4 Restaurants to Try This Weekend in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"In Tustin this shop skews decisively East Coast with long, soft Italian-style sandwiches: think roast beef with Muenster or the Boss with capicola, salami, mortadella, provolone, and olive spread — there are also loaded fries and pastrami options, but at heart it’s an earnest, workaday corner for classic Italian sandwiches." - Eater Staff

Google
Not sure what is happening at this Tustin location, but they are dropping the ball hard. I am a regular customer (started as a loyal customer to the Anaheim location before I relocated near Tustin), but today's experience will make me reconsider. I had a cold sandwich and a cookie for lunch and they were BOTH awful. The bread was extremely hard - clearly old and left out. It was not edible. The cookie tasted old/stale too. It was pretty gross. This is not the quality I expected from Bronx. I'm not sure I'll eat there again soon or ever after today's gross experience, but I hope they get it together.

I stopped by this spot on a whim, primarily drawn in by the enticing name—after all, I’ve always loved Sandos on the East Coast, and they're a bit harder to come by out here. The atmosphere is charming and has a distinct Californian vibe that adds to the experience. However, my visit was slightly marred by the demeanor of the gentleman at the register, who came across as quite stern; he might be better suited for back-of-house duties than front-of-house interactions. On the bright side, the pricing for the sandwiches was reasonable, though I found the portion size of the fries a bit disappointing—definitely opt for the house-made chips instead; they're a much better choice! As for the food, the pastrami sandwich was flavorful and utterly delicious—it certainly didn't disappoint. The tuna sandwich, while more typical, featured fresh bread that elevated the overall experience. Overall, it’s a cute spot worth visiting, just be prepared for a no-frills interaction at the counter!

Google
Just got home with our order, started digging in & right away could taste something weird in my sandwich. We placed a to-go order of 3 Bronx Clubs & the one I received, the avocado smelled rancid (bad) so I opened it up & my first piece was hard as a rock & when I checked the other half they were all black. NOT EDIBLE! We've been coming to this location for a while now dining in & to-go & this is the first time I've ever gotten a bad sandwich!! & it hurts even more since prices are up & wouldn't expect to be receiving bad products from this spot.

Google
They keep adding cheese when you ask for no cheese causing us to not eat the sandwich and have to throw it away. This is the second time. Please work on fixing your system so the cooks can read these requests. If this continues one more time we’ll have to stop coming.

Google
Very disappointed in the food…..we had The Hitman and The Boss. Extremely dry, very little meat or flavor. The “hot sandwich” wasn’t hot as one would expect. It’s a cold baguette with the cheese just melted on top of room temperature meat. The young man who took our order was GREAT though!! Super helpful, professional and friendly. Bummer….its such a great location and vibe but I would never come back to order this sandwich again.

Google
I just had the most epic tuna sandwich what I was craving you for and I found it at Bronx Sandwich in Tustin! This place is the real deal - their tuna sandwich is so good, it'll make you forget all about your adulting problems (at least for a few bites). The drinking fountain is like a soda sommelier, with more options than a Netflix menu. And on the side they have house-made chips - they're like a flavor bomb just waiting to blow your taste buds away not to salty. Sure, the sandwiches are a little pricier than your average fast food joint, but trust me, it's worth it. Bronx Sandwich is keeping it real (and delicious) even in these hard times. would tuna again!

Google
This is a relatively new place. The Bronx Sandwich Co has a lot of really hearty sandwiches. The place is in a good location, close to a couple of major streets, the only down-side is that the parking lot can get a little crowded during busy times. But you’ll usually find a spot in a minute or two. My favorites here are: The Bronx Club, King of Queens, The Mobster and the B.B.Q. Brisket (pictured in my review). I’ve had other sandwiches and they’re all good, but these are my favorites. I have tried the salads as well, and they’re fine. But their strong offerings are the sandwiches for sure. The fries are also delicious, I always get them well-done and they come out super crunchy. Definitely a place to come back regularly.

