I used to live in Chicago and got my theater fix there but they can’t compare to Brüka. It’s in the people, regardless of the play the execution and performances are top notch leaving me to wonder and daydream, never-ever wishing things to be different. I don’t know if it’s my presence that’s easily recognizable, but they always know it’s me coming back and make me feel welcome.

After several years of talking about going to see Buttcracker and missing opportunities because tickets and shows sell out fast we finally had the pleasure of joining Bruka Theater for Buttcracker 7: Osmosis - YAY!! For December 2016, Buttcracker 7 performance was a mashup of Wizard of Oz meets hillbillies for lack of better and let the side splitting laughter take over from start to finish lol. Purchasing tickets like the other reviewers shared was easy-peasy but be sure to not hesitate like we have in the past or you will miss out on a unique take on a classic holiday favorite, that will have you laughing hysterically and enjoying every moment of this wonderful theater troupe. Side note: I must share with you that I have gone to traditional Nutcracker ballet performances since I was a little girl and my husband & I continue with the tradition by trying to go every other year while enjoying the Reno Philharmonic - just a little bit of our history with the Nutcracker story. Continuing - we have been interested in changing things up a bit so had an idea of what was in store for us and this spin with hillbillies meets Wizard of Oz was wildly entertaining and kept us in stitches. We are sooo glad we spent the evening with Bruka Theater - it was a HOOT! THE costumes, makeup, set design, choreography and the storyline was everything we hoped it would be and then some. We look forward to seeing other performances here and of course another Buttcracker again! Thanks Bruka Theater again for a wonderful evening!

Ladies, Gentlemen, and those who have yet to make up their minds! My sweetie and I went to see Kinky Boots, and we LOVED it! I will say that the actors/dancers are faaabulous. The voices are strong and true, and the musical numbers make you feel them in your heart. I didn't want it to end. The crowd is very eclectic and fun, there were young adults, lots of middle aged folks like us, and some older folks. It was a great mix. I really felt like I was part of the show, which is a wonderful advantage of a small theater. If you enjoy the movie version, you will LOVE the theater version (be aware that there are a few minor differences though). We are both disabled and the management was so accommodating. They made sure we were comfortable and had an escort at intermission to be able to access the restrooms as they are located downstairs for "ables". For us mobility challenged, we needed to go outside the side door (rolling through a puddle of pee that some dude so nicely left in front of that door) and down the sidewalk with our escort to get there. No big deal, but just be aware. They only seat 68 people, so get your tickets NOW! Don't wait and don't miss out.

Went to a play with a friend of mine. I had been once before and enjoyed it. The seating is comfortable, bathrooms are clean, bar is well stocked and reasonable. I do feel that their ticket prices are a little high, but that is just my opinion. I have always enjoyed little theater companies like this. Fun if you are looking for something different to do.

Google
There's a neon sign in the shape of the Burning Man logo inside of the window.. Wonder what it means?? I attended a performance of The Dresser there last winter. The performance was excellent, the seating was comfortable couches arranged in a stadium seating arrangement, and the audience was friendly and social. The only disappointment was that I had to leave.. Already on my way back!!

Dan Villarreal

Google
I've been to two shows here. There was a person in the audience at each performance who insisted on verbally inserting herself into the performer's lines in a way that eas incredibly disturbing and disrespectful to the performers and the audience. What's worse, she seems to know the management, and they tolerate her obnoxious behavior (even though I spoke with the proprietor after it happened the first time and she seemed on the surface to understand my upset). After the second time, I won't be going back to a theater that makes it so clear that it's only concerned about a few annoying insiders.

Google
This was a great theatre! They have comfortable seating and they have drinks and snacks available. The acoustics were great and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Kacey Crooks

Google
Comfortable atmosphere where you can watch some pretty quirkey plays. They also have a delicious bar and snack bar downstairs.

