Google
Came right when they opened on a Saturday. Everyone was really friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and it's great to be able to see the people in the back making the baked goods. Iced latte was good and I got an assortment of pastries (croissants, danishes, muffins) and everything was absolutely delicious! It's a bit pricey but good pastries always are since it's so hard to actually get them right We will certainly be back!

Google
Wonderful food! Our Airbnb was directly across from this great bakery so we came by twice during our stay. Get there early! Choices were dwindling by 10am. The food was so good but it was cold. We took it back to warm it up. That’s a consequence of the plague and outdoor service so I get it, just be prepared.

Google
This will definitely be my daily go-to breakfast spot for the week I'm spending in Charleston! The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was amazing, at least in part because of the delicious roll that it's served on. You just have to get there early because they often sell out. I also love that they offer oat milk as a dairy alternative in their coffee drinks. For those who haven't tried it, it's considerably better than almond milk. The chocolate macaroon was also amazing!

Google
For breakfast this morning we had a blueberry muffin, egg and cheese biscuit, and cinnamon roll with coffees. The decaf had to be a latte, but it was delicious. We ordered from the side of the building where they are doing counter service only. They had a lot of offerings for being counter service only. They were also super quick! Awesome little gem in the residential district of downtown.

Google
I travel to CHS often, and I never miss an opportunity to visit Browns. The line is worth it! The bagel bombs will make you rethink your life. The croissants are buttery yummy goodness to the last bite. The drinks are worth the wait and put everyone else to shame. Oh Browns, I LOVE you.

Din N.

Google
Seriously delicious baked goods!! Just try anything on the menu and make sure you get there early since they sell out fast. I got some flaky baked items with berries and the other one with chocolate. Nothing is overwhelmingly sweet, perfect balance.

Google
Broken hearted to get our very last box of THE BEST PASTRIES in this city, hands down. Thank you, Brown's Court, each and every one of you, for the love and art in every single item you've made. It's been an honor!! (Please come back! Miss you already!)

Google
Everything they make is great. Ordered the yule log off the holiday menu and its the best cake I have had in my entire life. It was so beautiful. The meringue mushrooms were so cute and delicious. The frosting was chocolate but not too sweet and the filling was a light vanilla cream. Absolutely delicious.

Yelp
I love the new rainbow outdoor seating! That's new since I've been last. As always, the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting continues to be my favorite baked good from here. But I'm also a big fan of the sourdough loaf and their donuts. Ambiance is downtown alley, but like... in a cute way? Not sketchy or gross, just not what you'd usually expect when you roll up to a bakery. Very unique! The folks running the register and taking orders have always been so kind and helpful. Line moves quickly!

Yelp
Went here with my mom and it's a nice little outdoor stand area. They sell little treats and coffee that taste nice. The service is nice and quick and the staff is friendly. Overall, it is a nice little place to go for a wake up call in the morning! Recommendation: I recommend getting the donuts-they come with five sugary donut holes and is perfect for 2-5 people (or you can just eat them all yourself)

Yelp
The BEST bakery in Charleston. I had a co-worker bring some pastries in and it changed my life! I've always been a sweets person, but I truly believe Brown's Court Bakery has some of the best savory pastries I've ever had in my life. I try to make a stop here once a week since it is so good! There can be a line on Friday mornings and sometimes they sell out of some product before I can get there (before 8am!). There is almost always somewhere to park on the street early enough in the morning. I ALWAYS get the pimento and bacon jam pinwheel. It's a flaky danish topped with salty pimento cheese and sweet, oniony bacon jam. The flavors work so well together and the danish is so buttery and crispy. The best savory pastry I have ever had!!! I had their lemon poppy seed muffin, but was not a fan as it was a bit dry. I've had their strawberry donut, but I did feel like it was a tad oily and cold. However, I've gotten their mini donuts fresh before and the maple glaze was outstanding. Fluffy and delicious. Definitely a must try if the donuts are fresh! This is must-try for me and always makes my mornings better. Love love love them!

Yelp
I've been to this spot a couple times. It's off the beaten path and you feel like a local or in some special club waiting in the driveway of this house, i mean bakery. My friend got a bagel, which he was very pleased with (but he is not from NY). I got the pinwheel danish with pimento cheese and bacon jam - and it was one of the best things Ive eaten this year. I ate almost all of it before I remembered to take a picture. That's why the photo has one bite left. Also got the chocolate almond bear claw, which was extremely disappointing. The ratio of bread to filling off, and the claw itself was very bready. I mean it has a sweet glaze on top, but I would skip it next time and get any and all pinwheels.

