Lively neighborhood hang for live music and a serious raw bar. Named a top raw bar by Connecticut Magazine in 2025, it’s where locals crack oysters, chase lobster rolls, and soak in Black Rock’s easygoing energy.

Great friendly staff 😁. Coconut shrimp with risotto was awesome...tons of flavor. The sweet sesame chicken was good, but a bit salty. I substituted sour cream for blue cheese dressing (not a fan) with no problems. The clam chowder was excellent, served with oyster crackers. Fresh oysters were 👍 great. Got a second helping. Service was super friendly and helpful. Dinner was promptly served...minimal wait. I rated a three for atmosphere because they are on the main drag. Great island music playing. Dog friendly...there is seating outside...just let them know you're here. Ample free one hour parking along the street. Check it out!

I usually order takeout from here or get it delivered. It is the best restaurant in Fairfield. The food is excellent and the prices are far more than reasonable. The fillet for $25 is ridiculous. It’s so good the linguine with clam sauce for $19 is amazing. You can get a lobster roll for $19 which is almost like a public service so so good the place itself is a little Bit of a dive if you eat there, But the food is excellent. It is the best deal in town. It is the best food in town. I highly recommend you eat there.

Google
We went with 2 other families for lunch. Very large menu for food and drinks. Staff was friendly. Nautical theme.

Google
I would descibe the bar as a local casuall "dive bar". My 1st time going and the bar area was full of people that looked like regulars at lunch time. The restaurant decor is dark and and they have live music in the evenings sometimes. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The menu had a great variety and we all chose different things to try. Lobster quesadillas, a burger, lobster roll, and blackened shrimp caprese salad. The prices are very affordable for seafood items compared to other restaurants in this area. I definitely would go back for the lobster rolls before the season ends.

Google
Very disappointing experience. Service was so slow and the staff seemed untrained/clueless. Everyone around us was complaining too. Add to that the portions are small, bland and stingy. Fish was even undercooked. You’d think they add a bit more fries to fill the plate at least. The lobster roll was the only thing we enjoyed. Wouldn’t come back though. Sad because the location is nice and there is live music. Come for drink at most. Don’t waste your time on the food.

Google
Traveling through from Massachusetts to New Jersey and this place is two mins off the highway. Food was delicious 🤤. Fried Calamari to start and then Lobster roll, and Filet Mignon for the main course. So so so good. We actually were talking about how an hour and half drive is that far for great food.

Google
Food was great. Clam shower was excellent and we really loved the coconut mussels. Lobster roll was a little small but it's substantially cheaper than most so I get it and it was super buttery and came with fries Clams are a must!

Google
Our son recommended this restaurant when we were in town last week. He made a reservation for a Friday night, so I expected it to be busy. We were seated quickly and the service was great. The food was over the top! Their clam chowder has to be one of the best I've ever had, and I've tried a lot! (LOL) Our orders of lobster roll, lobster quesadilla, shrimp, and crab cakes were delicious! But the flaming fried ice cream was the ultimate end to our meal! I look forward to returning when we're in the area again. Just a note about parking: street parking is always a challenge, but we found a spot nearby. Prices were good for the excellent quality of the food. Highly recommend!👍👍👍

Yelp
Cute place, has the Bar side and table side and even outdoor seating when it's nice. Staff were extra friendly and welcoming. Lots of great choices on the menu. Food came out fast and was amazing. We tried a little of everything and it all was soo good. Prices were better than most places plus the food was great for the price. Happy to try something new definitely will be back to try more stuff.

Yelp
We were in town looking for a quick bite and came across this place . The food was good and it came out pretty quick , however service needs some serious training. The lady at the bar wasn't very friendly :( it was like she was rushing us to order ( we never been there ) so needed some time to look over the menu and figure out drinks as well . Would go back for the food , definitely NOT for the service . It's a shame since it's a cute little place .

Yelp
Lots of good reviews, tried it but NOT impressed... Reasonably priced but food was average. Appetizers, soup, sweet and were like something you buy at COSTCO then heated up. Mussels/clams' sauce was very sweet. Our server was not very friendly, did not get her name. We may go back to try their other stuff only if we're in the area... not itching to go back there.