My brother always complains they put in too much meat, so if you love meat, this is definitely it. Their specialty is Pastrami. The picture I added here is West Coast. East Coast has a little more meat they said; however, I didn't fancy the shrimp one. I strongly advise to skip it. If you like hot dog, Slobby Bronx should be your choice. They shoved in a lot of french fries inside the sandwich. A Caution! It takes a little bit of time to get your order, so I strongly advise place an phone order first. Bon Appetit!

Yelp
yelpers 4 stars is about right. I was in the area hungry for pastrami and I remembered someone recommended this place. I got a pastrami and a corn beef Reuben with a side of cole slaw. The pastrami on rye was good but not great. I think they overcooked the pastrami a bit and the rye bread was bland. Since there are better pastrami places I can't see myself recommending it. However the corn beef reuben on a french roll was surprisingly good and I do recommend that. the meat itself was flavorful and the bread was really nice. So this place was good enough for me to make a return. I will definitely order this corn beef again.

Yelp
OMG!! We stumbled onto this place by accident and were wonderfully surprised!! The sandwiches are excellent! The house made potato chips are SO good! The Bronx is now one of our favorite places for lunch!! Love this place and the staff provide excellent customer service!!

Yelp
The site - Free standing small building with steps to get inside There is a covered patio outside and a few tables inside Difficult mini-mall to access and exit to from Newport Avenue Sometimes near impossible parking Food - Actually I've only ordered the corned beef. It seems every other small deli has pastrami. but not corned beef. You can choose sourdough bread or rye, and I love mine warmed/grilled. It smells good and lots of flavor. I sometimes order fries, but only if I order in (you can call in your order, too) I like my fries crispy and fresh cooked so I would rather wait for it than it to be pre-packed and possibly soggy. I also really like their cole slaw and sometimes order a large container to take home. I also enjoy their cookies. Overall a good quick lunch, but it's easiest to park and eat after the busy lunch hours. You've got to compete with the Chang Ahn and Tustin Brewery crowd for parking.

Yelp
The location is easy to spot from the street and the interior decor is nice. I went to Bronx sandwich with a few friends for lunch and we enjoyed the authenticity of the deli. I had the New York with provolone instead of the Muenster cheese and the bread was nice and crispy. The order was completed quickly and the cashier was friendly. I will gladly return here in the near future.

Yelp
5/5...yummy high quality sandwiches in Lafayette plaza....The Bronx sandwich and cheese filly steak is smth different! The service was great. The ambiance was ok but I'll be honest inside the restaurant it was very hot! Im not sure because we went 40 minutes before closing but we weren't able to sit inside. there is sitting area outside so im not going remove a star for being hot inside because the quality and taste were super...There is parking lot outside...i also would like to add that the front door wasnt accessible (Stair) and i didnt see another entrance door so this is smth to keep in mind.

Yelp
I love these sandwiches! Their house chips are soooo good too! I use to DoorDash them all the time to my work and feed my team. They all loved that it felt like a traditional deli sandwich rather than (no shade) a subway sandwich. My favorites: cold sandwich: Bronx club or the Boss hot sandwich: sloppy Bronx or hitman. Sides: chips or fries. I give it four stars becauseeeeee, we sat outside and it was a bit stinky. Like bad pipes.

Yelp
Our office ordered sandwiches from Bronx for lunch today. They did a good job on the chicken sandwich. The spinach was super fresh, I can always tell by the color of the veggies. The chicken breast was just a tad dry but not too bad. It was tasty. Tuna sandwich was also very good. They did not put a lot of mayo in the tuna salad like most places, which I really liked. Bronx does not skimp on the protein. Will definitely order from this location again.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Food was tasty and fresh. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the early afternoon sun while we ate.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Places is clean and has reasonable seating. Service was ok like every other sandwich shop. I ordered the king of queens sandwich corned beef and pastrami on rye. Wow i was impressed was really tasty. The corned beef melted in my mouth with the good swiss cheese adding a creaminess. The bread was crispy and had great flavor. I would definitely recommend this place for a good sandwich!