Yelp
I REALLY need to update this review! The one from 2012 certainly does NOT reflect my current opinion of Brüka after attending numerous performances here. Looking back I still agree the welcoming atmosphere, comfort of the seats and ease of viewing the stage, and ease of purchasing tickets. Shout out to Holly for being a great box office manager on top of the other 5,000 duties she has with Brüka. Over the last 11 years, we have attended some amazing productions of traditional, familiar works to cutting edge topical pieces and the hilarious local-centric productions. Some plays are funny, some are hard to watch, some are thought provoking and some are just flat-out enjoyable. Do I like all the plays? Not always. However, the consistency of good actors, creative staging, and brilliant adaptation of a "black box theater" makes it what makes the magic of theater . . . . . magical. I apologize for the negative review based on one show. I should have taken a step back and looked at the big picture. Brüka is a stunning example of community theater at it's best. Thank you Mary Bennett for your vision and artistic direction in providing high quality theater for the Reno community.

Yelp
I took my daughter on a little mother daughter date to the Brüka theater. We had a fun time! The original show times I bought tickets for was canceled but they were very professional and proactive about calling me to see if we could come in at the an earlier show time. They have drinks and snacks for purchase, comfortable seating, and the staff was very friendly. I'll definitely be taking my daughter to more shows and glad they offered a kid friendly show.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the best theater I have performed in (performed downstairs in Bruka theater). Mary Bennett is such an angel and makes you feel like it's your own space even though you are a visiting performance. Plenty of chairs and mirrors backstage and they made complimentary coffee for the actors. Such a wonderful experience! The audience also gets a very intimate experience with the cast as there are no bad seats in the house. You can see everything front and center.

Yelp
Very nice community theater. Bought season tickets this year so I'd go to all the shows, and I'm glad I did. I'm not a sophisticated theatre type, but I did enjoy each production, some more than others, but all adequate, and never disappointing. I enjoyed seeing people doing what they love for no pay, and for nothing more than producing a enjoyable time for strangers. Thank you to the staff and performers for your efforts this year. And yes, I'll be purchasing season tickets again this year...and next...and the one after that...

Yelp
We caught a showing of Kinky Boots at the Bruka Theater last week. It seemed like the star we're all already aligned. Ted Lasso mentioned Kinky Boots, then a friend mentioned how cool the Bruka Theater was after seeing the previous show. So when we walked by the theater on our anniversary date. We stopped to inquire but found tickets we're sold out. An actress entered the theater and encouraged us to show up at 700 for standby seating. We went to dinner, canceled or movie tickets and walked back to the Bruka to wait. The theater is super intimate with only about 65 seats in shared couches. All of the staff was super friendly. The show as super fun. We will most definitely keep the Bruka on our radar.

Yelp
I went and saw a wonderful show with some friends and it is a cute little theater. I really enjoy that. The seating is couches.

Yelp
Took my mom to a Sunday matinee of the current show called The Moors. They open the doors half hour before the show and close the doors (no late entry) at show time. Even though there was only about 6-7 couples in front of us, it did take a few mins to get in, for whatever reason people got hung up during the check in process. The seating is mostly 4-person couches and someone ushers you to a seat. There is a small but stocked bar down a set of stairs but there is also an elevator for people who can't manage the stairs. It was a cold day and I was hoping for an Irish whiskey, the best they could do was a small cup of coffee with a shot of Jameson. $20 for two of those. Hmm, probably pass on cocktails and stick to a pour of wine. The play itself started a tad slow but got more and more entertaining (except to the older ladies sitting next to us who didn't come back the second half) The play is a dark comedy and definitely has some funny moments. I don't want to give anything away so beware if you're a prude you will probably be offended by some content. I (and my mom!) however, really enjoyed the show and the intimate venue and are already planning our next show (probably Buttcracker...)

