I enjoyed the tour and got impressed by the interior. You can learn about the history of the owners. There is a garden as well. There is also a souvenir shop.

If you live in Iowa this is a must stop to learn about the families behind the biggest industries in Cedar Rapids. The home is filled with an amazing history and I truly enjoyed the tour.

Google
Beautiful historic home tour. Ticket prices are very reasonable for such a lovely tour. We saw the Christmas display, but wish to return in summer to see the gardens. Staff was very kind and knowledgeable.

Google
Only toured the grounds so can’t speak to the inside of the house. Grounds were beautiful to walk around, some paved paths, but otherwise you can just walk through the gardens and hilltop. Free to see the grounds so worth it for a quick stop. They could use some better signage for some of the buildings. Even if we had time to tour the house, didn’t even know where to get the tickets. One staff member we saw was less than helpful and couldn’t even direct us. Google maps may take you to the “exit” to get in, so look for the one small sign on 1st pointing to actual main entrance.

Very beautiful place, I was awestruck by all the amazing things inside the mansion and the history of the mansion and all the different families that have lived there was very interesting. I highly recommend touring this place if you haven’t already. It’s was and is absolutely amazing.

Google
Worth the price of admission. We had a great tour guide and it was just two of us . Tours are every hour. Gardens and property are nice to walk through as well. Very interesting history. Don't miss the basement

We had a former tour guide with us. It would be really hard to enjoy the beauty of this home as much without the knowledge of the tour guides. They are invaluable! Beautiful estate! A gem to the city of Cedar Rapids.

Google
Such a beautiful place, the entire complex of buildings and grounds are so well maintained and offer a wonderful experience to visitors. I love how they are so active and offer great entertainment to this community. It is gorgeous in both winter and summer with all of the beautiful flowers 💐 in the garden.

Yelp
I thought I had written a review of Brucemore but hadn't so this is a little late. I took my mom (who had always wanted to go) there in early June. I honestly wasn't excited about going but definitely was wowed. It's worth the price of admission. We had a great tour guide and it was just two of us. Tours are every hour. They definitely have a script but once our guide got warmed up, he shared a lot of information and stories with us. Gardens and property are nice to walk through as well. We were told they didn't have a gardener at the moment but the gardens still looked good. There's a pet cemetery on the property. (The last property owners had lions and monkeys and German Shepherds and other animals throughout their tenure.) Go see it after the tour so you know what you're looking at. Also know that there are some private homes now in in the carriage house and servants' houses so don't explore too much. Very interesting history. Don't miss the basement. (Also know that there are four flights of stairs and no elevator so plan accordingly if needed.)

Yelp
First time there for the blues wasn't sure if I was gonna get my $25 worth but the Avey band was great the lead singer she has some pipes on her and the guitar player hurt his guitar. I'm not taking away from the other guitar player or the drums. They were all wonderful, but the guitar player and the lead singer or the two lead singers, I should say have a really good vibe and they were very entertaining, but let's get back to Bruce Moore let's address the elephant that's always been in the room. It ain't never left. The blues came from slavery so the 1% of Cedar Rapids white people did not have any Black people on that stage. It was a majority 99.5% white there wasn't any black vendors and I don't think they're doing a very good job of promoting the diversity that is here in Cedar Rapids but that's Cedar Rapids in general they think white and that's all they see cause in their eyes white is right which they are wrong. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round so they need to do better because there's enough Black people here and people of other races that could benefit from that yard, and they could pull in the Latino the African, the black the Italian the other races. I don't know all the races here in Cedar Rapids, but Bruce Moore could make way more money off of all the cultures here if they took advantage of that and think out of their one percent I am privileged box and for you people that are reading it that are white that I think you don't have this white privilege look around look how you treat other people, regardless of your economic status cause I am a mixed race and I see it daily and I have no problem putting white people in the white privileged place, don't let that white privilege get in your way

Yelp
Wow! What a cool place. The outdoor part of the property is huge and beautiful for walks or taking in nature but the tour of the mansion is something you don't want to miss. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and the house was so well restored with so much of the original furniture and character from the three eras of Brucemore. So impressed and very grateful to have had the experience.

Yelp
Massive estate in Cedar Rapids. Interesting self guided tour outside. We didn't go into the mansion. A good way to spend an hour or so walking around and getting a lesson in the history of Cedar Rapids.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The house and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Admission is is very reasonable and it goes into preserving the house and the property. I took a tour and the guide was very knowledgeable and patient while I asked a lot of questions. I would definitely go her again and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
The concert itself was very good. Not many people were dancing. Very much an older crowd of people and they played songs mostly from the 80's some from the 70's. BYOB and snacks. Had a lot of damage due to the storm so still rebuilding.

