A Low-Alcohol Beer Maker Takes Over for South Park’s Burdick Brewery | Eater Seattle

"I learned that Burdick shuttered its South Park taproom in February and sold the space to a new low-alcohol operator after less than a year of operating there. Owner Max Leinbach said “a lot of things changed in life” — he got married and moved an hour out of the city — and selling the taproom was the best personal move for him. Burdick will pivot to releasing only specialty bottled beers a few times a year in select bottle shops around town; Leinbach doesn’t have distribution details yet and encouraged fans to watch Burdick’s Facebook page for updates. The South Park taproom had opened last July after Leinbach moved out of his original brewery–taproom combo, and both Burdick and neighboring Lowercase had been forced to close their public spaces after code inspectors flagged them, though Burdick will continue brewing on site after relocating within the same complex." - Megan Hill

This brewery will take you to new vibes that you didn’t know you needed, while drinking beer. It’s giving speakeasy brewery, mixed with garden party with the patio. The beers are good and I enjoyed the entire flight I had—this is a Belgium brewery. The beers tender was very helpful and shared info on the beers we were trying. A unique place on Colfax that is a must visit. Parking is always an issue on Colfax, especially with BRT construction, but find a spot and take a visit.

Google
How do I honestly rate a brewery that brews a beer style I don’t love? By trying multiple items and realizing they brew great beer and have a beautiful space. I’m an IPA guy who moved into the area and want to support local, and this place is great.! You won’t be disappointed show them some love!

Stephen N.

Google
I LOVE Belgian beers. But this place was a big disappointment. The bar tender was helpful and knowledgeable about their beers and she is the main reason that this isn't a 1 start review. She even mentioned that she didn’t understand why they have a "Kriek" that isn't sour. Most of the beers were fairly flat and while I expect Belgians to be dry, they should not be thin like this. I had a flight and my friends had a few other selections as well. None of the 4 of us flew like getting another round.

Google
Bruz Off Fax has become a go-to for me in Denver. Their beer selection is consistently impressive, with a wide variety of brews that always deliver on taste. As a big fan of Belgian-style beers, I'm never disappointed by their offerings. Beyond the fantastic beer, Bruz boasts plenty of both indoor and outdoor space, making it a comfortable spot year-round. The ambiance is also a major plus, creating a great environment to enjoy a pint or two. Highly recommend checking them out!

Google
Delicious beer selection! Try the flights to get a variety of flavors - my favorites were the green ghost and the dawg days! The server there was extremely helpful and after a brief conversation has our flavors dialed in. Two flights later, two happy customers will be back!

Google
This brewery is a true Denver gem! I've driven by it quite a lot on the way work and finally had a chance to stop in. The outside belies the spacious interior. The atmosphere is incredible with a high bar when you first walk in and steps down to the normal sized bar. There are inset tables as well as plenty of room inside and outside tables on their patio. I wasn't able to stay too long when I stopped by, but the fruity saisons were superb! Tim was manning the taps and was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and the brewery. I can't wait to go back!

Google
Recently discovered this spot and gosh did they have a great patio and outdoor section for listening to music that looks like it’s in a container! Love their beer flights & as a non beer drinker I was impressed by tie IPA’s!! Delicious! Also cute bar area, inside bench areas & lovely pricing!

Google
A great brewery just off Colfax Ave. If you look on their website they have events on nearly every day of the week. Events such as trivia night, $1 off every pour and live music on Saturday nights. There's plenty more and it's easily accessible on their website. Sitting in the outdoor patio is a great place to spend your evening drinking some great Belgium beer. My personal favourite is the right hand man pilsner. Staff are always friendly and there's always friendly dogs in the patio area.