Yelp
Woohoo! What a fabulous place to stumble into. Terrific staff and award winning not to be missed clam chowdah. Soooo good on a cold day. Happy hour perfect, blackboard specials look fine. And while this is a raw bar divvy homey place, the chicken marsala was wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very good honestly, went during happy hour and got a dozen oysters, good stuff. I also got the chicken caprese sandwich which was fireee. I can't wait to come back again. It wasn't super crowded, we ate on the patio which was nice. We were the only ones on the patio and randomly our server came up to us 40 times towards the end of the meal, definitely gave us the vibes he wanted us to leave but they weren't at all near closing time. That was the only funny thing but good food and not crazy overpriced.

Yelp
Went today around 3:00 waiting for 2 friends. Sat at table in DR . The bar was quiet. Since no one waited on me I walked to the bar and ordered a cold Bud Light. My two friends came and she didn't come to our table to take any orders for at least 15 minutes. We did eventually order a couple things which never came so I walked up to the bar and she said she had forgotten. What time of service is that? The orders got screwed up with an order of oysters on the half shell, etc. I had already gotten some after walking over to the bar and then she brought another one which I hadn't ordered. More help came in at maybe 4 o'clock or 430 and things improved. Very unsatisfactory service. The oysters were yummy and my lobster roll had morsels of lobster and was very minimal. Ordered Chardonnay off the wine with no prices and got charged $12 per glass. Ridiculous! Will not return

Yelp
Five star Dive Bar with best Happy Hour around. Friendly folks and staff but it's all about the raw bar and chowder and lobster!!

Yelp
I stopped at bryac during my errand running for a quick bite. I saw an amazingly priced lobster roll and had to try it immediately. Overall, their food was good, portions were not too large and I felt satisfied. Service was good, although it seemed there was only one person working and it seemed that she was working double time as a result. The ambiance was your typical pub so if you are looking for something fancy, don't expect to go in a suit and tie haha!

Yelp
My fault for not fully reading a menu but I got the coconut shrimp and while it wasn't horrible it wasn't actually coconut shrimp. The shrimp itself wasn't seasoned, it was in a sauce but the rice was coconut. Kind of false advertising if you ask me but again, I didn't read the menu since when you see the words "coconut shrimp" you would assume it's a fried coconut crusted shrimp which it wasn't
google avatar

Yelp
Very mixed feelings about this place. It had really great reviews, and some of the reviews are justified. One thing I wish I read more is about the lack of a waitlist. It's not first come first serve. It's whoever gets a table gets served. I've never experienced a restaurant where customers had to wait behind tables or seats after other customers. It's like I'm competing for a particular seat with every other particular customer and it all depends on how quickly the people before me eat. If another table opens up, it may not be mine because I wasn't waiting for that table. I feel like it would be relatively easy to set up even an self check-in system to create a waitlist and ease the mind of a lot of customers. Either way, food was good, but this place is understaffed. I was waiting for a table for 45 minutes, and I talked with people waiting on their checks for 30 min or their food for even longer (if it's not raw). Affordable oysters, huge clams and good toasted food too, but again, it sounds like there are only 1 or 2 people in the kitchen because the raw and cooked food came close to 45 min apart. There's either 1 or 0 bartender at the bar, so getting drinks is also very challenging. I feel for a restaurant that's understaffed, but this dining experience could have been much better.

Yelp
Have been here a few times. Have had good food and good service. Went on a Saturday night and it was disappointing. Crowd was ok and only two people working. Very slow service . Crab cake blt was very dry and we sent it back. NY strip was good meal Wings are very good

Yelp
Excellent clam chowder. Very cool dive bar. Great music, friendly we staff and a lot of different selections of beers. I love this place. They have a really cute outdoor dining section. It's gonna be my go to place. I know they have lots of live music there as well.

