I had the most delicious gluten-free and non-dairy cakes I've ever sampled at this place. The cakes themselves are works of art. The staff are very kind and generous. Everyone should try some of their baked goods! I will always return.

Tried the vegan/gluten free chocolate chip cookie and ordered a delicious vegan/gluten free birthday cake. Both were to die for! Even the non-vegans were going back for seconds.

I got cookies made for my daughter's 1st birthday and people were wishing we had more. So excited to have found this bakery and will be ordering treats from here again. Please stay positive and keep bringing the sweets!!

This small bakery is a godsend to those with food allergies (including dairy/egg, which our daughter has) or are strictly vegan for other reasons. The proprietor can whip up amazing baked goods, including cupcakes and birthday cakes that are so delicious and light and fluffy that you would not believe they are actual vegan. She is also quite considerate and made a single vegan and gluten free cupcake in an order of two dozen non-gluten free cupcakes that we requested because of a friend's kid who was coming to our daughter's birthday party who has celiac disease, and even put it in a separate container. That is the level of care she puts into her business. But the bottom line is that the baked goods here are high quality, reasonably priced, aesthetically lovely, and oh so tasty. Not sure if it has changed since we last placed an order, but this is not a drop in type bakery but rather an order in advance bakery. She did mention some plans to open a retail part in the future which we are eagerly awaiting!

We’re in the process of figuring out some allergies in our house while birthdays are happening. I ordered a gluten free, dairy free cake (how can a cake be made without either?) and was blown away at both how beautiful it was and HOW DELICIOUS IT WAS! I can’t say enough good things about it. Might be the best cake of any kind that I’ve had! I’m sad I live in Seattle and can’t be at the proctor farmers market every weekend.

Amazing baked goods and so friendly!

Not sure if this company is still operating or not. Sent an inquiry about getting a birthday cake two weeks ago and never heard back.

Hands down the most amazing vegan bakery around!! All of my non-vegan friends are always shocked to learn that they are eating vegan!

Yelp
I went to this place to pick up a cake my wife ordered for our daughters' first birthday. As funny as it sounds, my daughter's birthday was on Easter so Liliana stayed late to work on the cake for us on Saturday. I picked up the cake and went home. Little did I know, as soon as I got home, the cake fell apart. I was driving carefully but if you are from Seattle, you know the roads are not safe for cakes. When I got home, I was depleted, sad but it was out of my hands. My wife was so positive and said that's ok, let's make a memory out of that and she planned on fixing it. When she assessed the damage, she didn't feel comfortable trying to fix the cake. So I called Liliana back and told her what happened. Mind you, she's already tired and needs to prepare for Easter the next day, she was so worried and almost got a heart attack when she saw the cake. But she said I am not going to let this happen for your daughter's first birthday even if it means working late and delivering the cake on Easter. I have never ever seen a customer service such as this and the icing on the cake was that the cake was absolutely amazing. If that wasn't enough, she called me the next day to check how everything went and if I was happy. I know this place is hidden but if you are ever in need of any vegan cakes or desserts, you know where to go. I have already told my friends and my family and will continue to spread the word, she's AMAZING!

Yelp
I'm doing this review in two parts. This is because I haven't actually eaten the galette, this review is just about the experience I had while placing an order here for the first time and won't be the last. I feel bad because I didn't get the lady's name I ordered with, however, she is amazing. I found this bakery by looking up gluten-free vegan bakery. Typically I stay away from places that don't have a lot of reviews. The photos looked delicious, so I decided to roll the dice. I called to order a dessert, I do things incredibly last minuet (I ordered Thursday and she had it ready on Friday). Since I'm well aware of that, I accept the consequences that come with procrastination. Sometimes I get lucky and can come through. I called and said that I needed a dessert without the following because my really amazing friend has allergies: - cow milk dairy, wheat, eggs, honey, sugar cane banana, pineapple, clams, crab, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and amaranth... But I didn't know of any desserts, and she suggested a galette. I was like sure, she said are you sure. I was like given the fact that I couldn't think of any desserts yeah! The tart smells and looks great. My friend is super excited. I will update this review, once we've eaten the tart.

Yelp
Outstanding cake and pastries that just happen to be vegan. I am not a vegan - but we do have a vegan in the family. Our daughter (a vegan) asked that we have Brown Sugar create her 21st b-day cake. It was well worth the drive from the Eastside to Seattle. While picking up the cake I spied some chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies that I simply could not resist. - Cake: 5 stars. 6 inch round chocolate mousse. Three layers dark choco cake layered in dark choco mousse and covered in creamy choco frosting and also covered in ganache, with a couple of large strawberries on top. My gosh! Wonderfully moist, soft, dense cake with just the right amount of sweetness. We had 8 people. The quantity was plenty, and we were all sated. - Shortbread cookies: 5 stars. Incredible! Nice weight and thickness in the hand that screamed to be devoured. Three of us shared - including my partner who loves shortbread cookies and found these to be a premium experience. Gluten-free versions also available. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. We'll order again from Brown Sugar Baking....

