Dinner at Brothers Restaurant At the Red Barn was easily one of the most memorable steakhouse experiences I’ve had. The filet was phenomenal — honestly one of the top three filets I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive, and the Mud Pie for dessert was absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way — rich, indulgent, and unforgettable. We went on Sunday night, the day after Valentine’s Day, and the place was packed (good thing they take reservations). We'd had an unfortunate experience the night before at a different local restaurant, but despite the crowd, we were seated right away at a great table. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance: relaxed but upscale, with a retro country steakhouse vibe that feels both classic and comfortable. The staff was outstanding — attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We also enjoyed a fantastic local cab from Brave & Maiden that paired beautifully with the steak. From start to finish, it was a perfect evening. This place absolutely lives up to its reputation.

My wife and I had an early reservation and were seated promptly, which made for a great start to the evening. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer while we looked over the menu for our entrées. Unfortunately, the calamari was a bit underwhelming. It felt like we were fishing for it in a sea of fried onions. After picking through the onions to find the small pieces of calamari, the plate still looked almost untouched because there were so many onions. Thankfully, the experience really turned around with the main courses. My wife ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked perfectly to her liking with excellent flavor. I had the prime rib special, which was also cooked perfectly and tasted even better than I expected. Paired with au jus and horseradish sauce, it was outstanding, and I finished every bite. The mashed potatoes served with both dishes were creamy and delicious as well. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal and will definitely be back, we’ll just be skipping the calamari next time.

We had an amazing family dinner! All of our meals were phenomenal, but the burgers were the best I’ve ever had! Our cocktails at the bar before dinner, were great as well (margaritas & martinis). Brandon waited on us at our table, and he was so nice and in top of everything…he added to the already wonderful experience!

Reservations are a must and you can get there a bit early to grab a drink at the bar. Super friendly staff and the food was 10/10. You can split entrees for a $10 fee (the portions are huge so not a bad idea). The best part of the meal was the bread options - unreal how good their breads are!

We went on monday February 9th '26, I had the filet while my wife had prime rib. Both were incredible! Even though neither of us had room for dessert, we ordered some anyhow. I had the home made mud pie while my wife had banana bread pudding. Best ever!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful dinner here. The food, service, and atmosphere were perfect for a romantic date night. The wine list did an excellent job showcasing great local wines. My NY strip was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the mud pie for dessert was outstanding. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in the area.

The food and service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for all steak lovers. The house special prime rib did not disappoint. The mix drinks and dessert was also excellent.

My deathrow meal is made here. 6oz Prime filet! But I also order in tacos on Thursdays:) .. I suggest you try the trout, pork chop, stuffed chicken, and the lamb. The desserts are superb and seasonal. This place has earned its stars and I hope its around for decades to come.

We couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner! The service was hands-down the best we've ever had--Aimee was attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She offered great suggestions and her service was flawless from start to finish. The food was simple, classic, and beyond perfected. Every dish was absolutely delicious--the romaine salad made a crisp, refreshing starter, and the French onion soup was rich, flavorful, and filling. The Chinese chicken salad was packed with flavor, and the 8oz filet with potato gratin was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Truly to die for! We sat out on the patio under bistro lights, which set the perfect atmosphere for a summer night. The cocktails were excellent (and the mocktail did not disappoint either), rounding out a truly memorable evening. If you're looking for top-notch service, incredible food, and the perfect ambiance, this is the place. We'll definitely be back!