Yelp
Personally, this is jy favorite little brewery in Denver. It has a local feel and it's just inviting with the courtyard. Come see for your self why this place is amazing! ** Food trucks are always here

Yelp
I have had beers from Bruz before and really liked a pilsner, Czech Dark Lager and a Mulberry beer in the past. My mre recent beers I tried something different from those three and still liked my beer experience with the brewery. One beer I had was the Solange Blonde Ale. I do like Blondes and so this was a good beer option to explore. Flavors to find with this beer are dry, malty and bitter. The beer is also very effervescent and bubbly. The Tart N Hoppy Saison was another beer that Steve and I had for our second visit with this brewery. It lives up to it's name nicely being tart, hoppy, dry and bitter. This saison is also very smooth. Another good experience with Bruz which I am pleased to report!

Yelp
An amazing Belgian beer spot that is beautiful, which boasts an outdoor patio and a shed/garage spot off the patio that would be good for gatherings. Check the website for daily deals. If you like Belgian style beers, this is your spot!

Yelp
Came here after trying to watch the game at DNVR bar which was a bust. It was so busy there. But then we came across the street and Bruz had so many empty seats. Of course the vibes were way more relaxed here. Outside is super cute if you wanna come with a friend. There were two TVs with the game on, no sound on tho. Our bartender was super sweet, and so was her helper, a cute well behaved doggo. There's snacks available for purchase: chips, frozen pizzas.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite breweries! The beer here is full of german style beers, sours, and specialty beers. The patio is beautiful as well, but make sure you put sunscreen on because only two tables have an umbrella. Cheers to great brews!

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries in Denver because Tim is AMAZING! I'll occasionally meet up with one of my good friends at the bar counter, and we'll catch up and gossip over beer. Tim is great at opening my mind to beers outside my usual IPAs, and I trust his recommendations. Cute space, lots of seating. Patio available for private events. Pet friendly. Friendly neighborhood vibes overall. Can't wait to come back more regularly!

Bridget H.

Yelp
The beer was good, customer service is horrible. When asking the woman who was working about prices she was rude and told us the prices are clearly on the menu. Wouldn't go back.

Yelp
The twinkling lights at the patio makes you forget there is crazy traffic at Colifax. I like how the space retains the historical features while giving the place a fresh update. This bar features their Belgian Ales exclusively. I am no beer expert, but their self-proclaimed motto is "Badass Belgian Beers." In my words more alcohol and amped up flavor. I had the tripel which was supposed to have fruit notes, which I couldn't find. However, it had the distinct bitter slightly sour notes I find with some Belgians and definitely a hint of warming spice. A friendly bartender who believes in the products. Order your beer and take it your spot. I look forward to another Fri. night on the patio with weekly live music. Street parking or there is a metered lot down the block.

Yelp
This may be one of my new favorite breweries in the area! Bruz Off Fax is a trendy brewery right off of Colfax. They have an awesome list of beers - such a great variety! Every time I've come here (just a couple of times so far!), I have been so pleased by the friendly service and the delicious beer. This past Saturday, my husband and I stopped in and we were pleasantly surprised to hear about their Side Car Saturday deal - order a beer & get a $1 4 oz beer with it. Such a cool deal! I get the Brut La Grande (love a good champagne beer!) and a side car of the Cooper Imperial Stout, while my husband got an IPA and the Quadrupel on the side. Yum! Every single beer we had was seriously so unique and flavorful. I highly recommend the Brut & any of their stouts - so good! We'll be back!

Yelp
Nice taproom with several different seating areas and nice patio in the back. Fantastic beer, lots of choices and styles, and loved their "sidecar" taster for just a buck!!

Sarah S.

Yelp
This place is gold! The beer, the atmosphere, the service, the merchandise....I could go on and on. This place is not to miss! If the only bad reviews are because they don't allow screaming children to run around like mad and disrupt adults at a bar, I give them 6 stars!
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
I'm nearing the end of my Denver craft beer journey so I came here to knock it off my list. The style of beer here isn't my usual choice but I gave it a shot. Kinda hard to find street parking but I got lucky. The taproom is beautiful, looks very classy. I ordered the Dame Blanche and it was delicious. So good that I will definitely come back here and try more beers on a return trip to Denver. Good work being done at this brewery.