Yelp
I help plan a catered fundraiser each year and we have loved using Brown Sugar Baking Company to round out dessert selection for those who are vegan, gluten-free and nut-free which thankfully Brown Sugar Baking can do. It is very rare to find a place that can accomplish all three of these. We ordered some dessert bars and chocolate chip cookies and our attendees loved them--and said they were great--which I'm taking their word for since they always get gobbled up before I can try any. Lillian was pleasant to work with and literally "delivered" even after some snow/ice had thrown a wrench in to some service delays around Seattle. Thank you Brown Sugar Baking!

Yelp
So excited that we found a vegan and nut free bakery! My niece has these allergies and it's always so sad to see that she can't enjoy the party cakes like everyone else. I looked on yelp and luckily found this wonderful bakery!!!! I highly suggest ordering in advance for graduations. They also do weddings :)

Yelp
If you are looking for desserts for an event, look no further! We ordered the carrot cake squares, brownies and lemon bars for a company event. I wish I could have taken pictures because they looked like fancy petit fours(?) with pipped carrots, ganache topping, and candied lemon peel. But they were immediately devoured by our guests!!! I would highly recommend this business for parties, corporate events, weddings, etc. Everything was beautiful, delicious, and the service was incredible :-) If you have a larger order, place it 2 weeks in advance, though you can probably get away with 1 week in advance since Lilian is baking everything, everyday, and was very accommodating with fitting our order in. We wanted delicious food that everyone could eat, and everything was egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free and nut-free. The brownies and lemon bars were gluten free! But I didn't tell anyone unless they approached me and asked if there were any XXX options. I could tell them "yes! you can eat all of them!" No one suspected they were vegan. Even if you aren't vegan I would suggest you support this business, you won't be disappointed with the presentation or the taste and will delight all your guests who may be allergic to eggs, dairy, or wheat. Lilian, the owner, is very lovely and gave samples to the coworkers who went to pick the order up, who then raved for days about her kindness and how delicious everything was.

Yelp
This is the best gluten free vegan bakery! They have the best chocolate chip cookies and apple tarts. The only down side are there business hours, but they do take orders and they are really good with accommodating your needs. I love this place. Plus the owner is awesome! She is the nicest person I ever met! Definitely going back!

Yelp
Excellent food! Brownies are super-fudgy. I've had cakes, cookies, cupcakes, poptarts, lemon tart, and brownies and everything is always FRESH and delicious! You can't go wrong here.

Yelp
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. I always look for Brown Sugar Baking Company's goods at Madison Market (and everywhere else I go, really). Chocolate chip cookies are perfect, her brownies have this crazy carmel layer + chocolate frosting that is to die for, and even the gluten free brownies are delicious. The other day I tried a cinnamon roll for the first time and was blown away -- the bread was not-too-sweet and it was very brioche-like in texture (vegan brioche! there's something I never thought I'd have) with AMAZING cream-cheesy frosting that was totally deliciously tart. Delicious.

Yelp
Some of the tastiest vegan desserts I've tried and SUCH variety! The owner is also super friendly. I'll miss going to get treats at the Columbia City Farmer's Market now that I live in North Seattle. But I'm planning to order a cake or other treats for my 30th next month. Love love LOVE this place!

Yelp
Brown Sugar Bakery made the cutest custom cookies for our fundraising event. They were delicious and adorable (pig-shaped!), and I would definitely recommend them for anyone else! They were also very fast and prompt with communication!

Yelp
I ordered a vanilla smash cake from Lillian for my 2 year old's birthday. She absolutely knocked it out of the park and I couldn't have been more pleased. It was, hands down, the best cake I have ever had. Great texture, amazing flavor, and beautiful! The love and attention she put into the cake was palpable. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I finally got to try Brown Sugar Baking Co at the Queen Anne Farmers Market and it was everything I hoped it would be! Their cinnamon rolls are huge and just as delicious as the vegan rolls at Cinnamon Works in Pike Place, but a bit softer with more icing. I also tried a chocolate chip cookie. It was very good, but the cinnamon roll was love at first bite. I hope to catch them one last time before the market ends this year to try a vegan pop tart (and of course another cinnamon roll). So happy to find another amazing vegan bakery!

Yelp
I stumbled across this when they had a booth at the phinney farmers market. I am not vegan and am highly skeptical that vegan cookies would be worth eating thinking that they would resemble cardboard. I had to go dairy free when nursing my son and am really missing the wonderful desserts made with dairy. I have found some good substitutions but not homemade cookies. The brown sugar baking company have me a taste of their butterscotch chocolate cookie and it was so wonderfully chewy and awesome. The baker wanted us to try her new old-fashioned oatmeal cookie and it was amazing. I can't wait until my next cookie from them!