I wanted to write 2 reviews because it doesn't seem fair to give only 3 stars when the service was 10 plus but I I can't do that so I have to lump them in one. Having never been here before we had one of the sweetest waitresses I've had in such a long time.. Aubrey. She was not only helpful, but she bent over her backwards to make sure that our dinner was special.. She took the time, even though the place was hopping to explain everything. Finance all my questions within enthusiasm and a smile.. I should read my review a lot. The dinner was far from perfect, but that's not Aubrey's fault however, when I took the time to explain to her how I felt about the dinner, she sincerely loved apologetic and empathize and said she wished I had told her sooner which is typical and most restaurants can trust me. I'm not shy. I usually do say something but tonight we were having such a great time I didn't want to ruin our mood. Most waitresses would give you that I'm sorry look and do nothing not Aubrey. She took her to the highest level and deducted enough to please my husband and the fact that she took it upon herself to write a wrong is overwhelming, especially in today's society. She never lost her smile, and she never lost her patience.. I did compliment her to her manager service like this reminds me of times gone by thank you Aubrey for saving the day. We had never heard of this restaurant until we stopped at Santa Barbara and talked with some people that lived there for 40 years who told us about this place and it was on our way to Pismo so We drove up to Santa ynex very hopeful as it got 4,7 stars and we haven't had a good steak in a very long time. The brought out a very nice bread basket, different kinds of bread that were very good. It kind of ended there.! I ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer. I will say the flavor was great however it was mostly a bowl of onions. had a small amount of cheese and two big pieces of bread and the rest was pure onion hardly any broth however I wish they would've put more in because it was tasty.. Then came my entrée. My waitress was kind enough to explain all the options of mashed potatoes, and I opted for the garlic mashed potatoes. It originally came with Grotin potatoes but I asked the waitress what her preference was and it was the mashed potatoes so I went with that.. I ordered my steak, medium rare because I was in the mood for a juicy yummy flavorful steak. What I got, however was an overcooked crispy on the outside dry on the inside with absolutely zero flavor.. the mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best. My favorite part of my plate believe this or not were the yummy green beans and I'm not a veggie kind of person.! My husband ordered the Stilton cheeseburger with extrwell done french fries. The fries were good. The bun was extremely dense. And stale.. he ate the meat which was OK. The patty was well seasoned. It was a half pound burger, and the sauces he got were very good.. I must say it was an extreme disappointment.

MUST TRY. This is a staple in my family. Every trip to Santa Ynez isn't complete without a stop here. If you're hungry, that pork chop won't disappoint. It's one of our family favorites and most of the time, it's what everyone orders at the table, especially all the men. It's rare to find a good pork chop and this place makes the best. If you're looking for something healthy but hearty, their Chinese Chicken Salad is a game changer. I don't know what it is about this particular salad but it has me driving from Laguna Beach during intense cravings for the best Chinese chicken salad I've ever had. Hands down, no one beats this. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and the dressing should be sold in bottles. They provide a nice mix of bread for the table that includes cornbread and other small slices but I'd highly recommend to save room for the main course. Everything we've ever had here is good. Many come for celebrations too; it's a great atmosphere for it.. but we can't afford to NOT come here, even if just passing through, because they have the best food in town.

The food was delish! I got the best New York Prime-rib and the french onion soup was great too! My kids like the sweet corn soup and my husband loved the Salmon Risotto! Overall the food was great! Just a little complaint about the wine list as it didn't really go with any of our dishes as the wine list by the glass were all so young ... we have made a reservation for 5 but they didn't have any big party inside the restaurant so they have put us outside which the ambiance doesn't really blend in well as the food was also very expensive... the service was wonderful!

Pork chops and steak were cooked to perfection. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were very tasty. Hidden gem in the mountains!

My Boyfriend made reservations to celebrate our 1yr anniversary it was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Food was delicious! Our waitress was attentive and nice. Great experience.

I recently visited for dinner with a large party celebrating a family birthday and both the service and food were excellent. There were 19 of us all together and the food came out timely and the perfect temperature which is not easy with a large group. My partner and I ordered two different items so we could try one another's and both were cooked perfectly; we ordered the rack of lamb and prime rib. We were incredibly happy with both. The restaurant also offers a lovely wine selection and full bar of wine is not your preference. They have something for most everyone. I would say, even better than the Willows across the street. The ambiance, food and service are hands down better and you're not dealing with the hassle of transversing the casino. If you're in the area. Don't think twice, this is a staple of the locals for a reason.

This place is absolutely perfection. The artichoke soup was perfect. The white wine was perfect. The bread was perfect. And mostly their Bronzino was perfect. Nothing to even consider to be critical about. Well done. Thank you for existing. Service.. ambiance..5/5

We were in town for a wedding . I made reservations 2 weeks ahead for the 8 of us . And we were so lucky that we reserved - busy weekend . I had the best steak of my life ... petite tenderloin with the most amazing sauce , cup of delicious soup kobucha squash - so tasty . Several ordered the sirloin and liked that as well . The pork chop and chicken stuffed with goat cheese was a big hit as well . All 8 of us were very pleased with our meal . Great wine as well . Can't wait to go back

We came in on a Saturday evening not having a reservation, but they were able to get us in fairly quickly. Their service was amazing overall. The host was incredibly friendly and our server, Junior, was great as well. I would have to say this is the best steak I've had in a great while. The mashed potatoes and veggies were also savory. We can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious food.

