13 Quiet Patios Because This Is All Still A Bit Much - London - The Infatuation

"It’s Sunday. And the only thing you’re in the mood for right now is scrambled eggs, some fresh OJ, and absolutely no David Guetta. Whether you went too far with the sesh, or if just the thought of being that close to other sweaty humans makes you itch for some hand sanitiser and alone time, Brompton Food Market has got your back. This lowkey grocery and deli in South Kensington has a covered secret garden situation which is serving up some solid brunch dishes. And as well as that, they’re open till 8pm in the summer, so you can enjoy a cocktail in their hidden garden." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak

5 Great Things To Eat In South Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"Like eating ice cream in bed or getting a nipple piercing during your punk phase, having brunch in South Kensington just makes sense. A classic Saturday morning game plan is fuelling up on tasty things, so that you have enough emotional and physical strength for a day of shopping and checking out the latest exhibitions. On that note, we give you Brompton Food Market. Tucked behind Thurloe Place, this lowkey grocery and deli has a covered secret garden situation which serves big-deal brunch dishes. In our humble opinion, their full English is one of the best in west London. Don’t skip the smoothies either. Or get involved in the shakshuka at buzzing coffee spot, Fernandez and Wells. If that place happens to be characteristically rammo, then you also can’t go wrong with a lowkey brunch situation at the homely café inside the Institut Francais, Café Tangerine." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Google
what a nice place with secret garden in the city center. What a amazing team, you can feel their professionalism and friendliness. What amazing food. I love the breakfast, frech toast and cornbread , which give me energy to start my day! I really recommend this place to everyone!

Quite possibly the best sandwich ever, not just in London, I mean anywhere. The rare roast beef sandwich has the most delicate and perfect bread, with lovely olive oil and pesto hidden within on the top and spiced mayo on the bottom, pickled onions, complimenting arugula, and moist, tender, beef I'll be dreaming about this for a long time 😁. I'm told the sauteed mushroom and sourdough dish with added smoked salmon was also excellent 👌. If we had more time in the area, this would certainly make the short list. Did I mention how good the sandwich was 😜.

Google
Nice place in the area, many choices. We had cooked breakfast and the flavour was fine, Great service and really nice courtyard at the back. Salads option looked really appealing and pastries/cakes were other options.

Three main seating areas- indoor , outside Garden isn’t that nice, it’s basically back of the building with rubbish bags in the background and unkempt garden of the neighbour house. Seating was uncomfortable as on garden furniture with cushions but really need back cushions too. Offers free water off the tap. Breakfast selection diverse- Avocado on seeded bread was ok- on the tasteless side. The tropical thunder smoothie was good . The toilets are downstairs- do pass the kitchen on the way and can have a look in- looked clean. Service was good.

Little gem in South Kensington for brunch. Coffee was very good but the Bloody Marry was a bit of a letdown. Too much ice but not enough flavour. The full breakfast was delicious. Only wish their service is a tiny bit more efficient. Remember to book if you’d like to be seated indoor.

Great place to have a cosy breakfast. We recommend breakfast set and cheesecake, both amazing. Breakfast burrito was good, but a little bland. Really good coffee, great service. Nice interior. You can come here with a dog.

Atmosphere, great food and plenty of choice. A lovely place to unwind or bring a date to. Perfect brunch destination. There is a huge back area for seating too.

Google
I just want to point out the way the staff's faces lit up when we decided to enter, this little gesture added so much to the experience! We sat inside so we can charge our phones, but we did see their beautiful 'Secret Garden' and next time we'll for sure take a seat there! The smoothies were fantastic and the atmosphere was just so worm and cozy!

Yelp
This place was so tasty and super cute inside. They have a variety of coffees and cocktails, I went for the flat white. For breakfast I had the jalapeño cornbread. It came with chorizo and an egg. It was slightly spicy and super tasty. My sister had the full breakfast and enjoyed that, not quite as heavy as the typical full English. It was a very good stop, I'd recommend it!

Yelp
A great spot for lunch and breakfast. We dropped in recently before a visit to the V&A. Burrata with parma ham and tomatoes was delicious. The tomatoes were high quality and flavourful. Flavours were balanced and intense with the addition of pesto dressing. A toastie with garlic mushrooms was likewise delicious. Portions were large. We sat in a small garden in the back. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
I'd really been looking forward to coming here. Finally made it and was so underwhelmed. Portions were tiny, especially considering the price. It's not that chichi a place to warrant paying so much for so little. The outside space is cute and much bigger than expected but it's kinda basic/rustic. I wish I could compliment more but the food was just ok, though presented well. Service was really slow - even though they seemed to have lots of staff wandering around.

Yelp
We came here for lunch when it was absolutely freezing outside. We ordered the meatball sandwich and the stew which were good. Nothing special, but the food was nice.