Yelp
I was craving tuna sandwich and really wanted it for dinner so I used Yelp to see what was nearby and found Bronx Sandwich. The shopping center they were located in had plenty of parking and was easy to get to. The place was roomy with plenty of comfortable seating. Staff greeted me right away and took my order. Helped myself to a fountain drink and seating. My tuna sandwich as brought to my table very quickly. The bread was warm with a light crunch on the outside and tender in the inside. The sandwich was generously packed with creamy tuna salad with no fillers, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and provolone. It was truly one of the most satisfying tuna sandwiches I've had. Although the place wasn't full, I noticed lots of orders being picked up for delivery. I definitely will come back to try their other sandwiches
google avatar

Yelp
REALLY enjoyed my sandwich! Had it delivered to my Open House in Irvine. Sandwich has some LBs! Everything was soo fresh even added cucumbers and they were great. Service should be applauded for that. Will def be back!
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
First time at this location. I think I prefer the Anaheim location more. Quality of food seems on par. But customer service and generosity of portions is better at Anaheim. Plus Anaheim has the mustard bar and sandwich wrapping station. This location doesn't. On the plus it's located in a nicer shopping center.
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
Saw that I wrote a review years ago but just wanted to update. This is still, by far, my favorite sandwich spot. The portions are huge and all the sandwiches I have tried have been great. The meats are top notch but the thing that really puts it over the top for me is the bread- I could just eat that all the time!
google avatar

Yelp
Welcomed when i walked in, first time here, clean location, they have plenty of seating, a (1) tv is available, moderate noise.

Yelp
My boyfriend likes sandwiches, so one day I pick up a treat for him at the Bronx Sandwich Company. This place has been on my radar for a while now but I've been avoiding it cause of the parking situation in this plaza. There was no line at the time I arrived so it was pretty quick. I got my boyfriend The Mobster ($14.49) which has hot pastrami, housemade Turkey, American cheese. And he wanted to replace the mayo with mustard. I went with te Cali Chicken Club ($13.49) which has grilled chicken, melted cheddar, crispy bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and ranch. I also wanted to get us their House Potato Chips ($3.75) but there was something wrong with the potato supply chain and they didn't have it that day. When I got the sandwiches I was surprised at how large they are. Half of the sandwich would definitely be a sufficient meal for me. My boyfriend thought his sandwich was about average. On the other hand I was surprised at how much I liked my sandwich. It must have been the addition of ranch making it less healthy but tastier than other similar sandwiches. I'm not really a sandwich person, but if my boyfriend wants to try their other sandwiches, I'll pick it up for him.

Yelp
Food is good but prices are too high. Also, customer service is lacking. No smiles and kind of rude, to us and the other customers.

Yelp
I placed an online order via Clover today at 9:41 AM, selecting a 10:15 AM pickup time. I ordered a small side of potato salad and a shrimp po' boy with pepper jack cheese, totaling $21.50. I arrived at the establishment at 10:21 AM, expecting my order to be ready, but there were no other customers, and I wasn't acknowledged for about five minutes. When I gave my name, the worker informed me my order would be ready in 6-10 minutes. After about six minutes, it was clear they had just started frying the shrimp when I arrived. To be brief, the sandwich was underwhelming. The shrimp lacked seasoning, and a few were not deveined, which I found unpleasant. Although the shrimp were large, and there were about seven on the sandwich, the flavor was disappointing. On the other hand, the potato salad was a solid 10/10 in flavor, though the portion was tiny--barely the size of a sauce container. Given the taste of the shrimp po' boy, I probably wouldn't return, especially considering one of the most expensive items on the menu lacked flavor.

