WILLAMETTE VALLEY CITY GUIDE

"Perched high on the upper crest of the acclaimed Eola-Amity Hills, our 40-acre LIVE-certified estate is battered by powerful winds sweeping through the Van Duzer corridor from the Pacific Coast. Vines are anchored into rocky volcanic soils on our steep vineyard, testing the upper limits of Willamette Valley viticulture. This difficult land produces wines of intense character."

So lovely. Our server, Jill, was so friendly and helpful. She was so helpful with what wines to choose and was so knowledgeable. I definitely recommend coming here whether you are a local or a tourist like my group. The vibes were so phenomenal like the view!! ✨

This was an awesome winery! Views alone make it a great experience! The wine was fantastic and Dave was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and engaging! Would 100% come back and would recommend to anyone visiting!

Great place! Great staff! Great wine! Great food! Loved it so much, we joined the wine club. Will be back a lot.

We love Bryn Mawr and have been members since 2022. The wine is fantastic, the views are spectacular. Everyone who works there is friendly and knowledgeable but I will say, it’s definitely got a more polished/less down to earth vibe than other wineries nearby. They feel a bit more rehearsed compared to other places I’ve been. But it doesn’t diminish the quality of the experience.

A Truly Exceptional Experience – Incredible Wine, Stunning Views & Wonderful People! Bryn is an absolute gem! From the breathtaking views to the exceptional wines, every visit is more exquisite than the last. The team, especially Bryn, is incredibly warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making every experience feel personal and special. I’ve spent many wonderful days here, and each time, I fall in love with it all over again. If you’re looking for top-notch wine, a gorgeous setting, and genuinely great people, Bryn is the place to be!

Tim did an excellent job. He is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this region and this winery. Excellent teacher! If you want to learn about Pinot Noir and this region this is the place to come. You will learn about the stewardship of the land and its positive impact. Oh my, the elevation tasting in the private room with the view of the valley was money well spent!

Google
When you think about Epic Views, this is one of the best in the valley. Nestled at the top of a hill with cascading views of the valley, Van Duzer mountain range, and one of the largest remaining forests in Oregon. Family run, relaxed environment with quaint feeling for small parties or the ability to accommodate larger groups. Wind can pick up in the afternoon so come prepared if you want to be outside however with the huge bay windows, you won't lose any of the view by being inside. During the off season, enjoy your time curled up by the fire on comfy couches or resting in the Adirondack chairs with a soft blanket to keep the chill away. They offer on site rentals that are gorgeous, with modern designs and/or can custom design an event for your party. This is definitely one to remember for the Eola/Amity AVA!

I visited their tasting room yesterday with a group of friends (7 people total). The tasting room was not busy, we had a reservation, and 3 or 4 employees were working at the time. We had just come from a tasting at another winery and chose to purchase bottles to share rather than having another flight. One person in our group asked to taste one of the wines before purchasing a whole bottle (as this was our first time visiting Bryn Mawr) and they were told "No" by our server and she said they don't do that. We weren't given any information about their wines, and we had to prompt the server for a recommendation. We decided to take a chance on a bottle and eventually bought two. Before we left, we wanted to take advantage of the wonderful view from their deck and get a group photo to commemorate the day for our friend whose birthday we were celebrating. Some of our friends went back inside the tasting room as we were leaving and overheard the employees gossiping behind the counter and speaking poorly about our group. For example: they were judging us for taking photos outside and they saw my friend had tagged the winery in her Instagram story and said something along the lines of, "It must have been a bridal party or something. How did they even find us? At least it's free advertising" (Even though we mentioned it was our friend's birthday to our server). We weren't being rowdy, needy, or unpleasant. Admittedly, one of our friends knocked over and broke a wine glass while we were trying to take our photos outside. She wanted to have the glass in the photos because it had the winery name on it. Accidents happen. We have all worked in the service industry in some capacity, we try to be respectful, and we always tip well. We didn't even ask one of the employees who was standing around to take a group photo for us (honestly, I'm glad we didn't after finding out how stuck up they are.) I have spent a lot of time around the wine industry, as I'm close friends with local winemakers. I've visited many tasting rooms and have never been refused a splash of something if I'm interested in buying a whole bottle (or multiple, for a large group). Thinking back on our server's reaction, we were stereotyped from the get-go; she thought we were a drunken bridal party trying to get a free flight/tasting. They didn't walk us through their wines, tell us about their specialties or most popular wines, and they didn't even mention their wine club. The only times the servers came to our table was to hassle us for our IDs or ask us if we wanted to buy another bottle. I've never experienced such poor salesmanship in a tasting room. I won't be visiting this tasting room again and will strongly advise against it if I'm ever asked for a recommendation. There are plenty of fantastic wineries in the area, so don't waste your time going to Bryn Mawr. The Pinot Blanc is decent (not spectacular), but the customer service is garbage and the staff is snobby. Don't come here if you want to have a good time. If I could give zero or negative stars, I would.

