By the time we found a parking spot and started walking towards the restaurant, we received a text that our table was ready. I ordered the Mom Omelette and added the patty sausage. The Mom omelette was tasty but it just had too much onion and tomato for me. I was hoping more spinach would be in it. I'll request that next time and maybe they can accommodate? My husband ordered the meat lover's skillet and said it was delicious as well but wished the portion size was bigger so he requested to add chorizo to it. We had a good experience and would likely return.

Great food , great service when you eat at the restaurant.. BUT when it's a to-go order they have consistently missed items . Sometimes it's a main dish all together and sometimes it's side items you order. Disappointing.

I had heard a lot of good things about this place, and walking in I was impressed--the restaurant was clean, and the service staff was courteous. Unfortunately, the food fell short of expectations. My hashbrowns, sausage, and omelet arrived lukewarm (if not cooler), with the biscuit being the only item served hot. Since the restaurant was busy, I decided to go ahead and eat my meal. I may give it another try in the future, hoping for a better experience. Fingers crossed!

Omelettes are amazing. We come here at least twice a week. Service is always on point. The owner is friendly and inviting. My daughter loves the crepes. Coffee never lets us down.

Amazing attentive service and great food! Broken Yolk Cafe is a very popular breakfast joint, and after one visit, it's easy to see why! Despite how busy it was, our server was friendly and very attentive. They continually checked on us and offered refills without issue. I ordered their eggs Benedict and it was perfect! I can't speak for the alcoholic beverages but everyone in my group seemed to enjoy their mimosas and their food as well. Highly recommend this spot!

Met a friend here for breakfast. She had injured her wrist in a fall evacuating a hotel during a fire alarm. Unable to use her right hand she asked if they could cut her avocado toast. Though they don't normally do so they accommodated her and cut it for her. I thought that was very courteous! Our waiter, Anthony M., was very good & attentive. I love the fact they have a large outdoor covered patio (west facing) and I look forward to returning here in warmer weather and sitting outside for breakfast!

Visited Broken Yolk yesterday after running some morning errands. Wait time wasn't too long around 30min. This location is surrounded by other stores/ target so we took the time to walk around for a little bit. Before we knew it it was time to head back. I opted for the buttermilk pancake combo which included eggs, bacon or sausage. I also decided to get the mimosa flight, which was delicious and refreshing. Hubby decided to get eggs Benedict, which was also good . The service was great, our server was attentive. Everything came out pretty quick too. Will definitely come back!

Just felt like breakfast today so I ventured into the Broken Yolk. I'd say it's all ok, certainly not stellar. I got the classic Benedict which had decent flavors however, the ham was much thicker than I like and the hollandaise was on the edge of breaking. I understand eggs Benedict is a difficult dish to master, but I just kind of expected a little more from a renowned brunch place. I will say the eggs were cooked perfectly. No runny white but 100% runny yolk.

Me and my aunt saw this place on a TikTok for best food spots in San Diego and man am I happy we went here. The food is so freaking delicious! The photos and reviews did not lie!! This place is beautiful with fantastic staff and food! This place is EXTREMELY busy so definitely reserve in advance if you could or else you can see yourself waiting up to thirty minutes for a table. This place is in a shopping center so you can stroll around if you want to. But the food is definitely worth the wait! Service: The staff here are extremely friendly, funny, and fast! They have great recommendations, whilst also accommodating to customers. There was a child there who had gotten all A's on his report card and one of the servers got everyones attention and had made us give the child a round of applause which was very nice of that man! As for accommodation -- my aunt ordered a drink but she didn't know there was liquor in it and the manager took it off our bill and gave us another drink! That was very sweet of her! Food: Wild west burger [5/5] The burger was juicy and the sauces complement the sandwich well. Cooked to perfection and the onion rings were crispy and tasted so sweet they were absolutely to die for! Tiki Toast [5/5] This toast is FANTASTIC!! It tastes like heaven. It's so sweet and succulent! The syrup was amazing and the berries were a great touch. I would HIGHLY recommend this. The presentation was beautiful as well. Everything about this meal was just chefs kiss! Waffle sandwich [5/5] This sandwich was so delicious. I don't know how their waffles are made but the waffle is amazing! It tastes sweet yet savory at the same time! The whole sandwich just felt like it was melting in your mouth this is one of the best bacon egg and cheeses I've ever had. Iced Messy caramel macchiato [5/5] This was amazing! Add some creamer and oat milk and this is best macchiato you'll ever have. I enjoyed this drink so much I was sad I didn't buy another one but it was very delicious! The food was just out of this world and I'd recommend to stop by here! Ambiance: The store is beautiful and spacious. It's very cozy. I like the layout of the building. Theres also outdoor seating! Overall, this place is fantastic and I'd 100% recommend to everyone. The food is top notch, the service is nice, and the staff is friendly. Everything about this restaurant was great you have to go here! I'll definitely be back in the future!!