Yelp
Brown's Court is open for indoor seating!! The interior is SO cute and I love being able to see the pastries in the case. Service was awesome and street parking isn't too hard to find. So happy to have a new coffee/pastry shop to frequent!
google avatar

Nicole I.

Yelp
You order from the porch of this bakery- no seating. They have some coffee with different syrups. Teas and an assortment of pastries. My friends lavender donut was yummy but the two danishes we got were not the best. Overall pretty average local spot.

Yelp
FAVORITE BAKERY IN CHARLESTON. This little place is tucked away behind all the main stuff downtown and it is the definition of a hidden gem. You can view their big menu for the day and order outside at the window. They only sell what they made for the day so go early! I got a HUGE twix cookie which was salty and sweet and decadent as well as the Bacon jam with pimento cheese danish which was LIFE CHANGING. The pastry was so buttery and flaky and the topping was super delicious. I literally cannot wait to go back. 1000/10 recommend their delicious baked goods!!

Yelp
In town to drop off our son at CofC and this place was right near our AirBnB. Cute little walk up counter, white board with all the menu items. Had the Bacon Bun and the Ham And Cheese Croissant which were both delicious. Donuts look awesome as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun neighborhood bakery and cafe! I think you can only order through the alleyway and get it to go, which suited us fine. We got there around 10:15am on a Monday, and all their bagels + a number of other items were sold out already. Ended up getting the chocolate croissant, cinnamon twist danish, and bacon jam with pimento cheese danish. All were very tasty! The cinnamon twist was just the right amount of sweetness. The cheese and bacon jam combo actually reminded me of a classic Chinese bakery bun, but with a flakier pastry. The vanilla iced latte was delicious and sweet (maybe too sweet for my husband lol). Would definitely want to come back and try some other pastries!

Yelp
A MUST-GO! I happened upon this when looking for a place to grab breakfast to-go for a bachelor party. Be warned: It's best to get here early, because they sell out fast. But the food is AMAZING and so, so worth it! I loved the egg & cheese biscuit and the croissant the most (incredible!). Cute walk-up spot!

Yelp
Nothing Special, Served in a Driveway Photos on Google show a charming interior with tables on the verandah. How nice. Well, that's not what you get. You stand in a driveway and order at a counter separating you from, well, anything. There are a couple of outdoor picnic tables in full sun and one small table in partial shade, all of it looking pretty sad. Maybe they can't (or haven't tried) to update their Google presence. Their Facebook page doesn't show any interior shots but it does have a link to their website--which doesn't work. Only a few things on their menu were available at 11am even though they are open until 2pm. They can't (or won't) heat certain things and they can't (or won't) toast bagels. We got a couple of iced coffees and a couple of bear claws and retreated to our car to eat. The bear claws were a little tough.

Yelp
We came about five minutes before they closed for the day and were SO lucky! Of course they were sold out of most items - but that's ok, we wanted to grab some items quickly. We got the cookies and cream cookies, a Carmelita, and a blondie. Everything was delicious!!! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Another delicious Monday Brown's Court ham and cheese croissant. Super flaky and great start to the work week. My only suggestion is that it could use another slice of ham and more melted cheese. I'd say the bread to filling is more along the lines of 2.5 bread:1 filling. Otherwise wonderful start to the day. Also love the bagel bombs. #bergerknowsbest

Yelp
Stopped by Brown's Court Bakery before leaving CHS after my bachelorette party, and I'm so glad we did! We realized this spot was right by our Airbnb and we read rave reviews, so naturally we had to go. We visited on a Sunday morning, so not surprisingly, the line was pretty long. I was a little surprised by the setup - I was expecting some sort of interior, but all the transactions (ordering, paying, pick up) are outside. No big deal at all since it was warm weather, but I was a tad surprised! The building that houses the Bakery is so Charleston - large white building with intense southern charm. We waited in line for maybe 30ish minutes before placing our order, and we were glad the line went pretty fast. All this time gave us a chance to review their expansive menu! A few items were out by the time we got our chance to order, which again, was not surprisingly, and luckily, their menu is large enough that we could still find items we were interested in. The Yelp reviews spoke very highly of the danishes, so I opted for a danish with jam, candied pecans, and brie. This was unlike any other danish I've had! The dough was so flaky and butter as expected, but it had less "fake-ness" than I'm used to when getting the bulk danishes from a grocery store bakery. So soft and buttery and delish! The filling was so unique and perfectly paired with the dough - I'm a sucker for brie to begin with, and I loved the savory cheese paired with the sweet jam and candied pecans. All the flavors so nicely blended together for the perfect breakfast pastry. I paired this with an iced coffee (out of cold brew) with oat milk, which was a nice offering! My friends also tried the danish and an english muffin, which they both enjoyed and spoke highly of the homemade quality. The price was quite reasonable for the portion and the quality, and the wide variety of options makes it easy for anyone to find something they could enjoy, whether it be sweet or savory. There were so many options, I would definitely be willing to make it back to Brown's Court Bakery to try some more options - I would just be ready to wait for a bit and have a plan in place to eat the delicacies once received. Thanks for a perfect ending to our trip, Brown's Court!