Reservations at 7pm on a Wednesday and it is crazy busy and very loud. They brought the bread basket and fresh butter right away, lots of offerings but they are all cool to cold. We sat at a table right in front of the kitchen and couldn't see anything they were doing, just plates going on a shelf for the wait staff. Also, they seem to serve mashed potatoes, variously flavored, with almost every dish. On a positive note, my lamb chops were wonderful, perfectly cooked except for one of the four double chops. RRR had a seared scallop special on rice that he really liked, also cooked just right. We carried out a serving of the bananas foster bread pudding back to our bed and breakfast, made a cup of coffee and enjoyed it there. It was the best dish of the meal, highly recommended.

We drove from Bakersfield over to try this place. Several people had told us how good it was and it didn't disappoint. Started with fresh baked bread and a wedge salad followed by the filet with the potato gratin. This is one of the best meals I have had in my life. I highly recommend this establishment!

This place has all the working of a great looking restaurant. Two sections, and inside area (refined and nice) and the outdoor refined Reb Barn look. Both rooms are great! We sat in the outer one and had a great time. The tables are all white cloth and very nice. Service was remarkable and above par! The food, excellent! All cooked to the right levels and brought out on time to our table of friends. I know all restaurants now have increased the pricing of food. That is why I cannot bring this to a 5 star. Not looking for a debate on this, more of an observation to all restaurants. This seems at some point unsustainable for the avg or even someone on business.

From the service to the staff to the food. If I could give this place a 10, I would absolutely do it. However that would mean there isn't anywhere that would beat it in the world. I ask myself how in the world can anyone top this? This place should have a 5 star rating.

Prime rib is best in town by far. Service was great and waitress attended to my daughter's needs. We went here for my wife's 30th birthday and it was a great environment.

We love the Brothers at the Red Barn. Phenomenal service, the cruise is above reproach and they serve the best Prime-rib in California.

What a surprise! Expected casual rustic experience but pleasantly surprised by country fine dining - relaxed, refined, and totally enjoyable. Staff welcoming, professional, and provided excellent service with a friendly touch. Most importantly, the food was quality, amazing little biscuits and salt finishing touch on bread, best prime rib per my husband, and desserts that were beyond the norm. We could see the care and desire to please their guests. Only thing that could be improved is level of noise but maybe that isn't typical. Dianne is a wonderful server and we'll definitely return.

What a fun and festive space! Excellent and friendly service. Bountiful servings of delicios food. Two of us had the sole with capers, fabulous sauce and sour cream mashed potatoes. Divine. All the plates had nice firm carrots and green beans. Eat your veggies! One had pork chop with apple sauce. The other salmon with a pretty rice dish. Why no photos of the amazing plate of mixed breads including an out of this world corn bread? Devoured and all fun to eat with BUTTER (save the olive oil or fava bean spread for elsewhere). A friend steered us here but he could not join. Great recommendation! Cheers and enjoy!

These place lives up to the hype! So many excellent upscale choices in the sleepy town of Santa Ynez but it's obvious that brothers barn is the top of the heap! Busy AF on a Monday next and reservations were limited. Whole town except restaurants and a few bars were closed by 5. This place was basically full including the bar area. Service was top notch and the inside was 100% better looking than the outside. Very meat and potato menu. Wife had clam chowder which was very good but I've had better and I had a romaine wedge salad which was excellent. Bread assortment was also special and no extra charge like some other restaurants are getting away with charging. Wife got the filet which came with potatoe au gratin which was also very good and filet was about as good as it gets. I got the brute her burger and fries. Fries were plentiful and well executed and the large burger was well seasoned and had everything I want on my burger. Could stay a week here to sample the various restaurants that you can walk to. Will be back for sure and my buddy Bob made a great recommendation with the Brothers Restaurant at Red Barn!

You can't judge a book by its cover. Be sure to make a reservation. The service is excellent, Diane was our server and she was great. The food quality was better than some high end steakhouses we have dined in.

Had a good experience here while visiting in town. Service was great and the food delicious. Sat on the outside covered patio which was nice and breezy. Knocked a star as we ordered one kid Mac n cheese to split between our twin little ones (they don't eat much) and were charged for 2 which was $20. My hubby didn't notice to fix before paying so we let it go cause we didn't want to wait any longer as our kids were out the door but It's literally Kraft Mac n cheese so a $20 charge for a $2 box of Mac n cheese is a bit much.

