My mom and I had an amazing first time experience here. A special thank you to the male cook who took the time to come out of the kitchen and check on us personally. He went above and beyond to ensure that both my mom and I were completely satisfied with our salmon salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked. It was so flaky end the salad was so fresh!

Delicious, fresh, healthy! The fish and shrimp were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The veggie base is so good! We appreciated the friendly help from asst manager Lou. Get the golden lime ginger sauce. Appreciate that for dine-in, they have reusable utensils and dishes. We loved it!

Nice place to meet a friend for lunch. Friendly staff, fresh food, moderate prices, and outdoor seating available in the front. The decor was nice but a tad busy for my taste. Self seating, finding a table was no problem. Restrooms were clean with whimsical decor. My guest and I had several questions before ordering and the cashier was knowledgeable and didn't rush us. Street parking, didn't see a lot.

I came in late on Friday night and I had fantastic Experience. The chowder was so delicious. In addition, I had the blacken shrimp and to top it all off. I had the Salmon with greens and grains. This was a great find for a quick meal on our way to the lake - healthy, tasty and not too expensive. You can sit outside at picnic tables or inside at a booth. We built bowls from grilled salmon and shrimp - both fresh and satisfying. I'd rate it at the top the fast-casual list.

I've been here a couple times and had a great experience both times! The staff are SO nice and the food came out really fast. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The Salmon Veggiebox was delicious and I like that they have ice water if you're eating in the restaurant. There's good seating available for individuals and small groups. I've gotten the chocolate chip cookie before from other Brown Bag locations and it is really delicious.

I've never had a bad meal at Brown Bag Seafood! I love all the seafood offerings and at a fast casual setting. They are committed to quality and really shine with their dishes. My go-to lately has been the Grilled Catch-wild caught hake and switching between greens or grains or salad. I've pretty much tried all their proteins and you can't go wrong with any of the selection. The concept is simple, create your own dish by choosing a protein and the build (greens & grains, veggie box, salad, or tacos). You can either choose a premium sauce for an extra charge or they have a bunch of delicious house made sauces available. They also have sides to choose from (I recommend the tots, fries, or the chowdah). On the menu, they have a Golden Hour which I think is sooo worth it especially for the dinner plate. They have deals on dinner plate, sides, and booze. As mentioned earlier Brown Bag has always been consistent with their food and as a seafood lover I love the concept of fast casual without spending too much as you normally would at a seafood restaurant. The service is great, they are friendly, casual, and willing to answer any questions.

Really great spot. It was our first time and the manager Dee and employee Breanna were awesome and explained everything on the menu to us. Loved the blackened salmon and the grilled catch of the day which was hake. The greens and the salad dressings were also excellent.

Love coming here for lunch or a healthy dinner! They do a great Caesar which I have with salmon. I also like the dinner plate with sriracha salmon & veggies.

Brown bag is a nice spot for a quick meal. Ive only gotten the salmon, but the portion is fairly large and tastes fresh. The lemon ginger sauce is great! Good vibe for a casual weekday lunch.

I'm a person who doesn't like carb much, so "Brown Bag Seafood" makes it to ones of my "go-to places" for takeout whenever I don't feel like cooking. I love how many veggie options that I can pick and choose, mix and match to go with my fish. This Lincoln Ave. location is across the street from my hair salon, so the convenience factor..checked off! I love seafood and grew up with seafood readily available. To be honest, i know many restaurants offer a variety of seafood dishes. Nowadays I can't seem to find time to dine in and am worried about the pandemic because of many unknowns that can potentially affect our infant son. "Brown Bag Seafood" tastes great. The cooking doesn't overdo or mask the flavors the ingredients are supposed to render. In other words, I feel rejuvenated rather than feeling lethargic after eating it. For me, that automatically makes it this place a keeper! I also like their packaging, very clean and travel-friendly. I had their clam chowder for pickup a number times. This never spilled! My normal picks are salmon and whitefish with veggies or greens & grains. Even though I don't consume much carb as my personal preference, their truffle-parm tator tots have great flavors, yet still light and crispy. In addition, their food re-heats well in the microwave. Therefore, you can leave it in the fridge and eat it later on as you wish. In terms of costs, it's reasonable for a quality short-order restaurants like this. I have never had their non-seafood proteins, but I believe chicken is on the menu when someone opts for it. Their official website is open and is easy to navigate when ordering for pickup and delivery. It's also available on most 3rd. party platforms.