Yelp
Bronx Sandwich in Tustin has the BEST sandwiches in Orange County coupled witht he WORST mobile ordering experience. CLOVER works great for the Anehim or Mission Viejo location, but not Tustin. I've tried ordering three times in the last week and only got errors, meaning I went to Jersey Mike's down the street three times. To the operators. TRY TO MAKE A MOBILE ORDER at your Tustin location via CLOVER APP. You can create a cart, but you can't make a payment. You will have to do 3-4 or more CAPTCHA routines before you can even get to payment, which will always fail. Tried today on TWO different phones to ZERO success.

Yelp
Loved this place! Everyone was helpful and friendly. There is a lot of delicious food to choose from. I had a Bronx Club sandwich and it was so good! My mom got a Philly cheese and she loved the. The meat had a lot of flavor. We plan on going back soon to try different sandwiches.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
This was just OK for a lunch spot. I really wanted to like it. The person behind the counter seemed like he was put out when asked if the sauerkraut could be on the side. I don't think I will return due to the mediocrity of the food.
google avatar

Grace S.

Yelp
the chicken salad with avocado. It comes with a lot of chicken and avocado would recommend, the lettuce is dark green and fresh. Would order again, the dressing is more than enough for the salad plate loved it.
google avatar

Elisa T.

Yelp
This place is my new favorite sandwich chain by far. I have came here almost every weekend after grocery shopping to grab one togo. I always get the california chicken club sandwich with toasted sourdough and it always tastes so good. The spot is located in a plaza and has lots of parking. I always order ahead and just swing by for pick up!
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
Great variety of sandwiches, French fries, home made potato chips etc... Lots to choose from so my advice is to study the menu ahead of time and go from there. Indoor and outdoor seating so that's nice. Sandwiches 4 stars Home made potato chips 3 stars. Very good and clearly made to order but missing something like onion powder, garlic powder.. salt ... they need something sprinkled on them. Service 4 stars.
google avatar

Guy B.

Yelp
They make delicious sandwiches and what a choice! Their crusty French roll is so tasty and it just adds in the enjoyment of the sandwich. They have a huge selection of sandwiches - hot and cold - and salads I'm starting to really enjoy the All American. It's just a ham and cheese but they give you a good amount of very tasty, thinly-sliced meat. (Plus it's the least expensive sandwich there.) Be sure to ask for onions, pickles, or whatever extra you want on it. Service is fast and friendly. The Tustin location has a comfortable indoor dining area and even has an outdoor seating area- though the street noise can be a bit loud. Parking in the lot is a challenge during lunch, but they have plenty behind the restaurant.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
These sandwiches are SO GOOD. Love the turkey, the club, Italian.. just can't go wrong. The catering box size sandwiches are really big. Advertised as 1/2 sandwiches but they are a good size! The staff at the Tustin location are all so nice. I've ordered catering over the phone and in person sandwiches... quality and service have always been beyond expectation! Thanks guys!!!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
So sad!! Wanted to like this place so bad but I think I need to stop wanting to try to like sub sandwiches because maybe they're just not my thing? They always look so big and appetizing but I'm always left disappointed. My husband and I got the hitman and the boss. Hitman was really salty and overbearing. The boss definitely needed some type of sauce or something because it was so dry and not flavorful at all. Of course the meats were supposed to be flavorful but all I tasted was salt and dryness. Did we order the wrong thing - but others enjoy these sandwiches! I feel like I'd enjoy the fries more, but it makes me not wanna come back because I'm just sad I didn't love the sandwiches we got.

Justin L.

Yelp
Got their Philly Cheesesteak and Shrimp Po Boys to-go. Philly cheesesteak was really good! Great meat and cheese melt. The bun it came on was bomb too! Loved the veggies that was cooked with it. Would come back for it a second time. The Shrimp Po Boys was a bit of disappointment. The plus is that they gave HUGE shrimps and they gave a good amount, but the flavor wasn't it. It came with a liquidy butter sauce that was so acidic and sour and the shrimp itself didn't really have flavor, just breading. Would be down to come back to try a different sandwich and give it another chance though!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
We frequent this shopping center a lot, so we were excited to see a new spot open up. This sandwich shop has soooop many options and their sandwiches are plentiful. I ate one half of my sandwich and saved the rest for later. Since this is so close to my kids school we will be back often. Definitely check this place out!
google avatar

Pablo C.

