Bru's Wiffle - Review - Santa Monica - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You’ll recognize Bru’s Wiffle by the line down the block. This breakfast-only fried chicken and waffles joint lives up to the hype - the fried chicken is always perfectly juicy, the waffles are fluffy, and you can easily stretch the giant serving into two meals. There are other options on the menu, but we can’t comment on them, because there is no point in ordering anything but the waffles. Bru’s is tiny, which accounts for the constant wait, so you might want to consider getting take-out (or delivery, if you can find it on one of the apps). A to-go order will also provide you with a picnic you can take to the park across the street." - Amy Clark

Brü’s Wiffle in Santa Monica is a fantastic spot with a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The chai latte was absolutely amazing—perfectly spiced, smooth, and comforting. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a great vibe. Service is also super fast, making it an ideal place for a quick stop or a relaxed coffee break. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a great drink and a warm, inviting environment!

One word...AMAZING!!!! You have to try this place! It is an intimate place, but I would not change anything about it. Everything just works, the staff, the food, the location. I would definitely return to Bru's Wiffle if I were in the area. Everyone in my party enjoyed our food. We had great conversations, and the server was attentive. You all are killing it! Great job!!!

Stopped here on the way to the beach and was a good experience. The restaurant had good food and drink options. Latte was good. Food was not anything special but it was made very well. The staff was nice and hard working. We sat inside but found out there is an outdoor patio in the back. Would recommend Bru's to anyone.

The food was absolutely delicious, every dish I tried was fresh and flavorful. What really made my visit stand out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly polite and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. The service was impeccable, and you could tell they genuinely cared about their customers.

Probably the best breakfast I've had from Santa Monica since being here! My sister and i walked in and were able to get a table right away! The server was super nice and attentitive, and my breakfast pasta was huge! My sister ordered some breakfast toast and i got pasta and it was super worth it. I cant wait to come back to Santa Monica amd eat here again, totally made our day! We ordered: Banana milk (not too sweet, perfect) Banana cream latte (not too sweet, more espresso-tasting which was great in my book) Bloody Mary (the soju was really nice!) Vanilla latte (it had a cute cat on it and the vanilla syrup was suuuuper good!) Breakfast pasta (be prepared this is a ton of food, enough to share between two people as a light meal or a super heavy meal on your own) Truffle egg toast (this was so good omg)

Went on a Sunday morning and our wait was about 30 min. Circled around for street parking for a bit but that's expected for this area. Once seated we were able to order pretty quickly. Servers were friendly, outdoor seating in the back was nice given it was a beautiful late morning/afternoon. There were 3 of us and we wanted to try a bunch of items on the menu since it was our first time. We ordered popcorn chicken, cheesy hash, shakshuka, bru's French toast and the pizza omelet. We finished off everything! The pizza omelet tasted so much like pizza that I didn't miss the crust. Will definitely go back when in LA.

We went for brunch on Sunday around noon, there was a wait line, it took around 20 minutes to get a table. The chimichanga was great, the fried chicken with cheesy Hashbrowns was really good, my only complaint is that they give such a small portion of hashbrowns compared to the size of the chicken. The bloody Mary was pretty good. The lavender mimosa wouldn't recommend, I love all lavender but the syrup wasn't good at all. The hot chocolate/mocca was delicious. Nice place but Will not return.

Yelp
quick service, cute place. they have some outdoor seating out front and potentially in the back (not 100% sure since I didn't go out there) but the inside is quaint and has a decent amount of seating for a smaller place. the service was quick when I went (10:30 am on a Friday). they were kind as well. I haven't had a good gluten free chicken and waffles in quite some time so this was delicious and a great portion of food (enough for a little bit later). the only thing I would say could use a slight improvement was the syrup. I am unsure what kind it was but it didn't have a strong maple syrup flavor which I typically would prefer with chicken and waffles. Overall, great food, cute ambiance, friendly staff!

Yelp
Once upon a time (about 10ish years ago), Bru's Wiffle was the place to be. The line used to be out the door, and you had to strategize to get a table, but the food was worth it! These days, there's a similar wait for a table, but it seems for different reasons - perhaps service issues. I got seated after a bit of a wait and ordered; the server wasn't very friendly, but I get it, the place was busy. But then, it took forever to get my food, an eggs benedict dish. I saw everyone get their food around me as I waited and waited. When the food finally arrived, the poached eggs were overdone. I'm not sure if it was just how things went on this day, but sadly, I didn't have a good brunch.