Yelp
I wish I could give BOF 100 Stars. We visited from Vegas because their beer is amazing. Absolutely my favorite brewery in America, full stop. Unfortunately we love their beer so much we got a little rowdy and broke a glass, and somehow instantly a staff member popped out and bandaged up my friend. Wonderful. Aside from the beer being absolute best of best the place is charming, the staff are spectacular and patient, and even the Merch is awesome. I would like more food but it's already so good I can't really complain. If you were working here during the afternoon of July 1 Thank you!

Yelp
Like the original, Midtown location, Bruz has fantastic Belgian beers served by cheerful, friendly people. We have had great times here, chatting with the servers and other folks in the bar. The Diablo Fuego is probably my favorite beer here, a belgian ale with chili peppers. But, they really don't have any bad beers. And, if you don't know your Belgian styles, ask. The server will ask you about your likes and dislikes and pour you a couple splashes to make sure you get something you will enjoy. They have frozen pizzas and a few snack items available for food. Bruz does not have a parking lot and street parking can be a bit challenging in this neighborhood. There is a paid lot available behind the brewery.

Yelp
NOT for families, despite how they come across. This brewery/brasserie is in our neighborhood and we love(d) the beer. It shares a courtyard with an ice cream shop and a cookie store, so on paper, it's perfect for families. There is a shared patio area for kids/families enjoying their respective treats, and "in theory" they will let families come inside if the weather is too hot or old. That said - it's not child friendly. We've gone multiple times with our kids and have gotten somewhere between cold to rude service with them there. We've just gone to have a beer with people in from our of town (after raving about this local belgian brewery), and within 5 minutes of our young child crying (heaven forbid, a young child cries!), we were asked to "take her out front." Not out to the patio, not a request to see if she could quite down (which would still be ridiculous for a young child) - we were asked to "take her out front," as if she was a disruptive customer too drunk to be permitted on the grounds. This is the definition of ageist. You're a business, so you can do what you want, but if you share a courtyard with shops that cater to children, and if you in theory welcome families inside your business - welcome families, including their children, including their noises. If you're not willing to do that, and if you actually don't want children in your facility (which seems apparent): get your rules for entry more transparent to families. If children aren't welcome, say so. For anyone thinking about going there with small children, don't. We won't be back - shame because, we've been here probably once weekly over the last three years and had multiple events here. But if we're all not welcome because of something as "agregious" as a crying child, we all won't be back. Also just food for thought - look at the responses to negative reviews. This is the true vibe you'll get if anything is amiss - overall cold and rude staff, which again is such a shame for what would otherwise be a nice neighborhood brewery.

Yelp
After spending the morning at the Denver Art Museum's latest exhibit - Paris to Hollywood (showcasing the gorgeous fashion closet from Veronique and Gregory Peck), my sister, mom and I decided to make our way to Bruz. With my sister being a Bruz virgin (I've visited the Westminster location), we stopped into Bruz on Fax for a well-deserved birthday brew! SPACE: Tucked in the middle of Colfax and York Street, the brewery is a little hard to spot when simply driving down the street. In fact, we missed it and made a series of one way U-turns a second time before spotting the hidden gem! A parking lot sits near the brewery, and is just $3 for 5 hours, which we happily paid. Upon entering, the space is light, bright and exudes a rustic yet modern feel - think exposed brick, Edison bulbs and rot iron! A variety of tables line the space, accommodating any size party, with the ability to properly social distance! The bar can be accessed in two different spot (right near the entrance) or at the actual bar top. Painted a deep blue with while tile accents, the space is cozy and inviting creating an intimate feel - perfect for our girl's day! SERVICE: We arrived right when they opened (2PM) and was quickly greeted by a friendly beertender who was eager to assist. She provided great recommendations, allowed for ample time to view the menu and poured up our brews within record time. Throughout our entire visit, she was friendly, engaging and made us feel right at home. SIPS: Now this is where Bruz really shines! Specializing in Belgian Style beers, each brew is literally hand crafted to perfection to bring out the best flavors of Belgium! Having visited Belgium when my sister studied abroad, we were excited to sample as much as we could. So we settled on two flights of 4 pours, before ordering pints each. The menu is broken down into 4 parts (Sessionable Belgians, Sour Belgians, Big Belgians and Seasonal) which made it perfect to sample one from each box in our taster! First up, we decided on the If I only Had a Brain (Saison), Tripel, Biere de Mars and the Gatherer Biere de Garde (farmhouse style ale) followed by the Dawg Days IPA, Barrel Aged Valor (aged in Cabernet barrels no less!), Diablo (golden ale) and the Chai Spiced Cru. Each brew was super unique and full of flavor, perfectly bubbly and totally hit the spot! My sister favored the Diablo, while I sipped on the tasters but sampled two small pints of the Brut La Grande - which is Bruz's take on a champagne beer - served in a champagne glass with a side of dark chocolate! Talk about FANCY! SUSTENANCE: While this location doesn't have a kitchen of its' own, they do offer a variety of snacks. Locally made chips, nuts, ect! SHOP: The Bruz shop offers a variety of awesome goodies available for purchase, including growlers, crowlers, cans and bottles of their delicious beer, along with glassware tee-shirts, hats, and other wearable items! SPECIALS: Happy hour is offered from open to close daily and the brewery offers a Badass Belgian Beer Club membership for anyone interested. The membership ($95) allows for 1 free draft beer every month for a year, along with 2 free bottles/crowler/4-pack cans of your choice throughout the year and a variety of other offers! When wanting to transport myself back to a taste of Belgium, Bruz off Fax will be my #1 choice! CHEERS!