Yelp
Visting area for funeral and restaurant was recommended. It was not a disappointment. This little hole in the wall was absolutely excellent and the drinks outstanding. Prices were very reasonable and the staff attentive. Just which this place was closer to me in NJ. it would be one 1 f my favorites.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got there today. The menu was filled with choices I wanted so I guess that means I will have to go back! I absolutely loved their award winning New England clam chowder. It was creamy and chock full of fresh clams. Another crowd favorite was the unique choice- fried avocado. I didn't expect it to be as fantastic as it was. I was intrigued by the Lobster Pasta dish- although I wish I would have ordered something lighter since I was already full with the apps, it was amazing. Thankfully I took half home. It had tons of lobster in a sherry cream sauce with rotini. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Strange choice in my opinion (for a seafood spot) but he liked it. Next time I will be ordering the lobster roll. I saw it come out to another table and it looked insanely good. Check out @datenightcraves on Instagram for more foodie tips !

Yelp
Love the vibe, great food! And Daisy was the best bartender! Service is kickin at the bar!

Yelp
Read the reviews here on YELP while looking for a restaurant in the area. I liked what the reviews told me and the menu looked perfect. When we arrived we opted to sit inside. I ordered the Lobster Bisque first and when it came out it tasted as good as it looked with nice chunks of lobster. For lunch my Mom ordered the Shrimp Scampi and she said it was very good. I ordered the Lobster Rockefeller. )oOusters Rockefeller with chunks of Lobster On top. I enjoyed every bite. . My mom looked at me and said that she wants to come back. I knew we hit the jackpot.

Yelp
Been looking for a good happy hour since most have disappeared because of COVID. $1 oysters and $0.75 clams from 3-6pm. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance. There were about 25 people in the restaurant, retired ladies in the front window enjoying martinis, two men that just finished work at their landscaping company enjoying their meal, young professionals enjoying happy hour at the bar, and other folks eating in the dining room. We loved that there were so many different people. We watched as their orders came out. The burger and steak looked good, but next time I will get the beef tips! This time we got the lobster roll which was out of this world! There were two gals working and running the entire place. They were attentive and kind to us. We will def be back!
google avatar

Lisa Y.

Yelp
I came here for their $1 happy hour oysters because I was craving them!! I was not disappointed with them either. Tasted delicious and fresh. Although the margarita that I ordered was weird. It had no tequila flavor and tasted as if it was just some simple syrup with no alcohol maybe they used a little rum or vodka but couldn't tell. I definitely would have tasted tequila if there were any in it. I would come back for oysters and maybe something on draft or can but not sure if I would order another mixed drink. I also ordered the kiwi margarita first from the menu and they said they didn't have that so I did jalepeno. ‍

Yelp
Located in Black Rock, the food was great we enjoyed Lobster Monica, Chicken piccata and flaming ice cream. The service was friendly but quite slow (maybe short staffed). A casual vibe. Parking is tricky in black rock, but we found a spot on the street. We will be back.

Yelp
We been here once before fire a team event...but this was lovely.... good music.... crazy vibes.... and food ...... apps perfect...... entrees..... meals got excellent reviews son saud ya outta Batavia. ..... partner loved the garlic mash pot .....

James P.

Yelp
Food so-so. Service not great as had to wait forever! We had a very sweet person named "Daisy", who was a HUGE help. They need to hire a more informed staff. Hope they get it together as has lot's of potential, IF they do. Three stars ALL for Daisy.

John T.

Yelp
Service is always slow never Enough servers. But food is great and if You like classic rock great atmosphere Lobster bisque. Mussels awesome
google avatar

Diana Q.

Yelp
This place is one of the few happy hour oyster spots with dollar oysters left in the area. The oysters were great, and the service was good. The only issue I had was with the margarita I ordered. Both me and my friend ordered margaritas and both did not taste good. They were too sweet, and you couldn't taste the tequila at all. That was the only issue I found so I'm sure that if you order draft/canned drinks and food you will have a 5 star experience!

FatHeadedpanda P.

Yelp
i created an account for this review ! i would never talk smack about a restaurant that i enjoy , but waiting 2 hours for any sorra service when it is not busy ? ! rude service no explanation wrong / cold food 2 hour wait time for the life of me , mike ( the owner of bryax ) fix this shit ! i demand compensation !

