I went to B. Smith's this past Sunday for the Mother's Day Brunch. I was very unpleasantly surprised. For $65 per person, we received a buffet of fish nuggets, fried chicken, bacon, eggs, with Oreo cookies and hostess donuts for dessert. The food that was so cold that my mother who is a food services manager had to warn them several times that the food was in the danger zone. The waitress tried to be accommodating and brought my family and me plates of food from the kitchen where the food was still warm. It was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had. B. Smith would have been embarrassed!

Gumbo was absolutely awful; should be re-named "Gravy with Bits of Sausage." Cat fish was cold. I would have appreciated it if the reservations representative would have informed me when I made reservations for a party of 8 that Sunday brunch was a $40.00 mandatory flat fee. We felt ambushed by this because have always ordered from the menu. The chairs are also getting worn and need to be re-padded. The wait staff needs to be more conscientious, or perhaps hire more so they are no so over extended during peak hours or Sunday brunch. Been coming to BSmith for well over 10 years for both personal and business affairs. This past Sunday, I had invited friends visiting from NY. I was embarrassed an disappointed by the pricing, service, and especially the food. I may, with emphasis on "may," come back for lunch or appetizers but I will not be inviting friends or business associates any more. I'm a little annoyed, but I am more disappointed than anything.

So we decided to go to B. Smith for my daughter's birthday. We looked at the menu online, and went in knowing what we wanted to try. Was told only brunch was available when we got there. Food wasn't good, service was spotty and we spoke with the manager regarding their misleading website, well, she couldn't have cared less. Our second waitress was very nice, but that doesn't make up for the horrible experience. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Great atmosphere however, food was not fresh. Gumbo was not authentic, too thick, lacking the real gumbo flavors. You cannot serve gumbo it's not the real thing. The macaroni and cheese and collard greens were not fresh. These menu items tasted like they were cooked days earlier andrrrr reheated many times. Never had mac and cheese that lacked the cheese or flavor. If you can't get a southern favorite (mac & cheese) right something is this wrong. Absolutely not worth the prices. Revamp the menu to include what the chefs can really cook fresh and well.

Being from Alabama, I am always skeptical of southern/soul food restaurants farther north. While nothing beats Alabama home cooking, B. Smith's is very good. The decor, atmosphere, and appeal are perhaps even better than the southern cuisine.

Disappointed!! Invited for a birthday lunch at this restaurant. Reviewed menu on-line which indicated nothing about Sunday Brunch until 5 p.m. The food was not flavorful to say the least - only dark meat available. Waiter was not happy to serve us; the 2nd waitress tried her best to recover services but then invited the manager - Zeeda to see us. She left much to be desired for customer service. Not my idea of good southern cuisine or service.

Food was amazing. I had the Etouffe and it was the best I've had. The service was a little slow but want bad. I'd definitely go again.