Stopped by the Broken Yolk in Santee for breakfast and had a great experience thanks to my server, Anthony. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just the way I ordered it. I got the American Breakfast with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sourdough toast, and golden hash browns -- everything was hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The bacon had that perfect crunch, and the hash browns were crispy all the way through. He kept the coffee coming and checked in at all the right times without stopping by too often. Great service from Anthony and Kathy! I'll definitely be back!

Thankfully found this spot while driving and it did not disappoint. The pictures online helped a lot so we decided to stop by here. When we arrived, I ordered the Churro French Toast with scrambled eggs and sausages, as well as their Messy Caramel Latte. Figured go out and treat myself on our last day in SD. The french toast was HUGE, which makes sense for the price of the order. The caramel latte was like any other caramel latte, but still good nonetheless. I didn't take enough pictures of the rest of the food or place, but will say it was a very good family-friendly spot that had good service and friendly employees. They'd check occasionally if we needed anymore coffee or water and were very accommodating. It honestly takes a lot for my family to not like a breakfast or brunch place, and this was no disappointment.

Brunch at the Broken Yolk Cafe and loved it! I tried the American breakfast with two eggs, corned beef hash, fries (unique) a blueberry muffin, and chai tea, everything was delicious. My friend ordered the Sope Benedict, fresh fruits, and a pumpkin latte, which she really enjoyed. Just a heads-up: weekends are always packed, so it's best to make a reservation. We waited over 30 minutes, but it was worth it. We got a perfect spot, enjoyed great food, a nice ambiance, and good service.

Came here for Mother's Day breakfast. Thank god we went on waitlist because it was packed and we were seated relatively quickly. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy our meal with our kids being rowdy so we boxed it up but the service was great and our server was outstanding and great dealing with our challenges. I'd come back just off that to really enjoy the food fresh.

The staff (all of them) are always friendly and helpful, the best! The food was delicious. Accommodating of our desired time, taking part of our party while the others were on their way. Typically we have to wait for the entire party to arrive. This was a pleasant surprise.

We had a party total of 8. We had a reservation and they noted about an 2 hour wait - so we left to drink at another bar to come back. This is by far completely our own fault by the way. But when we got back, they had called our name and our reservation was given up which sucked so we re-enlisted or whatever. The host or manager understood our situation and they were able to accommodate all 8 of us by getting these 2 open tables (one set inside and the other next to it but outside). So it was pretty cool how they still fit us in - we had to wait a little bit more which is understandble. The food was pretty good - I can't say its the greatest but it isn't the worse either. I got the Monte Cristo. It was my first Monte Cristo ever and oh my lanta my sweet tooth ass was lovin' every bite. And I got a mimosa flight which was fantastic. All the sugar in the world and what more could I ask for? If you've never had a Monte Cristo before, I suggest it if you have a sweet savory tooth. I barely finished it and felt bad tho so it might be a lot to take in. Just be sure to bring tums.

Figure out your TV situation.... Been coming here nearly every weekend for 3 years and decided to come watch the Chargers game with my son, only to find that only the TV at the bar was playing it. Was not a big ask but clearly became a problem. I'll eventually be back but it'll be a while before we venture back here..

It was a Saturday morning when we decided that we wanted some breakfast. but didn't want to cook it. Off to Broken Yolk we went. We found two seats at the bar where Emily was our friendly and cute barkeep. Mimosa for Becky and a breakfast beer - Modelo - for me. After perusing the very extensive breakfast menu, I landed on the Belgian Waffle $11.95 and made it a combo by adding scrambled eggs and two sausage patties for $5.25 extra. Bex ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with scrambled eggs, home fries and sourdough toast $17.95. The waffle was as delicious as it was huge. It had a nice crispy exterior that gave way to an excellent soft interior. It had a dusting of powdered sugar and a dollop of whipped butter. I really wish they served it with warmed maple syrup. As it is now, the syrup is in the condiment tray with the ketchup, etc. on the table/bar at room temperature. My scrambled eggs were on point. Fluffy and tasty. The bottled hot sauce on the table was excellent and gave the eggs a nice boost. The sausage patties, unfortunately, were regrettable. They were wafer thin and tasteless. They were just thin, grey meat discs. Typically if given the choice I prefer patty to link. I would not get these again. Becky's meal was really good. The eggs were fluffy and tasty like mine were. We both love Broken Yolk's take on home fries. Potatoes cut into slices. A nice crispy brown edge. Seasoned well, very good. The CFS was breaded and fried perfectly. Tender, not at all dry. The sausage gravy left a little to be desired. Definitely could be more peppery. One shouldn't have to add pepper to sausage gravy. Bex mentioned that it should contain more sausage bits as well. Not quite as good as it was during a previous visit. Also they could be a little more generous with it. I'd like it to cover most if not all of the steak. The toast was plentiful and properly toasted. We had to ask for jam/jelly though. Portion sizes were huge. Emily provided solid service. The "DirecTV" screen saver bouncing around the screen on the TV at the bar was annoying. Tune into sports or turn if off. LOL!