Yelp
Subs need more meat. Meat was small quantities Prices the same Quite high. In general OK!

Peter H.

Yelp
Found on Yelp, decided to stop by, ordered my food, food was GREAT then it just got bad.. There was a short Hispanic man maybe the manager? Whole time had a face like he did not l want to be there. Then someone comes to pick a catering and this same manager? starts getting upset because they had a mix up. Starts cussing and using vulgar language in Spanish and throwing up his hands I am Hispanic so I understood it all. Gentleman walks by me and gives me the same face he gave the catering gentleman. Good food! Horrible service! Made me immediately get up and leave after eating my food.
google avatar

Kiwi G.

Yelp
Been coming here for 4 years and this place still has great sandwiches compared to many others. Place is clean , roomy and environmentally great. My favorite is the club sandwich . I've tried the chilling fries but nothing special. It's actually not worth it here however, their combo i order club, salad and a drink. I consider myself a big eater and I'm full eating half the sandwich, salad and my drink. I get to eat the other half for dinner .
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
Pastrami is the best I've had in California Only suggestions have is they serve it with pickles (ideally multiple) The boss (Italian cold cut) is amazing as well The house chips are the best!
google avatar

S T.

Yelp
The Tustin shop: The food was just okay each time I visited. Not great but about 5 stars out of 10. Service, was a 1 star. Terrible treatment by the counter person. He started to take my order then dashed off to help another customer in the middle of my ordering before I could finish. This is totally lacking in just plain good service and training. I never bothered to complite my order when he decided to return to help me. The shop lost my money on poor service. I won't be returning. There are plenty of other local good food places close by with better service and food. Ambience doesn't matter after the first 2 issues.
google avatar

Kelly W.

Yelp
Bronx is one of my favorite sandwich spots. The sandwiches are always fresh, hearty, and packed with flavor. The quality is consistent every time I go. The vibe is casual and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed lunch or quick bite. Service is super fast, which is great when you're on the go. Plus, their fries and house-made chips are addictive. If you're looking for a solid, no-fuss spot with great food and friendly service, Bronx delivers.
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
though they could do with more seating for take out, and a defined line area, the salad was yummy! the service was friendly. i'd go back
google avatar

Roselia G.

Yelp
Catering from this sandwich shop always brings smiles to the staff. The sandwiches are really good, even the salads. I love the apple slices that they add. The Dirty potato chips brand is also a favorite. And then there's the dessert tray with multiple mini options. It's definitely a great choice for catering, and just a single sandwich.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
I just love this Hot East Coast Pastrami Sandwich. I got Swiss cheese added but that's it! When I asked the guy what else comes on it, he said it's an East Coast Pastrami...just mustard, Pastrami and something else. Here I was ready to mess up a perfectly good sandwich, glad I didn't. Got mine Piled High which means instead of a half pounder, it's a three quarter pounder.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Overpriced for the fat/tendon to meat ratio. This was what I pulled from just 1 sandwich. Enough to make a whole separate sandwich.
google avatar

Jashua P.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, I got the classic, she got the Spicy Alabama. The ration of meet n cheese with veggies was perfect. Pretty sure they make their own French bread. Crispy crust/soft interior. Great bagged "dirty" chips, soda fountain with a tea dispenser (super dig tropical tea). Customer services takes off two whole stars for me. The staff wasn't friendly or welcoming. I read a few other reviews about grouchy/sorta racist guy working the register and have to agree. Do some F'ing training for your register person. Other than that, the food was a positive experience. We don't need no grouchy Bronx staff. Just good sandwiches please. Oh and parking SUCKS here.
google avatar

Victoria H.

