The 16 Best Things to Do in Seattle

"Over the course of 2023, five large wooden trolls landed in the greater Seattle area (plus a sixth in Portland), all designed by Danish artist Thomas Dambo from recycled materials, and each with its own backstory. Part outdoor art and part play structure, they are designed for exploration and to encourage curiosity. While three of the trolls live in suburbs that require a ferry, car, or both to access (Issaquah, Bainbridge Island, and Vashon Island), Frankie Feetsplinters outside of Ballard's National Nordic Museum and Bruun Idun, who sings to orcas near Colman Pool in West Seattle, are the easiest to find and visit." - Naomi Tomky, Jenna Scatena

Northwest Trolls: Way of the Bird King

"Let’s start big picture. What’s the vibe here?Over the course of 2023, five large wooden trolls landed in the greater Seattle area (plus a sixth in Portland), all designed by Danish artist Thomas Dambo from recycled materials, and each with its own backstory. Part outdoor art and part play structure, they are designed for exploration and to encourage curiosity. Fun! Any standout features or must-sees?All the trolls are fascinating, though the Ballard one, Frankie Feetsplinters, lives in front of the National Nordic Museum, making it easily accessible for visitors to the city. Got it. Was it easy to get around? Many of the the trolls live in suburbs that require a ferry, a car, or both to access. Frankie Feetsplinters in Ballard and Bruun Idun, who sings to orcas near Colman Pool in West Seattle, are easiest to find and visit. That sounds cool. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? While visiting a troll can be quite quick, they are designed to encourage curiosity and thoughtfulness, so even if time at the troll is limited, visitors will get more out of the visit if they learn a bit about the project ahead of time." - Naomi Tomky

Bruun Idun in West Seattle is an absolute gem! The design of the place is stunning, but the real highlight is the amazing troll sculpture right nearby. It adds such a unique and whimsical touch to the area. Plus, being so close to the ocean provides a breathtaking backdrop. The combination of the artistic atmosphere and the natural beauty makes this spot truly special. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

This is what makes neighborhoods, parks awesome. Beautiful park, beach and hiking trails. And this amazing creation is here to great you along the way. What amazing detail. I want to find the others, I heard there are 24 of them around the PNW 🤔

I'm sure this park is getting more popular due to the Dambo trolls. This was my first visit, and it's a cool park with a lot of amenities. It has picnic tables, BBQs, exercise equipment around the park, beach, pool, benches, and nice views. It's close to the ferry if you want to jump on and head to Bainbridge to see another troll. This troll is down by the beach and you need to take the beach trail to find it. Or just use your map and follow a trail. That's what I did and it made it easy to find.

Not only did we see a really cool statue but it is located inside of a nice park with many trails in Seattle. The troll is located next along the water trail and next to the outdoor pool. There is ADA parking down the hill where the trail starts. There were a lot of people walking on the trail but it didn't feel crowded.

Worth the drive. It is inside the park with convenience parking. The Google Map has an error and will point you to a private drive in the end. And you will see signs when you park in the park. It is not crowded at all.

This was a fun walk to see a Thomas Dambo troll, "Bruun Idun." This adventure was at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. This is a beautiful park in general.

Great walk through Lincoln Park to see Bruun Idun. It’s a lovely walk and nice park. It was a bit tough for us to find but we enjoyed the journey nonetheless. The walk back was easier because we wandered around so much on the way in we had our bearings a bit better back to the parking lot.