Fresh food with fresh ingredients - the food tasted very healthy and sat with me very well after consuming it! However, the service was poor - the cashier barely looked at me while placing my order and was uninterested in the customizations I wanted to make to my customizable bowl. I thought the price (~$15) was great, until I saw the relatively small portion that was provided and was slightly disappointed in this. Ambiance was nice! They had an aesthetic Polaroid vibe and seafood theme, with a line that went by fast but food that took a little bit longer to prepare.

Was looking forward to checking this place but in order to "create a safer environment for our guests and our crew." no longer take cash. This was too weird for me. Not sure what cash has to do with being safe.

Good location near the Park. Got the Hake + veggiebox which was very good. The chowder was hot and their fresh juice was tasty without being too sweet.

I got here w 5 minutes to spare for Happy Hour so I added a Margarita and Buffalo Shrimp that I didn't intended on ordering, plus 2 cookies! (I hadn't eaten all day...) I asked the worker what sharable was the most popular (the Green Garlic Shrimp) but I love the crispy fried and went with the Buffalo Shrimp. It was just okay, slightly overcooked and not particularly flavorful. Should have listened to the masses. For my entree I got the lobster roll with truffle tater tots. The tots were good, would have been amazing if they were still hot. The truffle flavor was present but not overpowering. I kinda worried about ordering a lobster roll in the middle of the country, but it was also pretty good! Lots of lobster meat with a properly toasted buttery bun. The cookies were good and chocolately but probably the most memorable was this very strong margarita. Service was attentive. The space inside was attractive and tidy.

Not that impressed. I got the cod tacos. The chips were soggy and they don't serve them with any salsa. No limes for the tacos. The sides of spicy cauliflower and "truffle" tots (basically just tots with cheese on them lol) are not anything special. There were kids running around everywhere and the ambiance was not pleasant. The few good things are the location, outdoor seating, and the skinny margarita is actually very good. I think I will just get a bowl the next time I am here, and for sure do takeout.

Mediocre and overpriced I needed a fast bite before an appointment in the area and this was my best option. I haven't been to Brown Bag since my days of going into Loop daily for work. I ordered the yellow fin sandwich, which seems steep at over $14 and no sides. The first thing I didn't like was I got random sauce without explanation; apparently it was a vinaigrette. Seemed like an odd pairing, but was ok. Second thing I didn't like was the top of the bun was buttered leaving my hands all messy. I could forgive all that for an awesome sandwich, but this was as I started out - mediocre. A few bites in, I hit the sauce bar expecting some type of wasabi based sauce to jazz this up, no luck. I grabbed a side of the Boss Sauce to see what it tasted like. It was fine, but didn't really go with the sandwich. The predominant flavor was bun, which is usually indicative of a small fish to bread ratio The place is cute, the staff seemed friendly, but it seems obvious why Frasca is packed and this place isn't even half full.

Decided to give this a try and the food was delicious! We got this to-go, so no review of the actual place. I ended up getting the lemon broiled fish tacos, which were absolutely delicious! The fish was fresh and the toppings were the right amount. I've had fish tacos at other places, where it was overpowered by too much 'slaw, but not the case here! The tacos came with some jalapenos and chips, which was a great touch. I also had the fish and chips and the beer battered fish was amazing. It came with three pieces but they were huge. The amount of fries.... er, sorry, chips that came with it was generous. My friends got the lobster roll and it looked absolutely amazing. I'll be ordering from this place again and I will definitely be giving that one a try.

My Chinatown lunch with my youngest son got "86'ed" today due to this retired guy got surprisingly busy. I was bee-bopping around Chicago's Eastside, Westside, Lakeview, Gold Coast and ended up in Roscoe Village. I got hungry and (of course) plugged in Yelp to find a place to eat. There were so many choices, but Brown Bag Seafood sounded great. Well, not only did it sound great, but it ended up being great! Brown Bag has a really comprehensive Seafood menu. But that's just beginning: Step One - Pick your seafood Step Two - Choose your build / Box Step Three - Pick your sides Order your drink, pay your bill, get your number, sit down, and wait for what ends up being, your really delicious meal. I ordered grilled salmon in a Greens and Grains box that was thoroughly wonderful. Their condiment table had hot sauce, Tartare sauce, Boss Sauce (their secret sauce) plus more - I used them all. Brown Box's service was fast, competent, and friendly. The place is pristinely clean (I could have eaten off of their floors) and was priced really smart. I can't say enough about how my $16 lunch impressed me. I will absolutely come back to Brown Box Seafood.

