Mr. X and I stopped by this place on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. What I thought would be a runaway hit came crashing to a halt fairly quickly. Don't you get tired, gentle reader, of going to new places (well, new to you) and just being nothing but disappointed? I do, especially after coming with a recommendation.
The dining room is one of those of what I commonly refer to as a one-room uninspired cookie cutter arrangement of tables and chairs. It just doesn't do anything for you. The room is also so hard and loud you can barely hear each other talking. There are strings of LED Christmas lights hanging around the perimeter of the room that do that thing that all cheap LED lights do and that is that they strobe when you look at them. At the very least, if you HAD to have Christmas lights in your interior (a major design gaffe), couldn't you have at least used incandescent? Better yet, none at all of course. Why do amateurs keep insisting on throwing Christmas light strings up inside a room year 'round?
The staff was very pleasant. I had no problem at all with the servers. I thought they were attentive and great to deal with. The problems are with the food and their portions. Mr X. and I both got the same meals. We had the tomato and sausage soup special as a starter, and then the pork loin special as an entree. The soup only came in one size, and it was really too small for the price of $7.00 and it tasted like thin pizza sauce with a few chunks of sausage in it. Not impressed.
On to the entrees. When I think of pork loin, I think of a tube-shaped piece of meat infused with herbs - not so here. What we received was basically a very small pork chop that had been cut into slices (I can cut my own food, thanks) and spread apart to make it appear to be more food. It also didn't come with a salad or bread, and was severely overpriced at $25.00. We asked for potato chips and were handed a lunch bag of Utz. I was starving, and had the entire entree eaten up in about 8 bites.
We were both really disappointed. $50.00 for two entrees and we were still hungry. The food isn't that special, nor is there enough of it to merit that outrageous price. We both felt ripped off (see my review of "Charleston", which evoked a similar feeling). Our bill came to some $75.00 for lunch for 2 with no alcohol- way too much for what we got.
With small portions, high prices, leaving hungry, and little in the way of any kind of atmosphere, I don't feel that we will return. We went to the McDonalds across the street immediately after and got us a couple Quarter Pounders.