Yelp
Normally, even though I go to a LOT of wineries, I am reluctant to review wineries on Yelp. The reason I typically hesitate is that wine tastes are so subjective to varietal preferences, where one person may love a Syrah, while another despises it. And, beyond just varietals, one person may prefer fruity lighter wines, while another may want rich, earthy, tannic flavors. It's hard to rate a winery and not comment on its wine, so I tend to suspend my Yelp postings as a result. But - now and then, a winery rises to the occasion on so many fronts, that it just merits a writeup, and I'm happy to say that Bryn Mawr is such a place. Bryn Mawr, which is Welsh for "Large Hill" is appropriately named on the top of the biggest hill in this area. While the scenery atop the hill is majestic and worth a visit for the view alone, the hill can get windy, so they can't cater to wedding events. You'll note the hill and wind depicted on their logo (which I thought was an octopus tentacle...nope!). But for a wine tasting in the Eola-Amity Hills region, this is a phenomenal venue. The current iteration of Bryn Mawr is relatively new, with current owners in place for the past 14 years or so. I think it's safe to say the wines have hit their stride and this place is up-and-coming. We did a delightful tasting with an engaging tasting room lady who enchanted us with her knowledge and love of the location. Some tasting rooms are getting pretty minimalist with their service orientation (which I call 'slug and chug'), but not here. Bryn Mawr was welcoming and interesting, like having a knowledgeable friend with us on the visit. On a tour through Willamette Valley, we felt this stop had the best overall experience and wines on our little journey. We tend to favor red wines, but we were fans of the entire tasting lineup, and would happily take home any of them. Price relative to value was very good here, with the tasting fee waived with purchase of a few bottles (which we found easy to do). I do miss the winery days of yore with $5 tastings that included a souvenir glass, but there ya go. Nothing gold can stay. Please do reserve yourself a stop, if you'd like a great winery visit.

Yelp
Disappointed with my visit to this winery. Although it was a beautiful location the service was not great. I was with a larger party that was seeking to purchase a few bottles and requested a taste before purchasing to make sure I liked it, I was told they wouldn't open a bottle for tastes. Every winery I've been to before has always allowed a taste before purchase. As my party was leaving a few of us overheard the staff gossiping about us. They were making fun of us taking pictures outside and said at least it would bring in more business, and asking each other how we even found their winery. This was extremely upsetting to hear and I don't think I would want to return.

Yelp
Very beautiful winery with a great view but the only food option is a chartreuse board which is not an option for those with dietary restrictions or vegans. We tried bring a snack (granola and banana) from the car because we saw people at another table with a zip lock bag of goodie and a Tupperware dish but Immediately someone came over and said we can only eat what they sell. I can't drink without eating so we left. Not sure why we got picked on and the other table didn't.

Yelp
I might have been unclear. They waive the tasting flights fee if you buy wine. So if you plan on buying a few bottles of wine and enjoying them on the deck, definitely get the tasting flight since it will be waived off your bill. Cheers!