Yelp
I'm ashamed to admit that in all the years I spent living in Cedar Rapids (I was even born in Cedar Rapids) I never once visited Brucemore. Better late than never. We visited over the holiday weekend, as I really wanted to see the mansion decorated for Christmas. The decor, our guide and the overall atmosphere of the home were top notch. The tour incorporated all aspects of the house; from the basement to the 3rd floor to the servants quarters. If you visit you'll even get the opportunity to see original one-of-kind works by Grant Wood and Marvin Cone (pioneers of the Regionalism art movement; both artists are from Iowa) that were gifted to Brucemore's previous owners, Margaret & Howard Hall. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the Cedar Rapids area, as this home encapsulates so much of the city's history. Interior photos and video are not permitted.

Yelp
Visited Sunday on memorial weekend. Not much was open today so we ventured here after lunch at Vivian's. The place didn't open til 12:30 but you can walk around the gardens and grounds. I did that and then we go to buy tour tickets and after we pay are told tour is at 1:00. We wanted to go to the Kernels game at 2. We had to kill another 1/2 hour reading displays and watching a video before the tour. Brucemore was originally built by Sinclaire Family and Mr. Sinclaire passed away at his meat packing plant his wife traded and sold house to Douglas Family then oldest daughter Marilyn inherited house and she lived there with her husband and pets including lions. Marilyn passed and gave house to National Historic Trust. There are only community events held there and no weddings. Also no federal funding. Tour was the whole house and the coolest thing was Mr. Hall's basement man cave of Tahiti Room. Although this mansion is nice, the ones in MN of Glensheen and James J. Hill house are much fancier.

Yelp
Definitely worth the money. But the tours are on the hours and take an hour to tour the house. Plan to be there 30 minutes in advance to purchase your tickets and go to the introduction museum to become acquainted with the various owners before taking the tour so you know the storyline in advance. The tour covers the inside of the house. 3 Floors along with the basement. Approximately 50 steps. The building is currently undergoing a major external restoration project. Great tour guide. Very informative and passionate about the historical details. They did a great job with the internal restorations. Many of the original materials are well preserved and the craftsmanship of the ornate furniture is incredible. Afterwards there is plenty to explore on the grounds. Plan to be there for a few hours. But overall a pleasantly educational tour.

Yelp
I love all the events that Brucemore allows on their grounds. What a fabulous place for the community. I don't do it as often as I would like but I love having picnics here it's peaceful and beautiful. Thank you

Yelp
My husband and I went during the holiday season, and can't wait to go back. On the tour, you learn a lot of fascinating details about Cedar Rapids' history. The mansion itself is beautiful and awesome to explore. Our guide and all of the staff were great. Highly recommend -- especially when it's decorated for the holidays!

Yelp
Nice educational tour. We went in December so we were able to see the holiday decor.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful grounds. Bf and I went to an outdoor play this summer for Annual Outdoor Theatre, which is something Brucemore does every year. I think we've found an awesome tradition to keep! We brought a picnic and a bottle of wine to enjoy (I encourage this, it makes it even more fun and oh-so romantic!) I would love to go on the Garden Tour at least once. They have events scheduled all year round, events catered to children and special Holiday mansion tours as well. Up until recently, they did not rent out the facilities but I see on their website that has now changed.

Yelp
The annual garden show- nice excuse to walk around this property and mingle with the locals!!! Picked up some good tips on composting and met some pretty cool artists....GO C.R.!!! Hopefully this venue expands to a few more vendors or a better variety of plantings- but overall is worth taking a day and chillin at the mansion.

Yelp
My wife had never been to Brucemore and it had been over 10 years for me. It was worth the trip for both of us. I saw and heard about things I don't ever remember hearing before and my wife enjoyed the experience tremendously. We were there before Christmas and that made it even more special. I would suggest this as a great way to spend a couple of hours when visiting Cedar Rapids. My only suggestion would be to consider not taking small children. The entire interior of the house is more or less off limits to touching.

Yelp
The informative guide gave a great tour of this vast estate. The history was of Brucemore is worth the price of admission. The house is well preserve as the National Trust tries to keep it the decor true to the times.

Yelp
Brilliant place to visit and absorb culture, peace and serenity.
