This is a very nice establishment. Very clean and well organized. I decided to try this place for lunch as I was passing through the town. The food was great. Nice and hot. I ordered the pork, ribs, chicken, green beans, Mac and cheese, collard greens, Bubba poppers, and a Sweet tea. The sweet tea had that perfect sweetness to it. The Bubba poppers were the first time I've sampled this style. The filling in them was WOW and the ranch gave them that kick. All the meats were tender. And the sides were just as good. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Only thing that was upsetting was the young lady who showed me to my table chuckled when I told her I would be dining alone, as if this place was for groups only.

The service was excellent. The BBQ was the best I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere was laidback.

Just had an Awesome Meal, With GREAT Service (Thank You Hannah) & AMAZING Desserts!! So many menu choices!!! The food was well seasoned but not too salty!! I didn’t even need the sauce but I did enjoy trying all the different sauce options! The food came out Fast, Hot & Nice Size Portions. The Fried Mac & Cheese was so buttery delicious!! Oh now let’s talk about Dessert… I had the Banana Pudding and let me tell You!!! I haven’t had Banana Pudding THAT GOOD IN YEARS!!! Not Too Sweet, Great Consistency, Actual Vanilla Wafers AND Real Bananas!!!!!!! The Oreo Dirt Cake Had To Be Good Because I Could Even Get A Spoonful From My Own Brother!! 🤣 Lastly The Place is really Big with Heated Outdoor Seating and Loads of parking (Handicap Accessible)

Google
Service was great. Atmosphere was good. We didn't care that much for the food. The meats were good, but we didn't care for the barbeque sauce. Also, the Brunswick Stew was very spicy, and the shoestring fries were a little oily.

UPDATE: We went back tonight, Oct 15, for early dinner. We usually get ribs, but tonight they didn't have any. We ordered a brisket plate, French fries and collard greens. The collard greens were okay. The French fries were good, but not many of them. The brisket was definitely not my favorite. Two nice size pieces and two small pieces that looked like scraps. The two big pieces were about 35% fat, and the brisket had a mushy feel to it. In our travels we eat a lot of brisket, and this was not very good to me. I won't buy the brisket here again. I really felt like we didn't get much for our money. But I have to say our server was nice and took good care of us. End update. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered a full rack of ribs, they spilt them for onto two plates. They were good, just a little overcooked and chewy. But the flavor was good. The fried okra was very good. I liked the beans.

John M.

Google
The pulled pork was excellent. I have eaten here several times and am always impressed with the portions and taste of the food. The BBQ fries are delicious. I love to mix the pulled pork with the slaw and beans. I go to Bub-ba-q at least twice a year when I visit family in Jasper!

Google
The food here is great, if you stop I highly recommend the chonga’s or the bovine bowl. But over the last 3 visits we have made here the service has been in a steady decline. This trip was our final visit. We went in around 4pm and got seated on right after another couple. The couple ahead of us had gotten their food and were halfway done with eating and no one had even checked on us to take our drink order. There were only 6 people seated in the restaurant (3 couples) during the time we were waiting we observed a server check on the other 2 couples 3 times each and another employee bussed the dirty table next to us. And still no one checked on us. We finally asked for the manager who promised to take a look at the issue. But we were ready to leave at this point and did so, there are far to many other BBQ places on 515 to put up with poor service.

Google
I own eight smokers and grills. For me, to find a place that can cook better than I can is often unheard of. But thank God this place exists. I don't even like barbeque, and I’m already dreaming about returning. I could swim in those collard greens. The sides are just as delicious as the melt in your mouth meat! Absolutely the best barbecue place I have had in GA.

Yelp
It all started here with a $40 smoker, and look at Bu-Ba-Q now! The best ribs I've ever had! Coming to the Jasper location in the north Georgia mountains can't be beat. Everything on the menu is a delight from the platter appetizer with the heavenly fried pickles and pulled pork chimichanga top with Brunswick stew to The delectable ribs, collards and macaroni and cheese. The sweet tea is also perfection. Allison our server was so wonderful and provided a good overview of what to order to finish off the meal we had a blissful slice of Oreo dirt Pie and banana cream pie. These pies are incredible. Fluffy and dense as well as perfectly balanced in sweetness. All made in-house daily! What a treat! You better stop in and find out what all the fuss is about.

