"When the Brooklyn Bridge was constructed in 1883—extending 1,595 feet across the East River, connecting lower Manhattan to Brooklyn Heights—it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Now, it’s a historic staple of the New York City skyline, transporting commuter car traffic underneath and touristic foot traffic above. Standing before arches and rectangles with city skyscrapers rising in the distance, will at once inspire a sense of grandiosity and slightness." - Vicki Denig

"Your friends from out of town like to descend on you all the time, but they especially like to descend in the summer. And you need things to do with them. Things that are “New York-y” but also not soul sucking. If they come on a day that’s not brutally hot, a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is always a crowd pleaser." - katherine lewin

It's a worthwhile walk across, to not only get your steps up for the day , but to see master engineering and craftsmanship on a this bridge. Also an excellent view across the river. The Brooklyn Bridge is an iconic suspension bridge in New York City, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn across the East River. Opened in 1883, it was a pioneering engineering marvel, being the first steel-wire suspension bridge and the longest in the world at the time. It remains a vital transportation link and a beloved landmark.

Visiting New York City and the Brooklyn Bridge was an unforgettable experience filled with excitement, culture, and breathtaking views. From the moment I arrived in the city, I could feel the electric energy that makes New York so famous. Skyscrapers towered overhead, yellow taxis zoomed by, and people from all walks of life filled the streets, creating a vibrant atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Brooklyn Bridge. Walking across the bridge was truly magical. The bridge itself is an architectural masterpiece, with its grand Gothic-style towers and intricate web of steel cables. As I strolled along the pedestrian walkway, I had incredible views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty in the distance, and the East River sparkling under the afternoon sun. It’s a popular spot, but there was enough space to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. On the Brooklyn side, I explored DUMBO, a charming neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, trendy cafes, and art galleries. I even had the chance to enjoy a famous New York slice of pizza while admiring the view back toward Manhattan. Overall, my trip to New York and the Brooklyn Bridge was an incredible journey. It combined the city's vibrant culture with stunning scenery, and every moment felt like stepping into a movie scene. I can’t wait to go back and experience even more.

🌉 Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is one of those classic New York experiences that you just can’t miss. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a local looking for a little escape, this iconic bridge never disappoints. Stretching between Manhattan and Brooklyn, the bridge offers some of the best views of the NYC skyline, East River, and the Statue of Liberty off in the distance. I went during golden hour, and the lighting was absolutely magical—perfect for photos. The wooden pedestrian path runs above the traffic lanes, giving you a clear, uninterrupted stroll with plenty of space to stop and soak in the views (just be mindful of the bike lane!). What I love most is how the bridge blends history with everyday city life. Built in the late 1800s, it's not just a marvel of engineering, but also a great place to reflect and feel the energy of the city around you. You’ll likely pass street performers, people walking their dogs, and tourists all sharing the same moment. Once you reach the Brooklyn side, don’t miss out on exploring DUMBO or grabbing a slice of pizza nearby it’s a great reward after the walk. Just wear comfy shoes, and be ready for a bit of a breeze! Highly recommend doing this walk if you want a free, memorable, and photogenic NYC experience.

Iconic, Legendary & scenic bridge of New York This is possibly the most famous bridge in New York and also famous worldwide. We enjoy passing under it with the ferry (NYC) and also crossing it by foot. Although this took longer that we expected, here count more time that quoted on all the different sites, as you will be stopping to take pictures, etc plus the bridge does get crowded specially in summer period.