Yelp
I wanna start by saying I LOVE their food. The lobster roll is so good my friends recently got the lobster quesadilla it was excellent. No qualms with the food. But the service on the other hand gets worse and worse everytime. Im young and have a lot of patience this last time went with a group of friends we were drinking didnt mind waiting. After waiting an hour and a half though we finally got out food and it was all wrong. The waiter messed up all our orders and than they suggested we shared food while we were waiting. He was really inattentive and forgot multiple drinks as well. And there were only about three customers there. Everytime i come i get a young kid who looks miserable to be serving us id rather just get the food myself

Jane S.

Yelp
What a disappointment. I've always loved the food here. This time, I sit at the bar and get passed over for 2 couples that came in after me. Ok whatever. I order clams from the raw bar and one of them has a hair in it. When I tell the waitress she asks if it's mine? It would be a neat trick to wedge one of my hairs underneath the clam in the shell now wouldn't it? I tell her it's not and ask her to take the plate away and she rolls her eyes at me. Imagine that. It was quite the ordeal for me to get here too. And no one asked me if I wanted anything else. What crappy service . Not in a hurry to come back.

Yelp
All I can say about the Lobster Bisque and the Clam Chowder is AMAZING! Delicious, and worth a trip across the state, but thank goodness I'm local. However being from Boston I can attest that the chowder is one of the best I've ever had in all of New England. The bisque is just as fantastic. Plenty of lobster meat and the sauce was buttery and rich. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Tia Y.

Yelp
Neighborhood favorite! We love walking here and having a delicious meal. They have great happy hour and specials through out the week. Outdoor seating available and ask for Sue, she's wonderful!

Sam M.

Yelp
Really great raw bar, lobster roll, steamed clams (better than their mussels, I think- not my usual preference!)- with daily specials. It is almost shockingly well priced, given the increase in seafood prices everywhere else). And although the staff seems small, they are dedicated and HUSTLE! Only thing we haven't fully loved are the crab cakes. Wish I lived closer!

Mark S.

Yelp
Love this place for their food and the great raw oysters. When the weather is right, sitting outside is the way to go. Their Happy Hour raw oyster special is not to be missed for oyster fans. Their Lobster Monica is great, enough for two if you've had an appetizer or soup. Lots of other great choices on the menu. Simple nautical theme. Small in size. Busy but small bar. Located in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport very close to the Fairfield town line.
google avatar

Dawn C.

Yelp
We started our east coast trip by stopping here for a bite to eat and I was not disappointed. The mussels were flavorful and a perfect start. The lobster roll and clam chowder were the perfect size to share! Great start to our trip!
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
Mainly a seafood place. You can get good lobster here. I stuck with sirloin tips. Well cooked but I did end up using a1 instead of their sauce. Kind of higher end pub food. If you are looking for seafood tonight this would be a good choice tonight!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Really awesome lobster roll, cold beer and really good reat group of people to hang out with.
google avatar

Wayne C.

Yelp
Great neighborhood place. Even during COVID had the best take out options. The sambuca shrimp is the best too.

Layla D.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend :( I had hoped it would be good because multiple people recommended it to me but it was disappointing: * It was kind of a grimy bar - felt like a small college bar.. * Took over an hour for two lobster rolls - when we ordered there was one group already eating, one group waiting on an order and a couple who ordered right before us... so not super busy * There was no utensils, napkins or ketchup (for an order that came with fries) provided, however a nice guy who seemed to maybe work there offered us a ketchup bottle after we had to grab some from a table outside - he also brought us napkins and utensils. * The lobster rolls tasted pretty good for being $15 each, ketchup tasted off maybe it was old or not actually Heinz and was just put in a Heinz bottle. * The live music was way too loud to be able to have a conversation.
google avatar

Chaw R.

Yelp
Food quality was ok and not outstanding. Service was very slow on the Sunday we went. I don't think I would come back again.

S. D. J.

Yelp
Their clam chowder ( New England style, thick and creamy) is delicious! Waiting for the take-out order, have a drink at the bar...