Yelp
Amazing little bakery with excellent quiche, bagels, danishes and more. Everything we had was delicious. The bacon jam pimento danish is worth the hype. I'm from Chicago and we stayed at an Airbnb nearby. It was so good we went a second time before flying home. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We stopped here just for breakfast. I really enjoyed the bagel bomb. It was tasty and there was a good ratio of bagel to filling! The rosemary salt bagel was really big, much larger than your average bagel. They were taking orders outside using their side porch as a counter with a tent to cover from weather. It was very covid friendly. They had a large menu (with pizzas in the evening) that I want come back and explore more!

Daniela R.

Yelp
Went to this place thinking it was going to be great. It was below average at best. We ordered a simple ham and cheese croissant, it was cold. The coffee was basic. Nothing special, especially when there are so many other options for a quick breakfast or brunch. Do not recommend.

David I.

Yelp
A subtle driveway/porch entrance understates one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had...and I've sampled a lot. Get there early to make sure you beat the crowd...the cinnamon rolls sell out quickly.
google avatar

Frank G.

Yelp
Time changes everything. You can no longer go inside. You have to pick what you want from a white board, outside. Too bad, the eyes dictate what you want more than a list does. You have to see what you want and options. This does not work. COVID is the excuse, but that's over now. The French bread seems to not taste like before. Changes in ingredients, who knows. For me these changes do not work. I wonder how many more items they could sell if one could actually see them. Frank G

Yelp
At 8am on weekends, there is already a line and sold out of a number of items, so get there early! The carnitas breakfast burritos and lavendar donuts are amazing! The bagels rival the best I've had from Mew York!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for breakfast in downtown Charleston. Bagels, croissants, muffins, pastries,!!!

Yelp
On a recent trip to Charleston, my husband and discovered this gem while searching for a spot to grab a quick breakfast. Brown's Court Bakery did not disappoint! Tucked away from the street in a walkable area of town is the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. I ordered the Black Bean Burrito with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and cheese. It was hot and delicious! Iced coffee was perfect as well! If you are looking for the most available menu items you had better go early. They sell out of items pretty quickly due to their popularity in the area. I would highly recommend Brown's Court Bakery on your next trip to Charleston!
google avatar

Yelp
Brown's was just down the street from our hotel and was a great way to start the day. My husband got an iced coffee, a cappuccino and sampling of their baked goods including cinnamon rolls, apple oat danish, Brie and black berry danish, berry danish, chocolate croissant and a regular croissant. The danishes and croissants were so light and delicious. The cinnamon roll was great and even better when warmed up in the microwave.
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
i tried this place and i can say it's the best. the bagel was way bigger than most and it was for a really good price. i got a good breakfast for $9.

Yelp
Great service, quality counter culture coffee service, and delectable breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and fresh bread to take home. Highly recommend.

Yelp
[Coronavirus review] I stopped by in the evening, to find them selling out of a deck on the side of the building to keep business outdoors. I came looking for pastries, but they had sold out of a number of them and were wrapping up for the day. Not entirely surprising, but at least they did offer a discount on some of the leftover items typically eaten for breakfast. The cookies, muffins, and sundries that I got were shared around, so I can't comment on all of them. The oatmeal and raisin cookie and monkey bread that I had were dark, richly flavored, and full of fruit. I wonder what else I might have got had I stopped by in the morning, but it was an interesting haul nonetheless.

Catherine W.