Yelp
The ROAST beef sandwich is sooooo good!!!! Had it during my companies lunch and it was delicious. The bread was crunchy and soft in the inside, the roast beef thinly sliced to Perfection. Loved the thinly sliced lettuce too. It was so delicious with some kettle chips. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Arthur B.

Yelp
Not so friendly this guy has some problem with me despite my first time being here. You can train this guy to not be emotional
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! I personally love the Bronx Club - you really can't go wrong with a classic club. They pack in the meat, and the quality has always been solid. That said, I've definitely noticed the prices creeping up over the years. It's gotten pretty pricey for just a sandwich. I'll still be back, but probably not as often as I'd like, just based on the value for the price.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
turkey provolone was average. Too much mayo. The french baguette was below average. Would try other sandwiches like the bronx which are much better.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Long time, no see (or eat)! It's been a while since I've been here and I figured before I finally write a review I should give my favorite sandwich here another try. As I arrived to the plaza, parking was very difficult. It was packed so I ended up parking by the Brazilian wax place. After my somewhat short trek to the restaurant, I came inside to an unchanged interior and a familiar menu -- with some new items too. I ordered what I came for, the Sloppy Bronx, and also ordered the Spicy Baja Chicken Fries to try. It took less than 10 minutes before I received my order. My food: - Sloppy Bronx: It's sloppy for sure. It's a massive sandwich consisting of beef brisket, all beet hot link, and a bunch of other stuff on a french baguette. It's covered in fries and spicy mayo. My weakness. Delicious with plenty of different flavors hitting your taste buds. - Spicy Baja Chicken Fries: Grilled chicken, melted cheese, grilled onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, and spicy mayo on a bed of fries. The overwhelming toppings make the fries a bit soggy if you let it sit too long. Eat it quick! Service was good, the person who helped me at the register was quite friendly. Plenty of tables inside and outside. The outside seating is covered. What are you waiting for? Go!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Great bread. The Italian sandwich was nice. Fresh light lettuce shreds covered with a light vinegar oil splash. Good meats and cheese. The "Philly" sandwich? Nah. Still good bread but no where near authentic with minimal filling. Stuck with the pastrami or Italian.
google avatar

Airi G.

Yelp
I came here for the sandwich but I ended up falling in love with the fries only because the brisket was unbelievably tender. That's not to say the sandwich didn't taste good, because it definitely did, but I was just astonished by the quality of the Texas BBQ Brisket Fries. I got the King of Queens which came with pastrami and corned beef, swiss cheese, and spicy mustard on grilled rye. There were about 4 variations of pastrami sandwiches so I asked the worker for a recommendation and he said this one is a good gateway sandwich because I could try two types of meat at once. I definitely agree that it was good, especially with the melted cheese and buttery bread. There will for sure be a next time and when that time comes, I'll be ordering the thick-cut pastrami because I didn't expect this one to be thinly sliced. They were voted the best sandwich in OC not too long ago and I could attest to the quality. It's a casual restaurant with an indoor seating area if you want to dine in or you can take it to go but I recommend enjoying it right away if you get a hot item.
google avatar

Pezhmun G.

Yelp
I really love their jumbo cookies but the breakfast burritos are great as well! Portions are pretty heavy , which you have to show gratitude for in today's economy, lol! That being said quality and quantity are pretty compatible! If you need a quick lunch run yet know you deserve top notch quality Bronx is the spot.

Vicky T.

Yelp
Best veggie sub! One sub easily feeds two people. The bread is perfectly toasted, not your average gooey bun.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
I have had this place bookmarked for the longest time, and finally tried it yesterday for lunch as I was in the area. I asked the men at the counter what they suggested and they said the Philly cheesesteak. Being a fan of Philly cheesesteaks I was very excited to try. Unfortunately it was the worst Philly I've ever had. There had to be less than 3 ounces of meat on the sandwich and it was packed with loads of undercooked peppers and onions. I can't help but feel very ripped off.