Yelp
We were staying in Ellijay and this place was recommended. It did not disappointed. Flavor was there!! We started with the Bubba Penos. They weren't as warm as I'd liked them but they were really good. I forgot to take a picture when they first got there but I did manage to get one. I ordered the pork and rib combo with collard greens and French fries. First, the collard greens were real good. The fries.. amazing and the pork was moist and the ribs fall off the bone tender and everything packed full of flavor. My friend got the Bovine Bowl and well there was nothing left. Service was wonderful. Great place.

Yelp
It was good. Food was good. But to be 'world championship,' maybe I was expecting to be a little more wowed. I wasn't. We ate on the deck to enjoy the unusually crisp day for a summer in GA. I wasn't sure I could trust the chair I sat in. The furniture is a little shaky (and I'm being charitable). Time to replace. The whole place just sort of had a tired feeling and needs a little TLC. Service was good; not over-the-top good. I've never been to the competition across town in Jasper, but I have been to other BBQ places nearby that I consider to be a notch or two better. Perhaps the problem is that we went to Jasper after having eaten earlier in the month at the Salty Mule, a sister restaurant under the same ownership. We expected the same level of experience and it wasn't quite up to that standard. Bottom Line: a good restaurant. Not a great restaurant.

Ronald R.

Yelp
Really good bbq and sides. I had the brisket that was moist and delicious. Collards are some of the best I have ever eaten!

Yelp
Third visit in 3 months, always out of ribs.. Also out of corn, onions rings and wings are going up in price by .65 per wing on Wednesday.

Yelp
Well, I really wanted to love it. It's such a cute place with an awesome outside deck that backs up to the woods and it's covered. We ordered the full rack of ribs, Mac n cheese & coleslaw. Our order came out super fast and the service was great however, I didn't enjoy the meal much. The ribs were kinda slim, fatty and the actual meaty parts were so dry it was like eating jerky. Sauces tasted great although very runny. The max n cheese(that was the #1 recommended by our waitress) was horrible! It was like Velveeta with a few pieces of soggy pasta. The coleslaw was pretty good except I don't really like it minced quite so much. Super sad this isn't as good as Biguns down the road.

Evan P.

Yelp
I eat a lot of BBQ and this was excellent. The ribs were great and the poppers were in another level. They only had one desert option because you only needed on desert options. The banana pudding was killer. I am glad I looked past the bad reviews and stopped in for the best meal of our entire Georgia vacation.

Kanjana R.

Yelp
we ordered their lunch special which is pulled pork sandwich comes with one side and a drink. bbq sauce is a little watery for me but it's good. collard greens is delicious so is fried okra. the service was good. would be back when in the area again to other items on the menu.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
I love BBQ and have been a bit disappointed with the offering in GA since I've been here. With that said this is worth the stop. I was not disappointed at all and the Brisket and Ribs were quite good. I like dry ribs on ribs and you can get them dry or with sauce (nice to have options). The brisket was moist and not overly Smokey (just enough), to not taste it for hours after. Service with adequate and I would go back when it the Jasper area and is much better than Biguns up the road. Oh and the fry's were just okay, they needed to be cooked more.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
The fried pickles changed recipe. They are no longer spears and they are chips. Over cooked, poorly seasoned, really greasy, actually really kinda bad. The pickle spears were the reason I kept coming back. The smoked wings are alright on Wednesday when they're priced reasonably, but we took this place out of our family rotation because after the pickles changed, it all went downhill.
google avatar

Rick P.

Yelp
Went there fifteen years ago it was good. My bride wanted some tins so we revisited. It is still good.

Sheryl P.

Yelp
Ate here last night and the cost is so ridiculously high for what you get, not to mention my stomach has been upset all morning. Ordered 6 wings and they were so tiny and basically had no meat on them, got potato salad as a side...I was still hungry. Husband got burnt ends and grilled chicken tenderloins and we took home a pork sandwich, Mac Attack and it was $57 BEFORE TIP and we had water to drink! Ridiculous, could have gone up the road and not spent as much, been full and not had an upset stomach for the last 6 hours! Never again!
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
Great barbecue plus some creative choices that you won't find anywhere else. Like the Hog-a-Chonga.
google avatar

Todd C.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a late lunch and wasn't disappointed at all. We started with fried pickles and they was the bomb! I had the mustard chicken wings and hand cut fries. One friend had a pulled pork salad and it was huge and she loved it, another friend had the pulled pork sandwich and she's absolutely loved it. So on a scale Of 1-10. Definitely a 10 on the food. Amoka was our server and she was so sweet and made the experience even better then the food. So on a scale of 1-10 on service she was a 100. Recommend this place of your here on vacation in Blue Ridge GA.