Yelp
Beautiful winery with delicious wines and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff and female winemaker.
google avatar

Yelp
Bryn Mawr is beautiful! They have a great indoor space, a nice patio, and a courtyard to enjoy a tasting, glass or bottle service, and a charcuterie board is offered for $20. We got a Bright & Fresh flight ($20) and The Bold & the Beautiful flight ($20). We ended up buying a bottle of Rosé of Pinot Noir for $25, which removed the cost of one of the flights. Overall we spent $65 for a bottle, two flights, a charcuterie board, and a beautiful view. The employees were attentive and very helpful. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Went here for a tasting and it's absolutely beautiful, the wine is great and the service was outstanding. I ordered wine which arrived exactly in Valentine's Day as requested. Highly recommend this place to visit and even for events such as weddings. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Very good wine. Quite a small tasting space. Great views. The service was fantastic and personal as this is a family run operation. Definitely stop here if you're already in the area for Bethel Heights.

Beth O.

Yelp
The minute we arrived at 3:30 we were warned that we would have to leave at 5:30 For some "taco Tuesday" event. We felt allot of pressure to do our tasting and vacate for the event. We understand but just wanted to chill , taste and enjoy the view. Do go on Tuesday ... lol

Yelp
What a LOVELY place!! Their wine is top notch and the tasting room is brand new. Clean bathrooms and sexy interior. The winery overlooks the rolling hills of grapes and trees. It's a great place for pictures. Come with a date or a group of friends. What I love most about this place is that it's family owned. They truly care about what they do and have built a beautiful place to do it. David, the tasting room and wine club manager is so knowledgeable and really sweet. He takes you through the tasting step by step and can happily answer any questions for you. The Lauers are frequently on property and have named some of their wines after their children, which is super cute. Even the art on the bottles is made by the baby of their wine maker, Rachel! Oh, and tiny bits of complementary cheese comes with the tasting! I would def be back.

Michael H.

Yelp
Let's check the list: Outstanding views; beautiful grounds and tasting room; friendly and engaging staff; superb winemaker; family atmosphere...and last--which should be first--outstanding wines in a number of varietals, with some unique offerings. Check, check, check and so forth. Of all the wineries in Oregon, this ranks as one of our favorites. You will never be disappointed. Michael H.

Yelp
I can't wait for their new tasting room to open, since the experience is so nice in the wine cellar area. We sat at cork and barrel tables while David explained each wine. We had some cracker and cheese bites complimentary with our tasting. This was one winery where I liked the reds and whites both, so I joined their club, others in the group purchased rose, white and Pinot Noirs. This was a big hit with our family! We also saw the wine fermentation area and could "hear" the action. One brother and sister at the winery had a competition going on for whose wine you like best, so you can vote, and someone gets bragging rights! This winery is worth a stop!

Rex P.

Yelp
We love this place. Our 4th time here today, a perfect day to enjoy the view. We had the pleasure of sitting and talking with one of the owners, Jon, while Jill presented their tasting menu for us. The wines, as always, were spectacular, some of the very best we've enjoyed in the Willamette Valley. What a treat. Can't wait to be back in Oregon to do it again.

Yelp
Such a fabulous selection of wines, and the staff are fabulous too! The views are insanely gorgeous, and that is not an exaggeration. Tucked in the hills just barely outside of central Salem. They are knowledgeable and friendly, members were friendly, and the atmosphere was very laid back and welcoming. I didn't taste anything that I didn't enjoy (except the Temp but that's cus I'm a native Oregonian and I prefer my cooler climate wines ;)) I ended up signing up for a membership on my first ever visit there because everyone was friendly and there was a great diversity of wines to taste. It would be hard to miss any palate here given the nature of their sourcing, both estate and elsewhere. Very impressed and will definitely return! PLUS - complimentary cheese pairings, which I very much enjoy. And the prices are reasonable for absolutely delectable wines.

Yelp
So I'm not a wine conesuer but I enjoy a quality reserve Pinot. None the lesser the views from hear give an incredible site line to the coastal valley openings of the Van Duzer range. Nothing but views of Oregon salad bowl and vineyard landscapes. If for nothing else a glass of their reserve Pinot, and the views will put a smile on your face.