Yelp
Last night I saw the closing show of Waiting for Godot. The four lead actors did a phenomenal job, as did the one less visual actor. The play took a good two hours and it kept your attention at all times. And although this was the closing show of this performance, it was the first show since the beginning of the pandemic. Because of it's size they were taking no chances, and you had to show you vaccine card to enter. Sofa seating only, they kept groups together on each sofa, did not put chairs between the sofas in order to practice safe distancing. And yes, unless you were actively drinking you were asked to keep your mask on. (A small price for trying to get back to normal.) My daughter and I were guests of Jacob & Michele. Jacob's father was the lead actor Vladimir but Gogo (Estragon) kept calling him DD. A few years ago before the pandemic I saw an amusing Christmas show here. Might have been The Buttcracker .. it was really cute. This is one of those Support Your Local Business opportunities. A small local theater ... all local theaters are always in need of support. They've been there for years and you can park in the 1st Street parking lot (between Sierra & West). I think they even validate. Absolutely should check out this great venue. Help keep them going.

Yelp
Nice little venue. Located downtown on S Virginia St and W 1st St. Best place for parking is right in front of it ( about a block a away) CalNeva The Theatre is small but very cozy. There some couches for you to seat and watch the play. The stage is small but nice because it is very close to you as you watch. They sell tickets online and at the door as well. Keep in mind, that discounted tickets only work if you buy online one day before the show. They have bathrooms downstairs as well as a small vendor for snacks and wine. We watched THE CHILDREN. The cast was friendly and very professional. The play itself was pretty interesting. Highly recommend it. It brings some discussion points for afterwards.

Yelp
Cute local theater with comfy couch seating and generally good plays. I've been here for multiple plays and I've had so much fun. The seats are comfy, check in is easy and there is a bar downstairs if you want it. There is no parking close, so you will need to plan on parking in the garage and they will validate for $1.

Yelp
A fantastic evening of top top local theatre talent! Finally got back to Bruka for a show! It has been quite a while, but Victor Victoria reminded me exactly why I'd enjoyed it in the past. The theatre is intimate, guests seated on loveseats with the stage starting right at their feet. Sets are remarkably impressive. Their transformation a show unto itself. The actors, amongst the best in our community. Victor Victoria was a blast, and the cast quite engaging. The storyline followed a woman, pretending to be a man, pretending to be a woman, dealing with the topics of homosexuality and gender identity in an intelligent manner, tempered by humor and elaborate musical numbers. The cast was incredibly fun, and I found myself sinking into the shoes of the characters, as if I was an onlooker in the scene, a sure sign of good acting. If you haven't been to a show here, check out the lineup and go!

Yelp
This was a epic theater experience! I got these tickets for my husband's birthday on a Wednesday. I've been to a couple of theaters in Reno and I love the smaller more intimate ones. This was a drag show and we both love that having been to some in SF in the past. This spot was awesome! They had super comfortable couches and it was a super quite night so we had a front row couch. I loved the "vibe" of the people that greeted us and gave us the rundown of the theater. I loved it so much that I got tickets for thanksgiving week for the fam to go as well. I'm so enjoying finding interesting and cool new spots in Reno for entertainment. I'm happily surprised at how much it has to offer.

Yelp
First time back to Bruka post-pandemic. The current performance of "Kinky Boots" is phenomenal. The leads, Michael Davanzo as Charlie Price, and John Paul Rivard as Lola deliver incredible performances. They are supported by a large cast of 20+ who bring great energy, heart and storytelling to this musical. If you've never been to Bruka, this show would be a great introduction. It's a very small venue so you'll be up close & personal with the actors. FYI- the air conditioning was not functioning, so it got quite warm, but well worth a little discomfort for such an amazing show.

Yelp
If you've never experienced interactive theatre, treat yourself, better yet, treat yourself and a loved one, to a night (or matinee) of creative genius. The Bruka Theatre's production of The Reflections of Tarantula Jones is a must-see, must-experience theatrical event that redefines the theatre's Fourth Wall. Actors and audience become immersed in one another, stage and theatre lose their separation. You're never quite sure where performance ends and the 'real world' begins. The result is entertainment at its best. The writing is brilliant, and the acting imparts this brilliance to you, the audience, in remarkable fashion. Don't be surprise that professional theatre can be found in, of all places, Reno Nevada. Go to the Bruka Theatre now, knowing that your participation helps our Biggest Little City establish itself as a creative stronghold for The Arts!