Yelp
The waitress added a fraudulent extra $10 into our bill after we gave her the card. It was equal to what the 20% would have been but there was clearly no 20% mandated gratuity. When we pointed it out, she just said sorry and reran it for the correct amount minus the $10 fraudulent extra. This was on Sat Aug 24 afternoon. Would we not have caught it, the waitress would have given herself a 40% tip instead. Pretty sleazy to steal money from your customers like that. Will never be coming back and warning others of the same.

Yelp
Overall, I feel like this place could be great, but I think it was missing a few things. We waited a while to get our food and my food came out lukewarm. The food didn't taste bad, but I think that the quality of service and time it took to get to the table was too long. The menu was extensive and they have a lot of seating so I would return to retry, but I wouldn't rush back.

Yelp
Fun spot with a cozy vibe and good food. I started with the blueberry mocktail and really enjoyed it! I'm inspired to make my own version at my place. Next I ordered the Dwight's Special and added a fried egg. I thought the meal was solid and filling. The chicken was missing a little something, maybe some more seasoning? But the texture of the fried chicken was really good and I enjoyed it nonetheless. Came here with a friend after he recommended it and overall I was happy with my visit!

Yelp
Amazing! The outside patio, the service and menu were all great! I got the chicken n waffle spanish style. It was normally something i wouldnt order, and it did nit disappoint. It was Amazing. A perfect Saturday morning brunch. I need to return to this SoCal location.
google avatar

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place and their unique take on chicken and waffles. I enjoyed the festive chicken and waffle! My friend enjoyed her omelette as well. Outside patio seating allowed us to enjoy the great weather.

Yelp
Delicious eggs Benedict in a casual spot. We waited a little on the Friday after Thanksgiving to be seated for our party of six. They were accommodating and very kind. The food was excellent - especially the cheesy hash browns. And the pancakes were decadent. There's street parking and also some in the neighborhood. Look forward to trying more menu items!

Yelp
This place gives a hole in the wall vibe, and it's off the beaten path (not that popular). We got a table so quick at 11am. The service was fast too. We ordered, and the food came out in about 15 minutes. Which may or may not seem long (to each their own). The waffle was so good! It was perfectly crispy and tasty, and the chicken on top was perfectly cooked with good breeding that was a bit spicy, but it was delicious. I wasn't expecting a whole lot due to the o the place gives, but I think it's a great little local find that has amazing waffles!
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Excellent food! Blew my diet with pecan Belgium waffle! And egg whites side. Parking is difficult but worth the wait for the food. Chicken and waffles seems to be a favorite!

Yelp
I have only been here once for a birthday brunch, but I did enjoy the mimosas and the food!! I love a good brunch spot and the food was really good! They do get busy so I would recommend a reservation and factor in carpooling because there's only street parking.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Came here today for breakfast with a couple of my friends. This place has been on my bucket list and I couldn't wait to try it. When you first walk in, the restaurant is so warm and inviting. It definitely has a welcoming vibe to it. It's a good sized restaurant with plenty of seats so we had no issues with our party of 5. The staff were so welcoming and nice. They suggested great recommendations for dishes and were so personable. The food is simply amazing and the portion sizes can't be beat for the prizes. For food, we ordered a number of items. We ordered the big breakfast, the breakfast slides with waffles, and the hashy browns with crispy fried chicken and eggs. Literally every dish was amazing and came out so fast. I will definitely be back and this is hands down my favorite brunch place!

Yelp
Bru's Wiffle in Santa Monica, is the OG Bru's in my eyes. The service is always on point, the restaurant is always clean, and the chicken and waffles are always piping hot and never cold like their Marina location. The menu is quite extensive and gives you loads of options to pair with your chicken, or waffles, or neither! I prefer the traditional chicken and waffles with all of the condiments on the side. This includes the buffalo sauce, ranch, syrup, and ketchup. With so many delicious options, there's always something for everyone. The drinks are delicious, coffee and mimosas included. Just make sure to come with patience, especially if it's a weekend, because the wait time can definitely be a bit much. Kid friendly, and an old time staple. Cheers Yelpers xx