Yelp
Good beer, the place was 100% empty on a Bronco Sunday. A few folks came in after awhile, the beer tender was nice and had an awesome dog. If you want quiet try this place. Good European style beer. If you want action and some excitement maybe hit this one next time.

Julissa V.

Yelp
Amazing service and ambiance! The beers were very unique and tasted fantastic! Will definitely be coming back to this bar!

Yelp
Man, I love this brewery. As a huge proponent of Belgian beers, Bruz is a bit like Disneyland to me. The staff are very friendly, the space is fun, and the beers are out of this world. I've been to this location a number of times and they do a great job with their events. Between having DJ's, cheese tastings, and wonderful pride events, the space/venue alone is enough to warrant a trip. And then we get to the beer. I picked up a variety four pack on a whim at Total Wine without knowing the brewery was even local. After loving the first can, a Belgian single, I googled the brewery and found that this location (Colfax) is actually quite close to where I live. Since then, I've been able to try the majority of their menu and must recommend the Brut La Grande and will keep my fingers crossed that they bring back the Hellraiser at some point soon. In the spirit of big Belgian beers, I recommend staying away from the sessionable menu in order to get the full experience (though the sessionable beers are also quite good).

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Landed at Bruz after searching for a local brewery near the Denver Botanic Garden. It's an easy 15ish minute walk away. Comfortable tasting room with outdoor and indoor seating. Friendly staff. My flight was all Sours and saisons; especially enjoyed the sours - lemon and peach - different from what I'd tried elsewhere. My partner enjoyed IPAs and hoppier options. Would definitely go back next time in Denver.

Yelp
This hidden gem has good beer, a modern atmosphere, and nice outdoor seating area. It was surprisingly large for the location. Great especially if you love Belgian style beer. Depending on what time of day you go, parking might be difficult to find but it is worth a stop in!
google avatar

Shin M.

Yelp
This rating is for the ambiance only- no drink review. I came here for a trivia night. There is street parking nearby or a paid parking lot next door. The place has a normal bar area, an outdoor patio area, and also a heated garage type area. They allow dogs inside and outside which is amazing! There is a food truck parked out front. I didn't have any of the food or drinks but I enjoyed the ambiance and the fact that they allowed dogs inside!

Kathryn S.

Yelp
Very fun environment! The bar tenders are awesome and beers are delicious. A must stop!!
google avatar

Hallie M.