Yelp
Love this place! Tried their full breakfast; American way bacon , tried their chili jam. Well balance Anericano. They offered many homemade foods...

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant lunch in the back courtyard. They were excellent with the service and the food was really good. I got the satay chicken sandwich which had a good flavor.

Yelp
Sat for almost 30 minutes without our food while others who came after us got their mains. The waitress was surprised we didn't get it even thought she's standing next to us the whole time. The manager is "sorry" that the ticket "got lost" even thought we got the coffee and starter. Not the first time this happens where the ticket is "lost". Restaurants and cafes sometimes do this to move along some customers quickly. Expect this to happen if you're not white. Brompton food market is obviously one of those places.

Yelp
I can't believe I almost left out this hidden gem we visited during our stay in London. This is one of the most pleasant find for breakfast / brunch that we had found when we were there. I was in search for English breakfast ( how could I not as a visitor) and I have came across this place and the famous breakfast restaurant on the main street where there was a line ( I couldn't even re call the name of that place, it's not important) this was quite a hard place to find since the streets in London are quite small and curvey ( compare to what we have in the US) we almost gave up looking for it but I was so glad that we didn't. It was one of the most memorable meal I had there. We ordered the full breakfast and the breakfast brulee, some coffee and tea and even a curry chicken sandwich to go ( since we didn't know when we will actually eat again) they were all amazingly fresh and good. It seemed like a simple dishes with scramble eggs, smashed avocado, smoke bacon and yogurt. But they all had a magical touch of the freshness of ingredients. And a berries granola yogurt with a topping of brulee?? I was in heaven !! Well of course, I am a creme brulee lover, so its nor hard for me to love that. But it was just such an healthy version to enjoy caramelized sugar :) Not to mention, it has a very quaint, tuck away and easy vibe in such a busy city. It just brought back all the good memories of traveling there. Wish they had some place like this in the states.

Yelp
The place is so cozy, Fresh & organic food. The portions are more small than usual but really tasty. Good menu, good options. Vegan options

Yelp
First rate - quality food and service every time. Nice basement and heated / cooled patio seating if you need some charming romance added to your meal! This is the best breakfast/lunch establishment in the immediate area.

Yelp
Ordered the assorted salads option plus a cappuccino and it was amazing. 3 of the 4 salads are probably among the best I've ever had (the aubergine salad was to die for!) and the last one was still good. The atmosphere in the basement was also very cozy, which was welcome for the winter.

Yelp
We didn't select outdoor table in the garden but had a seat inside because it was chilly morning. Coffee and french toast with some bacon were brilliant.

Yelp
Fresh home made food with different varieties. Must visit and must try here! Delicious!

Yelp
Charming little place. We were staying at the Ampersand next door, looking for a place for lunch. This place offered a nice variety of items, including healthier options. We ordered the BBQ sandwich, and a ham and cheese sandwich. Everything was really good. The outdoor patio in the back was very charming and peaceful - a nice respite from busy London bustle.

Yelp
The Brompton Food Market is a little hidden gem in the big city. The shop is located in South Kensington. The "secret (winter) garden" in the back is peaceful, calm, and serene. My friend and I loved the heated area with the sheep-skin cushions and the cozy blankets. There is also indoor seating in the basement/cellar. This shop has a little of everything for the foodie in you...butcher, deli, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, British cheeses, charcuterie, wine, and unique high-quality food items. The gentleman made us a beautiful cheese platter and he paired it perfectly with wine for a little afternoon break from a day at the nearby museums. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Also, this is the perfect spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. www.bromptonfoodmarket.com

Yelp
Brompton Food Market looks like a mini version of Wholefoods, right down to the vegetable misting. I popped in after a visit to the V&A hoping for a quick fix sandwich ... no ready to take away food here, and I just didn't have time to make my own this time around. Probably more targeted at locals arriving home to South Ken tube who look for a healthier option than Tesco Metro - not so useful for passers-through.

Yelp
Consistently tasty food, great healthy and vegan options and hardworking staff. Their salad selection is delicious, I have tasted all of them and they sometimes have new options and specials which are usually good too. Love the ambience, its cozy and casual, prefect for brunch and lunch

Yelp
Great menu, helpful staff, and cute atmosphere. Wonderful place to pop in and have brunch. The back patio is quaint and the shop up front has cute kitchen and home goods.

Yelp
If you want a cozy lunch place with awesome food, here it is!! The patio is charming and warmed by heaters! The wait staff was kind! A great stop if you are in this area!

Yelp
This is the kind of place that you go in and hope it is full of people because you fear it closing down. Great place to buy cheese and meats for a picnic in Hyde Park. Stop on the way home in South Ken station and grab some Chorizo for breakfast. Great staff. Great quality. Wish they were next door to me.
