I was in Kopenhagen for two days, going back and forth between Malmö in Sweden and Denmark. An trip. I am an anal traveler, so I have the places I want to visit (especially food) planned out in advance. Enter BRUS. I wanted to try a burger not from the States-- I don't like hamburgers; and I wanted Danish beer. Why? Because it's Danish beer. I had been in Holbaek earlier in the day and made some new friends while touring so I had them come meet me after they went back to their place and changed-- they were also from New York and happened to know friends of mine. Serendipity across the world. Anyway, moving to why we're here.
Drinks: I went with the tricerahops. Easy drinking, light, 6.2% ABV. Nothing heavy. My friend has the Cucumber G&T- gin and tonic. And I think the other has the Pineapple Expression. I can't remember off the top of my head, but all solid drinks.
Food: The main course. Burgers, Korean Fried Chicken (I know, what?), and fermented fries with fermented mushroom mayo (again, what). Now, the burger hater in me was not excited to try this. But the foodie in me knew it was time to throw away my inhibitions, and boy am I glad I did. Dense, soft, well-seasoned, cooked to perfection. I like my beef medium. All I heard around the table was silence. I take that as a really good sign because we all got burgers. The fries made no sense. Who decides to ferment fries? And why wasn't it done sooner? These fries were crisp, texture was amazing, and the taste was so different. So there was also vanilla ice cream. I did not
Oh the space? It's a brewery. So open industrial with so many tables. But there are also plants, so mixed industrial with a touch of nature. Either way, very comfortable. Next time in Kopenhagen, guess where I'm going? You guessed it: BRUS.
As always, happy eating and drinking. MarieMG. partake, though I did have a small bite. They could not stop talking about it for 2h post. Safe to say it was delicious.