Yelp
Such a cute little bakery. It was a bit of a challenge to find parking on the street but found a spot after a couple minutes. As we walked up the patio you could smell the fresh baked breads and cookies. The brown sugar iced coffee was absolutely divine.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
So, twice we went here and twice we arrived after the bulk of the products had sold out. But who cares!!!! What we got was still absolutely spectacular. While we wanted to sample the sticky buns, the bagels, the danishes, bell, even the breakfast sanities - we missed four opportunities. That's on us. What we did try, and oh my, were they good, were the cookies! Ginger molasses - heavenly. Snickerdoodle - double thumbs up and deep grant of satisfaction from the 16 year old. The Twix cookie - the 12 year old could only say "amazing!" So, we'll be back. And back again to try to get out hands on some of the other goodies.

Carol B.

Yelp
That French Bread is to die for!!! Bushes were so good too! Coming from NY where the bread was often phenomenal, this def made me feel like a taste of home! Their dog treats are awesome too!!!!
google avatar

Karisa G.

Yelp
Brown's Court Bakery is an amazing neighborhood bakery. We came for breakfast; this spot was an easy walk from our Airbnb. There was a bit of a line but from the different conversations around us it seemed like a popular spot. We ordered two iced coffees, cinnamon roll, strawberry rhubarb danish, and the overly orange muffin. Everything was delicious! Our son loved his muffin! I snuck a taste and it was delicious. The strawberry rhubarb danish. There are no words. It was so good- sweet summer in a bite. The husband loved his cinnamon roll. 3 happy customers. We may have to come again before we leave!
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
Stayed at an Airbnb right around the corner from this bakery and we went there almost every day of our trip. I normally like to try all the places in the area and decide which I like best but everything here was too good, I kept going back. Highly recommend the croissants, muffins, scones and iced lattes! Get there early before they run out!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Came here one morning for breakfast. Lucky for me, it's within walking distance of my hotel. Once I got there, it seems like you order from the side of this house. I got a chocolate croissant, a bacon sandwich (with a giant fluffy egg) and a green tea. The chocolate croissant was very flaky, to the point that each bite caused all these little flakes to break off so make sure you have some napkins or eating off a plate. The breakfast sandwich was massive. One sandwich will definitely keep you full for the entire morning. The egg in the sandwich was very fluffy and perfectly cooked. I'll definitely be back for more baked goods for a simple breakfast.

Jack L.

Yelp
Great coffee. Awesome croissant one day snd a danish on another. Wish there was seating there to chill snd enjoy the morning.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem! Our Airbnb was around the corner so one morning we decided to try it on a whim. The reviews seemed too good to be true but I can honestly say this was the best cinnamon roll I've EVER had. The blueberry muffin was also divine but the cinnamon roll was truly exceptional. 10/10 recommend. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in Charleston.

Yelp
5 stars for Brown's Court Bakery, because a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese is my dirtiest, raunchiest, sexiest love language. Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. I committed adultery with this toasted everything bagel with cream cheese. In front of my own girlfriend. She herself witnessed my overriding lust and desire. I couldn't help myself. It was one of the most luscious bagels I've ever experienced. Overdramatic much? Quite possibly. Over-exaggeration regarding the everything bagel with cream cheese? Not a chance. Alright, alright. I'll slow my roll. Brown's Court Bakery is a quaint bakery in Charleston that blew my taste buds away. Obviously, I'm still fantasizing about the damn bagels. You can tell there's a lot of TLC involved into the preparation of the baked goods. Our Airbnb was fortunately a two minute walk from here. Score! The only downside is that you have to toast your own bagels. Doesn't make much sense to me, however, sometimes I enjoy getting my hands dirty. Would recommend ten fold. Even to your worst enemies. Brown's Court Bakery for the win!
google avatar

Amy Lauren S.

Yelp
I can be a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, and Brown's Court is one of my favorites. Each bite contains chunks of chocolate, which is my #1 criteria for a good chocolate chip cookie- who wants "just cookie"? The cookies are a bit crunchy on the edges, but soft in the middle. You get the best of both worlds- not so soft that they crumble or tough to bite into. Brown's Court also sells other varieties of cookies, including a monster chocolate cookie with M&M pieces and a Capn Crunch cookie. Like the chocolate chunk cookie, these have a soft middle and crunchy edges too. If you're not into cookies, you can find bagels, bars, coffee, and even quiche. Parking can be tough, so be warned that you may have to walk and your cookie may not make it to your car.

Amy M.

Yelp
No seating and walk up service only. It wasn't until after I ordered a quiche and iced tea and asked what time they closed (while holding my computer bag), that I then asked if there was seating upstairs as the beautiful pictures indicated. Nope! Only one outdoor table in 90 degree temps was available. I'm sure the food & coffee may be good, but my quiche made of powdered eggs left a little to be desired.
google avatar

Lily T.

