Brother Marcus Borough

Excellent breakfast spot in London We had a wonderful breakfast at Brother Marcus. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious: the smoked shakshouka, the avocado beetroot hummus, and the apple granola to finish. We also had two coffees, which were very good. The portions are generous, the flavors are spot on, and the overall quality of the food really stands out. On top of that, the staff are extremely kind, smiley, and attentive, always making sure everything is perfect. Highly recommended for a tasty and relaxed breakfast in London. P.S: Better to make a reservation.

I was really disappointed by the food at Brother Marcus. I visited their branch in Borough Yards after walking past them a few times wanting to try them at some point and left feeling I had chosen the wrong restaurant. I got the Fried Chicken Rosti. The fried chicken was nice but the overall dish was try. There was kasundi jam on the chicken but an element of spice was needed to cut through the sweetness of this. A sauce was missing to this dish. This dish had potential but I feel there was seriously a missing element here. My partner ordered the shakshuka - we thought this dish felt bland and almost boring in comparison to the various shakshuka’s we had tried at North African and Middle Eastern restaurants or made at home. The dessert was better yet quite sickly, which was surprising considering two people shared 1 portion. The seasame shards were a nice addition in terms of flavour. The food almost seems equivalent to chains such as “Lounges”, which I don’t think is what they are going for. Brother Marcus doesn’t seem like a restaurant you’d call your favourite for its food. It seems like a good place to just try once or grab drinks at. The homemade lemonade was great and pairs well with savoury food. It’s a shame as the dishes have potential but miss so much in terms of how flavours are partnered. It is palatable to those who are pleased with mid- toned flavours and that alone. It was nice that thy had chicken Halal options that I could choose from. Ambience of the restaurant was nice and well decorated. The staff were a delight! We had not booked and they kindly got us seated and comfortable, despite the restaurant seeming busy. They were really attentive and just lovely hosts in total. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself recommending this restaurant at this point in time. I walked away feeling like I had chosen the wrong restaurant for our meal purely due to the food.

A lamb kofta breakfast pitta. Excellent idea and was pretty good. The meat and pitta were excellent. Unfortunately there was hardly any labneh in the pitta. There was also this incredible sweet sauce that was every so slightly spicy. The issue is, there was hardly any of it inside the pitta. So much potential and will be back. Happy to adjust my review if the full experience (more Labneh) makes the difference.

Amazing place, excellent food and welcoming service. Andreas has been absolutely amazing! The breakfast/brunch menu was brilliant, with a big variety of choices. Food arrived quickly, it was warm, tasty, absolutely lovely! Highly recommend for food and coffee, will definitely be coming back. Keep it up, Team we really need welcoming places like this!

After walking one round in Borough with not many places to sit for a meal, we headed towards Brother Marcus that is also pet friendly. Alfresco dining was beautiful and the food is delicately made. They use very fresh ingredients and you get a taste of Mediterranean. The pita and hummus dip was a delight to begin the meal with the pan fried bream and prawn pasta. The pasta was well Made. Maybe even hand made. We had two lovely desserts

Great food, and staff knowledgable about allergies. A few GF (gluten free) options on the menu for brunch, and dinner looked like there were a few more options. Risk of cross contamination, but staff gave me comfort to eat there as a celiac. Separate space and fryers confirmed to be used for the GF food. Good itself was delicious and definitely wouldn’t have known it was GF.

Morgan has been an amazing waiter, great service! We didn't get a inside table and heater wasn't strong enough so it is a bit cold sitting outside. Food was really good!

Bread and halloumi are the highlight, other dishes are good too. Fully booked on a Tuesday evening, reservations recommended. Inside area very loud and echos a little, a bit difficult to hear conversations but doable.