Absolutely one of the best dinners and dining experiences my husband and I have ever had. From the food to the service we couldn't ask for more. We will make the trip from South Orange County more often just to have dinner at Brothers at the Red Barn.

Good service, yummy food, great drinks and free dessert on your birthday. I am so glad we came here! When we first arrived at 7:30, the dining room was packed. By 8:30, it had cleared out. Not sure if it's the town, the demographics or what but it was actually kind of nice having the place to ourselves. I love when restaurants give free bread and I love it even more when there is a variety of bread. A lot of places don't do this anymore. Pork chop was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The applesauce wasn't needed because it was perfectly charred and seasoned on it's own. French onion soup wasn't the best soup ever. The broth wasn't overly rich or developed. And it could have used more cheese on top. Another nice touch was giving a free dessert to the birthday girl. This is another thing that restaurants don't really do anymore.

Brandon is absolutely the nicest person. What a server. My anniversary was so special. After restaurant and hoping around. He made us still feel special.

REVIEW: I don't even know where to begin. Probably the best meal I have ever had. (Back story: My parents used to come here years ago, and my Mom told me the story that she and my Dad used to sit in the back near the fireplace). My Mom wanted the prime-rib. As she wants, she gets. :) We made suggested reservations (yes, make them before hand) and we parked a few minutes before they opened. There was already a group of customers waiting outside. It's like that here. Get here. :) Once they finally opened their doors we were welcomed inside and shown to a table. Fancy does not even begin to describe it. I felt underdressed, but that was me. And it was OK. Our server was nice enough, but sadly she was too robotic for my comfort. Yes, I knew she knew the specials. But, still. She wasn't happy to be there, if you know what I mean. Since I hadn't ever been here I had some questions about a few of the appetizers (I was trying to decide). She was a bit "smart alecky" for me - and I guess my face told her my shock in her attitude (I do not have a poker face)....All was well; I ordered the Chicken Salad but I should have gone with my gut with the Salmon appetizer. My Mom was blown away by her prime-rib. She loved it. And, when say she loved it I meant, "She LOVED THE PRIME-RIB". Also, get the banana foster appetizer thing. TO DIE FOR. Yes. Recommend. Yes. For sure.

I can't believe it took me this long to try out Brothers Restaurant but I am sooo glad I did! And I was so excited to learn their special this day was scallops- my favorite! Our party made a reservation in advance for a Friday and it was already so booked up that we could only get a 5:45pm time. They have lots of seating, which is nice. Their outdoor dining area can be closed off from wind/rain and had heaters. We opted for a baby greens salad to start and the staff were super accommodating to split the starter onto two separate plates. Service was excellent all around. We were well tended to and weren't rushed out. My husband devoured the caramelized onion scalloped potatoes. He's still talking about how good they were! We were able to take our own bottle of wine for our party to enjoy and pay a corkage fee too.

The food is good but they have too many flies in the patio. They should use discretion and not sit people out there. I asked multiple times for fly fans which they didn't have and when I said something about the flys the sever just responded "well they are on me too!" Okay... let's do something about it. Fly fans are like five cents. Also the storage bin where they keep the linens needs a good clean and some organizing. The live music was great though.

Came to Santa Inez for a girls trip. We decided to try Brothers! Loved it so much we came back a second night! Their burgers are one of the best I have ever had! On night two I got the halibut, it was absolutely delicious! It gets pretty busy at dinner time, so I recommend going early or trying to get a seat at the bar.

very underrated spot in the santa ynez area! the burger was so flavorful and juicy. fries were great, especially w their dill ranch. the lamb chops were cooked perfectly and paired well with the veggies and mashed potatoes. the staff are very friendly, marnie was especially was very helpful.

Oh no! I just had dinner here on my recent stay, as I always do. Food was perfect. I was told beforehand however that the wait staff would charge 20 percent gratuity for parties of 6 or more, which I was fine with. What disappointed me was that the waitress Jenna tacked on 20 percent on top of the total, as opposed to the pre-tax subtotal. I reached out to the manager Andrea today and asked for clarification and she did agree with the waitress miscalculation but didn't really have much more to say about it. She said she would "keep it in mind". I paid an extra $5 for this oversight. This rubbed me the wrong way. Everything else was to our satisfaction and we all had a great evening, just disappointed and felt somewhat misled.