John N.

Yelp
We try to get to Oregon wine country at least once a year. We always stop in for a tasting at Bryn Mawr, and, every year, it just gets better. Great wine, beautiful facility, and superb service. A special tip-of-the-hat to Karyn, who is always gracious, attentive, and informative.

Yelp
Beautiful view and delicious wine! Some Of the best I've ever tasted!! Along with delicious wine, the weather was perfect which meant the most amazing view and time for cousin/girl talk. We didn't feel rushed or anything. The customer service was wonderful. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
great wines and good times with friends, the view and a charcuterie board. great service, friendly and knowledgeable

Yelp
This is one of our favorite family owned vineyards in the area. They only grow about 20 acres of fruit and they do it well. Try their Tempranillo. It's one of their best.

Yelp
Views that are to die for and wine that matches! We had a fabulous time at Bryn Mawr. What a find!

Debbie R.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! The view and the wine will not disappoint you, nor will the excellent service and hospitality of Karen, John ( the owner) and David. We went to many wineries in this area and by far this was our absolute best in every way! The wine was delicious , people amazing and view will leave you breathless.... Like heaven on earth! GO BLUE!!!
google avatar

Breanne W.

Yelp
The staff is friendly & very knowledgeable about why the wines are the way they are. Don't be disheartened by the provided snacks, they are small, but when paired correctly it's just right. We did the red flight & enjoyed comparing sibling wine blocks. We voted Krista's block.

Lynne C.

Yelp
Do not go there if you are a little loud after 3 wine tastings . Told us too loud and there was no one else there but us. We had a driver to make sure that we did not drive high. Not sure what there problem was but maybe the hostess had a hot date. One wine I had was really good but that's about all I can say. Good luck in the future. We could all walk, talk and laugh. A bad end to our day.
google avatar

Yelp
A beautiful gem of the Willamette Valley! One of the few wineries along this hill that face west instead of east, so your views of the coastal range are fantastic. Brand new tasting room, fantastic staff (make sure to ask for Dave!), and Rachel their winemaker is one of the best in the valley (our favorite wines are the Krista's Block Pinot, Dolcetto, and their new bubbly rose!). If you're in the area make sure to stop by, you won't be disappointed!

Colleen E.

Yelp
A great visit and tour of Bryn Mawr Vineyards led by a very knowledgeable young man called David. He explained the growth of the property including the new and beautiful tasting room and first class processing and bottling facility - he was clearly proud to be a part of the entire operation. His pouring and explanation of their wines was so helpful that I am sure we brought home the perfect wines for our holiday season. The wines tasted great! The warmth of the tasting room with a roaring fire would make it a perfect winter tasting destination to find holiday wines and gifts.

Yelp
Very good wines and great views but small pours small cheese samples...la la la la la

Caitlin B.

Yelp
A friend and I visited about 2 years ago and had a fantastic experience. Delicious wines, spectacular view, and attentive staff. What's even better, I bought a bottle of 2016 Chardonnay when there and just opened it tonight. It is better than I remember. I will be going back soon to taste and purchase more wine.
google avatar

Charrie W.

Yelp
Fun, friendly family vineyard with an amazing view! An absolute pleasure to meet with Jon and David, proprietor father and son. They truly know their product. I truly hate referring to the beautiful wines they craft "products" as they are true works of art. David's Block...one of the best we've had. Not just in the Willamette Valley, one of the best period. A small batch wine that will tickle your pallet. The cheese pairings are spot on. They spoke of expansion. I can not wait! I won't wait! I'll be back well before then... It's almost time for new wines! @ediblechoices