It's great location! Kinda pricey. Great flavors but I feel that can get less calories elsewhere when getting seafood. Tried 4 meats + 2 sides. Not impressed

My mom actually suggested Brown Bag Seafood for lunch during my latest visit and she's not one to really pick a place. We've been here pre-COVID and it's always been ok. I thought their concept of mixing and matching fish with some of healthier bases was good, maybe a little on the smallish side. We went when things had just opened back up so we got to sit inside. We ordered pretty easily, remembering their system. The food is still the same, grilled fish with healthy options. Their chowder has improved a bit, less watery and the service was great. My mom asked the person who brought us our food for lemon wedges to go with her water. He misheard her (she has a little bit of an accent) and brought her lemonade instead, didn't even question it, just brought an old lady a drink she wanted. She was a little embarrassed for the misunderstanding but he brushed it off, took away the lemonade and brought her some lemon wedges. You treat my mom right and I can't not be impressed.

Came in and placed an order for take out with Tee. Catch of the day and cauliflower power bowls. Ginger lime sauce for me, sesame soy sriracha for her. Absolutely killer; veggies were fresh and crispy, grains were cooked well, sauces were delicious and proteins were great. Tee is there running a one man band, it seems! Loved it.

Being from New England you come to expect at least a decent portion for 15. I wouldn't go back based on the portions. My 2 curry fish cakes on top of a veggie bowl is barely half the bowl. Maybe a cup of veggies. Totally not worth it. You can get half a dozen fish cakes and a bag of steamed broccoli for less. And no it wasn't stellar on the quality side.

My food was horrible! I was in the area and decided to try something new. I ordered fish & chips with a side of broccoli slaw, buffalo blue tots, and a side of parmesan truffle tots. The buffalo tots and truffle tots were ok. The hubby was really excited to try the tots and was not impressed. My fish and chips were not that very good. Put it this way, if I am in the area and I have to choose between McDonald's or Brown Bag I would pick McDonald's‍! For me there is nothing special about McDonald's. If I want good fish I will go to Sharks or J J's.

I had a nice quiet lunch today with a friend. I ordered the Fish & Chips with Gingerade and my friend ordered the Grilled Shrimp, Tater Tots, and a coke. There was a good serving of fish and fries, the fish was flaky and tender served with a small container of coleslaw, tartar sauce, and vinegar. My friend's grilled shrimp was room temperature but the rest was fine served on a bed of lettuce and what appeared to be Asian noodles and a side order of tater tots. They have a self-serve condiment stand for extra sauces, ketchup, etc. The prices are fair and the portions are good sized.

This is my go to when I know I need to eat healthy but don't feel like putting anything together. My favorite is the salmon salad and chowder. The dressing on the salad is to die for, in fact, I've attempted to replicate it on my own at home. At first glance, the salad doesn't look like much, but it is full of flavors and very light and healthy. I enjoy the clam chowder for my hearty fix - it is also light and full of flavor.

I order from BBSSS all the time. Tonight the driver didn't buzz me and literally left my bag on the sidewalk. I tipped 20%. He didn't even buzz me. And he forgot my drink. Didn't even apologize ! Then I open my salad and the bowl is half full. Like 5 leaves of lettuce. I called and the GM Billi was very apologetic. Offered to drive me new food over. It's too late. She offered to credit me the meal. Just very very disappointed ! Makes me not want to order from them anymore. Food was ok. It's like their quality has really gone downhill.

Omg why have I never come here before? My husband and I had lunch here earlier this week and it was wonderful. I love all of their options, their service, their tables and patio. I ordered the breaded shrimp on a salad with a honey soy dressing. It was so delicious. The shrimps were huge too! My husband ordered the shrimp tacos as well and he seemed to pleased with him meal. We sat inside, but I love the large windows/sliding doors that give you the best of both worlds. The patio is super cute too! I can't wait to come here more and try some of the other dishes.

Wonderful eating experience the chef showed great hospitality and the playlist that was on while I ate here was amazing definitely would recommend. And the willingness to work with you and help with the menu was nice as well!