Yelp
I love a good use of sound symbolism in terms of name marketing. What's the difference between a wiffle and a waffle? This is a genuine question and not a setup for a joke. I need to read what these people were thinking in terms of choosing the name. Maybe it's catchy because of how unusual it is. I digress. The service was good. The food offerings are quite unique. When a place is named after a food, you always gotta order that food. We ordered two savory waffles and they were both delightful. Sharing between three people, we ordered three items, which seems like a sweet spot. I will always remember to order family style after my stint in Taiwan. I digress. We were taking a friend visiting Los Angeles for the first time for her first bite of food, and it was a good choice on our part to come here. It had been on my list for some time and a visitor is always a perfect reason to try a new place!

Yelp
My friend and I enjoy sharing their eggs benedict with smoked salmon with potatoes. It is a perfect portion for us. The interior is painted a sunny bright yellow now. It is a happy color! The staff here are all very attentive, even when they ate busy. There are a lot of yummy options on the menu. I always enjoy coming to Bru's Wiffle. Metered Street parking and a few small spots in the back.
google avatar

Daryl K.

Yelp
Love love love! Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast/brunch. To start the variety of mimosa options was great and everyone on the staff was so nice and friendly. Felt like family owned and staff all seemed connected as such, maybe they are i don't know, but have the family owned vibe and it came through in everything! The food was delicious and good portions. Again, definitely worth it!!

Yelp
Hadn't had a chicken biscuit in 20 years. Grew up on Chick-fil-A, but then developed food allergies in high school. Finally found Bru's Wiffle and ordered gluten-free chicken for delivery and then combined it with a gluten-free biscuit from Johnny Ogroats = delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
My first time at this spot was quite the delight. It has a cozy, homey vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The servers were all super friendly and helpful, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. If you're a fan of juicy, perfectly seasoned chicken strips, look no further - they're a standout here. The waffles are fluffy and just the right amount of sweet, and the portion sizes are pretty generous, so sharing is definitely a good idea. We tried the Green Salsa Chicken with waffles, which was tasty but a bit on the heavy side for my taste. Dwight's Special was simple yet delicious, and while the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was juicy, it didn't quite deliver on the spiciness. Overall, though, it was a great meal and I'd happily come back for more.

Yelp
Customer service was amazing. The manager waited on us and she was nice sweet and polite... very good manager Food was amazing as well

Yelp
Really good food. The service was excellent as well they were very attentive. They have a patio in the back that's great if you have a dog. Definitely recommended

Yelp
Popular brunch spot known for fried chicken and waffles. Came here on a Sunday around noon and the place was bustling. Indoor seating available. Street parking. They do serve alcohol. Credit cards accepted. I had the Dwight's special which came with two pieces of chicken (boneless) and your choice of waffle or French toast. I prefer the waffles. The syrup comes on the side along with a ranch and an aioli. I also had the lavender honey latte, which was on the sweeter side and lighter on the lavender, but still tasty. It came with a little cat design which was super cute.
google avatar

Janiah S.

Yelp
Everything was amazing, from customer service all the way down to the food. Chicken was crispy and fresh, waffles were moist and fluffy. Highly recommend for a breakfast and dinner sitting!
google avatar

Jaclyn H.

Yelp
Say what you want but Bru's has the best chicken and waffles in town AND they make a gluten free option as well. They take classic dishes, add their flare along with fresh ingredients and it's a recipe for a delicious meal. The staff is so welcoming and inviting. Even if you're not a regular, they make you feel at home. They don't have a children's menu but they do offer a mini waffle for little eaters.
google avatar

Helie L.

Yelp
Consistently great. The portions are generous and tasty. But what stands out to me is the kind service. I've been here at least a half dozen times this year and alway well taken care of. On this visit we had the amazing Noel assist us. Perfect person for the season. To me people and atmosphere is by far more important than a Michelin . Ciao Mein till next Thursday with Jay & Lily.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
The food tasted soooo yummy We sat outside in the back and it was very pretty with all the plants and veggie garden. Our waiter was nice
google avatar

Peter T.

Yelp
Once again we had an awesome meal here. The meat lovers omellete is jsut amazing. So tasty and their blazing sauce just the right amount of heat. Only variation this time was a tasty hot chocolate. The staff are the best too, so friendly and efficient... Love this spot...
google avatar

Yelp
Wish it was better service food wasn't all that . Neither were the mimosas . The ambiance wasn't that great either .
google avatar

Shareen S.