Yelp
Amazing wine and wonderful personalities! !!!!! wow--what can i say. I visited Bryn Mawr a couple years ago when the new owners came in and have to tell you that this is one fantastic boutique winery that is going to explode with good press and followers very quickly. Their Pinots have the most beautiful aromas that literally envelop your senses. I recently took my wife out to the Joel Palmer House for a "super-date" and we took a bottle of Bryn Mawr's 2006 reserve Pinot with us. I have to say that the we uncorked one special bottle of wine that made the evening perfect. There is a hand crafted, earthy, rich, round distinction in their wines--and they have a fragrant nose that is unlike no other. Their 2006-08 reserves are absolutely rich and fit for royalty, their first year for chardonnay --delicious (and it was that good--you gotta be kidding me!)l, and how did they pull off such a terrific 2008 tempranillo? Their estate pinot doesn't break the bank and is wonderful and unique on its own. If you haven't visited their winery yet it's a must. With so many to choose from--go to the good ones. Bryn Mawr is a great winery and worth the trip no matter where you live. Their wine maker Rachael has got something going on as she's passionate about her craft and is extremely personable. And the owners Jon and Kathy are fabulous: knowledgeable, brilliant in the art of wine and just pleasant people too. Somehow they make your visit the best stop of your day. Nice pours, great conversation, people friendly, stunning views, and--fabulous small lot wines. Open every day now and their wine is what you pull out of the cellar for the special occasions. I am looking forward to seeing the completion of their new additions to their tasting room/house and deck and it has been fun watching the expansion of their vineyards. I can't wait for the next wine club pick up too! Ready for a party--- I'm thirsty. cheers!--ted I wrote this in 2012-now in 2018 they are getting mad props in the wine world! Great winery, great wine, great people!

Yelp
Solid Pinots and a good Chardonnay offering an excellent QPR. The hosts were gracious, even though we arrived only a few minutes before closing time on Memorial Day. The $5 tasting included six tastings, cheese, Marcona almonds, and crackers. We ended up buying two bottles of 2009 Reserve--which was a bargain at $20/bottle. A very nice boutique...

Katie M.

Yelp
I cannot wait to return! The wines were top-notch, many with 90+ rating from Wine Enthusiast. Many unique varietals and the pinot noir rivals top names from the Willamette. The tasting room has 180 degree vistas of the Valley. This would be an amazing spot for a wedding, anniversary celebration or girls trip. The team is knowledgable and eager to make your tasting experience unique.

Yelp
We stopped in here after finding a different winery nearby was closed. It was a really fun and unique tasting for multiple reasons. First, we were in the wine cellar! Second, we were able to be seated at a round high top table with our small group, as were all the other tasters at their own tables, rather than crowded around a tasting bar. Third, they have a friendly competition where you can vote for the better pinot between the two that are named after the son and daughter in the family. They have a serious sibling rivalry going on. Fourth, the bathroom is outside! 'Twas a portapotty (until they expand their tasting room). Very clean and not an issue for me. We were served little nibbles of smoked fontina, blueberry Havarti and marcona almonds (I think I have those correct) while we sipped (came with our $10 pp tasting fee). In addition to some solid pinot noirs, a standout for me was their pinot noir rosé which we brought home a bottle of. So tasty! Bryn Mawr also saved the day by selling Wine Skins, which we needed as we quite drastically underestimated the number of bottles we wanted to bring home from our Oregon trip. They were a great deal at $3 each and I'm pretty sure we cleared out their stock, whoops. We really enjoyed the friendly woman who poured and chatted with us. This was a smaller, more intimate tasting and very enjoyable.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
The wine is excellent. We like to bring a picnic lunch up here and wine taste outside while our children play. Lots of space to do so and the staff are always very accommodating.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
Highly enjoyable tasting - 6 wines for $10. Wines are all great value. Love the Rose ($20) and the Tempranillo ($45). Very comfortable seating inside and outside and a few small snacks provided complimentary with tasting.

Lauren K.

Yelp
My favorite kind of winery. We stopped in here on our way to wine country and it was such a nice experience. It is a small, family-owned vineyard and the wines were delicious. Really nice, down-to-earth guy owns the place and poured our tasting along with some cheese and almonds. I normally don't like whites, but even those were tempting to take home. We left with two bottles of really great Pinot Noir and will be back! $10 tasting fee waived with purchase of bottle.
google avatar

Lorraine M.