Lobster Roll? why yes! $24? pricey? but it comes with truffle tater tots Ok - I'm in. I kinda like the tater tots a lot. The sandwich came with a generous portion of lobster but was a little dry. Maybe it sat for a while before I pick it up. We also had the shrimp sandwich- that was just ok

Overall: Brown bag is a great option for some quality casual seafood lunches or dinners. The good: The seafood that comes with your combo is right up there with pricey restaurant offerings. They have a daily catch, and our perch was a phenomenal pairing with the power box. It was cooked to perfection, tender, and had a nice griddle to it. There was a nice amount and balance of grains and spinach, and the lemon vinaigrette is a great touch. They also have daily specials for the menu, like free ice cream on Sundays or free delivery on Tuesdays, which is quite the perk. The not-so-good: The food took quite a bit to come out even though we were one of 2-3 tables on a Sunday late afternoon. The prices are a tad high as well, and the outdoor seating was uncomfortable. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 9/10

Its been awhile since eating here due to the pandemic. So we decided to come here for a quick lunch. We got the Lobster roll which was our usual sandwich. The price went up to $34. Less Lobster meat and the tater tots were cold. Will go to French Market for a better roll. Won't be back anymore.

The fish and chips is awesome...the house dips are killer with it! For a side I had the sauteed greens that were flavorful and tasty. Slaw was the only thing I would never want there again.

The fish tastes very fresh and is perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sauces are delicious. The service is very friendly, the ambiance makes me feel like I'm at a beachside restaurant.

I got the lobster roll/tots and it was SO good. The bread that the lobster is in is amazing and I would eat that plain. The lobster tasted very fresh, very sweet, and was not rubbery at all. Tots were incredible as well. Sad that it was so good because I ate it so quickly! Next time maybe I'll need to get two!

Our whole group tried all of the tots (hard to mess these up!) and the Louisiana slaw (10/10 and I don't even like Louisiana hot sauce). I got the curry fish cakes with the grains and greens (11/10! It was so perfectly salty and flavorful. And again the tartar was so good and I don't usually like tartar sauce.) One person got the white fish with salad and another got the tuna with the mixed and they both said their meals were also a solid 10/10. The gingerade was also soo good. The decor and vibe was also so perfect that I'm tempted to go and redecorate my house. Basically it's like a seafood Chipotle-quick, easy, healthy, fresh and really well priced! Excited to come back and try more!

My first time going to this location was back in August of 2022. It was an impromptu stop, and it did not disappoint. I didn't think I would enjoy this restaurant as much as I did, but it was a welcoming surprise. Whenever I am in the area again, I will definitely be stopping by again.

Are you hungry but you don't want to eat junk but also don't know what to get? Get their grilled chicken power bowl. I have had this like 4 days in a row, it's incredible. The chicken is always so tender and juicy. The flavors are incredible. It's getting me through the work week. If you're looking for a good take out staple that won't make your stomach hurt -- this is the place. Their website is super easy to re-order as well. 10/10.

Alright, their lobster roll was debatably the best I've ever had. I'll probably dream about it. But at $25, it better have been amazing. Their tater tots were nothing to write home about, and the truffle tater tots didn't have enough truffle flavor for me. The restaurant itself is a great casual place for lunch, and the ladies working checked on us often. If I ever felt like dropping big money on a lobster roll, I'd run back to here in a heartbeat.

Brown bag has high-quality, fresh ingredients combined into Fantastic food (that just happens to be healthy as a side note). The menu was complex and a little difficult to follow. I think it suffered from too much info & needed better grouping organization. It really needs a decision tree format to clarify what's available. The first division would be entrees, (including lobster roll, fish & chips and others without the 3 steps. After that their menu is pretty much the same as Chipotle (& others), except is that you choose the protein before the format. Don't know if they want to use another restaurant's name but at least people are very familiar with that ordering process. I'm sure the company wants to be unique but perhaps menu setup should follow others.

I have never had a lobster roll before and wow what a flavor it is! It came with a side of parmesan tater tots and I recommend the tots no matter what. Lobster roll was meaty and hearty. The buttery bread was a winner as well. Mouth watering indeed. They've got a good deal of other fish options which I would like to try the next time I'm in. Thankful that they have other locations in Chicago. They're environmentally conscious (to an extent) when it comes to straws. Make sure you glimpse the poster they have by the water refill station. This location is a good size with a clean interior. Less than a one minute walk from the brown line = score! If you're craving a lobster roll or fish in general, give this spot a try.

This is the spot for consistently delicious seafood! Even in Covid winter times the packaging is great, food stays hot and tasty until consumed. I have ordered from here at least 4 times now and each time has been better than the last! The best part is that it's super affordable for great quality seafood, thank you Brown Bag Seafood Team for keeping my seafood cravings at ease!