Yelp
I've had their BBQ several times at catered functions...eaten in once a long time before I was on Yelp. It's okay - nothing to go out of your way for. Meat is well prepared, the sauces and sides remind me of store-bought products. The employees are courteous and efficient.

Amjad A.

Yelp
Food was great. Our waitress was terrible. We were a party of 12 people and was annoyed by every question we asked.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Wow! It had been a couple of years since we have eaten there. Had an amazing rib dinner with a good draft beer. Service was excellent. Just a great experience. I had to wonder why we were the only customers on an early Saturday evening though!? We will return soon!

C. E.

Yelp
Waitresses very friendly and helpful. Ordered the Hog-A-Chong-A. Think chimichanga but stuffed with smoked pork, cheese and baked beans then covered in Brunswick stew. Fantastic! Got their pasta salad as a side. It's a creamy based style. Was a little overdressed for my liking but I won't let that keep me from going back. Prices are good too. They also have daily(MON-THUR)specials.
google avatar

Kerry S.

Yelp
Their ribs are my favorite. Wet with extra sauce. Do yourself a favor and go for the whole rack.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
These might have been the best ribs I have ever eaten! We got take our meal to go, but the ribs were still phenomenal. They were fall-off-the-bone tender and the sweet sauce was a great compliment. The mac & cheese was an incredible addition.
google avatar

Danny D.

Yelp
The meat falls off the bone and is cooked to perfection. The sides are delicious too. Everyone, from the people who take our order, to the servers, to busboys, is incredibly friendly and polite.
google avatar

nice ..

Yelp
We was going back from Gibs Garden and we wanted to eat. I searched on yelp and found this BBQ or Bub ba q. We liked a lot. We thought "best of the best" we liked. Everyone who likes barbecue is going to love it. Next time when we going go back home we always going to go in and eat. Thanks.

James S.

Yelp
The last time we ate there, our server seemed distracted, and our table was wobbly, but the food as always was excellent. They've been a favorite since we took out a bunch of barbecue and trimmings for my daughter's wedding reception.
google avatar

Cathy P.

Yelp
Delicious food and server was very attentive and efficient. The pulled pork was awesome and the potato salad was fantastic!!

Jay F.

Yelp
Everytime I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop in. Food is always great and there's not a bad thing on the menu. At first sight, you'll see the many trophies they've won at BBQ competitions around the country. Yes, these folks have been featured on TV many times. If there was 100 stars... I'd give that too. Jasper or Woodstock locations are great. I prefer the original in Jasper.
google avatar

M B.

Yelp
We ate lunch here on a Tuesday in mid January. $43 with tip. We got the barbecue plate and brisket chimichanga burrito). The barbecue was very bland and had lots of fat. I don't often not finish a meal, but I left half the barbecue (it was that bad). The French fries were under cooked, and the Mac and Cheese (premium side) was cheesy, but had no flavor. The brisket chimichanga was very saucy and the brisket flavor was covered by the sauce. This restaurant was rated 3rd in restaurants in Jasper and had many awards posted on the walls. It left us wondering what the competition was like at these competitions. This lunch was definitely not worth $43 and we just can't recommend this place. Won't be back.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
The food was amazing. We placed order at the counter as you go in. Hostess was nice. Place is a little off the main road and had decent parking. Will definitely go back.

C L.

Yelp
The best wings in Jasper by far - trust me. I've tried them everywhere Jasper has to order for many years. Plus they have a good Wednesday night special. The chicken wrap is very good. The service is always decent and the atmosphere is about average for a bbq joint.
google avatar

Shane D.

Yelp
Hallelujah, I finall found a barbecue restaurant that has multiple sauces, they are all diverse, and they all taste great. I found this place on maps and it was a little bit off the beaten path. They have plenty of parking, the interior is awesome, they have live music on the weekends on the deck, they also have a open deck. The staff was awesome and the banana pudding was incredible. I have zero negativity to say about this place except for I wish it was closer to my house. It is not very often that I stop at a barbecue restaurant in brag like this. Just ask my friends they call me the barbecue snob.
google avatar

Carole L.

