We have visited Bruno's new location twice in the past month, and I'm happy to say the quality is just as outstanding as ever. The pizza and Bruno Dough remain excellent--just like in the pre-COVID days. Our server, Scott, who came from the old location (yes, I remember the ORIGINAL original spot!), provided excellent service as always. It was fun to chat with him about the old days and old location.
Over the years, we've tried nearly every highly recommended pizza in the Indy area, and nothing compares to Bruno's. In fact, it's easily one of the top three pizzas in Indiana--right up there with House of Pizza in Hammond and Aurelio's in Munster/East Chicago. One year, we even made a statewide pizza tour, and Bruno's still stands above the rest.
A few changes to note: Bruno's now only serves beer and wine (no more cocktails, which longtime regulars might miss), and the menu has been streamlined. Gone are some classics like Spaghetti a la Caruso and chicken livers, but the essentials--pizza, sandwiches, pasta, and salads--are still fantastic. No more fondue tower for Valentines. We'd get that for our anniversary.
I'd give the overall experience 4.5 stars (the small space is the only drawback), but the food itself is a solid 5. Maybe someday they'll expand to a larger location.
Fun side note: I chatted with a customer from Illinois who claimed Bruno's beats most of their pizza--so much so that they make the trip just for it. Well, we drive up from Indy for Bruno's too, so that says something!