Yelp
I've been to about a dozen or so plays here and my experience this past weekend reminded me of how much I love this place. I saw "Nation of Two" on opening night. Showroom service was spectacular, they let us pick where we wanted to sit and were given a couch to ourselves. Nothing fancy, no frills, just service, comfort, and great shows. They have a bar downstairs that has very reasonably priced adult beverages. Since it was opening night there was a champagne reception with appetizers provided by Wild River Grille. They've recently upgraded their restrooms, which is nice. I've seen an incredibly diverse set of shows here and love how they keep it variable. If you haven't been here- so yourself a favor and go!

Yelp
If you have not to the Bruka, you will have to make your way down. I have lived in the Reno area since 1996, and this is the first time going to the Bruka theatre It is not a big theatre, but a small intimate theatre where there really is not a bad seat. We say the Nutcracker, it was hilarious, but that is another story. I really believe in supporting local theatre, and this group does a awesome job. The theatre is set up in a black box set up. If you are not familiar with that term, it is a small theatre where literally the first row is on the stage. The actors make due with very little stage and Backdrop changes. I hope to be back soon.
google avatar

Deb A.

Yelp
Pro's: Quaint with not a bad seat in the house. Comfy (and new!) couches, live performers RIGHT in front of you. Con's: Like any theatre show, ya' just don't know what your gonna get-didn't dig this particular show-left at intermission. Little 4 oz wine poor $7!!!! Go back? Only if I felt very certain there was a high likelihood of enjoying the show. I do not guess there is any good reason to review the show I saw. This venue on Yelp is about the theatre, not the shows...I guess? Regardless, I know this is a local, maybe kind of "starving artists" labor of love for those performing and running the venue however, that $7 glass of wine was a rip-off. I would have had 2 if they were $5 a glass so they actually lost money on me.
google avatar

Debra K.

Yelp
This little theatre is a real treat. We went to see the Nutcracker, which was hilarious. The theatre itself is very small, with seats in the front row and couches or love seats in the back rows. Seating is general admission, first come, first serve. We called ahead and let them know about our disability, and they totally accommodated us. If you are familiar with black box theatre, that is what this is. There is only seating facing the stage, not on the sides. It is a very small, intimate theatre where you are literally right on the stage with the actors if you are in the first row. They sell drinks and snacks in lobby. Why four stars? The accessibility for disabled people is difficult. There are steps going into the theatre and steps going down to the theatre. There are no ramps. If you were in a wheelchair I do not think you could do this. I will say though that the employees were very helpful guiding me up and down the stairs.

Yelp
A quick shout out to the Bruka Theatre and its staff. Had the pleasure of seeing, Lion in Winter, excellent performance by all. Local staff, theatre easy to find, lots of places to eat and enjoy the beverage of choice in the vicinity. For future performances you can purchase tickets on line at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2252061. Support the arts in Reno.

Yelp
This is a great local theater in Reno. The customer service is exceptional. One of our party didn't realize they purchased tickets online for a previous night and missed the show, but they were able fit them in. We enjoyed the holiday favorite The Buttcracker. Full bar is available too. Look there season of plays and be sure catch one when in Reno or definitely if you are a local. Gotta love this place.