Yelp
While in Charleston this was my daily morning coffee spot. Their oats milk is by far the best of the many I've tried. Cute little coffee shop, they make all their pastries, and have the nicest staff.
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
We stopped by Brown's Court on a whim, thinking we'd walk away with a cookie, but instead it seems like we bought out the store. Once inside, it's impossible to choose just one thing! We ordered the Canadian bacon breakfast sandwich (on a yummy English muffin), the "monster" cookie (oatmeal, choc chips, Reese's pieces), an apple fritter, and an oatmeal cream pies. All, of course, were excellent, but the oatmeal cream pie was perhaps my favorite - really soft oatmeal cookies and flavorful icing. The staff was very friendly and helpful, offering options and recommendations. I will definitely be back to try more. The bakery is unassuming, located in a house, so keep your eyes peeled because you might miss it. Protip: after ordering, I noticed a basket in the back with day-old pastries marked 50% off. It was a goldmine.
google avatar

Suzanne A.

Yelp
What a cute neighborhood bakery in downtown Charleston. Due to Covid the shop was closed. Masks were required and you could order from a number of items listed on a board. They serve both breakfast and lunch. They are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. This bakery sells everything from donuts, scones, and pastries, ti breads, and breakfast sandwiches. Coffee, lattes, and other beverages were on the menu as well. When an item was out they would mark with an x as they came from day to day. We we're lucky enough to be staying at an airbnb just across the street but unlucky that we arrived Monday and left Thursday thereby not being able to enjoy all their many items. People there were super friendly. I will definitely be back when I return to Charleston.

Diane A.

Yelp
Fantastic bakery. Everything we had was outstanding. Bacon Gouda cheese quiche was light, fluffy, flavorful with crisp crust, donut holes were superb. Pecan roll was one of the best I've ever had, not too sweet with lots of pecans. Chocolate croissant was airy and chocolaty. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions.
google avatar

Bella R.

Yelp
Love this place if you're an early riser because their treats fly off the shelves. I'm dying to try their donuts but always miss them. Their baguettes are great for sandwiches and I love their brown sugar latte!
google avatar

Natasha B.

Yelp
Had a large order from this place and it was very good. We got a rosemary bagel, plan and sesame and all were good. The cream cheese is delicious, especially the veggie. There is a captain crunch cookie that was good and one that Oreos bakes in and that was my favorite. Croissants were buttery and tasted great with the cream cheese. They did accidentally mess up the focaccia in the sense that they forgot to wrap it the night before our order was supposed to be picked up. So it wasn't ready when we got there but it was ready and hour later and it was so good. The lady felt genuinely sorry and just didn't want to give us a bad product and she started baking the new one before we even got there. The the latte with chocolate granche syrup was so so so good.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
What started with an order for a scone and couple muffins quickly went off track and I ended up ordering muffins, local peach scone, blackberry pop tart, morning glory muffins, an egg sandwich and more. Let me just say, everything was perfection! The rest is for breakfast tomorrow but wow! Not one bad tasting thing! My personal favorite was the pecan sticky bun. Butttttt... the blackberry potato was a close second. Would highly recommend any menu item!
google avatar

Annabell A.

Yelp
I love this place for breakfast and a solid coffee! The workers are awesome and every time I come I feel just a little more motivated to take on the day! The bagel bombs and the ham and cheese croissants are my favorite and they do the best coffee in charleston in my opinion.
google avatar

Raven H.

Yelp
Incredible. Second trip of the day - if you are gluten free you know how hard it is to find yummy pastries, so when you do it is justification for two! Never have I had a pastry so good. This is light, fluffy, moist, and delicious. We are local and this is a regular spot! Coffee is also really good counter culture.
google avatar

Opal D.

Yelp
Didn't love the cookies, and they were out of chocolate chip cookies before noon. The breakfast burrito was only just fine. It wasn't clear if there is inside seating available or not.
google avatar

Sarah N.

Yelp
There is No parking and you will feel like you are in the wrong place, because it is down an alley among a bunch of single houses. Do not let this deter you. And make sure you go before 10 o'clock in the morning, because all the people who live in those single houses got up at 8 to get the cinnamon roll. If you are late like me and get there at 9:30 or 10 just buy whatever they have and you will be grateful. Everything is delicious

Anne N.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. The pinwheel, bagel bombs, and croissants were especially delicious. Don't forget the coffee because it's wonderful!
google avatar

Jen T.

Yelp
Get the danishes: bacon/pimento, brie and pecan... and the cinnamon twist. You won't be sorry.