Yelp
Out of ribs, out of corn on the cobb. Served a brisket sandwich that was all bread! One inch roll, 1/4 inch brisket. Brunswick stew tasted like Campbell's tomato soup! Cole slaw flavorless. Save your money.
google avatar

Manny C.

Yelp
Stopped here on or way out of town from Ellijay. This place is not only convenient since it's right off he highway but their prices are great and he food was delicious!!!! Or waitress Latasha was amazing and friendly as can be. I had the smoked and fried wings and my wife had a small pork sammy. Definitely worth the stop!
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Ordered the Burnt ends. They're not on the menu, so how would I have know it would cost $12.00 for 8oz of greasy chunks of beef? Like no burnt ends I've ever had before... and do they think they are made of gold?? So not worth the price... My tummy feels sick now because of all the grease.
google avatar

George F.

Yelp
Always a good meal here. I'll say it's the best BBQ in Pickens County. Pulled pork is a top choice. Good service and good beer.

Carol S.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the delicious smoked chicken wings and a Texas Dirty Bird brisket sandwich! And those corn fritters, so many and so good!
google avatar

Larry P.

Yelp
The best BBQ around. We love to stop by here on our way to Ellijay. If you haven't tried this place, you need to!

Rod L.

Yelp
Food is always great. Nice causal place to hang out. As soon as you get out of your car your mouth starts watering
google avatar

Dawn S.

Yelp
Had a hankering for some Pulled Pork and Cole Slaw This place is freakin' awesome!!! I have never seen so many awards for BBQ in my life in one place before. Seriously deserving!!!! @ Bub-Ba-Q Shout out to our server Jessi who helped guide my selection and rocked it in her field!!! NOTE: Photo was of child's portion because of protein issues I can't hamdle more than 4 oz at a time
google avatar

Yury A.

Yelp
Great spot in jasper off the main rd with plenty of parking . Wings Wednesday is a great special on chicken wings very saucy and tasty. The pulled chicken and corn on the Cobb is a delicious meal along with a sweet tea. Fried Okra is a must as a side along with french fries. Will definitely stop by when in the area.
google avatar

LaDonna H.

Yelp
We always enjoy bubba Q when we're in the area. We love the pulled pork and all the sides are homemade and delicious. Staff is always super friendly.
google avatar

Tim E.

Yelp
OMG This seriously has to be the BEST BBQ in the Jasper area. The staff is great AND the BBQ BAKED BEANS and Pork sandwich was amazing I will always have lunch here when I want BBQ in these parts and I highly recommend it as a 100% HIT for lunch and I will review at dinnertime. Im sure its as good as it is at lunch time Too! Even the Sweet Tea is amazing. They didn't just dump a lbs of sugar in it. The cook was great and was very nice and when told he had the best baked beans he was really happy and you could tell they care ab the food here. Do NOT MISS!
google avatar

Robbie G.

Yelp
Ok so this place is the lunch place it seems in jasper and rightly so it is good bbq at a good price. I tried the smoked jalapeño poppers and first one I was like wow this is so good.. after the second one I was done. The bbq in them was a bit much and the bacon was not crispy and the pepper itself was so Smokey. I would not order these again. I did like the bbq sandwich it was very good and the sauces were not thick unless you used the honey. I still bought it was good. Good place good service

Starkova N.

Yelp
5 stars hands down. It slaps ! I enjoy eating here a lot because the bbq sauce that they have is actual bbq sauce.

Autumn B.

Yelp
We stopped here on a day trip to the area based on the online menu and the website update that the staff was being COVID safe, wearing masks and gloves, spacing tables, ect. When we arrived neither the hostess nor any servers we observed were wearing masks or taking any precautions whatsoever. While waiting for our order that decided to order takeout I observed a waitress carrying food to table walking fast and spilled some beans/stew on herself, the plate, and floor, but just keep going to deliver the messy plate. Not a huge deal, but speaks to the sort of care and attention they give the food and customers, the place was not at all busy. Even though we got our food to go, we ate it right away. The ribs and pork were good, not the best in the area by any means, but also not at all bad. The bbq was one of the worst I've ever tasted. Truly awful. Way too sweet, it tasted more like syrup than bbq sauce. I don't know if there are other flavors. I asked for a little of all flavors available and this was the only one we had. The sides are a waste of time and money. The home cut fries were not cooked appropriately. They were soggy and limp, despite the fact the place hadn't been open long and I'm confident they were fresh. The fried Mac and cheese is also terrible. It's either a low end frozen product, or it's Kraft in a blue box that they fry up. I'm not against frozen products, but his one isn't any good, certainly doesn't justify an up charge. The okra was fine, again not the best, not the worst. Same for the baked beans. Overall, if I lived nearby I may stop once in a while for take out meats, then bring it home and eat with a better sauce and my own sides. It's perfectly reasonable for a good bbq place to to only serve the meats and just a basic side or two. These guys need to revisit the menu, and pair it down. Personally, I wouldn't go back.