Yelp
Bruka Theatre is a long-running local community theater that presents a wide variety of plays and musicals each season. I've been there many times, and it's a fun, quirky place to support local theater. Inside, the seating is all on ratty, secondhand couches, from loveseats to big sectionals. If you're in a group of two or three, you'll probably get your own couch, but if you're by yourself or arrive late, you sit wherever there's room, so arrive early for the best seats. There are a couple of rows of movie-theater-type seats in the front for those who don't want to lounge on musty, funky couches. Drinks (including beer and wine) and snacks are sold downstairs, which is also where the bathrooms are (beware, the ladies' room is a scary one-seater, so it's best to go before you go). Some productions are also presented downstairs, where there's a small stage and some cafe-style table seating. You don't receive actual paper tickets - call in advance to book seats or pay at the door. They will validate parking at the nearby parking garage at 1st and Sierra, but you have to remember to bring your ticket along. While the quality of the material, acting, and sets varies, an evening at Bruka is usually entertaining, if nothing else. But beware - if the play you're seeing is a yawner, those comfy couches make it all too easy to fall asleep. And yes, the audience and the actors can hear you snore.

Yelp
Wild oats. Fabulous!!!! What a great show. . Fun, entertaining, great acting. What a great evening Bruka!

Yelp
Amazing, quaint theater to watch a play. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's been updated since the last time I was there (too many years I let pass, won't let that happen again). I saw Abducting Diana last Saturday. Funny, witty, enjoyable play. Excited to see what they produce next. Can see myself as a regular.

Yelp
Bruka is hands down my favorite "little" theatre in Reno. It has character, it's intimate, and it's got a full bar! The seating is eclectic - you are either on a couch making friends with strangers or sitting in a movie theatre style seat down in front. There is no bad seat in this house. Due to the size of the theatre, you almost feel like you are part of the production and the cast and crew certainly foster this feeling. Once you are seated by whatever amazing staff is playing usher that evening you can drop your program on your seat, to hold your place, and then head downstairs to the bar. You'll want to do this ASAP as the line builds up quickly! They also have snacks. The prices might be a little high but c'mon people they have to pay the rent for that amazing space somehow. SO crack open those wallets and support your local artists...by having a drink and watching a good show. I don't see a downside here?!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Darling little black box theatre. Its not really fair to review this place based on a single performance, so I'll try to touch on the non-performance aspects. Seating was comfortable, on IKEA-esq sofas, with clean black slip covers (th front row had typical theatre seating). I was surprised there were not more sugglers/loungers, like we were. However, the sofas may cause drowsiness. We had no problems with sightlines, or acoustics. Never did we strain to hear what was being said, or jostling around to get a better view of the stage. Bathroom is downstairs and a single stall, so lines can get long. There is also a small bar downstairs, and another small intimate stage. I can't imagine that they ever do 2 shows at the same time (it would be too noisy I think), so not sure what the other stage is for. Maybe just rehearsals? Lighting, costumes, set pieces/props all looked great. Certainly not as extravagant as a Broadway show, but very much inline with a good community theatre play. Next time I'm in Reno, I will be sure to check out the Bruka again.

Yelp
This is such a tiny place, but they can do a lot with it. I just saw 39 Steps. The atmosphere was great. The tickets are reasonable ($18 online). Be sure to get them online, they can sell out quickly. The couches are comfortable. The draft Ichy was $4. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I have seen two shows of the 2014 fall season. Impressed by the quality of volunteers. Impressed by acting talent and the theater itself. Intimate and not a bad seat in the house. As a patron you are taken care of and invested in. The choices of theater have been under four cast members and makes the quality of acting, sound, lighting, and stage craft all the more evident. The only complaint I can even muster would be something completely out of the companies control. The walls are thin and street noise comes in. However you will most probably be caught in the rapture of the humanity spilling out in front of you to notice.

Yelp
Saw Shirley Valentine here last weekend. It was one of the best live performance experiences I have ever had. Fantastic venue, great staff.

Yelp
I was able to attend the Buttcracker 8 in this theater. LOVED IT! I chuckled out loud at this performance. Extreme creativity was set into motion by this crew. Great entertainment!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this theatre! Perfectly intimate with little black loveseats (very comfortable!) positioned so theres not a bad seat in the house! The staff are lovely and good fun. Watched Wonder of the World and had laughed my ass off. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is for the 1 stall bathroom which can make for long waits. Again, this theatre is itty bitty, but well worth your time!