Yelp
This winery is definitely worth a stop. Wines are excellent and you receive a generous tasting and some cheese nibbles for the $15 fee. Owners/staff members are great. Views from the outdoor seating area are lovely. We brought some sandwiches to enjoy from their property after the tasting (along with a couple of glasses of wine). We left with 6 bottles.

Chillindrina F.

Yelp
Visited August 2017 and can't wait to visit them again! I found Bryn on Yelp and liked the reviews. I visited Red Hawk winery nearby and some wine tasters there had recommended this winery and thank you fellow wine tasters! Let's start with the views...just amazing! The service...amazing! They bring out some delicious cheeses to pair with the wine. We had the white and the red flight and could not decide which one we liked more. All their wines are fantastic! The owners son was our host and he was very knowledgeable regarding the wines, and super friendly and attentive. If I had to pick favorite wines here: 2015Dolcetto Estate, 2014 Pinot Noir Estate, 2014 Pinot Noir Jeffery's Block, 2016 Pinot Blanc David's Block and 2015 & 2016 Rose of Pinot Noir. The wines and the flights are very well priced. A must stop on the wine trail!

Steve R.

Yelp
We stopped at this winery on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The owners son was our host at the winery. He was very friendly and obviously enjoyed his work. We tried multiple wines; Even a few off the tasting list. We rarely purchase wines at wineries to take home but did so at this place. We hope them great success in their venture.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Had a nice time hear speaking with the actual wine maker who was pouring for the tasting room. If your looking for big winery and large beautiful tasting room this isn't the place for you. The tasting room is small and intimate with oak barrels and cool climate of a wine cellar. The wine is very good and they wave the tasting fee with a purchase of wine.

Elise M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! In my opinion this is the best winery on the Oregon wine loop. $15 tasting fee that includes 7 tastes and crackers with cheese pairing. Location is beautiful and service is amazing! Owners son was there and he was so friendly, warm and informative. Recommend to everyone!!

Debbie J.

Yelp
David is a wonderful host at this winery. He is the son of the owners and he is very involved in the winery. He remembers all the wine club members and makes them feel special when they visit. The new tasting room is gorgeous with a beautiful view. Enjoy the new sparkling wine options and and the Pinot noir and Tempranillo selections. I am so fortunate to be a wine club member!

Yelp
I am so glad that I found this family owned/run winery. Everyone is so nice and the wine is a must try. I found Bryan Mawr while visiting June 2016 and came back with friends. This trip in October, I have been back twice. You will enjoy the wine. 2012 an 2013 Pinots were my fave this trip. Las Vegas

Yelp
Excellent wines and a great view of the valley. Definitely worth taking the time to visit and relax over conversation.

Yelp
I sadly haven't been to the vineyard but I have had several of their wines over the past years, red and white..... all I can say is the are spectacular!

Anna R.

Yelp
Excellent service by the tasting room manager David, cute pictures of the family owners on the walls, and delicious wines in a beautiful location! What more could you want? Will be coming back soon.

Lucinda Z.

Yelp
Small tasting room with a personal touch. Nice selection of vine. Good opportunity to try the same vines in slightly different growing conditions.

Dennis C.

Yelp
This is a MUST VISIT! I agree with the other reviews. Bryn Mawr Vineyards was our favorite winery/vineyard. We have visited many vineyards but the quaint personal touch and incredible wine put it on top of our list. The vineyard has incredible views and the service very personal. There is a cellar area as well as an outdoor tasting area overlooking the vineyard and valley. Our group was able to sit together instead of having to stand at a bar area. Owners were very personable, shared vineyard history, and shared their wine industry passion with us. To top it all the wine was some of the best we have sampled. Our favorite was the 2013 Tempranillo and a close second was the 2012 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Prices very reasonable for the quality. Intimate, enjoyable and memorable. Hope you enjoy as much as we did.