Monique W.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place for a while!! So glad we did!! I had the clam chowder which was absolutely delicious! I also had the Lobster Monica!! Delish!! My husband had the lobster roll and loved it. We also shared drink. Not sure of the name but it came in a huge bowl and the middle was on fire! Absolutely great service!! Awesome date night!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
I'll keep this short. Food great, more than great. But if you want to have a conversation, forget about it. The music is way too loud. I haven't been there in awhile, so maybe they don't still have the loud music. I'd check first! How good the food is doesn't outweigh the zero conversion. You'll attempt to talk, and give up.
google avatar

Cha I.

Yelp
This place is kind of a hole in the wall.. think dive bar vibe... but the food is off the charts excellent. Really fresh oysters... and the Lobsterdilla is mouth watering delicious goodness.... I could eat these every day! The service is attentive and friendly. Absolutely worth a visit! (We have so far gone twice, and we live pretty far, so that is saying something. We will be back!)

Kim H.

Yelp
Great Yelp stop! Passing through on the highway and it did not disappoint! They have live music on Fridays and even though it was packed, there was ample street parking. Great atmosphere. We both had the lobster rolls & fries. Came with slaw. The bread roll was toasted like garlic bread but still soft. So good!! I hope we get to come back someday!
google avatar

Marianne W.

Yelp
The absolute best lobster roll ever! Been here twice and all the seafood looks amazing. Had the oysters too and boy were they good! If you live seafood you must come here!!!

k s.

Yelp
I travel a lot for work and use yelp regularly to help me find places like this. The New England clam chowder was probably the best I've ever had. I also had it with the lobster dinner which if you don't mind handling your food this is the way to get a lot of lobster for a great price.
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
Visiting the area and someone recommended BRYAC. Wish we would have gone sooner, we may not have eaten anywhere else! Fresh oysters, jumbo shrimp, delectable clam chowder, and lobster rolls! Everything was so good! Very reasonable prices and casual atmosphere. Definitely a five star experience!
google avatar

Ginger H.

Yelp
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. It's small and loud, but it's terrific for a quick lobster roll on a Wednesday and Thursday, especially for fifteen bucks with either a very nice salad or french fries.
google avatar

Glen C.

Yelp
Best Clam Chowder ever. Excellent Lobster Roll, wonderful Mussels,,, It's good here! Well done.

Bette G.

Yelp
I go to this establishment about once a week. On Wednesdays and Thursdays. They have their lobster roll specials which are fabulous and you cannot beat their $22 lobster dinner year round . I go there often just for that easy casual atmosphere with always decent service. It's a really, really good place and the chef has always accommodated my wishes. Sometimes I go there for codfish and it's just amazing.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for oysters on a Monday. It was a beautiful day. I came exactly at 3:00pm and sat at the bar where about four other people sat and two tables outside. The bartender was extremely overwhelmed. Flustered, scattered and I could tell she was getting frustrated with herself for messing up orders. I don't know if she was new but I told her to take her time and I wasn't going anywhere. The place filled up QUICKLY so I put in an order or 12 oysters and ordered a drink. She said it would be a while for them to come out because there was only one shucker in the back. No worries. It took about 15 min. The oysters were crisp yet melted in my mouth, ice cold and salty. Just the way I like them. Served with horseradish, mignonette, and cocktail sauce and lemon. I slurped those down quickly and easily could've ordered more if the service went a bit smoother. I watched about five people walk out because they weren't tended two even when the second bartender showed up. I've been a server, I get it, she was weeded big time and I felt bad but we didn't want to sit so we grabbed our check and left. I will DEFINITELY check this place out again as the oysters were top notch and I hope the bartender found her groove. It's not easy.

Yelp
We've been saying in the area for a wedding and have loved this little strip of Fairfield Ave. for all of the cute little restaurants. And for all the places we tried, BRYAC takes the cake. Wonderful lobster rolls and chowder, delicious drinks with very friendly pours, and Denise who seems to run the place is wonderful. 6 stars all the way.