Yelp
First of all, make sure you go to the correct location. Perhaps I am the dumbass here, but I had ordered, I could not find my confirmation number and upon arrival, I had waited 20 min, before finally realizing that it wasn't this location it was the Santa Monica location. All of this for avocado toast. That is what I ordered. #cravings After an hour, it's not that tasty. I'm sure it is when it is fresh, I likes the ambiance of the Marina Del Rey one was super cute. I would go back for sure, and eat in.
google avatar

Ginger N.

Yelp
You'll be happy you came. Huge menu, savory, sweet, great service. I'll be back. Already planning my next order: spicy chimichangas or crusted pistachio French toast
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
I had the hash n benny and it was epic, so good that instead of greens ordered with it I switched for more potatoes.. lol The hash browns were delicious with onions and green and red peppers in the mix. We had a great brunch here and we will be back!
google avatar

Rose B.

Yelp
This place was good! Solid breakfast food, no complaints. Good service. Ambiance was very casual, and there was no wait on a Sunday, which is hard to find in LA.

Sevil A.

Yelp
I come for the gluten free fried chicken and waffles. Never disappoints! So many great things in the menu snd love their Turkish coffee!!
google avatar

Erika B.

Yelp
One of the only places i've seen with a gluten free fried chicken & waffle option. It was okay, but only because it has no competition in this department. The waffle was sooooo dry :'( Probably wouldn't go back
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
There's a sign that says parking in back but they expanded their patio so there's street parking / meters in the area. We were seated without any wait which was amazing for a Saturday morning around 10:30. They told us the kitchen was taking a bit longer than normal, but totally fine and appreciated the heads up when we sat to order. Bru's Wiffle has simply the largest menu in a great way and lots of sweet and savory options. I've been craving waffles so I tried the blueberry waffle (with extra fresh strawberries on the side) and the chicken and waffles since it's so popular! Both were delicious and what you'd expect with good flavors and the waffles were nice and crisp but still fluffy inside. I also tried the iced lavender latte and the lavender is strong but not over powering, I'd get it again! They have such a big back patio and decent inside space too so nice and easy for brunch with friends.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Cute stop in the middle of Wilshire. Was a little cramped and noisy inside so unless that's your vibe maybe opt for outdoor seating on warmer days. Everything else was great! Like most breakfast places you'll leave here very full. There's not too many reviews or pictures on the pasta fries, we thought it would be fries with pasta on top, but it's actually fried pasta noodles! Interesting texture, but the sauce definitely saves it. The chicken and waffles was immaculate!! You'll definitely have some leftover waffle though.
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and were we glad. Super tasty, albeit a bit pricey but I guess that's CA. Had the churro waffle and the king waffle And both were definitely on point. If you are in the area and need a breakfast bite definitely stop in!
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Total banal garbage. The menu is a joke mishmash of cheap Mexican food and chicken/waffles. Everything is $25 a plate with no apparent reason why. There's no chef. Anyone could slap this menu together. Forget the dirty walls, crooked wall art, and decor that makes about as much sense a a yard sale. All of this would be FINE if their prices were about HALF of what they are. At their price point I'm laughing wondering who they think they are. There's an enormous difference between a restaurant and just cooking food inside four walls. Please don't waste your time. The city can do better.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Food was really good, great brunch spot for a weekday since it wasn't busy, weekends get super busy though Service was nice too We sat inside and it was cute and cozy. Backyard patio is really big too.

Killer K.

Yelp
Very decent breakfast spot, some room for improvement but enough to make my come back. Belgian waffle: 4/5 it's a little on the softer side still not quite like that crispy soft you get in Belgium but one of the better waffles in LA for sure Eggs: 4/5 they cook them pretty well Cheesy hash browns: 3/5 meh definitely nothing to write home about

Yelp
Ate here end of June this summer with my daughter, niece and her son. Food was incredible and I can't wait to come back and eat here again! I'll bring my son next time too.