Yelp
The Bruka is a nice little theatre. The performances are thought-provoking and often times quite funny. The talent of the actors is consistently good. Staff are always helpful, courteous, and even entertaining! The seating is nice. I've sat in different parts of the main (upstairs) venue, and have never had a problem seeing or hearing what was happening on stage. There are regular seats, but I opt for one of the sofas -- very comfortable. Downstairs there is a walk-up window that sells beverages, including wine/beer. The presence of Bruka really enhances the Reno artistic scene.

Catherine R.

Yelp
I realize how important local theater is, especially for the up and coming youg actors involved. And I applaud their mentors. Bruka is critical to this community, and we enjoyed one other production there this year. However, we just saw *The Buttcracker* and I realized that my expectation of parody is that it be nearly as polished as what it mocks, with elements of surprise in its timing. This production seemed like a free-for-all, tacky and juvenile. The Encyclopédie of Denis Diderot distinguishes between the parody and the burlesque, "A good parody is a fine amusement, capable of amusing and instructing the most sensible and polished minds; the burlesque is a miserable buffoonery which can only please the populace." Lastly, the couch seating is a great concept, but truly, they need replacing to avoid injuring backs. Ouch! And bah humbug!
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
I'm a regular Bruka patron. I think the creative team, whose core is Mary Bennett and Scott Beers, do a great job. Most of the actors that participate in the various productions are quite talented. I miss Michael Grimm, though. He was one of their best actors.
google avatar

Shelly B.

Yelp
Love this venue! Comfy couches to cuddle up with your loved one while you watch some great plays. Staff are a delight and you'll never know whom you might see there!

Yelp
One of the coolest, most creative, down to earth companies to be entertained by and work with this side of the Mississippi. Great talent, great space, and great energy. Definitely one of the things I miss most about Reno, as it is one of the city's treasures- so underground and hip,it's hard to believe that a place like this exists in The Biggest Little City.
google avatar

Stacey D.

Yelp
My Giant and I went to go see the "Buttcracker" which was super original and fun. The seating were comfy couches and well placed. The music was set to the actual Nutcracker...which was fun to see a different turn on the actual ballet. I had a great time. Lots of convenient parking all around the facility.

Danguole L.

Yelp
I hereby resolve to come to these productions more often. When I heard they were doing "The Book of Liz," written by two of the most hilarious people in the Universe according to me (David and Amy Sedaris), I jumped at the chance to see it, and I'm so very glad I did. To be honest, I hadn't been to Bruka since elementary school field trip days, and that's a shame. It's small, friendly, down-to-earth, full of talent, and comfortable. The seating consists mainly of large, plush couches--AWESOME. And the bar downstairs serves Great Basin Icky, our proudly local brew of choice. This place deserves your support!

Sophia M.

Yelp
We love local theater and always try to check out a production when we are on vacation. It happens that our one night in Reno coincided with Bruka's production of The Shape of Things. It was a bargain night, so we got tickets for just $10, a steal! The theater is a sweet little space, not a bad seat in the house. Get there early and grab one of the love seats. The staff was friendly and the production was great. Bar downstairs where you can also a snack. f we lived closer, we would certainly come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This great company has delivered some of the best arts entertainment and education to the Reno community. I've never been underwhelmed with any of their shows. REEFER MADNESS THE MUSICAL was especially hilarious, and they presented one of the best renditions of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW ever. I follow them on Facebook, and I'm looking forward to catching their reenactments of late-night TV shows the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Great local theater on comfortable couches. All seats are good. Local actors/actresses are very talented. We are always impressed with the acting and the sets-- great value too. I do wish they had better snack choices at the snack bar.

Yelp
Small intimate theater. Friendly bar staff. Tickets are a little pricey, but keep it local right?!? The play we saw was not stellar but it was an enjoyable experience. Have also seen their children's theater preform and that was fun!