All around perfect restaurant. Food cooked perfectly, outstanding service. Lovely atmosphere. Will be back.

Top notch from start to finish. First time at this unassuming place in Santa Ynez. I started with the Guzzler cocktail. Ketel One pomegranate and lime...quite tasty. My wife ordered the Rainbow trout which was accompanied by mashed potatoes and PERFECTLY prepared green beans and carrots. The trout was expertly prepared, sauced just right. No bones to be found. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare. It was THE BEST prime rib I've had in the Central Coast!! Perfect temp, tender and not loaded with globs of fat. It was seasoned perfectly as were the vegetables and potatoes. The bread basket provided after we sat down had cornbread, focaccia and sliced sourdough. Again, exceeded my expectations. Service was prompt and comfortably professional. What a great find! Will DEFINITELY return with more people.

Delicious steak. I was little disappointed in the French onion soup, a little salty but meal was overall great.

Our experience tonight..... delicious and the service was friendly and our server Cat was on top of her game either our large group of 14. We will return soon.

I can't believe I haven't checked in again on Yelp about the Brother's restaurant since my last review (?) in 2019. I have to say they have only gotten better, if more expensive, but what hasn't? Oddly enough, we had virtually the identical meals I identified back in 2019, with two great baby greens salads, same top sirloin steak, but this time with a Baked horseradish-dill crusted Scottish salmon. Tab was about $150 and worth every penny. The salads were as fresh as a September morn', as if someone had just wandered out in the garden and picked them. Add a bit of Stilton cheese, some poached pear slices, and candied walnuts with drizzled balsamic vinegar and you get a fabulous starter. A large portion, too! My Scottish salmon (which I tried here first in October 24 was amazing. I was wondering if it indeed was real Scottish salmon but just this morning saw it at our local supermarket identified as such at $21.99 per pound. I would estimate the weight of the portion served at the Brothers at 12 ounces ($42). It is served in a bowl, topped on what is known as their "VBR," or Vegetable Brown Rice, a delicious melange of (a little) rice, vegetables including what tasted to be small shiitake mushroom slices, carrot triangles, and fresh asparagus, that being the predominate flavor. It was in a light sauce and fit perfectly with the salmon. No room for dessert but we were so smitten with the salads that we returned the following night and sat on hi-tops in the bar area, both of us having only the baby greens salads, but I added a cup of the freshly seasonal potato-leak soup which was very creamy. While I prefer little slices of leek and cubed potatoes when I make it at home, this style was excellent. The previous night's meal was very filling and we needed something lighter. These were on Monday and Tuesday nights in March, 2025, and the restaurant was booked up full both nights. We had reservations for Monday thru OpenTable and on Tuesday settled for the bar seating, which even at 5:00 opening tine filled up quickly, and is first-come, first-served and non-reservable tables for two or four. Monday tab before tip was about $150 with one glass of Merlot, a little under $50 for night two. As Santa Ynez is a little cow-town of 4700 population, they enjoy a fabulous local reputation and servers called many diners by their first names. How such a place came to be here is beyond me, but I am glad it does exist. I would plan a meal here a couple of weeks in advance if this sounds like your kind of place! It sure is ours!

Listen, we went in with a table of 16 and of course we made reservations in advance. We were immediately made welcome by the front of the house, our server, Jr and his assistant were amazing. They didn't miss a beat. The food was awesome!! I didn't want to eat a protein, and mentioned that and shared I wanted something yummy to go with my mashed potatoes and green beans. Jr. brought me three beautiful sauces to sample, and if you know, you know!! We will be back and I will recommend regularly. Now that I think about it, while making the reservation, I had a fantastic conversation with the person I believe was the same front of the house, likely manager that greeted us, and kindly walked us out. Great service and everyone loved the food. Hats off to this place!!

This is one of my number one top restaurants. Food is always amazing. I've tried several things on the menu over the years and have loved it all. The service is always impeccable. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in area. Absolutely delicious.

Food and Service was great! They have a good wine list with many local wineries included. You will need to make a reservation as this is a popular destination.

This was hands down the best food at a restaurant I have ever had. If I could give a 10 out of 5 stars, I would. I had the swordfish, my friends had the stuffed chicken and prime rib. The bread was very good. Water service was also on point.