Theresa H.

Yelp
Great BBQ!! The pork and chicken are great and the beef brisket is awesome. I wish they had more options for sides. You get big portions. Never had anything bad.
google avatar

Yolonda H.

Yelp
We had them cater an event June 2020 and the staff was friendly and easy to work with. The food was excellent and the packed it up for us after the event. We ate inside the day we ordered and there were a light of flies was the only downfall.
google avatar

ThatOneBlonde ..

Yelp
Absolutely delicious every time. If you go make sure to try their ribs. They're my favorite and practically fall off the bone tender.
google avatar

Miles K.

Yelp
While on my never ending quest for great BBQ, I did what most of us would do here...I searched Yelp. As soon as I saw burnt ends, I got in my truck and drove immediately to make the 30 minute jaunt for what has turned into amazing BBQ. To put this into perspective, I've gone four weekends in a row and plan on going for a fifth tomorrow. The ribs were fantastic. The burnt ends are worth the trip alone. I brought along two of my gym buddies who agreed that the burnt ends were basically one of the best things they've ever tasted. The little salad isn't the best I've ever had, but it's very good. The pasta salad is likely a hidden gem on the menu that should appeal to those that like onions. The selection of beer is decent and for me, there may not be a better combo than a good beer and good BBQ. Important note: of you want burnt ends, go early. The later you go in the day, usually the smaller the pieces it seems. Also, they have run out. If you're going on the weekend, try to go well before dinner.
google avatar

Aaron H.

Yelp
This is not authentic BBQ!! Horribly dry and flavorless. We will never be back, dont be fooled by the whole food network propaganda. If your in the area and craving legit Q, do yourself a favor and head north a little further to Biguns, you will not be disapointed

Yelp
* Let me preface this review by saying my meal was comp'd by the General Manager. After 6 months of passing on this joint I finally walked in the door for lunch at 12:15pm sharp. We were seated straight away at a table on the spacious deck over looking the beautiful Hwy 53. Within 10 min we had our drinks and the waitress reappeared to take our order. Trouble was we had not been given menus so she quickly turned and skipped off to find us some. After quickly looking over the menu I settled on the daily special which included small pork sandwich, side (slaw)and drink. It was a nice value. I also ordered a cup of the Brunswick stew I have heard others rave about. In addition to the pork and stew the Hand battered chicken tenders were ordered with fries along with two iced teas. At 12:55pm our food finally arrived, missing the slaw and barely warm fries. The chicken was piping hot. The chopped pork was pretty darn good, the late arriving slaw was average and the Brunswick stew was better than most around town. It had a nice little kick that lingered in my mouth. The failure on the pork sandwich was the bun. You can check out the pics I posted to see exactly what I'm talking about, but after eating my plate, table and my pants were covered with 'Bun dander' When I first saw it I thought maybe I needed to start using head & shoulders shampoo. Like I said, the food was pretty good but the service was a bit slow. There was nothing slow about our waitress as she was always running around but they just seemed short staff for lunch today. I wanted to ask the waitress to summon the owner/manager but she just vanished. I called the number on the cups and asked the manager to come find the grumpy guy with the hat sitting on the deck, and about a minute later he arrived at our table. After giving the check and money to him, he returned and apologized for the seemingly long delay, bun issue and cold fries and offered to pick up the tab. I generally do not 'not pay' for food I've eaten, ever. Its just not right no to, but today I let him pick up the check because he listened to everything I 'complained' about and not once tried to make an excuse and go all blah blah blah to me, I think I'd have hurt his feelings. We will be back and I look forward to trying some of the other menu items such as the ribs and brisket.