Too small and only 3 actors, but fit us in when tickets were sold out.

Yelp
Scott Beers and the hearty crew of the Bruka Theatre work their butts off each year to offer Reno some culture, and they do it for love and to make a living. If you're on a vacation to Reno or are just stopping through town on your way to or from Burning Man or the Elko Cowboy Poetry Festival, I recommend buying a ticket for a show at Bruka.

Yelp
I would like Bruka to have a web page so I can see what is playing, for how long and what is coming up! I have enjoyed all the plays I have seen.

Yelp
I saw Buttcracker here in December. The breakdown of my experience: Tickets: Purchased online. Easy-peasy. A little pricey, but that seems to be the trend in this area for community theatre, and I'll happily pay for quality art and entertainment. Support the local arts!! Arrival: It was COLD outside, and I arrived a bit early because I had seen on facebook that the event was sold out, and I wanted good seats. They had someone directing patrons to their seats, which I guess is better than open seating for getting that many people in a tight space without wasted seats, but it was SLOOOOW going, and I did NOT enjoy my time in the cold outside waiting for the line to move! Still, not a deterring factor--just something I'd like to see streamlined a little more in the future. Staff: The folks working here were FABULOUS. Ticket-takers, handing out programs, greeting and directing us to seats... All wonderful! So many smiling, welcoming faces. Almost made me forget about the long wait outside. Seating: OUCH! No, literally--OUCH! They have a great, unique approach to seating, offering clean, modern-looking couches instead of hard chairs or standard auditorium fare. I was looking forward to that. However, they apparently calculate seating assuming four people to a couch, and that is NOT realistic! Three people, absolutely, but four is more than a stretch. I was physically in pain for the entire performance. Maybe they oversold tickets and were trying to accommodate everybody who wanted to see the show before it closed, but they sacrificed the comfort of those who purchased tickets in advance and came with larger groups to accommodate those who missed the deadline. Tricky line to walk, and I was on the lousy end of it. Performance: Hmmm... I don't want to badmouth an original production that clearly took a lot of time, energy, and LOVE to put on, but I didn't love watching it. The choreography was fun, the music was from the Nutcracker ballet and not to be poo-pooed, but the sound quality through the speakers was painful at times, and the voice-over was very inconsistent in terms of volume (sometimes ear-piercingly loud, sometimes almost impossible to hear). The lighting was good, the set was effective, the performers were clearly having a great time... I guess that's it. The PERFORMERS were having a great time. I wasn't. I felt like I had just paid a pretty penny to watch people goof around with their friends on stage. It reminded me of neighborhood kids getting together to put on a skit for their neighbors. The concept was cute--zombies! Who doesn't love that?!? And adding humor to what I find a long and dull ballet to watch year after year was a stroke of brilliance! Just... It wasn't very polished. Dancers were not in sync, actors were giggling and laughing and breaking character... HOWEVER!! I seemed to be the ONLY person in the audience having this sort of reaction! That is IMPORTANT--if ONE person out of an overcrowded house isn't loving it but thinks it's cute and EVERYONE ELSE is rolling with laughter... Well, I'm thinking this just wasn't the show for me. I look forward to seeing more productions here. I've seen several of their stock actors performing elsewhere, and I know them to be very gifted. I hear wonderful things about this company, and the venue and people are fantastic! Maybe I'll just stick with something a little less "original" next time?

Yelp
Saw "Wonder of the World" last night. It was a GREAT show. The acting and directing was incredible. If you have not been to Bruka it is time to catch one of their shows and this would be the perfect first time show. Once you see one you will be hooked and will settle for nothing less than season tickets.

Yelp
cozy little theatre with a fabulous group of volunteers. A lot of good local talent that puts on an eclectic selection of productions. All of them good! Beer, wine, and some hard drinks are available. Limited snacks. Long lines for bathrooms.