Yelp
WOW one of the best brunch places I've been to, especially with their extensive menu. It took me a very unreasonable amount of time to decide what to get. Since it was my first time, I went with "Dwights Special" 2 pieces of fried chicken atop a large waffle. Had to go with the classic and what they're known for: fried chicken and waffles. I love that there were no bones in the chicken, it wasn't oily AT ALL; that was a surprise. It was very lightly battered. The waffle was large, light, and fluffy with such great flavors. I'm always hesitant with the chicken being served on top of the waffle because of the oil making the waffle soggy, but NOT HERE! The Melted Wrap (onions, mushrooms, cheese, and fried chicken) SO GOOD. The cheese was ooey gooey and the chicken still had a nice crisp to it. We would order this again in a heart beat. We got here at 1130 on Saturday and we were seated right away; there is so much back patio seating. By the time we left at 1pm, there was a line. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Marissa T.

Yelp
We walked in and absolutely loved the look of the restaurant. It's very clean and looks updated inside. We started with coffee and fresh juice, which was absolutely delicious. The food portions are huge and the presentation is wonderful. The flavor of the food does not disappoint. Come with a big appetite! None of us were able to finish our meals. I have a very extensive menu of waffles, chicken, and waffles, scrambles, and everything else you could imagine!
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
Ambiance 3/5: squeezed indoor dining and spacious patio dining in the backyard, metered street parking Service 1/5: no smiles from the servers at all, lower your expectation about any good service here so less likely you would be disappointed, the waiter who let us to the table and the waitress who mainly served the table both seemed so unhappy, when I asked if I could sit at particular empty table, was told a cold no by the waiter, when I asked what's their signature items, heard robotic answers without any useful information by the waitress, and I can't believe they even charge hot water, let alone there's dust in the cup and the lemon served later were two pieces of rotten slices, not used at all Food 3/5: numerous items on the food and drink menu Spicy Chimichanga - **** Spicy crispy burrito. Angus beef, garlic citrus potatoes, cheddar, bell peppers, eggs, chipotle, crispy and rich in flavors, recommend Bru's Toast - *** Strawberries, bananas, blueberries, mango, peanut butter, fresh whipped cream, cinnamon sourdough bread, weird taste with the peanut butter Price 4/5: large portions, decent quality and reasonable prices, about $25 per person

Yelp
The food was amazing, I came 2x ina. Week. And the cappuccinos are delicious. service was great because the server was so nice and quick. I come during the week, because I know the weekend will be packed!

Yelp
The best place for breakfast/lunch EVER!!! You have to try the churro waffle ....with churro ice cream!!! Omgggggg. So light, fluffy and yummy!! Salt & Pepper fried chicken with the garlic crunchy potatoes. Chilaquiles were so divinely prepared. Absolutely delightful. The banana pecan waffle as so light and tasty!! You have to try their juices that are freshly squeezed everyday. I also tried the Spanish latte!!!! All I can say is YUMMMMMM This place is a must!!!

Catherine P.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon, which was good, but my matcha latte was prepared incorrectly and, even when fixed, was pretty gross. Do not recommend the matcha here. Others in my group got chicken and waffles and enchiladas. Everyone agreed that everything needed seasoning and was missing basic salt/pepper. My friend's enchilada was dry and pretty desperately needed sauce. Other friend's chicken was dry. Server also forgot to give us water for the table after request. My friend ordered eggs and they got to him prepared a different way than he asked and were overcooked. Food took an ok amount of time to arrive at the table; we were waiting about 25 minutes, though for breakfast this seems a little long (the restaurant was not super full). ** if you have celiac, their GF waffles and chicken are not celiac safe. They use the same equipment/fryers for everything, so anything labeled GF is cross-contaminated TLDR extremely mid, underseasoned, didn't deliver items/got orders wrong. I wouldn't recommend this place considering the prices

Yelp
Chicken and CD waffle . Best coleslaw on that too. Can't wait to go back. Service is kind. Beautiful Bourdain mural down the street too.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS great! The staff is ALWAYS so professional with excellent service! The ambiance is ideal! It's always crowded but the waits are never too long! Just a lovely restaurant so we're regular patrons!

Yelp
While the price point of these dishes were high (~$20 per dish), the quantity and quality made it worth it! The Festive Chicken was an amazing blend of salty and sweet-tart with the tomatoes and the mango. The chicken was a bit tough but it still tasted good with the fluffy waffle. The French toast was amazing!! The toast was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and came with such a big helping and variety of fruits. The peanut butter was a very nice touch. The ambiance here is nice and it has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating! There is also parking in the back.
