"When the Duhanka building was constructed in the late 19th century, it was something of an avant-garde take on a warehouse, and became a major stop for the Dalmatian coast’s tobacco trade." - Mark Fedeli
"Brown Beach House This design hotel opened in Trogir near Split in 2016, bringing some modern sophistication to the mid–Dalmatian Coast. The stone building, once a tobacco warehouse, sits on a narrow channel that separates Ciovo Island from the mainland, soguests can arrange daylong sailing trips as well as crossings on a speedboat. The guest rooms have white-and-blue-patterned linens, silk rugs, and wood floors, plus marble-tiled baths with oversize tubs and showers. Also on-site is an airy library filled with art and design books, and a lounge where guests can play dominoes or billiards. The star of the show, however, is the sundeck, with its sea views, large lap pool, and white daybeds and umbrellas. At night, the shimmering blue light of the pool reflects off the hotel’s white stone walls, creating a serene place to wind down your day."

"When the Duhanka building was constructed in the late 19th century, it was something of an avant-garde take on a warehouse, and became a major stop for the Dalmatian coast’s tobacco trade. In its new life as the Brown Beach House, this already impressive structure has been improved with modernist design by Saar Zafir. Suites feel like the mid-century retro apartments of guests’ dreams, some offering windows onto the Adriatic sea. The hotel’s style is a perfect backdrop for a swanky lobby cocktail bar, and a second one awaits by the poolside, as does a full-service spa and Cartina, an open-air, farm-to-table celebration of Mediterannean dining." - Tablet Hotels
I loved this hotel so much and didn’t want to leave! I was able to check in early and received a room upgrade to a suite, which was so lovely. The staff is so authentic and nice - they are all just genuinely friendly and kind. The views from breakfast and lunch are divine. The pool is gorgeous and the beach club across the road is a nice change of scenery. I really loved it here and found it really relaxing. Will definitely be back!

Service was very kind and helpful, absolutely everyone we’ve met. Beautiful and calming location. Yet we had one of the worst espresso martinis of our life. For 34€. I wouldn‘t mind the price if they were worth it quality wise, coming from a person who has experience in hospitality. Maybe consider improving that quality.

Spent a week there, so probably have a detailed observation. Staff is nice and friendly, but rather doesn't go above and beyond. Hotel itself is wonderful, and makes you wanna spend time there, not just to sleep and leave. Food is really good, both breakfast buffet and a La carte restaurant. Beautiful patio and fantastic pool, however beautiful black and white tiles could be refreshed once in a while, same for sunbeds and pool towels could be more available. Generally would recommend to everybody seeking relaxation. I feel like some low cost efforts would make it even better :)

Amazing hotel! The staff were friendly and attentive. The beds were incredibly comfortable with fluffy pillows. Breakfast was delicious with lovely views of the sea. The spa centre & Mediterranean massage with Danielle was lovely too. It’s a short walk to Trogir town & for the ferry to split. Also a 15 mins drive from Split airport.

Only stayed here the one night but honestly wish it could have been more. stayed in a suite overlooking Trogir and the pool in front. Room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Dinner in the main dining room was exceptional. Wait staff and front desk staff were friendly, professional and efficient. Absolutely no complaints with Brown's. A nice experience. Would stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed here for a week for our babymoon. We had the basic room (some people said it was relatively small), but our room was in the main hotel and had plenty of space.
The hotel is set in a lovely area. It is a very short walk to the town, and it is safe to walk in the evening as it's well lit.
The hotel is beautiful inside. We have stayed in a brown hotel before in Athens, and it has the same 1970s theme.
The breakfast was nice but quite repetitive for a seven-day break. There isn't much going on in the hotel in the evening, so you will need to head out if you want more than dinner.