Yelp
Really love the aesthetic in here - beautiful exposed brick, tile flooring, the hanging lights even look like a spider web. Super friendly staff, happy to help. You can also bring over food from neighboring restaurants, DC Pie pizza or ice cream from Smith & Canon. One thing that did throw me off is that it's all Belgium style beers. Really neat as I've never been to a brewery/taproom dedicated to Belgium style & Belgium inspired beer, but I am generally not a fan of Belgium style beers (sorry, I'm boring). Definitely a great local/neighborhood spot. I'm excited to experience the patio once it get a little nicer :)

Jake H.

Yelp
Beer is basic. Customer service is crap. Cool enough environment but overall, pick a different brewer.
google avatar

Dana A.

Yelp
Nice new taphouse off Colfax at York (next to Chinese massage place). Cool interior design with backyard. Beer is good also based on the Amber I had, will need to come back and try more.
google avatar

Risa B.

Yelp
Small spot that's very easy to miss but definitely worth a visit. The back patio and back garage seating area are both awesome. You're welcome to bring your own food in/ order delivery, which we did. They also offer a range of gluten reduced beer options, which aren't specifically advertised but they're happy to tell you about if asked! We'll be back!
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Great neighbor beer bar! Solid selection and comfortable place to hang out and enjoy some beverages. You can also bring in food from nearby restaurants without any trouble and the patio is spacious and should be nice in the summer.

Eric S.

Yelp
The BEST Belgian beers I've ever had! Plus the staff is so friendly and engaging. Cannot get enough Bruz in my life!
google avatar

Savanna D.

Yelp
I love this place! With such a wide array of beers and tucked away patio, consider this your next happy hour stop. I had the Chai Spiced Grand Cru which was unlike any other beer that I've ever had! This is THE SPOT for Belgian beers, outside of Belgium of course.
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
Great beer, stopped by right after it opened and loved it. The service was great, nice recommendations on beer to drink to fit my liking. Great conversation as well. I enjoyed the space, can't wait to see it all open with the outside open and not covered in snow. Will be back!

Rachael H.

Yelp
If you have a kid don't come here. Service is terrible and people are rude. My son walked in to use the restroom & the lady yep lol we at him. Extremely rude. Beers are sub par as well.
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a flight and had an amazing experience. Lisa the bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable on all of the different options! Would highly recommend for anyone passing through Denver or locals.

Mike L.

Yelp
Great vibe and super staff. Had some great beer and conversation. This place rocks, I can't wait for the warm weather to kick in their patio looks cool too!
google avatar

Dayna S.

Yelp
Loved finding a Belgian brewery near my home! Amazingly friendly staff and extremely welcoming environment. This will be my go-to spot for delicious Belgian beers!

Claudia R.

Yelp
The patio and indoors is beautiful. The service is great. The only things is that they don't have food trucks daily and the phone number you call is actually not for their york location as there are two. Good beer!
google avatar

Nile P.

Yelp
Best brewery for miles! Great Belgian brews! Jake and Kristen are awesome help you out with a pint and explain the different brews. Only beer, chips, and popcorn for now. Hopefully they will get some wine possibly cocktails and some more substantial food options. There are easy to order from food options near by though.
google avatar

CO G.

Yelp
My favorite brewery in the hood. I'm a big fan of Belgium beer and they have several varied choices on tap. The space is great, with a patio for summer. Most of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. I'm quickly becoming a regular!
google avatar

Kristina D.

Yelp
Great beer, great vibe! Nice little patio area!! The champagne beer is accompanied by a DIVINE piece of chocolate, felt very posh! The service was sweet and it wasn't over crowded like some breweries around there!

Melissa D.

Yelp
Good atmosphere and nice Belgium's, which was a delight. The staff are very nice and the seating is great. This is the one place that had the best beer, says my husband. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Hannah V.

Yelp
Love this location. The beers are stellar, and the service is always amazing. Ask for Kristen when you come in, and make sure to try their Tart Cherry Witbier!

Heather S.

Yelp
Such a cute little place that I didn't know about. Better yet they are dog friendly. They have an adorable little patio that is perfect for an after work beer. Someone was also selling delicious looking pies that I will definitely need to come back for
